Hey I'm attached to this side AU with da overseas AU as reference. So I'm going to go do some world building!

But first of all this world building is not connected safe waves at all! Safe waves is completely separate AU and was made not using the sun and moon show as a base (although some similarities do exist).

You could also see this is a world building for @artoutoftheblue's overseas and other AUs using overseas as inspiration. but those are not my AUs, I'm just going to add some world building to them so they all can fit better as a universal world.

So at some point in time humans decided they were going to mess with genetics and started making mermaids. Starting with the overseas KC, foxy, and others. These merman were kept in closed off oceans or large aquariums as they were still technically under experimentation. Seeing how well the man-made creations lived and behaved. But as you see thers creatures got bigger they were harder and harder to keep from the public eye. Eventually either through passerby drivers or by Google camera, rumors of these giant beasts spread around. Eventually a believer group turned into an actual research / rescue group. This group defended the mers and demanded that They should be released. Whatever government they had agreed with them. The lab of course did not agree with this but they kept their mouth shut.

At this point there are two groups The lab group and the research group.

Most of the Mers are either slowly released or release at once. Unbeknownst to the lab group The mers were parthenogenesis (able to create eggs without a partner) and therefore the Mers started to reproduce. Also many of the mers were able to grow too larger sizes due to the available space.

This information makes me wish to explain the world. Mers that could be up to 80 ft need a proper world or that is possible. The world is of course close to the Earth but different. This world is an ocean planet. Having around 89 percent of water instead of Earth's 71. The waters also can be much deeper and yet still create reef like structures. Making what I'm going to call deep reefs.

There are still standard reefs but deep reefs stand where Earths Twilight zone begins. It is then that the waters can go deeper and you find places that are similar to Earth's ocean floor that you can regularly see in documentaries. This extra zone of course is a place that still receives light. That I'm calling the night light zone. This is where most mer live. Is it still has a finite resources to hold such colorful animals without suffocating in the abyss that is below the Twilight zone Which still exists in name, But is now beneath this night light zone.

Given the fact that deep reefs exist It also means the Sun on this planet is a bit stronger. Meaning that the surface is actually extremely hot. But I am not going to concern myself trying to figure out the logistics of how human like aliens even exist on such a surface.

Back to the history. The research group of course tried to keep the mers protected. The lab group still wanted to do many of their experiments. Often either creating mer in the lab again or capturing the now a wild born mer to f### around with. This option of course is what happens to OS blood moon. Also due to the fact that Mers are now known to the public eye their begins to be trophy hunters (This part of the lore I'm digging into @synthcoyote's lore). Meaning that it is common for people to hunt mer on the fly in order to get a kick out of it. This also creates other separate groups.

Some wish to use the mers for entertainment. Others created their own research groups that unfortunately are not well versed in the trade of mer than the original one. Causing situations like in synths world were they naively put all her species in one collective spot instead of going through the trouble of researching in different environments. Causing chaos.

Mers at this point have spread across the globe. creating different species. Most of the time Mers will copycat a specie. How they do this. . . . I don't know, Maybe they breed with said natural species? Creating said subspecies? Perhaps it is just magic. Either way this is how other species of mer exist without human intervention. Such like @madcatdaderpydrawer-blog's mers or @synthcoyote's.

The research group is still trying to control the flow of mer as the lab group are still making and/or toying around with mer. Since the lab group holds a lot more power in the money department they also can get away with doing a lot more stuff. Capturing mer to sell their eggs to aquariums, performing cruel experiments on them to "evaluate" how the wild specie is going, and still creating mer in labs. The poor research group trying to free all mer within these situations.

Blue Moon's Leviathan species (And perhaps also @synthcoyote mer satern species) we're made through such extended dna experimentation. Particularly in the growth hormone department. As the lab scientist wanted to see how big and how fast mer could grow. This also caused Blue Moon species to become cannibalistic just to support their size. But due to the fact that Mer Blue Moon's species grew so exponentially large so fast They had to be released into the deep reefs. Unfortunately the research group they were not made aware of this giant cannibal species that had just been placed into the ocean.

The research group and others like them are of course trying to track and care for the new wild species. The research group of course splits across different oceanic regions. Creating the different areas that different AUs take place. This also separates a research groups and therefore sometimes naive ones are placed over separate regions which cause problems.

My AU has a research group that is fairly competent. As I see it cannon they have tried to tag every mer they can. That way they can track their movement without trapping them to a certain region. All of my mers are born within the ocean. Although at some point I'll probably add some that are lab made other than Blue Moon's parent. Golden red and tempting waters are both the natural species that was first released. Blue Moon is the unnatural Leviathan species. I've already explained Blue Moon's history and lore here before so I'm not going to explain it again.

Point is he should be living in the area just below the night light zone but before the Twilight zone. Basically at the deep end of the deep reefs. Blue Moon does not do this it due to maternal instinct. Believing that he should live in the top layers of the deep reefs area instead of the bottom ones.

The poor research group is desperately trying to tag Blue Moon and drive him into the deeper waters. Blue Moon always either knocks off the tags they place or simply too terrified of boats for them to get close. At this point they have decided to label the area that tempting waters and a golden red live as a protected hazard zone. Seeing that Blue Moon can cause quite a lot of damage to an unsuspecting ship.

You have lived by a very simple rule while on your "last summer" vacation: the best travel recommendations come from dudes that are down bad.

