finished dead boy detectives!!! (spoilers ahead!)
quick disclaimer: i haven’t gotten around to the comics yet but i’ve been very interested since the sandman came out and i do plan on reading them eventually lol.
- edwin is my new blorbo cutie and i too would go to hell for him. also, his style is immaculate, exactly how i want to dress all the time.
- i am SO sad about niko. but i’m glad that it seems like she’s not totally gone? i hope she’s not an antagonist in the next series (the ending was a touch ominous), but i’ll honestly be happy either way. it’s so rare to find good western-japanese characters. it made me incredibly happy when she switched into a japanese accent when saying “osaka” because it’s something i recognise in my family and in me. i know people from lots of different backgrounds do that with words from their own languages, but i’d never seen a japanese character do it before so i was very tickled.
- charles. man. please fall in love with edwin. how tf are you quite literally dragging him out of hell and he confesses to you and you look him in the eyes and say that you love him but you’re not in love with him. i mean that’s the best possible way he could’ve gone about it, but if i were edwin i might just have gone back down to the doll face spider thing.
- i hope that crystal’s past doesn’t land her in jail or anything. i really like her dynamic with the others but i’m not sold on her and charles romantically, mostly because edwin is so fucking sweet and i don’t want his heart to be broken. he’ll be happy if charles is happy, but i cannot stand see him get hurt even the tiniest bit.
- jenny is amazing. she’s literally me fr. also i love how she just hands people cleavers.
- i found the night nurse’s breakdown when she was in angie’s stomach very relatable. i feel like that a lot lmao. and i love her accent. i will go to bat for my own weird ass culchie irish/valley girl hybrid, but if had to pick another accent…
- i need a wise and eternal south asian man to talk me down from the ledge. it’s almost finals week and a ring from kashina would be a big help.
- tragic mick (top tier wordplay name) is a sweetheart and i hope he gets to be a walrus again eventually. my first reaction when i saw the cat king was “oh my god, it’s the piss kink guy from You!” but that aside, he was ok in the end. so was monty. i hope the night nurse can help crystal drag david the demon back down to hell.

Ya’ll ever notice how most of the best tv shows that are cancelled before their time are disproportionately directed and/or lead by women 😬 and even when it’s not, it’s usually queer media.
What a funny funny funny funny funny funny coincidence

The absurdity and stupidity of all shitflix cancelations lies in one simple question: How many of those canceled shows have you actually heard of before they got canceled?
- Warrior Nun - never heard of it until the moment I started seeing its fans spamming every shitflix post. And that was its second season. It had two seasons, for fucks sake, and most of us have never heard of it. You wanna know whose fault that is? Let me give you a hint. No, it's not the viewing numbers.
- First Kill (or whatever its name is) - Never heard of it until, once again, I saw people complaining about the cancelation under shitflix posts. Once again, guess whose fault that is.
- Santa Clarita Diet - Never heard of it. Didn't even know it was canceled until it made it to the list of pissed of people counting how many of them they axed. Whose fault is that?
- Inside Job - Yeah, never heard of it until it got canceled. Also, canceled after they renewed it. Shitflix: guess we changed our minds.
- Archive 81 - Heard of it when the cancelation was announced.
- The OA - Remember just hearing about it through the fog, even though it came out years ago.
- Sense 8 - know about it only thanks to fans' videos and fanart. I don't remember shitflix ever mentioning it.
- Lockwood & Co - I know about it thanks to fans spamming posts asking for renewal news.
And the list goes on with, I assume, shows I have never heard of.
I've never seen any of these shows, but my open wound is 1899 that I believe got treated the dirtiest of them all.
I have heard of it two years before the premiere, thanks to a 50 seconds long teaser that got me patiently waiting for years because it was my cup of tea. It came from the people who proved themselves before by creating a critically acclaimed show that you can find on a top 10 list of greatest shows of all time. Those people have spent years developing a new filming technique for shitflix. What a way to say thank you.
8 out of 10 people around me have seen 1899. Those people haven't even seen GoT or LotR for fucks sake, the most famous show and movie ever, but they have seen 1899. But not because shitflix promoted it, but because people did.
There was zero promotion, zero cast interviews, zero mentions after the release. It was still watched and talked about by so many people. It has more viewing hours than their hit shows running for 3+ seasons put together. It's a show you can't just binge and forget, you have to actually turn your fucking brain on. It was released in the most busy time of the year, during the damn World Cup and winter holidays. It was still number one for weeks. It was given less than 30 days. They decided to cancel it before it even premiered. They deleted the trailer with 10+ million views from YT.
The same goes with other shows. I have seen zero cast interviews, zero promotion or mentions by their own platform and they still have loyal fan bases that didn't stop talking about them.
But then you have dogshit shows like the Night agent that is getting hyped by shtflix every single fucking day. Fake numbers, pumped up to get people to watch a generic, a hundred times seen before, piece of crap. It got more hype than fucking GoT, and yet I know zero people who have actually watched it. Yep, there is no one I know, in real life or online, that has actually watched this show. So you figure it out.
People who have watched the shows I've mentioned probably have the statistics for them, and have probably seen the viewing hours being blamed for it, which was bullshit.
The latest nail in the coffin was Lockwood & Co. They kept fans waiting for months, and then they announced the cancelation during Eurovision so that fans wouldn't be able to go viral about it because everyone talked about fucking Eurovision.
Shitflix has canceled 26 sci-fi/fantasy shows in the last 3 years. 26! Do you all remember when we couldn't even name 26 shows of all genres put together, let alone watch them?
What all these shows had in common is that they were original and more or less unique and creative, not something you can find at least 6 copies of in either streaming or network TV.
It's like they created all these shows just so they can cancel them, because they are doing their best to actually burn every trace they ever existed.
Shitflix is killing creativity in every form, but in the end, that will be their undoing.

