The Math of “I’m not Like Other Girls”

The other day, when Mocks ended I decided to treat myself to a day of ✨self care✨, when I found this gem, right here:

This picture piqued my interest, and sent a flurry of questions racing through my mind.

Why does OP believe that Big Macs are a sign of being different™?

Does that mean that my brother is not like other girls?

Does OP realise that she is insinuating that “other girls” wear 22 Kilograms of makeup?

And most importantly, how much would it cost the other girls to wear 50 lbs (22 kg) of makeup everyday, every year, for the rest of their lifetimes?

So, I did the math.

I assumed that when OP states that other girls “wear 50 pounds of makeup”, she means that they wore that much makeup on the daily.

I browsed YouTube for “Everyday Makeup” tutorials and found one by Roxette Arisa with about 8 products listed.

The total weight of the products summed up to 5.69 oz.

I now needed to find the number of containers required for a day’s application, to find the cost of the makeup, so I came up with an equation. I divided the weight of one container of product by 5.69 and then multiplied the result by 50.

This then gave me the number of containers I would need for 50 pounds worth of makeup on my face.

1 bottle of Brow Gel

2 bottles of Concealer

2 containers of Highlighter

2 containers of Blush

3 containers of Powder Foundation

3 bottles of Lipstick

4 containers of Blotting Powder

36 bottles of Setting Spray

Now that I had the number of containers, I simply mutliplied that by the cost of a single unit;

Brow gel - $16.00

Concealer - $60.00

Powder Foundation - $93.00

Blotting Powder - $112.00

Highlighter - $58.00

Blush - $28.00

Lipstick - $19.50

Setting Spray - $1170.00

This totals to $1548.50.

With numerous calculations, I reached the conclusion that an average “other girl” would spend about $33,182,109.68 across her life time over 50 lbs of makeup.

For perspective, that’s:

£ 25,106,413.74 (GBP)

€ 29,418,926.62 (EUR)

₹ 2,288,968,289.95 (INR)

¥ 222,841,093.98 (CNY)

DHS 121,884,525.28 (AED)

Thereby, destroying OP’s conjecture that the “other girls” (whom she is MOST DEFINITELY NOT LIKE) wear 50 pounds of makeup, which is both physically and financially impossible.
