Hey, fellow Malkavian players/lovers playing Vampire: the Masquerade 5th edition:

They have finally added what, imo, was the best power in Dementation to V5! Eyes of Chaos!

For those unfamiliar, Eyes of Chaos is basically the ability for Malks to glean information by staring at things - scribbled incoherent graffiti on a wall, a crime scene, a quilt, the swirl of ash around the remains of a vampire, or anything, really. Typically, it can be random, revealing hidden patterns that, through the network or Malkav's blood, can provide information. Not necessarily information that's useful, of course. And while sometimes it can be used with a mere glance, other times it can take nights seemingly obsessing over something before a pattern is understood.

I've had so much fun with this power in past. It's like... pure Malk energy, and it can be really fun to rp or just add to a character's behavior in downtime. Depending on how an ST runs it, Eyes of Chaos can be really...well, chaotic. Like, a Malk stares at a bootprint in the mud, trying to determine if it was left by the SI or is important. An hour later, the now enlightened Malk informs his coterie or pack that if chickens could ever master flight over long distances, we'd all be doomed. Or that Saulot is awake and has taken over Tremere's body. Or that mud is an illusion.

For some reason, Eyes of Chaos for V5 only exists in the Sabbat antagonist book (for now), but nothing about it is tied solely to Sabbat. I took a screenshot of its entry.

I fully encourage any and all STs and Malk players to add this to their games. I also strongly suggest this is a Malk-only power and cannot be learned by those who don't have Malk blood.

plot one: muse a, a resourceful petty thief, has just been released after a four year prison sentence for the murder of their partner, which they did not commit. just before they were killed, muse a's partner revealed to them the location of a safety deposit box, containing evidence of corruption carried out by a wealthy businessman whose goons then committed the real murder before framing muse a. muse b unknowingly works for the corrupt businessman and is engaged to his heir with a wedding rapidly approaching. now, they are tasked with ensuring that muse a leaves town now that they're out of prison. muse a begs muse b to help clear their name of murder accusations and get to the safety deposit box, something muse b reluctantly agrees to even though they are in the midst of a wedding rush among other errands set upon them by their underhanded boss. muse a and muse b begin falling for each other, complicating things even further, while neither of them yet realize their ties to the same man. (inspired by the 1987 film 'who's that girl'. i can explain this better if need be! i tried to condense it as much as possible.)

plot two: muse a and muse b have been together for four long years, and just as they thought things were progressing to the next level, a huge fight ends their relationship. the only problem is that they're both on pretty tight budgets, so neither of them can afford to move out of the apartment they share together right now. an awkward bridge forms between them as the forced time together makes them start reminiscing about the good times and whether they really want to throw it all away.

I have a question when Hector and Arnie find out about Isaiah’s past will the leave their pack and join Isaiah’s?

Hey!!!

That is a very good and interesting question and a legitimate option. There is even an RP alternate timeline for this story going on with my writing partner, where Arnie stays living with Isaiah for a long while.

But while the reveal will be quite the earth-shaking experience for all brothers, I don't see Hector leaving the pack leadership path. He wants to be the leader, he likes to be competitive and in charge and wolf leaders have to be able to stand down being challenged over and over again, which is the kind of stress not everybody is made for. But Hector likes it and values it and it fits him, so I don't see him changing that goal for himself.

The pack itself ain't bad, it was the Father and the leadership. The Wolfsons are currently led by Isaiah's uncle, Grayson (whose family I wanted to introduce way back during Christmas ooops) that is doing a good job and all. The systematic bad influences from Isaiah's father Vincent and the fact it's a secret is a bit problemtic, but otherwise...I can see Hector being the one who actually changes the direction of that pack, and it's one hell of powerful influential international branches all over Europe pack, that can in turn inspire a lot of other packs by their example.

As for Arnie, this kid is still figuring himself out, but he wants to be powerful as a human for wolves and for himself and for Hector and his insight into human psyche is exactly the kind that Hector lacks. Hector is not a people person lol, he is love me or hate me, Idgaf. Arnie can be mouthy and prickly, but he gets people. It could be very useful if these two joined forces (but we are still far away from that one and I'm leaving it open for change, just in case).

Now Isaiah would love to have his brothers back, but they don't necessarily have to be a pack for this. Besides, don't think Hector could take not being a leader, brother or not and Isaiah is very proud and excludes lots of pack leader energy that would clash, if they were to stay in the same pack structure. Separate packs solve this nicely.

Now Isaiah wouldn't make a bad leader in my opinion, but not in his opinion lol. He is too scared to be trusted with power (bc Vincent's training) to be part of or to build a bigger pack, he liked being alone and he likes being in a very equal more friendship based pack of his own (current) design. Though he is still looking for a way to harmonise his diplomatic role in the city, new pack challenges, science profession and his meddling and training of pups...that will be a plotty point later on (he is too powerful and too much of my fave to stay out of influential positions I'm afraid 😂).

