i take my job as an armchair tumblr connoiseur of trobed content way too seriously so here's my giant masterlist of all my favorite trobed fanfics. i didn't cross check this with any previous lists so there may be some overlap but this one is more extensive and will include some older fics. also if it's not listed here that doesn't mean i don't love it, these are just the ones i specifically remembered to write about. please send the authors some love if you have the time to check their works out!

Things such as puzzles, args, physical art pieces pertaining to this fic/fandom, and of course, fanart if anyone decides to make it! Do you have berlermo fic recommendations?

A lot, actually! I'm usually such a lazy ass, so I'm just going to list down my absolute fucking fave authors ever, because I am extremely confident whatever fic of theirs you decide to click and read will undoubtedly be a good one. However, I will list down some of my personal favorites among their writing so you know where to start!

Also please leave kudos and comments if you liked their work. It would mean so much. Even if you just do a "KDHJSDJAGJ I love it!" keyboard smash like I usually do. lmao. Anyway:

givebackmylifecas (Ellen) - Ellen is one of the most, if not THEE most prolific writer in the Berlermo fandom. She has a record of a whopping 58 fics in total for the two evil bastards, and was one of the few people who kept providing fanfic content during the great Berlermo drought of 2020. An absolute legend. A fantastic writer. All her fics are "mwah, chef's kiss* and I'm happy to call her my wifey.

Recommended works: Yucatan AU, Daemon AU, Divorced AU, Andrés Getting Punched AU (5+1), Hallucination AU, Another 5+1 Fic where people assume they are dating, THIS absolute RIDE of an AU, Berlin the Cat AU, Amnesia AU

shotgun_cake (Shotgun) - QUEEN OF SMUT, and no one will refute me for this. Because anyone who has ever read Shotgun's writing will agree with me. Perfect blend off fluff, smut, and just enough sprinkling of angst to tug on your heartstrings and make you yearn.

Recommended works: Flavours of Lust Series, The Knight Fic, Wedding AU, Lawyers AU (still a WIP! but worth the read anyway), Sugar Daddy AU, One of the First Berlermo Smuts ever written and my GOD is it still good, Spin the Bottle AU

boom_slap (Boom) - QUEEN OF ANGST, and again, no one will challenge this claim because anyone who has ever read Boom’s fics will know what I’m talking about. Every single sentence she writes just evokes a very sharp pang of pain, but in a really good cathartic way that really captures the essence of Berlermo as a whole.

Recommended works: Unlikely Alliances (which is actually the fluffiest shit ever and an absolute masterpiece of an AU, but still has great angst I love Boomer for), really really amazing hurt/comfort fic that makes me cry, another really amazing hurt./comfort fic that makes me bawl my eyes out,  Andrés overdoes it with the dirty talk AU that has great hurt/comfot and makes me weep like a baby, really painful but beautiful hurt/comfort Attempted Suicide AU that reduces me to a puddle of tears, Short Studies in Pleasure series,  Berlermo Sick Fic,  Andrés’s wonderful journey through discovering his sexuality and spoiler alert! He bottoms in the end but it’s masterfully and carefully written so Bottom!Berlin Antis, give it a go you cowards!

phcbosz (Mav) - Mav’s a goddamn talented writer and he writes some of the best hurt/comfort fics out there too. And they’re heartbreaking and sad, but it also feels warm. Like you’re being hugged, like you’re being understood. 

Recommended works: MY COMFORT ANGST FIC,  Andrés falls in love FIRST AU, Bittersweet Fic About Andrés’s Illness, Trans!Martín AU, Cuddling for Warmth AU

marirable (Marie) - Marie is also like lowkey highkey an emotional terrorist and her works are incredibly underrated which is an injustice!!! So here I am trying to make up for that so please give this woman some love right now.

Recommended works: Marie has 5 fics so literally I recommend all of them thank you, but I would start with her first fic: the Soulmate/Soulmark AU

Names in bold are obviously my friends! Who I become friends with because I read their fics and hunted them down lmao. Also, huge disclaimer! This is my personal opinion. Fics are subjective so these are the ones that work for me, because I’m actually very particular with dynamics and characterization. And I think these fics manage to really capture Andrés and Martín’s personalities and relationship perfectly and also maintain a respect for the source material, which I know is hard to do, so I admire them greatly. Thanks for sharing your works!

I just finished superstore and have been spiralling! I can't stop thinking about Parker and Jonah finally reuniting. (Also do you have some fix recommendations? I need more simmosa in my life)

parker and jonah reuniting is one of the things about the finale that makes me the most emotional and i really wish we’d gotten to see that play out onscreen. like. that’s his dad. their relationship is so important to me

and one thing i really appreciate about superstore is that they didn’t pull a “jonah was the biological dad all along”—i do enjoy that take in fics sometimes, and i know it’s a relatively popular idea on here as well, but i think it makes for a much more compelling dynamic to have jonah raise parker, even though he isn’t the biological father. the theme of these sort of unconventional family dynamics that the show presents us with is really refreshing and beautiful (which is a whole other post tbh). that being said, i definitely have a love-hate relationship with the way the show handled the pregnancy lol

in terms of fic! i haven’t checked other sites, but at least on ao3, there really isn’t a lot published unfortunately. most of the pieces up right now are also one-shots, and i’m more of a 300k slow burn kinda gal, but there are some really great ones that i’ve found. here are a few!

Food, Hearth, Death.

Food.

