Navarathri follows the story of Nalina (Savitri) who runs away from home. Over the course of the nine nights of Navaratri festival, she encounters nine men (Sivaji Ganesan in a multi-role), each of whom represent one of the Navarasam, or nine human emotions.

On the seventh night she meets an actor, who represents the emotion of Elegance, and his troupe. The actor and his troupe are portrayed as feminine, yet are not villainized--they assist Nalina and even rescue her from a typically male character who attempts to harm her.

On the eighth night, Nalina crossdresses as a man and introduces herself with a male name while meeting with a hunter, which is meant to represent the emotion of Bravery.

The film was remade into Telugu with Savitri reprising her role as protagonist and Akkineni Nageswara Rao as the men, and then in Hindi with Jaya Bhaduri as protagonist and Sanjeev Kumar as the men.

🌴. ఉగాది విశిష్టత : 🌴

‘‘ఉగము’’ ఆదిగా గలది - ఉగాది. ‘ఉగము’ అంటే జన్మ, ఆయుష్షు, యుగము, అనే అర్థాలున్నాయి. ఉగ్+ఆది ఉగాది. ‘‘ఉక్ ఆదౌయస్వసః ఉగాదిః’’. ‘‘ఉగ్’’ ఆదియుందుగల రోజు - ఉగాది. ‘ఉ’ అంటే శివుడు. ‘ఉ’ ఆదిగా గలది ‘ఉమ’. కనుక ఉగాది అంటే ‘ఉమ’ - ప్రకృతిసుందరి - బ్రహ్మవిద్య - కుండలినీ యోగాశక్తి, చేతనాచేతన జీవరాశికి ప్రతీక. సరైన జీవన విధానానికి ఉపకరించే అసలైన విద్యను నేర్చుకొనటానికి ప్రారంభ దినమే - ఉగాది.

ఉగాది అంటే నూతన సంవత్సర ప్రారంభ దినమ. గత సంవత్సరానికి వీడ్కోలు పలికి, నూతన సంవత్సరాలకి స్వాగతం పలికే రోజు. ఈ సంయోగ వియోగ పరిధి రోజు - ఉగాది. ‘గాది అనే పదం ‘‘యుగాది’’ అనే సంస్కృత పదానికి వికృతి రూపం. కనుక ఉగాది అంటే యుగమునకు ఆది అని అర్థం. పరమాత్మ కాల స్వరూపుడు. యుగ సంవత్సర, ఋతు, మాస, స్వరూపుడని కూడా విష్ణు సహస్ర నామములు తెలియ జేస్తున్నాయి. అహః సంవత్సరో వ్యాళః ఋతు స్సుదర్శనః కాలః, ఉగ్రః సంవత్సరో, దక్షో, వత్సరో వత్రలో వత్సి’ దీనిని బట్టి సంవత్సరాది కూడా యుగాది - ఉగాది అవుతుంది.

🪷. ఉగస్య ఆది ఉగాది : 🪷

ఉగమంతా, నక్షత్ర గమనం. నక్షత్రముల నడవ��ిక ఆరంభమైన కాలమే అనగా సృష్టి మొదలైన కాలము యొక్క ఆది - ఉగాది. వే��ములను తస్కరించిన సోమకాసురుని చెంత నుడి వేదాలను గైకొని చతుర్ముఖునికి అందజేసిన శ్రీహరి మత్స్యావతారాన్ని దాల్చిన రోజు, చైత్ర శుద్ధ పాడ్యమి, ఉగాది రోజు అని, పురాణములు పేర్కొన్నాయి.

🪷. ఉగాది నాడు పాటించే ప్రధానాంశములు 🪷

ఉగాది పండుగ నాడు ప్రధానంగా ఆచరించే విషయములు: అభ్యంగన స్నానము, ఇష్ట దేవతారాధన, సంవత్సర దేవతారాధన, భగవంతునికి నివేదించిన షడ్రుచులతో కూడిన ఉగాది పచ్చడి సేవనం, పంచాంగ శ్రవణం.

🪷. పంచాంగ శ్రవణం - చేకూరు లాభములు🪷

తిథి వార నక్షత్రయోగ కరణములతో కూడినది - పంచాంగం.

‘‘తిథేశ్చ, శ్రీయమాప్నోతి వారాదాయుష్య వర్థనమ్

నక్షత్రాత్థరతాపాపం, యోగార్రోగ నివారణమ్

కరణాత్కార్య సిద్ధిస్తు పంచాంగం ఫలముత్తమమ్

కాల విత్కర్మ కృద్దీమాన్ దేవతానుగ్రహం లభౌత్’’

తిథి వలన సంపద, వారము వలన ఆయుష్షు, నక్షత్రము వలన పాపపరిహారం, యోగము వలన వ్యాధి నివారణం, కరణము వలన కార్యానుకూలత, పంచాంగ శ్రవణము వలన నవగ్రహముల ధ్యానము వలన కలిగే శుభ ఫలితాలు కలుగుతాయి.

🪷 🍯🥭🥣. ఉగాది పచ్చడి 🪷🍯🥭🥣

ఇది షడ్రుచులతో కూడిన భక్షణం. వేపపువ్వు (చేదు), మామిడి పిందె (వగరు), క్రొత్త చింతపండు (పులుపు), మిరియాల పొడి (కారం) ఇప్పుడు పచ్చి మిర్చి ముక్కలు వేస్తున్నారు. కొద్దిగా సైంధవ లవణం (ఉప్పు). మానవజీవిత వైవిధ్యం అంతా, ఉగాది పచ్చడిలో ప్రతిబింబిస్తుంది. జీవితంలో అంతా మాధుర్యము- సుఖమే ఉండదు. చేదు, పులుపు, వగరు లాంటి కష్టనష్టములతో, ఒడుదుడుకులతో కూడికొని ఉంటుంది. ఉప్పు ఉంటుంది, బెల్లము ఉంటుంది. జీవితంలోనూ సుఖదుఃఖాలుంటాయి. అన్నింటినీ సమచిత్తంతో స్వీకరించే ఆత్మస్థైర్యం ఉండాలన్నది, ఉగాది పచ్చడి మనకిచ్చే సందేశం.

The Meenakshi Temple (Arulmigu Meenakshi Sundaraswarar Temple) is an historic Hindu temple located on the southern bank of the Vaigai River in the temple city of Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is dedicated to the goddess Meenakshi, a form of Shakti, and her consort, Sundareshwarar, a form of Shiva.

Meenakshi temple has 14 colourful gopura (entrance towers). These are gateways to various shrines and mandapas.

The massive temple is enclosed by high walls entered through soaring gopuras, or gateway towers. Inside are colonnades, columned mandapas (halls, some of which were used for shops, storerooms, and stables), a sacred tank, lesser shrines, and, at the centre, the two main shrines to Sundareswarar and Meenakshi. The gopuras are some of the most elaborately decorated in India. Brightly painted, they are completely covered with figures of divinities, celestial beings, monster masks, guardians, and animal mounts. The tallest of the 14, the southern gopura, rises to more than 170 feet
