Heres another reason why Jay Z in his prime was way better than Eminem

Hes a well read man. N I dont say tht lightly. He defo pays attention to the news, keeps up w the world n other genres of music, other fields, n taktau cemana dia tau, tapi dia tau bnyak wlpn masa muda dia bnyak guna utk push dadah around NY. Sempat lagi tu dlm lifestyle yg gangster tadak dah. Thats why dlm rap dia, dia boleh HUJAH macam2 from diff fields, n genres.

N the thing I adore about his old stuff is how you can legit write a whole ass essay from his song. Sbb dia mya commentary tu luas merangkumi pelbagai bidang. If its an essay, itll be a social, political n economic commentary 3 in 1 essay. Hes like that. Thts on the tracks where hes serious la. Not the ones featuring Bey or whatever. Not those.

Plus dia jarang recycle his lines. Despite being famous for never writing them down.

Eminem bnyak recycle. Dia tadak idea sgt kalau prasan dari first few albums dia, smpai lani, bnyak suka name drop nama mcm Monica Lewinsky n Bill Clinton mya scandal dari dulu. Still doin it too idk why cause hes clearly made his point. Go check it how many times hes done that. Its loads.

N hes in favour of using a pov / applying persona of a little boy n then switching to a speaker speaking to a young audience. Hat dari dulu dia suka buat.

N I geddit, having a persona like Slim Shady, the same way Nicky Minaj has Roman, yadayada is creative, sure. But not when the stories stayed the same.

So to conclude, if Eminem used to read n memorize dictionaries, Jay Z defo read papers, listened to the news, everything.

You ignore the buzzing of your phone for the third time, closing your eyes as you feel Nicki run her fingers through your hair. You hum, opening your eyes to look up at her from your place in her lap. She looks at you sympathetically, and you sigh.

"It's her, isn't it?"

"Yeah," you mumble.

"You going to answer," she raises an eyebrow knowingly.

"...yeah," you look away, ashamed.

"It's ok," she sighs, sitting you up, "I know she loves you. You guys are so good together, but she can't keep doing this shit to you. You gotta tell her she needs to make up her mind."

"I know," you groan in annoyance, "I just love her so much. Every time I think I'm done she pulls me back in and I can't help it. I know she doesn't mean to hurt me, it's just how she is."

"Well look," Nicki grabs your chin, "you are an amazing woman, and you deserve love. If she's it for you, then you need to make sure she knows that she can't break your heart like this again. And I'm saying this as your sister, and as your best friend. I will beat her ass, Y/N."

You laugh, ignoring the tears falling down your cheeks. Your phone buzzes again, breaking the humor of the moment. Nicki stands, and hands you your phone. She leans down and kisses your forehead and gives you a smile.

"Be strong, Baby girl," and with that, she lets herself out of your apartment.

You reluctantly unlock your phone and hit the callback button on your notification. The phone rings, and you feel your heart pound as you wait. Finally, it connects and Kehlani's voice comes through as she answers the phone.

"I didn't think you'd call back this time," Her voice is quiet...timid.

"I almost didn't," you admit, biting your lip.

"Well I'm glad you did," she sounds resigned, like she's waiting for something.

"What do you want, Kehlani," you sigh, curling up on the couch.

You hear her breath hitch at the use of her first name, and you force yourself not to break and let her back in. There's silence, and you wonder if she's hung up, until she speaks again.

"I'm home from tour," her voice cracks slightly, "I just... I wanna come see you. Are you home?"

"I am," you say slowly.

"I can be there in 30," she says, "you hungry? We can have Chinese and talk..."

"I never said I was here by myself, Kehlani. You can't just invite yourself over."

"...oh," you can tell that hurt her," you right, that was hella rude. I'll just... I didn't mean to interrupt."

You sigh, pinching the bridge of your nose, "give me an hour...and I want Mexican."

"I'll take you to fucking Mexico if you want," her voice is less timid, but it's still strained with insecurities.

"Bye Kehlani," you hang up before she can say I love you, like you know she would....like she always does.

You sit across from Kehlani, food forgotten on the table between you as you avoid looking at her. You can feel her eyes on you, and know they've been there since she got to your place almost an hour ago.

She sighs, and you turn to look at her finally. Her hair is different, you notice. It's no longer short, but not extremely long either. It reaches just past her shoulders and is wavy and a little wild. A bandana is on her head, and you take in her crop top and tight black jeans. You look at your own outfit of red joggers and your favorite graphic shirt and wonder what she sees when she looks at you.

"Y/N," her voice is husky, and you're reminded of what it sounds like when she's pinned- no, don't think like that.

"What," you meet her eyes passively.

"I'm-"

"A bitch," you cut her off, suddenly furious, "a huge fucking bitch that I wasted my time and love on!"

She flinches, but takes it all in stride, "I deserve that. I know I fucked up again, I just... I don't deserve your love. Sometimes I get scared and I do shit I shouldn't do...and I don't do shit I should've did."

"Kehlani I don't think you understand how much I fucking hate you right now," you glare at her, "you left me, again! After you promised me you wouldn't. I don't even know why you bothered coming back!"

"Because I love you, babe," she stands, coming closer to you, before dropping to her knees in front of the couch, "because I need you. Because I can't live my life to the fullest unless you're there with me. Because we belong together."

