I think it's very telling that job postings for teachers at xtian schools will have some form of "believes deeply in christ" as the first THREE requirements under "requirements and qualifications," regardless of the subject being hired for. The necessary licence and teaching experienced is shoehorned in at the very end of the list. It really shows their priorites and how much they value quality education.

In comparison, the Yeshiva doesn't mention religion or faith or belief anywhere in their posting, and you can only tell it's Jewish if you know what a Yeshiva is. Their #1 requirement is a valid teaching license in the subject matter. And the NA, muslim, and Hmong populations in the area just flock to specific public schools (immersion, magnet, or charter) that accomodate and explicitly incorporate their respective cultures, so by law they must have non-descriminatory hiring practices and require appropriately licenced teaching staff.

Twenty more minutes and I'm done.” You try to reason with him, though it's hard when he's hellbent on getting your affection, so he hooks his foot around one of the chair's legs, pulling you to him until his knee bumps into your chair, his arm laying over the back of it while leaning forward.

You try to hold your ground, knowing it's a poorly made attempt at distracting you, and with his body so close to yours, his nose dragging over your cheek and breath fanning over your jaw, he'd like to think that it's working. “Five minutes...” He says again, pressing his lips to your cheek sweetly, his other hand taking your hand in his, playing with your fingers. “What's so important about math anyway? Just some useless numbers.” The more he speaks in that sweet, warm tone, the closer you are to just giving up for the time being and letting him distract you and as if as knowing your train of thought, his lips curl up, knowing he has you by the way your body slumps slightly, your head resting back on his arm, nosing at the Steve–scented material of his sweater, woody and rich cologne lingering there.

“Then you'll let me go back to studying?” It's baffling how easily you follow the voice at the back of your head that is Steve Harrington, because you know he means well, you know how he always tells you when to take a break, when to study, when to let him take the reins and guide you through the stressing days, he does it so well, you're surprised by how much care he has for your well being, though at this point it comes almost naturally for him.

“If you'll still want to then sure.” Your mind is too tired to process the somehow deeper meaning of his words, sighing contentedly as you feel his fingertips over your thigh, just soothing over the denim while you shuffle closer, resting your head on his shoulder while he rubs his palm over your leg. Closing your eyes momentarily you sag against him, finally feeling the exhaustion taking a toll on your body. He's right, you do need a break and maybe that's what you needed all along instead of trying to will yourself to focus.

“Steve?” You question, eyes peeling open and flickering between his hand, now crawling up your thigh until he reaches the button of your jeans, and his face. His pretty face, already looking at you with a faint curl in his lips, just letting out a hum as you call his name. “Steve what are you doing?” You ask again, more like scold him, though still keeping your voice down while his fingers fiddle with the button of your jeans, popping it open.

“Shh, honey.” He presses his lips to yours which is meant to distract you from the fact that the slow ripple of a zipper echoes through the room. “You're stressed. Need me to help you with it.” It's less of a question and more of a statement, and against your better judgement you part your thighs a little almost subconsciously, shifting on your chair to be more comfortable. “Steve, people. There's other people here.” He could see some in the far distance, some turned around with their backs to the two of you as they're quietly chatting.

I think more teens / young adults should have adult friends, and more adults should be open to being that friend.

Let me explain:

I know the internet has thought us that everyone over 29 who as much as TALKS to someone under 25 is a groomer and a creep and what have you, but the reality is just. Not like that? (obligatory "Yes bad people who will take advantage of younger folks do exist and yes still be careful who you trust and all that" disclaimer)

We are 4 trainees at my job, the youngest of us is 19. I'm the second oldest at 31. At first I felt kinda weird hanging out with and talking to the 19yo because of what the internet taught me, but I learned very quick that not only is she genuinely interested in my experiences and opinions and often actively asks me for my input, but that there is really nothing weird about it. Heck, it's normal!!* and the best part: We both benefit from it! Today I took her along to go grocery shopping after work. She has no car/driving license and thus no way to do a bigger shopping trip, and I had to buy a few things before the weekend as well so I offered to help out. She asked SO MANY questions, like how do I find out which option is the cheapest? What do I have to look out for when buying fresh fruit and veggies? Where do I find what and why do they keep changing it? Stuff that she could never ask her abusive mother. And I was happy to tell her! It helped A LOT with my anxiety I usually battle with in public spaces, and I felt SO useful, like heck yes! Let me teach you! Let me help you understand the stupid world that we live in so you can navigate it better! Let be be a positive influence! And after not even 3 months of working with this girl, I can already see that I really am having a positive influence on her. That I (and our other coworkers) have changed her somewhat conservative views on things, because before taking on this job, the only adults in her life were shitty. She had no idea how diverse and colorful and different other people can be, and that that's a good thing and nothing to be afraid of. She wants to quit smoking now, not because I or someone else told her she should, but because she has heard our coworkers who smoke openly regretting that they ever started.

So yeah I really, really think that older teens and young adults can greatly benefit from just. Hanging out with someone who is 10, 20, or even more years older than them and not their parent. Getting some new input/perspective on the world. And while an adult hanging out with a teen may not learn a lot other than some new words and the newest tiktok trends or whatever, I think they can benefit from the experience of being a positive influence. Of teaching others, even if it's about mundane things like grocery store queing etiquette. Especially if you struggle with things like depression, seeing how much you can help someone just by sharing your own experience can be great.

