this isnt gonna be coherent but thinking about Sandor and his relation to death..

he calls his horse stranger (just alone him identifying with the stranger, the seen-as-a-monster god of death and outcasts), constantly talks about how many people he has killed and how it gives him joy, keeps this "butcher" persona that thinks killing is necessary to survive even when its innocents, talks proudly if his sigil that was based on three dogs that died trying to protect someone,fights and kills a literal undead man-gets burned in the process- only for him to come back again lol (ok this ones kind of a reach but worth mentioning for the undead gregor parallelisms) , shows arya how to give the gift of mercy "that's where the heart is, thats how you kill a man" and he denies to dig him a grave.

and after arya denying him the gift of mercy(and goes on to train to become a death giver no less lol). and then "the hound is dead" but he is "revived" by a monk-like figure and becomes a literal grave digger.. almost like hes digging graves for all the people he has killed before, maybe its also like hes serving the stranger in a way. death has become from a violent act to a quiet state of being for him at this point of the story

also i like that he dies and starts over with a different identity figuratively while his brother dies literally and comes back with a different name( if you can call it coming back)..

i dont exactly know what to make out of this as a whole because i was having seperate thoughts but i love that its there and always loved the The Stranger part to his character.

i wish i could explain just how much i love painting people

it makes you really actually look at them and see how beautiful they are

the way their eyes reflect the light (my favourite thing is painting those little highlights in the eyes, it makes them feel so much more alive instantly)

all the little and not so little wrinkles telling a story of their life on this earth

those little scars they might have gotten as a kid doing dumb kid things

their smirks and their little and big smiles with all their perfect imperfections

the way the light gets caught in their eyelashes

that little highlight on the tip of their nose

all the little asymmetries

sometimes you get to stare at their eyes for a long while and you get a feeling like you can see behind them

sometimes you can see something wistful in their eyes, sometimes it's mischief, sometimes it's something else, but there's always something even when you can't tell what it is

and hair. i love painting hair. i love the way it catches the light and i love all the little wayward strands, they're my favourite to paint

and i could talk about the hands for hours but i think we can all agree that hands are beautiful anyway

i mostly paint people i don't know, but for a little bit, while I'm painting them, i feel like i get to know them a little. idk if that makes sense. and idk if that's weird xD but people can be magical and i love them

im gonna get a bit personal here which. i honestly HATE doing cause this place is meant to be my happy place in a way, and i don’t like letting super personal stuff leak on here. but i just need to dump some stuff

the way this community.. the way this character, venture, has genuinely contributed to my mental state feeling so much better, and also just giving me a place where i really feel like i belong, amazes me so much but makes me so happy.

this past year has been absolute hell for me. my ex partner of 2 years had been cheating on me during most of the duration of us dating, leaving me absolutely heartbroken and distraught. my mental health was already struggling, with me dealing with nasty thoughts that i’d rather not go into detail about here, and that just added on to the disgusting mass that was already there. in general though, i was just a depressed anxious mess, masking and pretending to be someone i wasn’t for whats felt like forever now.

but then venture came out, and as cheesy and corny as it sounds, the character has really helped. not only do i relate to them a lot, but they also just make me feel safe.. they give me motivation to keep trying, and also just make me feel less insecure. (theres a bunch of other reasons but i could make an essay out of all that shit 😭) and when i read all the sweet comforting content this community has to offer, and also just how warm and welcoming everyone is,, god it helps even more :((

i guess all i really wanna say is, thank you to everyone whos been so sweet to me here. especially to those who are close to me who’s motivated me to show my creativity more here, like my girlfriend and some of my closest friends. and ofc, thank you to that silly sweet little goober, venture for being probably one of the best comfort characters ive had in a while <33

This is a dumb question but how do you do your lighting? I see people doing what seems to be just a flat color in a world space, but when I try to replicate it the whole piece looks either too dull or too bright.

Not a dumb question, but I don't use lighting at all in my renders!

Any "shading" you see on my models is part of the materials and done manually as part of my texturing process, you can see how I do my materials here or check out my general 3D advice tag here.

Essentially 99% of my textures are just a single RGB value or a gradient between mutiple values, and they aren't affected by lighting in any way.

I think they're cool! Their designs are great and I love that they're a couple shitty nobles from up-hive, playing cultist and eating people for fun. Fatshark is great at making charming characters

I hope we get more big boss fights or other activities that require really tight teamwork like that. Even my Auric-only squad had to sweat for this.