"You're so full of shit," you roll your eyes, "you think you can come here, bat your eyelashes and that will fix everything? You're such a fucking narcissist, Kehlani!"

"Baby please just-"

"Don't call me that," you snap, "matter fact, back up."

"No," she grabs your hand, "not until you understand."

"I do understand," you insist, seeing the hurt and desperation in her eyes.

"Y/N," she forces her way between your legs, her hands on your thighs to prevent you from moving, "just hear me out. I'm sorry. Being away from you... having to go on tour was the worst thing that's happened to me, especially because it was my fault."

She looks down, and you feel your heart speed up as your angry is replaced by heartache. She wipes her tears, before meeting your eyes again.

"I left because I thought you would be better without someone like me," she admits, "but all I could think about was 'Y/N would like this' and 'that would look cute on Y/N'. Eventually all I could think about was how miserable I was without you. My music stopped mattering as much...my fans didn't make me as happy. Everyone always asked about you and I...I had to tell them I fucked up."

You remain silent, and listen to her words carefully.

"The first thought I had every morning and the last one was always how much I missed you," She took your hands, "I missed waking up with you, and your good morning texts when we weren't together. I missed your skin...your smile...your lips."

"You left, Kehlani," you finally speak up, "you took my heart and crushed it on your way out."

"Then let me fix it," she immediately replies, "whatever it takes-"

"Those are just empty promises," you shake your head, "I love you so much, but even I know that by now."

"No, it's not," she has an odd look in her eyes, "not if you don't want it to be."

"What?"

She doesn't answer verbally, but she pulls a ring from her back pocket, and your eyes widened. You talked about marriage once, but the subject was short since she said that whoever she married she could lever leave and made it clear she wasn't ready for that commitment. Now, here she was. Proposing to you. She was serious about this...about you.

"You know how I feel about marriage," she took a deep breath, "It's a huge commitment, and I've always thought I was too young to know that someone was the one, but that's changed. Being away from you this time... living this life without you."

She shakes her head, frowning, "I can't do that. I need you, not only that, but I want you. I can't live this life without you there with me. I know I've fucked up, and it shouldn't have taken this for me to know that, but it's the truth. I know it's selfish to ask you to be with me when I have all these issues, but I can't help but be selfish with you."

"Kehlani."

"I know," she clenches her jaw, "that you probably have someone you're seeing now, and I can't be mad over that, but I just need-"

"Kehlani!"

"And yes, it's selfish to ask you to keep on taking me back, and honestly I don't know why you do when I'm no good for you, but-"

"KEHLANI!"

"Please just-hmmph"

Your lips cut her off, since clearly your words don't work. Her eyes widened, before she pulls you closer. Your stomach flutters with butterflies like it always does when she kisses you, but this is different. She kissed you like you will literally disappear if she doesn't. Her hands are gentle but firm as they pull you into her, and you moan at the feeling of her pressed against you.

"You talk too fucking much," you mumble against her lips.

"Is that a yes?"

"I'm not going to marry you, Lani," you say softly, seeing the devastated look in her eyes, "I can't."

"Then why did you kiss me," she made to remove herself from between your legs, the ring gripped in her fist.

"Shhh, wait," you kiss her one more time, "let me finish talking."

Her movements stop, and you cup her face in your hands, looking into her eyes.

"I'm not going to marry you because I can't," you repeat, "I refuse to say yes like that will fix us. When I say yes to you, Lani, I want us to be ok. Actually, I want us to be more than ok. I want us to be ready for that. As much as I love you, and you love me, we have a lot of shit to work out. I won't start our forever with that as a foundation."

"Ok," she leans her forehead against yours, "I understand. We're still gonna be ok though, right? I know I have a lot to fix, not just with us but with myself, but I won't ever-"

"What did I say," you kiss her to stop the rambling, charmed by the embarrassed blush on her cheeks, "god I love you."

"I love you too," she grins that goofy grin.

"Nicki told me to tell you she's gonna beat your ass if you fuck up again before she left," you bump her nose with yours, "and I'll let her."

"Me too," she agrees, unable to resist kissing you again, "...wait. It was Nicki that was here when I called? You made me think you had moved on!"

"You made me think I'd lost the best thing in my life forever," you countered, raising an eyebrow.

"Damn ok," she frowns, pouting slightly, "I'm sorry! You right, I shouldn't be jealous."

"I'm sorry too," you sigh, "if we're gonna move past this I have to forgive you fully."

"It's ok to be mad," she insists, "I definitely deserve it. Just let it out, I can take it."

"I'm not mad anymore, Lani. Just come here," you pull her onto the couch with you, "I've missed this."

"Me too," she mumbles against your neck, slipping her leg between yours as you both get comfortable in the familiar position.

"I love you," your lips find the crown of her head, and place a kiss there.

"You're my everything," she whispers into your ear, "when I left, you kept my heart with you. Thank you for keeping it."

"I'll never let it go," you promise.

"Good," she looks into your eyes, "because I never want it back. I love you too."

"You better," you playfully glare at her, "after all the shit you put me through!"

"Don't worry, beautiful," she smirks, her hands trailing up your sides teasingly as she leans down to kiss you briefly before pulling back to meet your eyes once again, "I have the rest of our lives to make up for every. Single. Mistake. I've. Made. Every day, however you want...for as long as you want."

You moan, her fingers gripping your hips, "come here," you groan, your lips kissing hers deeply.
