My 5 wishes for S5:

YASAMMY!! Give them everything they deserve. If they can focus so much on brookji in S4 then they can focus so much on yasammy in S5. It's about time these two got together

Apparently benrius isn't canon, which is a shame (ah, nostalgia. benrius is how I made a name for myself) However I want lots of scenes between them because what they've got going is good

Give us more ben and yaz bonding, they're so funny together

Show us how Brook and Kenji's relationship changes throughout the season

Show us the campers with their families. We've heard so much about them, and now it's time to see them

so swrve posted a new video on the chaos theory news about an hour ago, here's a rundown of the major points:

direct sequel to jw:cc

expected release date of summer/fall 2024

trailer coming out "soon" (could be next week, could be the end of 2023, who knows)

same platform and animation style as original series

taking place on the mainland

6 news dinos! allosaurus, becklespinax, atrociraptor, pachyrinosaurus, suchomimus, & ankylosaurus

said ankylosaurus will have a paticularly "unique" personality and name?

darius will be returning, most likely as the main lead! looks a lot older than he did in the s5 epilogue; series confirmed to take place post-fallen kingdom and post-battle at bigrock

as for the rest of the campers: no word on anyone else yet, but brooklynn isn't expected to make much of a comeback, if at all. if it isn't just for plot reasons, this one doesn't surprise me too much—jenna ortega's (brooklynn's VA) probably super busy with wednesday right now, as well as a bunch of other bigger projects. crossing my fingers we still get a good cameo, tho 🤞

new character! name's sydney; not much known about her other than that she's an amputee

and that's about it! trying to keep an open mind as we wait for more details to roll out 💆

brooooo the way some be/nji shippers completely disregarded the importance of darius's character in favor of pushing their own ship was actually so infuriating. maybe if they only did it with the monorail scene it wouldn't bother me so much since kenji was shaken up by ben's "death" but no they did it with EVERYTHING. "kenji spent every day and night dreaming about ben" this and "kenji would have dragged ben back to the boat if he tried staying behind on the island" that. yeah you mean like darius??? you mean like the literal main character of the show??? ERGH it'll never not drive me up the wall

i am SO GLAD other people have noticed this 😭 me and my bestie have been bothered about dinotwt’s behavior for YEARS.

personally it’s the monorail scene itself being turned into a ben/ji moment that bothers me most. because darius is the only one who tried to save ben from falling. DARIUS. darius is the one who couldn’t save him. DARIUS. but noooo they focused on how… *checks notes* kenji fell to his knees during a quick shot instead.

i’m not sure how the shippers are on this site because all my interaction with the jwcc fandom was solely on twt, but i find it Very interesting how important moments in darius and ben’s relationship are taken from them and pushed onto ben and kenji instead. darius unable to keep hold of ben? let’s make it about kenji instead. darius having nightmares about ben? no, obviously that was kenji having those! if they weren’t so obsessed with claiming benrius is problematic, they’d clearly be fans of the ship. that’s why they take all its material and give it to be/nji 💀 it also feels weird to me that they were so intent on demonizing a queer ship that involved a black boy, but maybe i’m just reaching there. i dunno

putting shipping aside, it is just downright antiblack to take pivotal moments of the black mc’s development and make them entirely about a nonblack character. why are you so allergic to letting the black character have focus? when black people already have such small amounts of decent representation in media, especially as main characters? it angers me so much.

tldr darius (and benrius) deserved better from the fandom (and the show, but that’s a convo for another time).

Was rewatching Camp Cretaceous S2 and at the watering hole episode I realized that in the background the Tree House is not complete in this episode.

The Tree house model is missing the top floor it seems, you know the one where darius bed is with that little corner area (But we see yaz coming down from there so??)

Anyway this sparks the thought. If we assume this isnt an error and they hadn't finished that area yet. It means they did it after Ben was back.

Where was darius sleeping? The couch? Did they rotate the beds, so when one was up for watch someone used their bed and so on? Did the girls share so it was enough beds?

And after the season they finished building the upper floor. And we know the bed there is Darius' cause Brand says so. So they got a bed for Darius.

But not one for Ben?

Honestly I think jwcc is gonna be roman empire forever, more specifically S4 and 5, because of how much the writers ruined all of their characters arcs and growths.

I think S1-3 were just perfect. Ok maybe they weren't actually perfect, but for they were setting out to do it was superb. The writers were establishing dynamics and relationships and conflicts, external and internal, so well. It's almost hard to believe that such a grounded brilliant story fell apart in the last two seasons. I generally cannot fathom how they were the same writers. For example, in S3 Ben and Darius have this long arc about forgiving each other and coming to understand each other after the monorail. It was beautiful and slow paced and just a great character study. So when the end of S3 happened, and Darius and Kenji were clearly fighting, I figured they would kinda do the same thing for them. Instead the two forgave each other in less then five minutes and then they just never speak on it again. I can't be only one that just finds that so odd?

Another thing I think really ruined the show was the forced romance between Brooklynn and Kenji. It was out of left field, it didn't make sense, and it completely undermined their characters. To me, the show always presented their bond as brother and sister, but honestly if the writers had done it better maybe (MAYBE) I could've gotten behind it. They just made it so hard to route for them. First of all because of the romance, the two of them weren't really allowed to interact with the others. Like yes they did, but not in meaningful ways like they had before. Also something that irks me to no end is them playing off Kenji so vigorously trying to save Brooklynn at the end of S3 only because he had a crush on her. That's such a misinterpretation of his character, because S3 Kenji would've acted like that if ANY of the crew were in that situation. They became the only family he ever had, and to say that all of that was just because of a crush? Oh don't get be started. Also it just made Brooklynn a shell of the character she once was. I was so upset in S5 when the only thing she got to do was mope about Kenji's betrayal. She deserved more development and screen time, and just everything really. Their romance did a huge disservice to them both.

Third point, I really hate how they played off everyone not having PTSD, especially Darius. I was very happy that Yaz had that arc in S5 and how they showed how it really got to her. But when the rest of the group said everyone was fine, especially Darius? The same Darius that felt endlessly burdened with leading? The same Darius that had nightmares about his father and Ben after he lost them? The same Darius that let everything get to him even when he knew it shouldn't? THE SAME CHARACTER THAT WAS ALONE ALL OF S4 AND THE WRITERS DID NOTHING WITH??? Ohhhh one day these writers will pay for the way they sidelined THEIR MAIN CHARACTER. Darius deserved that arc, and he deserved an arc that allowed him to step out of the leadership role. Like yes that was technically S4, but it was handled in such a bad way and it really didn't present any growth for him or the crew. Just a wasted opportunity.

I think at their core, the problems with S4 and S5 lie with the direction the writers wanted to take it. As soon as the group ended up at this highly technological island I knew it was over. Not to say advanced stuff is bad, the hybrids were always sick, and I even thought the mind controlling was a good moral dilemma, but everything else? It was so tiring and frustrating, like damn I don't care about the brads or this island, or these random ass characters you introduced. I think the writers just really lost sight of what made the show so great in the first place, the main characters. Yes the plot was amazing, but the brilliant cast of characters and their ever changing dynamics and lives was what really brought it home. When you erase all of the development you've been building up for three seasons in favor of a incredulously complicated and over done plot that side lined your main cast what can you expect? It seems voltron was in fact a harbinger for this show. One day dreamworks will learn how to not fall off mid show, but it appears that's not any time soon.
