A Change of Scenery
ffxivwrite prompt #1 - cross
~600 words, set in a nebulous time at the FC House that is consistently under renovation. Ft. @colonelcupquake’s Wickit Pock as the Warrior of Light, and mentions of @urdnotgrunt’s Onion Pock as the middle sister and professional shit-stirrer
----
"You know, I’m starting to feel like maybe you're a bit cross with me," said Tritchet, from the roof of the chocobo stable.
On the ground below, her sister — Hydaelyn’s chosen, the eikon slayer, the lauded and revered Warrior of Light — glared up at her from a sea of crushed lavender plants that had been flattened beneath her boots, her greataxe hefted in both hands. A hazy aura of red was starting to burn at the edges of her eyes, which Tritchet thought was probably not great news for her.
"I don't have time for this, Tritchet!" Wickit shouted, in a tone that said that she had already lost all five seconds of her usual patience. “Where is he?”
“Where is who?” Tritchet called back innocently, and then yelped as a rock the size of her clenched fist suddenly whizzed past her head.
“You know exactly who! He was there when I cleaned the pond yesterday and now he’s gone. And Onion says you've been skulking around in the garden all day, and I know how much you hate him —”
“I don’t hate him,” Tritchet protested, peeking over the edge of the roof. “I just think sticking that stupid, kitschy rainbow frog fountain in the middle of our very nice back yard is a shame! So I figured, maybe he deserved a change of scenery —” Another rock, this one aimed much lower, glanced off of the roof tile beside her ear. “Wickit, the neighbors are staring!”
“Good! Maybe they'll see how much of an awful little thief you are! Now tell me where he is, or I’ll —”
“Or you’ll what?” Now Tritchet chanced to lean fully over the edge, arms braced against the roof to grin down at her sister. “You’ve got a good arm, Wic, but your vertical prowess always leaves much to be desired. Which I think gives me the advantage here, since I currently have the high ground."
"Oh, I can rebuild a chocobo stable," Wickit hissed, just loud enough to be heard over the growing thrum of aether coiling around her. She took a threatening step forward, greataxe hefted a little higher in her hands, and Big's chocobo let out a nervous little kweh from his place tethered to the stable wall. Tritchet stole a glance back towards the roof of the house. She wasn't entirely convinced of the likelihood of her sister carrying out her threat, but Wickit had a warrior’s training, and Tritchet had seen her do some pretty stupid things in the name of winning a fight. She had a landing place on the northmost side of the cottage roof all picked out, just in case.
“That’d be quite a shame,” she said as she edged slowly towards the corner of the stable, “considering you’ll probably need to get up here at some point to get him down.”
This paused Wickit’s advance. “Get him down?”
“Well, I did tell you that he needed a change of scenery.”
The gesture that she made to the top of the tree tucked just beside the stable was as much an admittance as a distraction. As soon as Wickit turned to behold her beloved pond accessory perched in the nest of the tree’s highest boughs, Tritchet sprang for the cottage roof, landing with a skid just outside of the window of Onion’s workshop. Below her, she heard the clatter of armor as Wickit spun towards her again.
“Tritchet! How am I supposed to get him down?!”
“Couldn’t say!” Tritchet called back, bounding up over the ridge of their roof with a laugh. “But I’ve heard the Warrior of Light is very resourceful!”

no but changing v's age to a tiny little baby* was silly and it was extra silly to give both female and male V the same birthday, because i see them as totally different characters with different personalities. and them having different birthdays was a nice addition that kinda highlighted it. like of course everyone can make their own V and roleplay as any kind of character they like, but i think the voice acting (english version) and romance options do paint a certain type of base for their personalities.
male v is a man in a man's world and he has to act like one in order to fit in and to survive. he has to have this cool tough guy act on, but sometimes it breaks, and you can find out what he really is feeling (for example talking to vik after the heist or the scene with skye/angel at the clouds). his romance options are both pretty big and wild personalities, and vincent in comparison to them is almost like more of a calming presence. but he does happily go along with both panam's and kerry's shenanigans.
female v is a woman living in a misogynistic world and that pisses her off. she is quick to anger and doesn't try to hide too much what she is feeling. if someone has an issue with how she expresses herself, then that's their fucking problem. to balance this, her romance options aren't as wild as panam and kerry, and they both offer a certain kind of domesticity to valerie. judy wants to move in with her immediately after their first time having sex (like a typical lesbian lol), and river is a family man and you can't make him leave his sister and her children. valerie's sex scenes are also less crazy and more "serene" and traditional than what vincent gets (a tank and a burning yacht).
some of these differences are also probably due to some underlying sexism in the writing (woman being more emotional, man getting wilder partners and so forth). but i still like that there are differencies. and when you add the three different life paths, you can get some nice variety to this pre-written character.
*i'm being overly dramatic because i myself am "old" and also a bit of a clown.

