The Jewel is a part of Singapore’s Changi Airport.
You don’t have to be passenger to be able to visit. The Jewel is open to the public!
As soon as you enter the Jewel (through the main entrance), you are greeted by this massive 41-meter-tall waterfall (pictured above). It’s said that this is the tallest indoor waterfall in the world.
The waterfall is also known as the HSBC Vortex and is the centerpiece of the Jewel!
The waterfall is located in the middle of a tropical rain forest known as the Shiseido Forest Valley. The entire concept was to present visitors to the Jewel that Singapore was and, to a certain extent, is still a rain forest.
The best part about the Forest Valley is that you can go for a mini hike around the forest. There are two trails. the East and the West!
If you look carefully, you will notice a bridge-like structure on the left side of the waterfall. These are the train tracks for the airports Sky Train.
The purpose of the Sky Train, is to take you from one terminal to the other. All terminals apart from terminal 4 have Sky Trains.
If you wish to get close to the waterfall in the Sky Train, board the Sky Train from Terminal 2 in the airport heading towards Terminal 3 and vice versa. The Sky Train then heads into the mall and close to the waterfall!