Your tinder has one sentence on it and all your best pics, "in town for the week, looking for fun." So far you've barely had to pay for anything, you've had some of the best food you've ever eaten, gone to the coolest clubs you'd never have found on trip advisor, and gotten laid more than you could've dreamed. At least half of them were pretty good too.

You hover over a profile, over the name "Ghost" and some choice shirtless pics. These types of profiles always go one of two ways: fake or fantastic. You swipe right, if it's fake you'll know quickly. Your phone lights up green. It's a match. Your fingers hesitate before typing out a quick message. He gets to you first.

"Down for some fun this weekend?" You laugh at the eggplant emoji and start typing your response before another message rolls in, "we can walk around/grab drinks before."

You smile a little wider, "what a gentleman."

"Always, gentleman in the streets, wild in the sheets"

"That line work for you?"

"You tell me."

You hate to admit it, but he's funny, and funny works for you. There's something about the way confident guys flirt that really gets you going. Not to mention this sort of confidence tells you the profile is real enough for you to send a loose itinerary of your time in London.

"Drinks on Saturday then," he tells you after a minute. You let your heart flutter a normal amount.

"Where are we going?"

"I'll send you the address, you send me your number."

Alright maybe your heart flutters a little more than normal. You like a man who knows what he wants.

let it be said that tooru’s never claimed to be a guy who handles rejection well. most of the time it’s not enough of a reason to deter him from trying, but there’s always a little part of him that braces himself even in the asking.

so he’s hesitant, (he’s never done this before. he hasn’t even considered all the ways this could go wrong,) but. there’s something about kaien that makes him want to take that risk. it’s a kind of optimistic hope that he’s learned to let go of through the years, and it reaches back for him.

but first we have to set the scene. so, picture this: the air is warm with the scent of freshly baked pastries, the windows frosted over by the remnants of winter’s chill even as the beginnings of spring chases it away. kaien cuts a striking figure with his back resting casually against the counter, his grin piercing straight through tooru’s chest. tooru thinks he may look besotted, but he’s not in a position to judge — the glass display where his reflection sits isn’t what he’s paying attention to at the moment. it’s clichéd, perhaps, but in this snapshot of a moment he only has eyes for kaien.

Was thinking about the Big Bro Mokuba-Little Brother Seto thing again, and realized just how to address WHY Yugi hadn't seen Seto in A While, and it's hilariously anime as fuck: Yugi just fucking left the country for college. Because hell, if he can go from near-bottom of the class to fucking valedictorian, he can sure as hell get some scholarships and get the hell away from everything to recover from the Big Atem Sads(tm).

Then he comes home after that and is immediately scolded by his mother for getting several visible piercings (and maybe one or two that are not). XD

The further push into the counterculture look also adds to Seto's later "oh no he's even more attractive" reaction.

I was able to formulate more ideas about this guy. I am using @artoutoftheblue's overseas AU as a reference.

Sun (golden red) and Moon (tempting waters) are Young adults when they find blue moon's egg. (roughly around 50 ft) They basically formed a brotherly pod. So that once they had eggs they could protect each other. Unfortunately their eggs kept failing to hatch. So when they found a strange large egg left out in the open they decided they would try their luck.

This egg was blue moon. I'm not sure how Blue Moon's parent would work but they were definitely developed in a lab first. Pumped them with a bunch of growth hormones that caused them to be so big that they had to be freed at some point. They had an egg but died searching for food before it hatched.

Blue moons genetics caused it so that he enjoys the taste of mer flesh. And despite tempting waters and golden red's punishments for enjoying such a thing there was nothing they could do to get rid of the natural instinct to hunt mer in Blue Moon. Of course they soon realized they were in over their heads as Blue Moon quickly got bigger.

At some point Blue Moon became so big that he was large as his adoptive parents. (Both probably around 65 ft) Despite the fact that he was only an pup. At this point golden red and tempting waters decided that he was big enough to fend for himself. Still acting as his family, but allowing him to venture off more than what most mers would at his age.

This of course gave Blue Moon a chance to seek out his favorite food without his brother's patronizing him. But he never liked eating his neighbors or friends so he would often venture out far for days at a time before returning.

Once he grew into his adolescence faze (his size roughly around 78 ft) he started getting into boating accidents. His family live in a reef that is quite close to the surface of the ocean. And since he prefers live up with his parents he was unfortunately close enough to the surface for boats to Hit him quite often. This made him hate and fear boats. Often roaring at them from afar. Perhaps even throwing some rocks.

This has caused a research team to come out and try to corral blue moon into deeper waters. But of course every single time they drive him off he comes back. They have not quite figured out why Blue Moon wants to stay in the smaller reef. And since he is destined to grow so big, it's not like they can catch him and throw him an aquarium to get him out of the way.

Blue Moon is based off of a ribbon eel and a leafy sea dragon. Meanings that he's fairly good at camouflage But looks almost mesmerizing when he's swimming. In the beast style sketch he cannot close his mouth. His rays are also more leafy like extensions. Although in artoutoftheblue style he can close his mouth. And the leafy-like extensions look more so like his animatronic self. The fins on his shoulder (beast ) or at the end of his torso (theblue) act as his ribbons are and are the largest leafy extensions he has. His tail is also prehensile, despite the fact that leafy sea dragons do not have this ability their cousins the seahorse do. So he got one anyways. He still is just an adolescent. So his claws haven't quite grown in all the way. Although his bite is still heavily venomous.