NETFLIX - don’t be a coward and renew Shadow and Bone for season 3 and give the Crows the spin off they deserve!!! Don’t let this be about numbers, it’s clear people care about this show, and if you want some good attention for your company after so many unnecessary cancellations in the past - The OA, I Am Not Okay With This, and One Day At A Time, to name a few - don’t waste your chance on renewing a show that brings so many people joy (including me)!

Warrior Nun & Shadow And Bone Prove 1 Harsh Reality About Netflix Series
"Warrior Nun and Shadow And Bone, despite having passionate fan bases, were canceled by Netflix, causing viewers to run fan campaigns and question the streaming giant's decision-making process.
Netflix has a history of canceling shows with devoted followings, potentially causing subscribers to lose interest in the platform and its new offerings.
The frequent cancellations of beloved shows like Warrior Nun and Shadow And Bone are eroding the trust of Netflix subscribers, making them more hesitant to invest time in new television shows on the platform.
Warrior Nun and Shadow And Bone's Netflix cancelation cements one harsh truth about the streaming platform and its future. Although Netflix has always had a "cancelation problem" for quite some time, the streaming giant's hasty revocation of television shows is becoming increasingly controversial. Seemingly popular shows like Shadow And Bone and Warrior Nun are getting premature closures, which may not seem like a big deal in the short run but could eventually spell trouble for the streaming giant for several reasons.
Based on Ben Dunn's comic-book character Warrior Nun Areala, Netflix's Warrior Nun received mixed reviews after season 1 but still got renewed for season 2 because of its commercial success. Strangely, even though season 2 outperformed its predecessor, Netflix decided to cancel the series, prompting viewers to start social media campaigns to demand its return. Shadow and Bone has also had a similar run on the streaming giant, where both of its seasons have earned rave reviews from critics. However, despite its critical acclaim, the possibility of the fantasy show's season 3 return has been discarded by Netflix, revealing one painful reality about the streaming service's future.
Warrior Nun and Shadow And Bone's recent seasons may not have performed as well as Netflix had hoped. However, both shows have massive fan bases. The fact that their viewers are actively rallying around them post-cancellation and running fan campaigns to bring them back proves that they have a passionate following but still got canceled by the streaming giant. Warrior Nun and Shadow And Bone are not the first two shows to meet this fate. Series like The OA, 1899, and I'm Not Okay With This showed immense potential in their opening seasons and even earned worldwide critical acclaim. Unfortunately, that did not hold Netflix back from canceling them because their financial returns and viewership numbers did not match the streaming service's expectations
Netflix now has a long history of abruptly canceling shows with fervent fanbases. Creators like The OA's Brit Marling have also opened up about this issue by saying that there is likely a discrepancy in Netflix's financial model if the streaming platform is not able to find a way to effectively monetize so many beloved shows. These concerns surrounding Netflix's approach to deciding the fate of TV shows make sense because they may cause subscribers to lose interest and eventually give up on the streaming platform, regardless of how many good shows it produces.
Viewers invest a significant chunk of their time and mental energy into attaching themselves to the well-written characters in shows like Warrior Nun, The OA, Shadow And Bone, and I'm Not Okay With This. Owing to this, the sudden cancelation of these shows makes viewers reluctant to invest their time in the new offerings on the streaming platform. With frequent cancelations of so many adored television shows like Warrior Nun and Shadow And Bone, Netflix is gradually eroding the trust of its subscribers, making them more cautious about starting new television shows."
GOOD. The sooner Netflix goes off a cliff, the better. I've had a sick sense for some time that the Hollywood studios are colluding to sabotage projects for new actors, not of their choosing and pushing bad projects, deliberately. We keep getting the same actors, mostly older, again and again. Fans should be able to enjoy stories and actors of their own choosing, not continually get pushed someone's pet because they have the bigger pr firm. They're blocking new stars from emerging, so they can pay less.

