Judgment Against Surrounding Nations

1 About Ammon’s children, thus says Adonai: “Has Israel no sons? Has he no heir? Why then did Malcam dispossess Gad and his people settled in its towns? 2 Therefore behold, days are coming” —it is a declaration of Adonai— “when I will sound an alarm of war heard against Rabbah of Ammon! It will become a mound of ruins. Her villages will be burned with fire. Then Israel will dispossess those who dispossessed him.” it is a declaration of Adonai. 3 “Wail, Heshbon, for Ai is devastated! Cry, daughters of Rabbah! Wear sackcloth, lament, and run to and fro within the walls, for Malcam will go into captivity together with his priests and princes. 4 Why do you brag about valleys— your flowing valley, faithless daughter? Trusting in your treasures: ‘Who will come against me?’ 5 I am about to bring terror on you” —a declaration of my Lord Adonai-Tzva’ot— “from all those around you. Each of you will be banished headlong, with no one to gather the fugitives. 6 Yet afterward I will restore Ammon’s children from exile.” It is a declaration of Adonai.

7 About Edom, thus says Adonai-Tzva’ot: “Is there no longer wisdom in Teman? Is counsel lost to the prudent? Has their wisdom vanished? 8 Flee! Turn back! Stay low, inhabitants of Dedan, for I will bring Esau’s calamity on him at the time that I punish him. 9 If grape gatherers came to you, would they not leave gleanings? If thieves came at night, would they not destroy only enough for themselves? 10 But I will strip Esau bare. I will uncover his hiding places, so he will not be able to hide himself. His offspring has been destroyed with his kinsmen and neighbors. So he is nothing. 11 Leave your orphans—I will keep them alive, and let your widows trust in Me.” 12 For thus says Adonai: “Behold, if those who do not deserve to drink the cup must surely drink, can you go utterly unpunished? You will not go unpunished, for you shall surely drink! 13 For I have sworn by Myself” —it is a declaration of Adonai— “that Bozrah will become a horror, a disgrace, a waste and a curse. All its towns will be ruins forever.” 14 I heard a message from Adonai. An ambassador is sent to the nations: ‘Gather together, come against her, and rise up for war!’ 15 For see, I made you least among nations, despised among men. 16 Your terrorism has deceived you, so that your heart is arrogant. You who live in the clefts of the rock, who occupy the height of the hill. Though you make your nest as high as an eagle’s, I will bring you down from there.” It is a declaration of Adonai. 17 “Edom will become a desolation. Everyone passing by will be appalled and hiss at all its plagues. 18 Like the overthrow of Sodom, Gomorrah and their neighbors,” says Adonai, “no one will live there, nor any son of man dwell there. 19 Look, it is like a lion coming up from the thickets of the Jordan to a secure pasture— for abruptly I will make him run away from it. I appoint over it whomever I choose. For who is like Me? Who will summon me to court? What shepherd stands up to Me?” 20 Therefore hear the plan that Adonai has drawn up against Edom, and His strategies that He designed against the inhabitants of Teman. Surely the least of the flock will be dragged away, Surely He will make their pasture desolate because of them. 21 The earth will tremble at the noise of their downfall. The sound of their outcry will be heard at the Sea of Reeds. 22 Behold, he will mount up and swoop down like an eagle, and spread out his wings against Bozrah. The hearts of Edom’s warriors in that day will be like a woman’s heart in her pangs.

23 About Damascus: Hamath and Arpad are ashamed, for they heard bad news, They melt away; in the sea there is trouble that cannot be quiet. 24 Damascus has become feeble. She turns away to flee, panic grips her, anguish and pangs have seized her, like a woman in travail. 25 How is the city of praise deserted— the city of my joy? 26 Therefore her young men will fall in her squares— all the warriors will be silenced in that day. It is a declaration of Adonai-Tzva’ot. 27 “I will set fire to the wall of Damascus— it will devour Ben-hadad’s palaces.”

28 About Kedar and of the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon struck. Thus says Adonai:

“Arise, go up against Kedar and devastate the children of the east. 29 They will take away their tents and their flocks. They will carry away their curtains, all their gear and their camels. They will cry out against them, ‘Terror on every side!’ 30 Flee! Scatter far! Stay low, inhabitants of Hazor!” It is a declaration of Adonai. “For King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon has taken counsel against you, and devised a plan against you. 31 Arise, go up against a nation at ease, dwelling securely,” says Adonai. “They have no gates or bars; they dwell alone. 32 Their camels will become plunder, their many cattle a spoil. I will scatter to all the winds those who shave the edges. I bring their calamity from every side.” It is a declaration of Adonai. 33 “Hazor will be a lair of jackals, a desolation forever— no one will abide there, nor any son of man dwell there.”

