Things Fandoms do to you

So @misstrips and I have a nice little DC/Pokemon AU thing going with a splash of Vagrant Story and today as I was suffering the heat and welding together an after burner for a smaller sized crematory I had the thought of Jason, Roy and Sydney from that cross over ending up in Genshin Land.

You see the thing is Roy grew up in the Titans. The original Titans you know, with Dicky boy. And Short Pants was a feral monster with a smile that made you forget about the blood on his knuckles and the steel in his pixie toed boots. Roy was putting his arrows through people's joints before he could *roll* a joint, and he was there for all the stupid shit a bunch of teenagers with little parental oversight and way too much hero worship for their 'mentors' got into from orgies to war crimes to alien war crime orgies. He was there right at the start when they had to actually *vote* for the worst mentor in the League, before it became Ollie's official unofficial title for all time.

And he was there when Jason became Robin and the feral Dicky grew up and mellowed out and turned all that anger into a more positive 'I'm gonna big brother so hard Bruce chews his face off' direction, because what the Bats have is complicated and messy and a bit incestious at times but Bruce *started out* trying to be Dicky's big brother. Not his father. And then he *adopted* Jason. And none of the assholes ever sat down and actually talked about any of it.

But Jason was a good kid up until the whole thing in Africa. And now he's a feral monster of a vigilante and a half decent guy the rest of the time. Still an overly dramatic theater kid like, living undeadish proof that you can beat a kid to death with a crowbar and a bomb but you can't make him give up the *drama*.

Roy is an old hand with feral Gothamites though. He's got this. Between him and Lian they've got their gun loving muscle man on something of an even keel.

But then there's Sydney.

See Dick and Jay, they're feral. Domesticated species that went off the rails and have to be treated with care and respect until they remember that warm homes and hot baths and regular meals are all good things they can have. Sydney is wild. Sydney was never domesticated. Sydney has to be shown, and convinced, and reassured over and over that living inside walls is safe, that food he didn't gather himself isn't poison, that clothes are actually a requirement for dealing with humans. That humans are worth dealing with. Sydney will probably never *be* domesticated, but in a pinch and with some hard bribery he can fake it long enough for a pokemon tournament, or a trip through town, or even one time a visit to Lian's daycare.

And humans are just smart enough to look at Roy's wicked grin and Jason's bulging muscles and decide this is trouble they don't want to bother with most days, but Sydney tends to evade direct notice. He looks like a kid. He sounds like a kid. If you don't stare into pokemon crimson eyes and realize there's something completely inhuman staring back, you might be forgiven for accepting the evidence that Sydney is a kid.

Which is why when the three of them stumble out of the sudden wormhole in the woods, onto a perfectly picturesque dirt roadway leading to a city straight out of one of Lian's story books, Jason curses and Roy sighs. Because Roy was a Titan and this isn't his first alternate dimension, and Jason's been worse places. They aren't that troubled.

Until the guy with the huge sword and his friend in the eye patch give them the usual once over, stop at Sydney staring at a glowing little roadside statue, and all the alarm bells start ringing. Because they look at Sydney the way people who haven't seen the kid 'squish' Cypher agents, but have heard the horror stories and maybe helped clean up the residues do.

And *that* makes Roy want more explosive arrows.

The truth of Fischl is she's a delusional young lady who got her vision as a child and Oz manifesting back in her early teens led her to start living her life in this delusional paradise she created for herself. It's like Don Quixote except Fischl is willingly living in a fantasy.

I would like to point how back in 1.1 or whatever version, it was implied that Fischl is sort of nuts due to getting her vision and Oz at such a young age. She was almost as young as Diluc when he got his vision. The only problem with Fischl was she didn't have friends as a kid and her favorite novel was the Fischl series. Once she got Oz she realized she could live in that fantasy world she so desperately craved. Ngl, idk if she even remembers her real name (Amy) at this point in time.

I do know this; when I was talking about misunderstanding Fischl in Unreconciled Stars, I should add the context that I had just started playing Genshin, I had rolled Childe but hadn't been to Liyue yet to actually meet him, and between Traveller, Childe's bio and the way Fischl (who I did not own) was written in the event I came to the (incorrect) conclusion that Teyvat somehow ended up full of people from other worlds, or had people that had visited other dimensions.