Luigi: Can you pass me the salt for me, please daddy?
M&L’s Dad and Bowser: *all reaches for the salt*
Dad:........
Bowser:.......
Extended family:.......
Mario: *fainted in Italian*
Dad, look at Luigi, wide eyes: Son......
Luigi, sweating and freaking out: DAD, WAIT, I CAN EXPLAIN!!!!
Peach, confused af: *look at Bowser* Why did you grab the salt? You’re not his daddy.
This ask is one of those times where I really wish I had the ability/skills to draw out this scene because I can easily imagine Bowser having either of these two reactions:
He's either just as mortified as Luigi is.
OR
While Luigi hides his face in embarrassment (while also turning as red as Mario's hat), Bowser stares at everyone with a dumb smirk on his face like he's proud of the fact that Mario and Luigi's entire family now knows that he and Luigi are banging.
And I honestly do not know which reaction I like better. 😂
Also, Peach, my girl, you are literal BFFs with Daisy (the person who would most likely ask you whether you and Mario did it after every date you two have), how has she not already told you about the other definition of "daddy?"

Comte Drama CD Translations, Track Seven: "To You Who Are So Lovely" - Ending
I'm not a professional yada yada yada, these are just my rough transcriptions of each track in the CD because I need fodder for my simping.
This one reads a bit like a love letter left for MC, it's another sweet one:
…Indeed, the sand in the hourglass has fallen. It appears my day with you is over. (I'M DISTRAUGHT TOO DW BEAUTIFUL)
In this way, every moment trickles into another ceaselessly…yes, forever.
Even now as I say it, the word “forever” drives a painful wedge in my heart.
I often wonder at the essence, the weight that word carries--so often spoken with admiration and yearning by humankind.
I think this is the first time in my life I ever went "philosopher (affectionate)" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I could listen to him all day [contented sigh]
I know very well…just how heartbreaking it is.
I was shaken by that never-ending, pathless darkness…until you gave me the hope of “now.”
A vampire who lives forever, and a woman who lives a finite life, hoping for a better tomorrow.
I’m not sure what will become of my love for you that sprouted at the boundary between “forever” and “now.”
…But I promise you this.
I will never let you go.
When I give you eternal love…
Let’s spend that time together.
Man the way I act up when I hear fictional man say "I will never let you go" [INSERT LOUD BARKING] it's a promise, Abel 🥺💜
It may turn out to be a bumpy road…but, don’t worry. We’ll take every step of the way hand-in-hand.
When I get lost…you’re so kind and strong
It makes me sure that if we do ever get lost, we’ll worry about it together, and find answers together.
Like a waltz, let’s take each other’s hands…and live together.
Okay all my usual court jester energy aside, I really am so fond of this motif throughout his stories. This idea that being in a relationship is about being there for each other, about promising the other will never be alone. I guess they really just embody what marriage is at its best, for me? Like not necessarily that there's only one way to be married, but that it should be about helping each other and caring about each other? Building a life and sharing that happiness, an enduring love that grows the more two people are together.
Holding hands and dancing, I'm so...
And one day, I’m sure I will…
…I’m sure that I’ll turn you into a vampire. At that time, let’s live together forever.
From the moment I met you that day, in Paris of the 21st century…it felt like the frozen hands on the clock of my life began to move.
I was determined that I would never fall in love with a human again.
I was moved by your pure and single-minded thoughts, and I wanted your love.
A year later, ten years later, one hundred years of accumulating this “now” I’ve received from you…
In the far distant future, I want to see you beside me.
I found you in eternity…I love you, and I will dedicate my pureblood life to your fate--
If y'all need me I will be wasting away, ty--
"In the far distant future, I want to see you beside me." I WANT THAT TOO, GORGEOUS
Man the way my brain is just so: the only kind of man I want is one that can go "I wanted your love 🥺👉👈" and "I wanted her blood to run down my mouth." AT THE SAME TIME
It's about the multi-faceted yearning 🤌🏼