34 The word of Adonai that came to the prophet Jeremiah about Elam, at the beginning of the reign of King Zedekiah of Judah, saying, 35 thus says Adonai-Tzva’ot:

“Behold, I will break Elam’s bow— the source of their might. 36 I will bring upon Elam the four winds from the four quarters of heaven, and will scatter them to all those winds. There will be no nation where the dispersed of Elam will not go. 37 I will shatter Elam before their enemies and before those seeking their soul. war has taken shape in and around Israel

and yet we see how there is an expectation of Jews of a coming Messiah who will facilitate the rebuilding of a Temple in Jerusalem (around which all of this is based since it is actually a spiritual war)

and prophetically speaking, there will be a counterfeit messiah (who masquerades as a form of light) who will be received, but only for a time. only until his true colors are seen as an inner evil that opposes God and the Jewish people, and Christians as well.

And so, even though there may be a covenant of peace made in the coming days, yet it will be broken. and war will erupt again leading to the end and the return of the True Messiah and King who will overthrow all manner of rebellion in the earth.

there will be A Sabbath day’s “rest” and Yeshua will rule from Jerusalem

we also see how in Islam that the Muslims are expecting a Madhi to arrive as a savior (or messiah) descended from Muhammad who will restore the world to Islamic rule and rid the world of evil and injustice (as seen in their eyes), which includes the removal of Jews and Christians and anything other than Islam. yet please know, this is all a counterfeit to the True God and Creator who has been revealed as heavenly Father, Son and Spirit (first illuminated through the Jews and the covenant made with Abraham)

the God of Israel is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. the eternal One who created the heavens and garden earth. and there will be an uprising against Israel in the end days, yet God will protect.

Islam is being forced upon people with dark consequences for not adhering. this is an anti-Christ movement. Jihad is expected, and welcomed by its followers. just as martyrdom for the cause. but some are turning away from it to embrace the True Messiah and eternal King, the Son Yeshua

this is where the world is leading, where it is headed to: a form of evil that takes over for a short time. the lying dragon who fell from Heaven will have control of this world after the “secret elopement” of the Spirit and Bride into Heaven and there will be a great Judgment upon the world, and terrible catastrophes. but those on earth need to take heart (to stand bravely) against that which seeks to enslave, forcing its control. even to courageously stand in the face of death itself.

there will be A renewal of peace that endures and Love that never ends.

this is the eternal Kingdom to which we belong.

people may not want to believe that all of this will overcome the world, yet such a failure to see will not stop it. mankind is not ruling the world nor can anyone change our Creator’s True story.

through all the technological advancements and the capabilities that are achieved, yet the world we know is actually temporary. it will come to an end.

The sages say, "in the world to come (הַעוֹלָם הַ��ָּא), God will bring the sun out of its sheath to burn the wicked; they will be judged by it, but the righteous will be healed by it' (Shemot Rabbah). Amen. Yeshua is compared to the "Sun" because as the Sun is the central luminous body of our world, so Yeshua is called the "Light of Life" (אוֹר הַחַיִּים). Yeshua is "melech ha’kavod" (מֶלֶךְ הַכָּבוֹד), "the King of Glory" -- and no one can stand before the blinding power of His countenance (Psalm 27:4; Rev. 1:8-19). His is the "Fountain of Light" for all of creation, the Source and End of all life: "For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities -- all things were created through Him and for Him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together... that in everything He might be preeminent" (Col. 1:16-18). Yeshua is the "Sun of Righteousness" (שֶׁמֶשׁ צְדָקָה) who comes "with healing in his wings" -- that is, in healing radiance, with rays and beams, which metaphorically describe His influence over the hearts of men... Note that the word for "wings" used in this passage (i.e., kanaf: כָּנָף) pictures the image of a heavenly tallit (טַלִּית), or the heavenly firmament (רָקִיעַ) of the LORD's sheltering Presence.

