Well it's been almost two years but I'm watching Star Trek again.

Ok, so.

Evil aliens have captured the away team. To punish Kirk for trying to escape, they're gonna do "something" bad to these two red shirts. The black man walks stoically to his doom, while the white woman briefly pleads with Kirk to do something while looking all doe-eyed.

Alas, they are both turned into pumice stones.

Evil Guy crushes one of them, to prove he's serious about killing the crew. But if these giant sugar cubes are not destroyed, the Evil Guy assures us, they can be reconstituted. Ah, I think. Obviously it will be the true red shirt who dies and the innocent young woman will be spared.

Holy shit Star Trek!! I knew you were progressive but I was NOT expecting you to kill off the young white woman and save the black man! Legitimately impressed that you managed to subvert my expectations.

Character Introductions: Bacon (she/they), from Cucumber Quest

"Bacon started the comic as a member of the blt trio, originally meant to protect the princess but with overtaking of their castle they don't do that really, the other members of the blt trio really dislike Bacon, Tomato more so than Lettuce but Lettuce is not so great either, they regularly pick on her for her forgetfulness and generally are rude as hell. When Tomato decides that Bacon is getting in the way of him flirting with the princess (yeah its not Bacon dude Parfait hates u bc ur u) He promptly kicks Bacon out of their team. After this she somehow ends up in the melody kingdom? Organetto more specifically, and is roped into a play performance written and starred in by Count Legato, she plays the villain, Xylophonia and promptly steals the show by being the best (low bar bc the play sucks and Bacon actually is good at acting but yeah) she is interupted but for her amazing performance she actually gets a standing ovation! She doesn’t show up for a bit but this actually gets her a pretty good acting job on the show Pretty Protector Punisher Pumice as Pumice’s friend (who she’s totally in love with) Pancetta, she realizes her dream of being a pop idol and also this helps her realize she’s trans! She befriendeds a few crew members on Pumice including weird freak hyper realistic rabbits gary who also almost dies when the nightmare knight shows up on set so his minion/daughter can get Bacon’s autograph (but its chill no one dies) and yeah she’s doing pretty good!"

The manifesto dream

Earth, water, air, and fire. The fundamental components upon which everything we are constructed are the elements of the Earth. Everything created by humans, whether it be mechanical or digital, has its roots in the beginning. The elements that make up our Earth were the foundation from which we were created, and they can be used to describe who we are today.

The representive artwork represents a lot in my opinion and is a descriptive piece of work. I believe this piece shows how we should live in life and use our creativity to express ourselves. I feel like a lot of photos can be sad and simply downing expressing gloomy or dark feelings. I believe artwork should be uplifting and expressing how we all want to feel when we are happy. The hair of the women drawn is very realistic and the many different colors on the painting are amazing. My eye was drawn to the carefully painted oranges that brighten up the art piece and the drastic colors on the women. 

The abstract artwork I chose was a piece Nabil Nahas created who lived in Cairo for his first ten years before moving to Lebanon. He was heavily influenced by Islamic art as well as European modernism of the period. He relocated to the US, where in 1971 he graduated from Yale with an MFA. Through patterns, fractals, and labyrinths, Nahas frequently examines the development of order from disorder in his work. He combines paint with materials like pumice, volcanic rock, and powder to produce textures that, when arranged on big canvases, reflect what he calls "the geometry of nature." Through color, contrast, and abstraction, he explores the repetition of a single organic shape in his paintings. In both Europe and the United States, Nahas has held exhibitions. The abstract painting, he created I think is great as it shows very artistic details and the importance of creativity and how it can play a huge part when creating artwork. The many different colors he used grabbed my attention especially the colors he chose like the bright pink and different oranges. I also really love the different shapes he included and how they are grouped together in such a creative way that brings patterns to the piece. The shapes are very important and I feel make the art work stand out in general as the abstract colors are very creative as well. I also think the faded colors really stuck out to me as they blended together and made all the colors pop working together to also blend the shapes.

The public artwork I chose was a sculpture of the rhythmic gymnast's body toying with a ribbon and the spirals that are fanned out in the wind while she performs a dance that defies gravity are combined to produce two distinct movements in this sculpture. This interaction highlights harmony, motion, internal strength, and exterior strength, which work together to find and communicate a wonderful, poignant moment in time. Since 1984, rhythmic gymnastics has been an Olympic sport. Throws, circles, snakes, spirals, and flicks are examples of required elements. The spirals and circles are formed through a complex synchronization of routines. Judges punish any knots that may unintentionally form in the ribbon during the routine and look for large, smooth, flowing movements. I really like this specific sculpture because it defines atelicity, authentic, and overall, what happiness can look like. I think the ribbon in the ballerina’s hand shows creativity and is very realistic. One of Edgardo's goals with his sculptures is to evoke nostalgia, which this sculpture accomplished. I believe the positioning of this sculpture, along with every other iron sculpture Edgardo produced, was done to evoke a sense of community and diversity. There are numerous sculptures made of the same material all across downtown Fort Myers. These sculptures represent interests, animals, people, actions, etc., but their selection as sculptures was motivated by greater significance. This sculpture I feel is very popular as it does represent a worldwide famous sport and it does show a lot of creativity as well. I really like Edgardo’s art work as it is always very creative and makes a drastic point.

The poem I chose is called “I carry your heart with me (I carry it in] by E.E. Cummings”. I really enjoy this poem because it has a very deep and genuine meaning and connection about love. This poem is very direct and straightforward but contain deep implications, which is why I like them. Everything occurs for a reason is one of my favorite sayings. It's a way of looking at things that helps me realize that good things can emerge out of terrible. It encourages me to keep striving and seeking for better circumstances. This poem shows how love can be so charming and when you feel so strongly for someone you will do anything for them and their heart. I can identify to this poetry because I frequently lose someone, a circumstance, or something else and I constantly wonder why, but most of the time I figure it out and the universe always gives back. I learned to not beg for love or for someone heart and just let whatever come to me and this poem gives me reassurance.

Whether it was earth, air, water, or fire, everything had a beginning. We can be defined by these building elements, including who we are, what we want, and who we want to be. They may include music. They might be works of art. They may involve acting. They might qualify as works of art. The natural arts of the elements.