I’m literally never watching a Netflix original show again until it’s finished. Not canceled, finished. I am SICK of getting invested in these shows only for them to be cancelled after one or two seasons. It’s exhausting and not worth it. Archive 81, 1899, Warrior Nun—and that’s just this year! Sense8, Santa Clarita Diet, The OA, Glow, and so many others from past years, they didn’t deserve cancellation either! Netflix is just too unpredictable and downright stupid when it comes to renewing or cancelling shows. Good reviews and ratings don’t seem to matter, hell I don’t even know what does matter, but the chances of renewal for a show on Netflix are so fucking slim compared to other streaming channels. 1899 would have had a full three seasons literally anywhere else. I was nervous the moment it aired just because I knew how Netflix is. This is ridiculous, there’s plenty of other shows on other channels that I can trust will be renewed if they do well. I’m done wasting my time and energy on Netflix. I sincerely hope they stop getting pitches and offers for shows and movies because of the rate (and lack of reasoning?) in which the axe them. Surely if you’re making a show the last place you’d want it to land is Netflix. Idk I’m rambling I’m just so mad!!!!! It just doesn’t make any sense when the show did so well!!!! That’s like firing one of your best employees for no reason! Seriously, what even was their reason?! It may not have done as well as Wednesday, but 1899 got great reviews and was in the top 10 for weeks—in several counties, no less! Whatever, I’m just not gonna trust any shows they put out like ever again, no matter how well they do. Because it doesn’t mean anything.

hal trying to calm sinestro down due to him having a breakdown
It's a typical day on Oa. Kilowog is beating up recruits, the Guardians are being unhelpful, and Sinestro is strutting past with his nose in the air, a perfect picture of righteous indignation.
Hal can't help it. Amused and curious, he bounds after Sinestro like an eager puppy.
Only one thing, or person, can pull Sinestro from his black mood and it arrives in a sparkle of green flitting through the sky and stumbling inelegantly on the ground. Hal Jordan is a beacon of light through everything.
"Hey, Sin." With a leap, Hal is back in the air, can't stay away from it, as he flies backwards before Sinestro's approach. "Let me guess... The stars just aren't aligning in that perfect orderly manner today?"
"No..." It all comes rushing back to Sinestro and his eyes glow with renewed ire. "I intend to have someone disciplined."
That does surprise Hal and he examines Sinestro closely. "It's not me, is it?" he jokes.
"Of course not," Sinestro snaps, temper flaring. "Be reasonable. I would have spoken to you about it." He glances up at Hal and then says tersely, "Would it kill you to walk on the ground? That is what it is there for."
Lips pursed, Hal looks down. "It would kill me if the floor was made of lava - yellow lava," he points out. "I'm being responsible, thinking ahead to the possible dangers in my future." He smiles benignly.
Before the smile has time to fully form on Hal's face, he's grabbed by Sinestro, hands on his shoulders and a fierce yellow gaze gripping him even tighter.
"You are," Sinestro says and there's so much intensity in him that it makes Hal's skin tingle. "Never be told otherwise. This Corps is honoured by you as I am honoured." He's fierce, searching Hal's face for acknowledgement. "There is none more deserving."
It stuns Hal who rarely sees Sinestro in such a state. Sure, Sinestro gets worked up over injustice and disorder on occasion but this time, it's all on Hal's behalf.
As Sinestro turns away, his lips are curled into a snarl. "Now to ensure the rest of the Corps understands it," he declares, mostly to himself.
It clicks into place for Hal then and he grabs Sinestro's shoulder. "Sinestro -" He's still having trouble really believing it. "I appreciate the thought but don't you think that's a bit much? You can't make the Guardians punish everyone who doesn't like me. Be reasonable."
Uninterested in Hal's hopeless penchant for forgiveness, Sinestro waves him away. "This is reasonable. Your place is worth more than theirs."
All 3600 Lanterns can be thrown out if it means Hal will stay and Sinestro doesn't need to say it. That's written in his willpower, like iron, backing Hal without doubt.
Hal takes a step and then he's pulling Sinestro into a tight hug. "You're so... you, sometimes," he growls it into Sinestro's ear, part frustration, part gratitude. "But I really need you to think, hmm?" He steps back. "What can they do against us? They don't mean anything."
And it is true, Sinestro knows. He's acting emotionally, really truly desiring to simply end the issue of the ignorant and have revenge. Still, they are significant. He defers to Hal's judgement.