Amen, there is a future time of healing and deliverance coming to us, though we must abide in the shadow of its substance for a bit longer: "For behold, the Day is coming (הַיּוֹם בָּא), burning like an oven, when all the arrogant and all evildoers will be stubble. The Day that is coming shall set them ablaze, says the LORD of hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch. But for you who fear my Name, the Sun of Righteousness (שֶׁמֶשׁ צְדָקָה) shall rise with healing in its wings. You shall go out skipping like calves released from the stall. Summer Series: The Spectacle of Nature

Mythological Animals in Hebrew Illuminated Manuscripts

Humans have long used animal imagery represent the mysteries of life and death. This is true of the three eschatological animals of the Hebrew Bible. To examine these creatures and other animals in medieval manuscripts we turn to the North French Hebrew Miscellany from the 13th century that is held in the British Library (Add. MS 11639). Here in UWM Special Collections we have a lovely facsimile copy produced by Facsimile Editions of London in 2003 that allows for closer inspection.  

The miscellany is a compilation of Hebrew texts, including religious, legal, and poetic writing. It is lavishly illuminated with various scenes from them. There are also depictions of three important mythological animals: the Ziz (a giant bird), Leviathan (a giant sea serpent or fish), and Behemoth (a giant bull).  

From the commentary text section “The Decoration of the Miscellany” by Yael Zirlin:

Ziz: “This medallion displays a large, strange bird, with the body and webbed feet of a waterfowl, but with the wing and beak of a bird. Under its tail lies a huge brown egg. This is Ziz or the Bar Yokhani, which is the name inscribed underneath. According to the Midrash, the Bar Yokhani together with the Behemoth and the Leviathan will be served at the feast of the righteous in Gan-Eden, Paradise.

Leviathan: “Depicted here as a big fish with scales and fins, its mouth full of sharp menacing teeth. Its body forms a loop, the tail nearly touching the head. The Midrash considers the Leviathan to be the most important of the three eschatological animals. Like the Ziz it is destined to be eaten by the righteous in paradise after the mortal combat in which it and the Behemoth kill one another, producing the meat for the feast (Leviticus Rabbah 13:3).”

Behemoth: “The third eschatological animal, is also named shor habar, ‘wild bull,’ which is why it is portrayed here as a big bull. Its body is colourless except for a red contour.”  

These three important creatures are prominently displayed with full-page illustrations, but there are other animal illustrations peppered throughout the manuscript, especially in the marginal decorations. There are both mythical beasts such as a griffon and dragon, along with real animals such as a monkey, peacock, rabbit, and lion.

Of course, all these illustrations were completed by hand by skilled illuminators. In the “Making of the Miscellany” section of the commentary text, Malachi Beit-Arié explains: “It appears that the production involved five successive stages: (1) copying the main texts in several stages; (2) illuminating the main texts; (3) adding unrelated texts in the margins and on the blank pages at the end of units; (4) decorating the marginal texts; (5) inserting quires of paintings and adding paintings to blank pages.”

Many images achieved an iconographic status because they were copied from other illuminated manuscripts or model books.

Judaism: Solstices and Equinoxes

Overview

Judaism runs on a lunar calendar, for example, all our holidays start at sundown. So, this means that the changes of the seasons which are based on a solar calendar do not have as much prominence as the phases of the moon. However, in the Jewish Pre-Talmudic text the Book of Jubilees, we see an alternate Jewish solar calendar. In the end, it was not chosen for what our system is based on - but the Rabbis do talk about the solstices and equinoxes within the Talmud (Berakhot 59b, Shabbat 53a, Eruvin 56a). The word for these four seasons marked by these events is "Tekufot" (tekufah in the singular) which literally means "turn" or "cycle" in Hebrew. According to the sages, each tekufah marks the beginning of a period of 91 days 7½ hours. Tekufot are not necessarily positive events, associated with some negative superstitions. However, there are some different recorded Midrashim that have positive or neutral associations, along with a blessing that can be used to acknowledge them (though this is a minority opinion in the Babylonian Talmud, majority rules this was not necessary). While there is no exact answer, there is some speculation that the four new years within Judaism may be marking the four solar transitions within the year, but some of them are at half-points and not accurately aligned. 