Hemlocke:

Former Ishgardian noble who’s come to Eorzea searching for a specific black mage cult. A workaholic - Hemlocke is usually busy with bartending or working off his debt to the Thaumaturge guild. Confident and reckless, you’ll rarely find him without a smirk on his face no matter what situation he's facing. A mysterious elezen who's easy to talk with but difficult to truly know. Unfortunately, his supernatural constitution affects his ability to wield magic effectively, and he's likely one of the worst cooks you'll ever met. Hemlocke has a pet bat named Bruce.

Dr Arazul De'Fleur:

A renowned doctor born of the De’Fleur family of Old Sharlayan - quiet, enigmatic and calculating. Like his father, he excels in medical practice and alchemy. A run in with the Garlemald empire and surviving Black Rose changes the course of his life forever. He awakes with an odd mark over his eye, silver hair and lips stained with a purple hue proving remnants of the poison lingers, unbalancing his aether. Worst of all, he develops a ‘Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde personality’. Will he ever find a way to cure himself completely?

Seiro Malkavi:

A WoL and a skilled hunter of the Dotharl clan from the Azim Steppe. His stoic demeanor hides a softer interior, unable to ignore a cry for help. He's honest, straightforward and generally warms up to others quickly. After a tragic incident involving a friend of the Mol clan and in disagreements about war, Seiro leaves his homeland to become an adventurer. The lust for battle and desire for stronger opponents consume all sense from him, and he finds the thrill of the fight in hunting monsters.

Cerys La'Sorciere:

An eccentric sorceress from the Churning Mists who wields a powerful command over the elements and plant life. She has a knowledge of herbal remedies and potions. Merciless to her enemies and seen as a trickster to many – At her core, Cerys carries an ancient secret that none would believe. Unwelcomed in Ishgard, she is the last of the long line of the La’sorciere family whom have made the mists their home for many decades. She allies herself with the Moogle tribe, dragons and the RedBills.

Amaranth Vyce:

A Dhampir priest in training from Ishgard. Trained from his youth at the orphanage, Amaranth primarily fights against the packs of the feral undead and aids Hemlocke when he can. He seems cold, vicious and detached, but he truly doesn't want to harm anyone unless he has to. One of his strengths is the strong connection to spirits and ability to see/talk to them. As a dhampir, he naturally struggles with less than priestly thoughts and hopes fervent prayer to the fury will overcome this.

oh heres aura lore + Angel and Taqqiq rp lore + Raptor and Jack rp prequel lore @castiels-destiny

Aura was born as Storm (?) in the Mountain Pack, and he had a best friend named Lightning. Long story short, his friend betrayed him and framed him of a murder, and Aura kills him, but then gets killed by another wolf in his pack.

They become a spirit wandering around the spirit world, seeking revenge on Lightning, and meets a group of powerful spirits that take him as their apprentice, and he gets more and more powerful, and leaves once his apprenticeship is done, tracking down Lightning and fighting and killing him.

They fight Angel in the spirit world, and they fight for some reason? It was dumb, but Angel beats him and gets another chance at life, as Aura and Angel were like the top two most powerful spirits, eventually starting at the house where Taqqiq met Angel

However, Aura has to face the Trials of Death (lmao it was kinda based on the Hercules myth) and through one of his trials, they help Talon escape his eventual doom in the lab, of which Harpy had a vision of. Aura gets to return to his pack in the mortal realm, but time has passed and he doesn’t know anyone, leaving to help other wolves, and defeat his rival, Angel, whenever they would meet. (they meet again (aura talon and harpy were together and met them) in the Angel and Taqqiq rp first part, but this is wayyy later)

Aura adopts a pup named Blizzard! And he also hangs out with Talon and Harpy sometimes, im pretty sure they live together

They find Taqqiq (when she was a young fox pup) I think? but she runs from them cause she has trauma with wolves, as a pack had killed her parents and was on her tail, and she escapes to Angel’s house, which she didn’t know he was there

LOTS of stuff happened in the Angel and Taqqiq rp and 90% of it was on my old account sadly and in the server i met my friend in, which the channel got deleted (other than auras backstory)

pretty sure my friends oc Angel’s lore has changed a lot but in the recent Raptor and Jack rp there were the Holy Three, Jack, Angel, and Ghale (all my friend’s ocs) that were basically demigods, but Angel disappeared because he was fighting Aura

Aku looked up from the little Darumaka that was steadily letting off a stream of protests to the young lady standing above her. It was only then that she started coming back to the real world enough to consider the position she was in. Where was she? Where had she come off to? And as she blinked up at the other, a bit of blood began rolling down the side of her face from somewhere beneath her bangs.

"Oh, hello,” Aku chirped politely, despite being covered in scrapes and burns. “We were practicing. I’m sorry, are we not supposed to be here? We might’ve gotten a little carried away back there, but he’s fine now, see?”

She took the round pokemon in her arms and lifted him up to show him off to the other, and delighted by the motion he waved his arms. Even for a Darumaka, this one was particularly small, but that didn’t seem to reflect in his power at all. Even though he hadn’t evolved, he was quite the trained up little powerhouse. And like his trainer, he didn’t seem at all weary of the stranger he was facing or feel protective at all. Either they were both confident in their abilities to protect themselves, or they were both so empty-headed that they didn’t realize the situation they were in.

