🌸 Things of AOT impressed me 🌸 1. All the birthdays of the main characters are connected to different dates of cultural importance, like, for example, Levi's birthday, which is December 25, Christmas day. But in Marco's case, he hides a dark secret, his birthday is June 16, which happens to be exactly the middle of the year, which hints at the character's own death. 2. In addition to a theme park, they also brought out other products, such as perfumes of each character, Levi, has a fresh scent that reminds of soap, Armin's has a pure vanilla scent and Hange's smells like a mysterious and bitter herb. 3. The story of the titans has its roots in Norse mythology, in the Viking tradition there were several separate kingdoms as well as the walls, as history progresses the gods built a wall against the giants and when Ragnarok happens, the giants break down the wall and kill the gods, which is what happens at the beginning of the anime. 4. Levi's name is of Hebrew origin and means "union" and the surname derives from the German name "Ackermann" which means country man. 5. Mikasa's red scarf may be a reference to the red thread of fate, which in Japanese folklore represents an unbreakable connection between soulmates or lovers. 6. Speaking of the scarf, in the manga it was initially black. 7. Levi seems to have a fondness for black tea and it has been confirmed that Levi would have liked to open his own tea shop. 8. Levi sleeps an average of 2 to 3 hours a day and usually does so in a chair, even the author states that if he had to say something to Levi it would be: "Go to sleep now!" 9. Speaking of sleep, Annie, she has a habit of talking in her sleep, sometimes muttering the sound “wush”, specifically when she dreams of practicing kicking trees. 9. Both Levi and Hange, if they had to be of a real nationality, they would be French. 10. Gabi's physique comes from a sketch Isayama made of a female version of Eren. 11. In a question and answer session, he was asked about Levi's preferred type of woman, to which he replied that probably since he is short, he likes tall people. 12. All the titans that form the walls measure exactly 50 meters. 13. To design Annie's updo, Isayama was influenced by a photo of Avril Lavigne.

I know you already did a tutorial on how to draw Reiner, but I can't ever get his head shape, eyes, and nose right. Am I going crazy? Or is he just an incredibly hard character to draw?
Hi anon!! I’m about a month late on this ask (and the backlog of others) but I finally had a bit of time to draw this out. Reiner is difficult to draw because his face is so angular, but it’s easier when you study his features or try to simplify them. I am pretty inconsistent when I draw Reiner, but the following is what I try to keep in mind.
As @sookashira said in my stream the other night, Reiner is Dreamy and Geometric ™.I highly recommend taking a look at references of Isayama’s art, the anime, and real life folks with strong jawlines/cheeks/facial features for help.
Tumblr media
Here’s a link to my last mini tutorial for him (oh man uh… this doesn’t look good now, haha)
Putting this under a cut because it’s long:
Let’s start with eyes.
Reiner’s eyes are very angular with a rectangular/rhombus shape, and fairly small (compared to Eren or other anime characters). You can stylize them as you want - curved, thinner, more square - as long as the basic pointed shape is there. Another defining feature are his eyebrows/brow bone. You can draw them as a single line/pretty-much-nonexistent, or add some thickness towards the inner part to imply he has some hair. They angle up sharply about 1/3 to ½ of the way along his eye, and the brow bone/eyelash stretches from the outer corner of his eyes and meets the end of the eyebrow.
Tumblr media
It’s up to you how you wanna draw them. I take cues from both the anime and Isayama’s style, as well as other artists that I like. The anime style smooths out the lines quite a bit and has a rounder shape to it, whereas Isayama is much more rectangular (and boy has he been drawing Reiner’s eyes so nicely recently, really handsome).
Tumblr media
For expressions, I try and exaggerate the shape of the eye without losing the form.
Tumblr media
Next for Reiner’s nose, I think a lot of the 3d shape when I draw it. The bump in the bridge is important!! but I’ve seen people draw just a big triangular schnoz and it looks fine too. It’s all up to your style.
Tumblr media
As for his facial shape, I like to emphasize the brow bone, his high and defined cheek bones, and strong jaw. I usually end up redrawing and erasing chunks on my sketches until it looks “right,” but this is a good place to look at photo references to see how to place the features.
Tumblr media
And that’s about it! Now you can join me in crying and yelling in frustration when trying to draw Reiner. :)

do armin's parents have names??? if they don't we should choose their names 4 them
Haha, I haven’t seen anything about their names yet! They’re about to get mentioned in my university AU Jearmin fic “Copy-Room Romance”, and I named them Michael and Linnea lol. I dunno if those names work so well in the SnK canonverse though. What do you all think?
It’s kinda lucky for me that Isayama provided sketches of them, now I can use them as a reference when talking about Armin’s family photos :)
Thanks for the note anon!

Wowza ok today is shitty I'm just gonna rant for a bit and hope the people mentioned don't see this Okay so my and the fan went to Portland today and we went to OMSI and the pedestrian bridge. They took out all the good shit at OMSI and then on the pedestrian bridge my big sister took all these cute photos. I tried to take one and I asked her to take one of me. She then proclaimed I need to stop squinting to I can actually look cute like her. So I did; and she still stated I'm not pretty. I know that okay? I know I'm not pretty, or talented, it sweet, or funny, or kind. And then my new necklace broke. I come back and see the art Trina posted YESTERDAY has over 100 notes and complements because Isayama reblogged and complemented it, where as the one shit I posted at least a week ago ( https://cause-their-not-coming-back.tumblr.com/post/159001111528/hi-mama-i-was-wondering-if-you-wanted-to-read-a ) only has 102 notes, and only because it was sent in an ask to Isayama. And even Isayama said it was confusing and it was still off. On top of that, the art piece Trina did was like a quick sketch, when that one shot took four hours because I wanted it perfect. I'm just negative rn I'm going to go.

New Isayama Hajime Sketch Commemorates 30th Anniversary of Hajime no Ippo
The latest issue of Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine includes various sketches commemorating the 30th anniversary of the publication’s flagship series, Hajime no Ippo - including one of main character Makunouchi Ippo by Isayama Hajime! Isayama also drew his signature chibi Mikasa throwing punches.
In his written quote next to the illustration, Isayama states:
“Morikawa-sensei 30th Anniversary Congratulations!! The reason why Hajime no Ippo's artwork has been such a tour de force is because it animates all the essential "perceptions of proximity" that are involved with close combat fighting techniques, and it continues to convey them throughout the manga. After 30 years, no other work can surpass Hajime no Ippo in my mind - no other manga can throw bigger punches.”
Isayama’s Kodansha editor Kawakubo Shintaro has previously revealed that at the beginning of Isayama’s career, he was asked to redraw many panels of Hajime no Ippo in order to improve his depiction of action sequences.