Superstitions

An ancient superstition connected with the tekufot is surrounding water. All water that may be in the house or stored away in vessels in the first hour of the tekufah is thrown away in the belief that the water is then poisoned, and if drunk would cause swelling of the body, sickness, and sometimes death. One of the reasons it is said is because the angels who guard and are the protectors of the year "change shifts" at every solar transition, so water is left unguarded. Another is that Cancer fights with Libra and drops blood into the water. Another reason is that at every tekufah, blood has been shed in our spiritual history. At Tekufat Nissan, the waters in Egypt turned to blood. At Tekufat Tammuz, Moshe smote the rock and caused drops of blood to flow from it. At Tekufat Tishrei the knife which Avraham held to slay Yitzchak dropped blood. Finally, at Tekufat Tevet, Yiftach sacrificed his daughter. It is not only against kashrut laws to ingest blood, but there is a lot of superstition around keeping life and death separated in many of our rituals. To avoid this issue with unused water, one must put a piece of iron within it or put it in an iron vessel. If you are making matzot on Tekufat Nisan, you must use a new iron nail and lower it by a string into the water first. 

There is no traceable origin of this superstition, but in the 10th-century Rabbis asked about these questions and discussed it, meaning it was widespread even then.

Blessing

In Berakhot 59b, the sages say: "One who sees the sun in her tekufah, or the moon in her power, or the stars in their orbits, recites: Blessed is the one who makes Creation' (baruch oseh vereshit)." Abaye argues this should only be done every 29 years when the spring equinox falls so that the sun is in the same place it was on the day of Creation. However, the minority opinion was still written, so you could make the choice to recite it in the astrological events mentioned.

Havdalah ha-Tekufah

This blessing may be recited over a cup of wine or grape juice on the day of the equinox or solstice. This prayer also may be recited along with a blessing over a scent related to the season, for example, flowers for spring, fruit for summer, leaves for fall, and pine boughs for winter. It is based on the following texts:

The Havdalah ceremony dividing Shabbat from the weekday. 

The blessing over equinoxes and solstices found in the Babylonian Talmud (Berakhot 59b).

The traditional evening prayer marking the transition between day and night.

The Torah text in which the Holy One promises Noach that the seasons will continue as long as the earth endures (Bereishit 8:22).

The blessings over the abundance of years found in the daily Amidah prayer (recited in the feminine to honor the Skehinah, the immanent Divine Presence). 

Baruch atah Hashem Elokeinu melekh ha'olam borei peri ha'gafen.

Blessed are You, Hashem, Ruler of the Universe, creator of the fruit of the vine.

Bercuchah at Shekhinah Elokeinu ruach ha'olam, borei isvei (atzei) vesamim. 

Blessed are You, Shekhinah, the Presence who embodies the world, who creates fragrant plants and grasses (or: fragrant trees). 

Baruch atah Hashem Elokeinu melekh ha'olam, oseh vereishit, asher bit'vunah meshaneh itim umachalif et hazemanim. Od kol yemei ha'aretz zera vekatzir vekor vechom vekayitz vechoref veyom velailah lo yishbotu. Bercuhah at Shekhinah, mevarechet hashanim. 

Blessed are you, Hashem, Ruler of the Universe, who makes Creation, whose wisdom changes the times and turns the seasons. As long as the days of the earth endure, planting and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night shall not cease. Blessed are You, Divine Presence, who blesses the years.

Midrashim and Teachings

Pirkei de-Rabbi Eliezer, a Rabbinic work, tells of the teaching of tekufot to Adam and Chava as part of divine wisdom. Pirkei de-Rabbi Eliezer (7) also notes the combination of lunar and solar elements in the Jewish calendar. The passage explains that Rabbinic authorities inserted leap months in the calendar "for the sake of the trees, for the sake of the grasses, and for the sake of the tekufot," meaning that the lunar calendar had to be balanced with the cycles of planting and harvest and with the cycles of the solar year. 

Medieval traditions about the tekufot emphasized the eerie qualities of the solstices and equinoxes. The Machzor Vitry indicates the frightening biblical events such as the plague of blood that happened at the four seasonal transitions. 

The Otzar Midrashim (Hashem Behomah, Yasad Aretz 6) mentions a more positive midrash in which giant mythical beings and animals roar on each of the four seasonal dates. These roars compel the demons and wild creatures of the world to restrain themselves so that order prevails and life continues. Thus they encourage all beings to praise the compassion of the Divine. This midrash suggests that the solstices and equinoxes have both frightening and life-preserving qualities. 

Midrash Tanhuma (Korach 10) tells us that the chieftains of Moshe were selected partly because they knew how to calculate and observe the tekufot.

Tekufat Nisan

Tekufat Nisan is the vernal equinox when the Sun enters Aries; this is the beginning of spring, or "eit hazera" (seed-time) when day and night are equal. It is also known as the season of "the triumph of life". 

Jubilees (6:25) records the 1st of Nisan as the day the Divine commanded Noach to build an ark and the day Noach opened the ark and saw dry land.