I'd even chalked up Fischl "breaking character" as just her failing to live up to the Princess act, and I'd assumed that whatever the meteors were caused by would end up related to her somehow. I.... was thus very disoriented when she just ollied out of the event and didn't come back, so I checked her profile on the wiki afterwards and realised what was up. I was kind of disappointed because the meteor storyline turned out to be really lame, so between that and Fischl a) leaving the event early and b) ....well, nothing interesting was done with her, whether she WAS a princess or not.

Honestly, whether or not Fischl really was what she claimed, it's not like it would have made her showing in the event later. I thought it would have been fun to have her meet the Traveller, who takes her at her word because THEY'RE from another world too, is this that unreasonable, only for Fischl to get way out of her depth and get forcefully snapped to reality or have her story crumble around her as the event got more stressful? Her act getting less convincing the more desperate she becomes to put it on because she can't cope with the event getting out of hand? Something that made use of the concept, at least.

I will gladly!! Tell about the ideas i have in mind when conceptualizing Reki!! I’ll make these posts again once im done with the others but here!!

This is long so! Entire mental gymnastics process of Genshin!Reki will be under the cut :}

Okay so first of all, when i do these kinds of stuff, I actually want to incorporate the characters and such instead of relying on general aesthetics, since it makes it more fun trying to think about the talents and such

When I looked at Reki, I immediately thought he was a sword person, okay in this case i really didnt think of it much, I just can see him using a sword than the other weapon types? So that’s what I went with!

As for his vision, I gave him the Pyro Vision. While it fits his color pallette since Reki is red, It also fits his personality since i noticed a lil pattern going on with vision wielders and how their personalities and background connected with their visions. For pyro visions, they are most often seen as passionate, and courageous even. Reki shows clear love for his skateboarding hobby, as well as drawing and creating them even, he’s clearly motivated and loves it!!

Also I used Mondstadt for his origin because the idea of him being under the land of the God of Freedom felt fitting for his character :0

Anyways, moving on to the talents! I admit they were hell to work with because this was the first time i sat down and actually conceptualized this, but it was fun nonetheless!

I absolutely loves the idea of giving him a support dps kit for his attacks, It pays homage to him giving his support and aid to others while also giving it his all. For Cinder Kicks, I based it off Barbara’s Elemental Skill but instead of healing, it would have given you a temporary atk boost (When you unlocked Talent 2) as well as providing room for elemental reactions to deal more dmg to nearby enemies.

Actually, Cinder Kicks had an alternate name called Cinder Ollie, my friend had told me that it would be funny to add in a skating reference to the name and how it references fucking CindeReki in the soon to be posted drama dvd spinoff and I’m CACKLING at the thought

Okay so moving on to his Elemental Burst, Vitality’s Cogs and Ignition. I decided to give more of the mechanic theme in this burst by turning the area where this burst would be activated to show a huge cog that would spin every 2 seconds to deal pyro aoe dmg to enemies, in a way, this represents Reki’s talent and passion for skating, bright and strong.

Now we’re going to the passives, at first for Reki’s passive 3, i thought about giving him a stamina boost or smth to 10% if he’s present in the party, bUT THEN I REMEMBERED THAT THIS MAN CREATES SKATEBOARDS, FOR PEOPLE TO AID THEM, LIKE HOW HE MADE LANGA HIS OWN CUSTOM SKATEBOARD. That resulted in me finalizing his Passive 3 so that he can a 20% chance of refunding a portion when creating weapon ascension materials since it!! fits so much!!!

Passive 2 on the other hand is based of Sucrose’ passive, I made it so that it caters to adding more atk boost and dmg and it would also reference Reki who wouldnt hesitate to help people huee.

Last Passive is basically the stamina idea i had at first for passive 3, where the party’s speed would be boosted for 10% while stamina consumption would be reduced to 10%. This also gives the same reason to Passive 2 so hueee

Now lastly, his constellation! Arbitrium Motus is basically the latin translation to Determination and Movement, the meaning i had for this constellation is that no matter how you feel like you’re dragged down by others or by yourself, you can still push past those negativity and stand with your own feet to continue moving forward.

The first few character posts are going to be on Fischl and Kaeya. I also plan to do a analysis of “We Will Be Reunited” as by request of a friend and the symbolism behind a certain scene in that quest. I think the first actual post on here other than this intro will be discussing the new knowledge about visions dropped in one of Ei’s voicelines that is completely game changing knowledge that threw out a lot of old thoughts and speculation we had on how people are granted visions

If I talk about Kaeya a lot on this blog my most humble of apologies since he’s someone I think about really often + never shut up about. I just find him a very complex character :)
