stanley is a people watcher

stanley uris is a quiet boy and he's always been the quietest of the losers

it's just something that runs in the uris family, they're very calm and quiet people with a lot of secrets and unspoken words. every time stanley talks more than he should or louder than he should he gets this "be quiet, it's inappropriate" look so stanley just behaves and observes

it's just easier to learn what dad's face looks like when he's silently angry so you don't get scolded, it's just easier to memorize mother's breathing rate when she's annoyed. stanley was a people watcher from a young age because he always had to predict his parents' moods

stanley is a people watcher and it's something that he hates about himself. he knows people too well

he just knows why bev's cheeks turn all red when she's looking at bill he just knows why ben's all sad when he sees bev and bill together he just knows when mike's smile is fake because he's sad and needs extra care he just knows why richie's smile fades when he sees eddie not laughing at his joke he just knows exactly what eddie looks like when he's just pretending to be disgusted by richie ("idiots") and he knows for sure that bill doesn't love him the way he loves bill

stanley is a people watcher and he hates it because no one watches him. because stan is a closed book and most people don't try to go deeper than what they see. they see that he's a calm and quiet boy just like his parents taught him to be and that's okay for everyone

that's why stanley prefer watching birds instead. who knows what's going on in those little minds?

stanley is one of the main reasons why the losers are alive, because he's smart and actually knows A LOT about survival thanks to being a scout. he is in charge of scouting in general and also he's the one who finds a proper place for a camp, because he knows where to place it right so the losers could have access to drinkable water, usable soil, and also a good camp should be well hidden yet you should be able to see your enemy from a distance stanley isn't a fighter, the only infected he's killed in ~5 years were his own parents. the others know how it's affected him so they never push him to be violent, usually stan stays at the camp and does gardening/laundry or helps eddie (they're kinda nurses for the whole camp), he also tries to make the camp feel more like home for everyone, but mostly for himself. he really clings to the old life and he grabs every opportunity he can to keep his fantasy alive. stanley does little things like clean his shoes or fill his planner or paint richie/bill's nails or make his and bill's bed, as if it matters. stanley tries very hard to forget all the nightmares they've been though, but it's really hard stan thinks about death a lot. it's hard not to think about it when you have to deal with it every day. he thinks of himself as the weakest and he's very afraid of letting everyone down. his ocd is getting worse as well as his depression. he is very grateful to the others for looking after him yet he still feels like a burden stanley finds comfort in wearing bill's old flannels as close to his skin as possible. he has lost weight and his beauty sleep from stress. beverly cuts his hair the way it used to be because it comforts him too. he wears a compass on his belt and never lets go of his star of david necklace

bill doesn't have any special skills to help his friends with the camp, but he does know how to keep the spirit up. he's the leader of this group and he tries to help with the planning, he and stanley are on the look out a lot, bill also goes hunting with mike or scavenging with beverly, and he helps ben with finding resources/building stuff. he's not afraid of zombies anymore and he's always ready to blow off some steam by killing infected bill has a lot of stress and anxiety. he worries about stanley a lot, and he's gotten into the habit of doing little "normal" things because they make stanley happier. bill is turning gray from the stress, and he also has a few bald spots on the back of his head. bill sleeps more than he should. he always has his little notebook with him because he's still writing stories, and stanley loves them a lot it's not that bill doesn't miss their old life, he just doesn't think about it anymore, he misses it but he doesn't mourn it because he sees what's going on around him, but he tries not to be hard on stanley because he knows stan needs more time bill stopped cutting his hair almost at the beginning of the virus because there were bigger problems than finding a hair band. he is very insecure about losing his hair. it's not like he talks about it with anyone but stanley. bill really, really likes it when stan braids his hair, it comforts him a lot