*A bit of context here because I feel it's important, especially for US americans: I live in Germany. If you want to get into a job, especially an artisinal one but this really applies to most fields, you have to work as a Trainee for 3 entire years and pass some tests before you can officially call yourself a "baker" or "gardener" or whatever your field is. So seeing a 16 yo fresh out of shool working and hanging out with the adult workers of the company is normal, especially if they learn their craft at a smaller business where they are the only trainee.

This article discusses a little history around the Gadsden flag, its origins and development as a symbol of freedom, and reasons it has endured as a symbol of freedom for so long. It does, however, miss a key point in this Colorado controversy.

The problem with a balanced analysis in this case is that it overlooks how public officials just make stuff up. The school administrator who insisted student Jaiden leave school property - now - states his reason:

"The reason that we do not want the flag displayed is due to its origins with slavery and the slave trade."

People in authority who want to prevail like fantasy arguments, because their victims have no way to refute their nonsense. Do you suppose that when Jaiden's mother tried to explain the flag's origins in the American Revolution, her arguments had any persuasive effect? Of course not. When Colorado Governor Jared Polis supported Jaiden's free speech rights in a public letter, it had no effect. The school administrator had already removed Jaiden and his backpack from school property, with justification that amounted to a joke.

I would say that to counter self-important administrators who use dishonest, false arguments, we must treat them as a joke. The problem is, they get the first move, they have tenure in their positions, some parents will believe their nonsense, and parents who hold up ignorant slobs for ridicule often find themselves regarded as troublemakers.

So what do you do when your child is effectively ostracized from school because some administrator does not know what an historical symbol means, or care about fair enforcement of school district policy? If you really think a Gadsden flag patch on a twelve-year-old's backpack disrupts the school environment because it symbolizes white supremacy, how disruptive is it when you show yourself a fool, and students under your authority no longer respect you?

Dear Nickelodeon, 

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles should get another season. I believe this because of the large fanbase, writers interest in continuing the show, why the show was originally put on pause, and how other shows are treated even ones of the same nature.

I grew up on teenage mutant ninja turtles, from when i was shown the 1987 version by my father at age five to growing up with the 2012 with my older brother. It has been one of my favorite franchises for years. As i got older i noticed problems with 2012 and started to distance myself from tmnt because of it till i heard about Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (from now on i will just refer to it as rise). I was so sad when I found out it had been canceled before I could watch it. When I found it on youtube and netflix I started to watch and was surprised at how many laughs I could get from it. It became a bonding experience for me and my dad. 

Nickelodeon has a few more recognizable shows such as Teen Titans Go and Spongebob. Starting with the show that is most often compared to Rise, we can see that Teen Titans Go has seven seasons and three movies. Spongebob on the other has thirteen seasons and three movies. Both more than the two seasons, although the second season was cut in half, and a movie Rise received.

Spongebob can be better understood due to the fame and more importantly the marketability of the show; however, Teen Titans Go is greatly criticized and has a much smaller marketability. It may seem that Rise would fall into this same problem but it actually is very different. Fanmade merchandise is selling for five to seventy dollars depending on what it is.

Even if you compare it to other versions of tmnt you will see that rise has the least seasons and episodes. Although it has a movie it still didn't wrap up all the plot points such as:mayhem,baron draxam,and big momma. Which leads me into my next point

Rise was canceled or “paused” in the middle of the second season's production. The planned episode number was cut in half and the writers had to wrap up the story lines they could because they didn't know when, if ever, they would be able to continue the story they had made. The reason given to the public for the cancellation from the studio and writers was a change in management combined with low toy sales and poor marketing. Often when who is in charge changes they will get rid of anything the previous management made as a way to make the company their brand.

Rise has a large fanbase. Parrot Analytics and Cartoon Base have down many poles asking rise fans if they want more of the show and over a few months it has gone from 17.1 times the demand than average tv shows to 23 times the demand than average tv shows as of september 2023. The fans have created a thirty page document about why they love Rise and want it back. Some fans have even written and published articles about why it should come back. The fans are dedicated to a fan show in the works because of it. There is also alot of fan merch,as previously stated, from pins to hoodies. 

The writers also have interest in continuing the show. The main writers did a q/a on the show. They showed more plans and a great interest if the show ever got unpaused. They appear to be more than willing to continue if the show got greenlit. One of the writers even released a deleted scene where the characters talk about always being there even if they aren’t actually there. Although it was directed at another character, the writer shared it was deleted because it was ment to be an end, and directed twords the audience, and they didnt want to add it out of desire that the show would be continued. 

Tmnt has had different versions go at the same time especially when it comes to movies so it's not like it is completely unheard of. With most of the fandom recognizing that tmnt is a multiverse and developing a love for rise,sadly it mostly developed after rise was “paused”, rise is much more likely to be better received this time around. Fans have even got the hashtags #saverottmnt and #unpauserottmnt trending.

For all of these reasons I believe that rise should be unpaused, and why I think it would be successful if you decided to bring it back.