Little bars in Ireland were the best at first. It was hard to leave when things eventually went sour. A couple owned it, lovely folks who didn’t care about the war. They cared about their two little boys and the tired patrons gathered by the bar or fire. The two were the first to give me comfort outside of my home. I always saw the widest smiles in them, even on the most dreary of days. They made the best stew… too bad I blew it by getting caught “hunting” for a woman. It wasn’t untrue, but it was the wrong reason the town thought it was.

I miss their drinks. Their stew. Their kindness. But they saw, and they hated. I saw their hatred for me, lit up like a fire in their eyes like all the rest surrounding me. The town ran me out not long after. I left a whole suitcase, but luckily I had enough in the remaining one to get to America.

Hearth.

The next most memorable place was in America. It was just after I had found a place to call home, after I had finished college, but nothing like what I needed. It would have to do, especially with myself being a single woman with a strange name from an even stranger, evil land. It took a while to conform and blend in.

Dawn broke. A new day, fresh tears, and the yearning for something warm. The small, dilapidated house was too cold, even wrapped in fur and a coat by the fire. It was colder than the coldest winters I had been through with the emptiness. And so, I walked to town.

There was a tiny, lovely restaurant at the end of my dreary wandering. It was just off Main Street, hidden behind snow drifts from the recent, stifling storm. I remember the owner’s soft face contorting into concern as she rushed me a warm cup of coffee. On the house, of course, as is her kindness. As the second wave of the storm battered the weak roof, I stayed. And I smiled.

I never liked storms much after this day. Fun to scare in, not to experience. I can still feel the cold from when the sun rose on a nearly-empty house. But luckily, I had the restaurant. I had her smiling face to brighten the long, endless months. These months were colder than I had experienced, but were warmed with something I loved: warm food, hearth, and a smiling face who always loved to see me. And I always loved to see her.

She was withering away. She finally told me why her heart steadily began slowing down, why she was getting paler and paler. Why she needed more help from her only child: a sweet, kind daughter. Cancer. From that point onwards, I could barely bring myself to visit. I never ordered from that point onwards, but I’d always leave a tip. For her stories, I’d laugh.

She never knew what I was. Neither did her daughter as she grew to fill her mother’s position. Neither deserved it. Her daughter deserved to be able to pay for my friend’s funeral without the shame of losing her business. She wanted to do it herself, somehow. That’s why I joined the Foundation. I was promised a large sum from the newly-formed organization for my research and expertise. Even they didn’t know what I was back then. My parting gift to her was a donation, for all the stories her mother shared to a shy Russian woman. For her hospitality and love.

I’d like to deny that I did this all for her now that I’m a higher rank, but I know I’d be lying to myself.

Death.

The Day died that day as I walked away for the last time. My tiny home had long since been sold, as I was moving across the country. It was time to toughen up, to leave my kindness behind. And to rise the ranks.

The first break in my armor was a doctor named Stella. She was the first person, outside of my family, to view me in a positive light. She reminded me of all of the kind families, friends, and everyone in between who welcomed me in. Of all of the people I had to leave for one reason or another. So I needed to keep her from getting involved.

She reminded me too much of the end of things. Of all of the kindness I saw that ended or died. Of the people who scorned me after knowing me too long. Of the ones who I had to leave when they died. In a way, she helped me see what I needed to do: be strong once more, as I don’t want to cry again for what I lose so often.

Then came someone who I thought wouldn’t die. Full of heart and a golden one to boot, he ran a beautiful bar for who knows how long. He was also someone I had originally feared from him being a GOI leader. It was so nice to be a scientist again. To be someone who was there for the food. For the comfort. For the “madams” and stories and drinks. For the things I was reminded all too well of from all the past restaurants and bars and hate.

My paranoia grew. He was too kind to me, too smiley, too welcoming. I knew something was bound to happen. I should’ve stopped going… Then, I was tortured. I was tortured and stabbed and whipped before being practically drowned. It was a blessing and a curse when Goldstein arrived.

He gave me borscht and beer and a bed after I was stitched up. I didn’t tell him that waking up in a new environment wasn’t scary because I didn’t like water. It was terrifying because I thought I had been betrayed again. I wanted to keep the nice comfort we had, but it was all too familiar to me that it would end. I thought it had. I still want that nice comfort to continue.

The nightmare broke me. Goldstein is terrifying and I know what he can do. I know that smile, I know that he could easily take the place of the man who tortured me. I know he-

He called me beautiful. He told me that I was cool, and cute, and that I reminded him of his late wife. I thought he would turn on me, and he called me beautiful. He wanted to see me. He wanted to relax with me nearby. Why? I don’t know, he knows me. He knows what I can do. He knows that I’m terrified of him doing something to me.

But I can’t help but feel that the wolf has died, alongside the walls I’ve made.

I like Royality. And I can imagine human AU where Patton is a dad of Virgil. And  Roman is the classmate of Virgil and Roman have a crush on Patton. Like crush on mum of friend but dad xD - Roman is trying to visit Virgil as often as possible. - Virgil is angry at him „You lose your mind, HE IS MY DAD!” - Patton thinks Roman is dating with his son. - Virgil is denying - „So why he always is trying look the best when he is visiting you?” „He want to pick up YOU!” - Roman is becoming a close with Virgil because of regular visiting - And crush on Patton end as Prinxiety - Patton shrug and is like „I knew it” XD (pssst! And Logicality!)