bill has become overprotective of the losers, but especially of stanley. they're always together when bill's in camp and they're always very close, they're always holding hands or sitting on each other's laps or hugging each other in any way possible or crossing legs, it's like they need living proof that they're both here. bill is very overprotective, like a mama bear kind of overprotective, and it didn't occur to him until eddie told him one day that he was acting like eddie's mother. he tries to be less intense, but it seems like it comforts stanley too they got "married" a few nights after they found richie. of course it's not legally official or anything like that. it was the first time stan told bill that he couldn't handle everything was going on, and bill promised him that they would make it no matter what. they are both wearing heart necklaces and their rings that they stole from one of the shops

they have lots of things to identify each other if they need to, like matching necklaces and rings, but they also have secret markers, like a piece of cloth on bill's leg or little hand-drawn hearts on stanley's arms

okay i want more IT headcanons so here i am and my stanbrough

bill is very clueless about romantic stuff and he's like "i really like hanging out with stan" but he actually having a crush on stanley and it got to the point where they're already married and he still says things like "yes this is stanley he is my best friend and.. OH and yes he's also my husband"

stanley on the other hand is pretty much aware of his crush on bill but he doesn't wanna throw it in a face so he's making little hints that he likes bill not because he's afraid of confessing his feelings i think it's just the way he is

and bill is OBLIVIOUS until one time stanley kisses him and he's like "oh THAT'S a homework you wanted to do together"

stanley: we should go to the library together (makes bill spend more time with him so bill could fall in love with him)

to be honest, i don't really see them as parents, so i decided to draw them with their younger versions!

i think they're both AMAZING with children but but but stanley loves his piece and quiet and if you dig deeper you'll find that he's afraid of being as terrible as his parents were (i feel like he has this little fear of becoming like his parents in general) bill loves kids a lot and i think he's more inclined to want one, but he's also suffering from ptsd after what happened with george and he's afraid of being an overprotective parent, but ALSO he's afraid of not being there for his kid at the right time and you never know when the right time is, so it's kinda a lose-lose situation and they're the best gay uncles you could ever ask for, because bill will play with you all day and tell you the best stories about werewolves, and stanley will let you to do that thing that your parents told you not to do

now that i think about it they would make great parents but they are both too scared haha

stanbrough and marriage

stanley is the one who plans his whole life ahead. he just feels safer knowing every step that he's going to take, and to be honest, he was not planning on marrying bill

maybe it's his inner homophobia, but he's never really considered the idea of getting married. like, marriage?? that's something normal people can have, and i am not normal, so it doesn't matter. stanley finds immense happiness when he's with bill, and he doesn't need a ring to prove it

bill has been planning this for months. no, years. he's a jim halpert of this relationship and yes he bought a ring, like when he first thought "i love him so much I'm gonna cry". but it was too soon to propose right away even though they'd known each other all their lives, bill knew they needed more time

bill has been planning this for years and still he can't find the right moment. everything feels like it's not the best time. eddie is the first to know of bill's intentions and he tries to encourage bill but bill wants it to be perfect and it's never perfect enough, he needs this moment to be as perfect as stanley

the right moment comes, and it's not when they're having dinner in a fancy restaurant or when the sun is setting and turning stanley's curls a pinkish ginger. bill is doing the dishes and stanley is sitting next to him reading a new soon-to-be-a-book by some william denbrough. bill notices how soft and tender stanley is smiling at something that happens in chapter two. it's a small detail but it means a lot. bill realizes that there will never be a perfect moment. actually, every moment has been perfect because every moment of their life together has been filled with love. bill wastes no time and gets down on one knee to ask the riskiest question of his life. "will you be my h-h-husband?" he stutters, although he hasn't stuttered in a long time. stanley nods in shock and immediately hugs bill, accidentally knocking him to the floor where they both end up laying and laughing and maybe crying a little

they have a very small ceremony, just friends, because bill's family doesn't care much and stanley's family is hella homophobic. the wedding is semi-traditional, quite a bit. stanley and bill break a glass together, while beverly cries and richie considers to finally committing to adulthood. his eyes are laid on eddie's happy smile

stanley takes bill's surname because he doesn't wanna be associated with his parents anymore and it makes him even happier now, he likes the sound of it. stanley denbrough. what a sound!

bill planned too much and stanley, to his own surprise, didn't plan it at all, and yet it all worked out