Seder Olam (11:1), a work from Talmudic times, relates that the new moon of Nissan, the day the Holy Ones gives the calendar to Moshe in preparation for the first celebration of Pesach, is also the spring equinox.

The ancient midrashic collection Peskita Rabbati (15:17), on the other hand, suggests the day of the Exodus was the spring equinox.

In the Machzor Vitry, the spring equinox is the day the first plague, the plague of blood, falls upon Mitzrayim.

In Otzar Midrashim (Hashem Behomah, Yasad Aretz 6), the spring equinox is the day when humans receive protection from demons and evil spirits. On that day, the seraphim "lift up their heads to the heaven, and the fear of them falls upon demons and spirits, and the seraphim shelter humans beneath their wings to hide them from the demons."

The Purim holiday falls near the spring equinox. Its heroine, Esther, reveals herself as a Jew to save her people.

These tales associate the spring equinox with freedom, with divine protection from oppressor or danger, and with life. in spring, the young plants bursting forth from the ground need protection and room to grow, and we ask this blessing for ourselves as well.

Tekufat Tammuz

Tekufat Tammuz is the summer solstice when the Sun enters Cancer; this is the summer season, or "et ha-katsir" (harvest-time) when the day is the longest in the year. It is also known as the season of "loss and abundance".

In Jubilees (6:26), the story of Noach's flood, the summer solstice is the day the mouths of the great abyss are closed so that the water ceases pouring onto the earth. 

Jubilees (3:32) also names the summer solstice as the day the Divine exiles Adam and Chava from Gan Eden. This is the day the animals lose their power of speech.

In Seder Olam (11;1), we learn that the day the sun stood still so that Yehoshuah's warriors could win the battle of Gibeon was the summer solstice.

In Genesis Rabbah (6:6), we learn that "on the summer solstice no creation has a shadow."

In the Machzor Vitry, the summer solstice is the day Moshe strikes a rock in anger while seeking water for the people. The Eternal tells Moshe he will never enter Eretz Yisrael as a result of his actions.

In Otzar Midrashim (Hashem Behohmah, Yasad Aretz 6), the summer solstice is the day animals receive protection from their predators. On that day, "the Holy One puts strength in the Behemoth and it becomes strong and raises its head and cries out, and its voice extends through all the settled land, and the wild animals hear and are afraid."

In Jewish tradition, the summer solstice carries with it themes of closure, exile, and loss, yet also the benevolence of nature and the divine. We meditate on grief, yet also on the world's abundance. The summer solstice is a day of paradox: maximum light but also a turn toward darkness.

Tekufat Tishrei

Tekufat Tishrei, the autumnal equinox, when the sun enters Libra, and autumn, or "et ha-batsir" (vintage-time), begins, and when the day again equals the night. It is also known as the season of "the link between earth and heaven". 

Jubilees (6:26), in its story of the Flood, records the autumn equinox as the day the floodwaters begin to descend back into the depths so that the earth can be fruitful once again.

On the autumn equinox, Avraham sits up all night to observe the stars, to forecast the rains of the coming season (Jubilees 12:16).

In the Machzor Vitry, the autumn equinox is the day Avraham nearly sacrifices Yitzchak on Mount Moriah, before the Divine stays his hand. Because of his act, Avraham is blessed that his seed will be as the stars in the sky.

According to the Babylonian Talmud (Rosh Hashanah 10b), Sarah, Rakhel, and Channah all conceived on the 1st of Tishrei, a date close to the autumn equinox. 

In Otzar Midrashim (Hashem Behohmah, Yasad Aretz 6), the autumn equinox is the season of the ziz, when birds receive protection from their predators. "On the autumn equinox, the Holy One gives strength to the ziz and it becomes strong, and it lifts is head and flaps its winds and sends forth its voice, so that fear of it falls on the culture and the osprey from one year to the next."

The autumn equinox seems related to the skies, the stars, and the rains. Yet it is also related to fertility and to the renewal of life. In many climates, autumn is a season of harvest and of rain. Perhaps the autumn equinox is the time of reforging the lin between earth and heaven- a link necessary for life to continue.

Kavanot la-Tekufot: "May it be Your will that it be a year of rain and dew, a year of favor, a year of blessing, and a year of abundance … and please do not listen to the prayers of those who pray that there be no rain!" -- Leviticus Rabbah 20:44

Tekufat Tevet

Tekufat Tevet is the winter solstice when the sun enters Capricorn; this is the beginning of winter, or "et ha-ḥoref" (winter-time), when the night is the longest during the year. It is also known as the season for "the search for light".