And based on Aku’s cluelessness, it would be easy to reach the latter conclusion…

“It took a few, but I got him some potions and he’s all better,” Aku continued, rocking the Darumaka in her hands like a doll.

This woman was clueless, wasn’t she? Didn’t she even bother to think that normal humans would be burnt alive by a Flare Blitz? With a sigh -- a deep one -- Ashe shakes her head and rubs her temples. Lowering said hand, she takes a moment to look towards the person before her now. Said woman wasn’t supposed to be here for reasons obvious and she was prepared to have her Mismagius which was lurking in her shadows wipe her memories and see her off, but the blood had her concerned.

Looking to Miraidon... Pollux as he was nicknamed, the pokemon gave a mechanical trilled ‘Giiiias’ at her.

“Query: What will be done with this human?” He asked to which Ashe sighed. “Might as well get her cleaned up first. We don’t want the blood rousing up the Pack.” With that, she looked to Lucky who approached then, gently wrapping a ribbon around Aku’s arm. ‘This way.’ His voice was loud and clear and inviting on top of that... and there was a very unusual aura being let out by everyone now -- something that wasn’t entirely human. “Come with us back to the house. After we tend to the blood, you can be on your way.”

Fae abilities were being used, and if anyone knew the Fairfolk, it was a way of ‘spiriting away’ someone... however, for Ashe it was all about the safety of the ranch -- especially for pokemon like the one who appeared to be a robotic dragon-type behind her.

what even is the tma Annie lore I'm curious now

god. okay. so like. annie was the child of two avatars from rival cult families, newt crane, a web avatar, and lamia wright, a hunt avatar. from birth to the age of 11 she was largely kept hidden from the outside world due to the danger of either of her parents' families harming her, leading an extremely sheltered life. unfortunately at the age of 11 newt's family got sick of his shit and had him and his wife killed by a stranger avatar who erased newt from existence, impersonated him in order to infiltrate his home, terrorized annie for a couple of months and then died fighting their mom, who realized it wasn't her husband when it tried to kill their child. annie was supposed to be killed with them, but they survived, so they were taken in by the cranes, who didn't really want anything to do with them and considered them an inconvenience but couldn't easily have them killed off due to the media and true crime attention the death of their parents attracted. they ended up alternately neglecting annie and tormenting him, since they're an avatar family and he was a convenient source of easy fear.

annie escaped when he turned 18 and was legally able to inherit his parents' will and become independent, and briefly spent some time poking around the magnus institute trying to learn what really happened to his parents, since he knew it wasn't an ordinary occurence and, despite being heavily traumatized and suffering from a cocktail of mental health issues that led to a lot of people dismissing her insistence that her parents were killed by some kind of monster, didn't believe the widely accepted story that newt murdered his wife and attempted to murder his child before fleeing and never being found (because, well, she was there. it happened to her.). this led to her only becoming even more paranoid and traumatized by the knowledge that the supernatural does, in fact, exsit, and it wants to eat you so bad.

annie's family, the cranes, started getting sick of annie's shit like they did with newt at this point, so annie, in an attempt to avoid sharing their parents' fate, faked their death and ran away to america, where they ended up joining the usher foundation, another paranormal research institute (this is where the rp server i made them for started). through a series of increasingly unfortunate and messy events, annie developed latent desolation avatar powers that had been lying dormant since their highly traumatic and difficult childhood; made some friends through trauma bonding; got one of said friends killed and turned into a monster (eye avatar) while attempting to protect her from the other side of his family, the wrights, who turned out to have been hunting annie's coworker's family for generations in order to perform an everchase ritual (small world); briefly lost all of their friends because of this and got trapped in the lonely due to their guilt and self loathing causing them to self isolate; sacrificed himself to the desolation in the lonely and finally became a fully fledged avatar; met a paranormal investigator named raz (who is my beloved's oc) and accompanied him to a haunted meat packing plant where they saved each other from a rampaging ghost bull; developed a crush on raz after he stood between her and the bull that rapidly turned into hypercodependent devotion; went into the spiral to rescue him when he got eaten by it one time; started a relationship together; nearly died in a haunted house fighting him when they both got possessed by angry ghosts; and even attended a masquerade party one time.

For years a secret war was being fought in the supernatural world. The humans were clueless of these battles, unaware to the sorts of nightmarish creatures wreaking havoc upon each other just under their noses. It came as a surprise to many when a few species rising to power during the war were willing to put aside their differences and form a safe haven for their species.

Arete had become that safe haven, a home for wayward supernaturals in search of peace. Of the founding families, there are a variety of creatures hidden amongst them. Witches, warlocks, werewolves, and humans all nestled together in a single town.

The werewolves settled down in the mountains, forming the Shadowpeak Pack, named such because on bright days the mountains cover the town in its shadow. As old as the town itself, the Shadowpeak pack has remained close to tradition and strict in it's rules, especially in it's opinions on rogues. While the witches chose to live in town limits with the humans and maintain the peace. The warlocks hunted them in the cover of darkness, never truly following the peace accords reached between the three species.

It wasn't until what’s now known as Louisiana switched ownership that any overt conflict had ever come across the town. With the newest American settlers, came the arrival of another species: vampires.
