yet another oc that only exists because i wanted to write something very specific
(middle is a little older, hence her scar healing. i like to think she gets a glass eye at some point)
anyway this is mira! (they/she) since that wip is almost 20k words and counting i won’t give away too much but long story short she’s the result of meta going “one last time, i promise” and adopting yet another kid
also galaxia kinda indirectly picked the name :)
i’ve mentioned before that i headcanon that pretty much all astrals are autistic and this is just kinda an extension of that. whereas meta tends to suppress his emotions and conform to others, mira…doesn’t. she gets uncomfortable and upset and lashes out at people easily, and working through their emotions is no small task.
the main reason i chose to write them that way was for the sake of narrative but i’ve grown attached to it because there’s a lot of ideas there i’d like to explore. stuff about navigating emotions and relationships when existing is so suffocatingly uncomfortable. it’s not something i could center around Kirby himself, but i think it makes sense with a post character development meta knight.
they are very loved (omg oldee cameo???)
kirby was definitely very excited to have younger siblings after being used to being the youngest in the room for so long!! (with the like. one and only exception being gooey.) he’s super affectionate with both of them and wants to have a close relationship one day, but for now mira is pretty unappreciative of that fact lol. they don’t like being pestered for hugs
everyone else is okay tho
(i know that’s hard to read. oops. “obvious bite marks”. siblings being siblings.)
mira also has a very love/hate relationship with the egg kid, being so close in age they kinda Have to get along but in typical sibling nature they also fight a lot. sure it’s probably rough for a while but i think in the end they’d be good buddies. maybe not as close as Kirby and Bandee but still.
anyway i have a lot of thoughts and am very busy but. i’m really enjoying writing about all this lately it’s been fun ^^

You asked for a fic rec so I’ll toss this one at ya: https://archiveofourown.org/works/46767358?view_full_work=true Stick through the formatting for the characterization, tone, and really the whole vibe of this fic. I haven’t been able to get the bathroom call between Daigo and Majima out of my head for weeks since I read it with how naturally it all flows. My own little Daigo characterization booklet to review when I feel like I need a refresher on him.
so I may have stayed up until 6am reading this (would’ve slept earlier but I couldn’t stop reading it) and hgggahaghhhhaggahshhhhhhhh that was one of the most well-characterized fics I’ve ever read what the fuck. like the differences in how each character speaks (both tone-wise and in differing levels of authenticity) and how they speak to specific others (the daigo and majima dyanmic specifically- how they actually take into account how long they’ve been working really closely- SO good), the mental anguish and chaos vs the overwhelming emptiness of being daigo dojima but no longer The 6th Chairman Daigo Dojima……….I could keep going but I think you get it.
tbh I’d been wanting to write something exploring a similar set of dynamics/situation (post-kiryu’s fake death, interactions with haruka, daigo, and/or majima specifically, reflecting on his shortcomings while acknowledging the heavy Grief left behind) but now I’m like. well I still could but this was so well written in regards to daigo and haruka that, as far as something between those two goes, I don’t feel the need to.
thanks for the recommendation! my brain is broken now (affectionate)

I'm still trying to untangle how groupchat telepathy mission comms work in my lore. And specifically how it works with autonomous warframes and thus with my OCs
The start of it is that standard warframes can communicate with each other over short distances (say, a couple kilometres). Not verbally since they aren't supposed to have the sapience for shitall but they can transmit signals such as warnings, call for assistance, or what specific types of hostiles are around. They can also send out pings searching for other warframes in the vicinity
They do all this without operator input or interaction, on a completely different level from operator comms. It's also innate and thus a Lot Faster. One frame sending a "proceed with caution" signal to another and that frame's operator subconsciously picking up on it is Much faster and smoother than one operator picking up on something, identifying it as important, and verbalising this to another operator, who will then also need to react
Operator comms are a completely separate network from this and include long distance connections to mission control/potential other incoming transmissions. Warframes also receive data from the same mission control connection (e.g. some HUD data) but it's routed through their operators
But the way things are done in my group and probably in general in groups involving Warframes As People, is that the whole system is rebuilt from the ground up. And by ground i mean the Warframe Local Network. The whole system uses that as framework and thus innately includes both warframes and their operators and completely does away with the hierarchy, and allows all speaking participants equal access to mission control (even if there's data only warframes can interpret)
Somatic implants double as receivers and transmitters for this kind of stuff, so technically operators can Always receive private or group communications like this regardless of transference status. By the nature of things, North is the only one without this since they don't have somatic implants, meaning they need to be in active transference connection with Higgins to use him as a receiver/transmitter instead
This stuff is v convenient during missions but isn't used Much outside of it by the operators bc it takes energy/brain space to keep up and you need to actively establish a link for it every time since no one wants to have a constant group chat in their brain. So socially it's the equivalent of leaning in close and whispering to someone. Normally talking to someone all verbal speech and sign instead
The warframes however do all this a lot more easily and simply, so they chat via this scifi telepathy frequently, usually in temporary one-on-one channels
