There's something so funny to me about the Pelican Package Pouch trope. If you're an avid Nintendo fan, then you probably remember pelican-esque Pelipper from Pokemon that also delivered mail in the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series. This trope is so old that pelicans are just associated with mail delivery now, even if they don't carry the mail directly in their beaks anymore. That's literal meme evolution in action, I tell ya. Of course, AC, being all about animals, chose to hire a trio of pelicans to run its postal service (or Town Hall desk, depending on which game and who we're talking about) up until New Horizons.

Pelly, Phyllis, and Pete have a ridiculous love...string? going on, in which Pelly crushes on Pete, but Pete pursues Phyllis who doesn't give a damn. It's funny and sad at the same time. Considering pelicans, like many birds, are monogamous, this "going nowhere" love story is just kind of tragic.

Pelicans themselves are really unique birds. Though they share the gular throat patch - in which part of the throat is naked and extendable to come degree - with the other members of Pelecaniformes, like ibises, herons, and the shoebill, they certainly have the most obvious one. Pelicans belong to the Family Pelecanidae, which includes the 8 species of pelican in Genus Pelecanus.

As for the trio from AC, I'm pretty certain they are just cartoon pelicans, as many of the NPCs are. But that's no fun. So, the closest species I could find would be the Great White Pelican (Pelecanus onocrotalus), native to Europe and Africa. What's neat about this species is that some individuals do come in an obviously "pink" shade. Wouldn't you know it, they are also called the "Rosy Pelican". So, that species fits all three of our AC pelicans, and thank goodness, considering the love-string.

Pelicans are very large, coastal birds. Some of them will dive from great height to ambush fish underwater, others will dive and pursue, and others, like the Great White Pelican, scoop up fish from the surface. This species will work with other members of its species to corral fish so they all get a meal. No matter how they do it, the biggest pelicans can hold about three gallons of water in their pouch at a time. However, they don't use this big pouch to store anything at all. Their feeding strategy is to encircle prey in their giant mouth and scoop it up. Then, it drains the water out of its pouch before swallowing its prey. Prey is *usually* fish, but other aquatic animals and sometimes other things that fit in the pouch, like other birds, get caught this way. So, yeah, they certainly aren't going to deliver anything, and yet the trope remains.

And there you have it. Fascinating stuff, no?

Haven't drawn anyone from Hoenn Braves in a while outside of reference updates, so here we go. This is riiiight when Sapphire's been reawakened and is in her Primal form, and the rainstorm resulting from this is absolutely NUTS. And it's only gonna get worse if no one does something to try and calm her. Pelly, being a former member of Team Aqua, is super freaked out because this is what she and her former teammates were working toward and it's so much worse than any of them had imagined. Meanwhile Sally, who was former Team Magma, had a feeling this was going to go this way, so while she's not freaking out she's obviously still gonna be concerned.

More reference updates with Hoenn Braves! Had fun figuring out their prevo looks, ‘specially with Sierra. Included a jacket for Kaoru for the purposes of drawing him in “no shoes no shirt no service” situations, and also if anyone else wants to draw him but is uncomfortable with drawing someone shirtless.

I also felt bad about the one other time I drew Juniper in Mega form he was just really angry and stuff, but at that time I wanted to convey that the transformation to him was particularly painful, moreso than it is with Sierra, Manny, and Sally (and also Michelangelo, whenever I get to Ami Peloton). Hell, after a certain point his Sceptilite gets cracked to the point of being unusable due to plot details I’m not giving away just yet, not like he’s complaining about it :P

Gotta Catch 'em All Challenge progress: PokéDex: 61/178* Badges: 5 1% Encounters: Too many in this game why are there so many in Hoenn I don't get it Brawly wasn't too bad the 2nd time, Wattson was a joke thanks to Skippy evolving into Marshtomp, and I didn't have to take too terribly long with some of the more rare encounters (save for Volbeat which was a pain). However, comma, Flannery kicked my ass, and I just barely won. I ran out of power points on Skippy's Mud Shot, so the Torkoal basically ran me over with Body Slams and Overheat. Not even Pelly, a Pelipper now, could stand it. If this were a Nuzlocke, it would've been a sad day. Norman wasn't too bad. Beat everybody with Foley (now a Breloom). So now I'm just trying to clean up loose ends so I've caught everything I can in western Hoenn. Currently stuck trying to find Electrode, but apparently they're all lv. 26, so thankfully I have my lv. 26 Kirlia, Moody, who still knows Teleport for easy escapes. (Mostly kept Teleport on him because I don't get Fly for a while.) While Voltorb and Magnemite can also still be found, at least I'll have a bit of an easier time flushing Electrode out. Managed to get a Magneton that way. Once I do find it, I'll resurrect the Anorith fossil I picked up in the desert, check to see if there's anything else I can get to, and then move on towards Fortree. *Side note: Just before posting this, I ran into and caught Electrode. So now I'm up to 62/178.

Helmaroc: after the Helmaroc, birds from Legend of Zelda. (Children can ride in pelipers mouth and the Helmaroc King kidnaps kids)

I don't know enough about The Elder Scrolls to know exactly how wrong this is, but I didn't see the wiki mention the Council of the Five anywhere in relation to the College of Winterhold. Also, Lyris is a woman and probably not related to a Pokemon.

At least the part about the bounty is somewhat accurate to Pokemon lore.