I think she will get more movie roles now
Only if Netflix decides to renew her show. Netflix regularly signs shows up for only two seasons, and traditionally axes them after those two if they don’t do well.
They put her show’s premier alongside the premier of The Crown - their juggernaut, which says a lot to me. 👎
In my opinion, she’d have to be a better actress and get work through her work, and not just through her relationship with a man. It seems to me that what they’re trying to generate is like a quasi-nepotism, but like with any nepo baby, relationships can open doors, but only if you can perform. If you can’t, doors will close quickly.

So netflix password sharing crackdown just seems like such an awful idea. I get they think they're going to get more subscribers out of this and try to make it look like they're experiencing growth, but I think they're vastly overestimating how many people will keep their accounts/make new ones instead of just cancelling or not bothering to sign up when they lose access through family/friends. Like, honestly, if my MIL didn't regularly use our netflix (and we her Prime), we probably would have cancelled a while back. A lot of the things we used to enjoy on the platform are now on other platforms, and I sincerely cannot think of the last time Netflix was my first, second, or even third choice when I turned on the tv to start watching something, outside of a few specific shows.
Now they've gone and cancelled The Umbrella Academy (then cut its final season tragically short), which is just following the trend of shows that I've loved and have been critically acclaimed, and netflix just tossed aside like trash while keeping actual trash going. It's fucking criminal that The Get Down and Sense8 were cancelled. I'm also super disappointed about Altered Carbon, First Blood, Dead to Me, Midnight Club (and I guess I can't entirely blame them for Jessica Jones and Punisher given Marvel shenanigans, but I am salty about it still, and sort of blame them for Luke Cage). And while I personally didn't get to watch the shows yet, I know many people who were crushed over GLOW, Santa Clarita Diet, the OA, 1899, Inside Job, etc.
They say a reason for this push is so they have more $$ for their original content--but it's not content I want to fucking watch. Why should I pay you so you can give assholes like Dave Chapelle a continued platform to spout hate, where Big Mouth and Emily in Paris and Fuller House kept getting renewed when I've never heard a single good thing about any of them and no one seems to want anymore (even if some were popular in the beginning, now everyone's wondering why they're still being made)? Where they constantly churn out expensive and poorly received shows (both by critics and audiences) that get cancelled almost immediately instead of continuing to invest in the good content? Where they have a tendency to cancel any shows with queer and or poc leads hella fast?
They only see what shows are worth as far as revenue, and I'm not naive, I get that a company has to make money and turn a profit to keep going. But the soulless way they cancel shows that are adored by critics and audiences alike because it didn't get just the right numbers in their fucked up algorithm means they're gonna lose me as a customer as soon as I've decided they're more trouble than they're worth.

The thing is - nobody is making intelligent TV series. They are all run of the mill, done before a million times.
Except Netflix was one of the only networks that used to take a chance on them. Where else could we have had Sense8 or the OA. But now even they are refusing to renew these kinds of stories which only leaves HBO and they just been bought out by discovery. They are and will in the future face similar issues.
So basically that's it. We all have to be dumb now and watch dumb things and pretend to be amused and entertained.

MODYUL 5: Kaunlarang pangkasarian