In Jubilees (7), in the days of Noach, the winter solstice is the day the peaks of the mountains became visible after the floodwaters recede.

In the Babylonian Talmud (Avodah Zarah 8a), Adam and Chava become frightened as the winter solstice approaches, thinking the shortening of the days is a punishment. They fast for eight days. On the winter solstice, when the light grows, they celebrate for eight days. 

In the Machzor Vitry, the winter solstice is the day Yiftach, a chieftain of Yisrael, sacrifices his daughter in fulfillment of a foolish battle vow. She has been bewailing her fate on the hills for two months.

Otzah Midrashim (Hashem Behohmah, Yasad Aretz 6), tells that on the winter solstice, Leviathan protects the creatures of the sea from their predators: "On every winter solstice he lifts his head and makes himself great, and blows in the water, and roils the sea, and makes all the fish in the ocean afraid." Leviathan is a creature known for being G!d's playmate (Babylonian Talmud, Avodah Zarah 3b) and a wise teacher of human beings (Otzar Midrashim Alphabet of Ben Sira 17). His eyes, according to the Talmud, flash in the deep (Bava Batra 74b). 

The winter solstice seems to have to do with sight or the lack thereof. Mountains become visible to Noach, and the patterns of nature become visible to Adam and Chava. Leviathan is associated with inner sight. Yiftach, on the other hand, is blind to his own wrongdoings. On the winter solstice, the sun's light begins to become stronger, and we too consider how to strengthen our vision.

While Satan could be female or hermaphroditic, he could also have a wife, who according to certain accounts was called Lilith. This demonic woman, whom some would eventually come to regard as the first feminist, has a long history. Raphael Patai and others have theorized that she has her roots in ancient Sumeria. As Gideon Bohak points out, regardless of where she began her sinister career, Lilith became ‘part and parcel of Jewish demonology already in the Second Temple period’ (530 B.C.–70 A.D.) and has ‘remained there ever since’. A female night spirit called Lilith appears in the Talmud and is described as having a woman’s face, long hair, and wings. The brief mention of Lilith in Isaiah 34:14 is perhaps not really a reference to this figure, but rather a misunderstanding of a Hebrew term denoting an unclean animal. The Lilith we encounter in later narratives has been perceived as a solution to a seeming contradiction in the Bible, since in Genesis 1:27 we read: ‘So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.’ A little while later, however, in Genesis 2:21–22, it is stated that Eve was created after Adam, out of one of his ribs. In other words, the Bible offers two conflicting versions of the creation of woman. If Adam had a wife before Eve, this discrepancy would be solved: enter Lilith. But what happened to the first wife? Classical Midrashic texts mention an unnamed ‘First Eve’ who returned to the dust she was made from, but do not elaborate on the motif. Daniel Boyarin suggests this fragmentary notion may reflect a longer narrative from that period, which is lost to us. This, he admits, remains on the level of mere conjecture and the figure is not called Lilith in the Midrash. The Talmud refers to very old ideas about ‘Lilin’ and ‘Lilioth’, male and female demons of the night, and in Genesis Rabbah it is said that since Adam and Eve did not lie with each other for 130 years after having been expelled from the Garden of Eden, they were visited by female and male sexual demons, respectively. Later, the focus would be shifted to how Adam was supposedly molested by the lecherous first Eve, Lilith, during this period. Boyarin comments: ‘A gender-neutral statement of how demons exploit celibates has become by a subtle shift a representation of demonic female sexuality.’

I’m pretty hard to crack honestly but if something makes my heart go mushy it’s friendship? Like if I see a beautiful supportive friendship of two people who trust each other unconditionally my heart just melts. Cheeta and Patsu of Castle in the sky (my favorite ghibli movie btw)is a prime example of that. Everyone deserves a friend like Patsu!

My initial thought was “cats!” but I can keep some once I moved out so that doesn’t count. And this now, is goin to sound completely stupid but ..blonde hair. My hair is dark brown with a lot of red in it so colouring it isn’t really an option my skintone also doesn’t fit well with blonde hair so rip my aesthetics…

natural,since I don’t wear make up, I never learned how to use it properly. I’ll look like clown if I would try it now also i feel uncomfortable with it.

Neither I’m terrified of insects (and spiders) of any kind so even a butterfly will freak me out. I love both but I’m more of a cat person.
