it's kinda funny that some people seem to think eggman has a soft spot for kids or something because of his relationship with sage like have you guys not seen the way he interacts with 90 percent of the other characters in this franchise . hes constantly fighting with teenagers and little kids and putting them in danger he does NOTTTT care lmao

I would love to know more about the plot idea that inspired your art with Metal Overlord and Sage!
Tumblr media
Oh man, I kinda forgot most of it but I'll say what I remember ;u; I don't actually have this one very planned since it was a random idea I had, so if anyone would like to add stuff to it or just draw this Sage, feel free to do so. Also, I have other story ideas that are relatively more well planned I guess, so I can talk about those too if anyone is interested. Might add a small sketch for them like I did here too
This idea is actually more about an evil Sage who was overtaken by a virus, the government's fault for learning about her and wanting to control her probably. I kinda wanted something that was against her own programming or ideals, confusing her so much to the point of breaking or being corrupted.
Not sure what her goal would be. Maybe destroying the world, destroying only the humans or just take control of everything and everyone. Maybe a corrupted way of love that would make her want to shape the world however she thinks it should be.
She's able to take control and overwrite any robot/machine's purpose, all except for Metal (because unconscious sibling bonding or something).
I didn't actually plan on adding Overlord (or Neo) to this, I only wanted to draw him and OvertakenSage because of the cool factor (lol).
As to why he joined her, not sure either. Could be him wanting to stop her, fear of her taking control over him too, or just doing it because of his own goal like waiting for the perfect moment to strike and him being the one with control over everything. Maybe he doesn't even join her and actually joins whoever tries to stop her, idk
I'm also not sure what would happen to Eggman, or what he would do, all I know is Sage would be against him too. If he would be temporary ally to Sonic and friends or just hide on his own, depends on how it sounds more interesting.
The biggest inspirations for this are actually 3 different things: 1, me wanting to make a virus/apocalypse thing because I have fun with that type of stories, kinda like the whole metal virus stuff (I actually have a different story idea with something more similar to that I guess). 2, stories about computer viruses, specially the "I love you" one. And 3, a song that might be based on that, is called "INFeCTIoN" by VocaCircus, really good song, I like it a lot. I guess there's a bit of inspiration from robot apocalypse movies too? I haven't actually watched that many so...
But yeah, that's my "Overtaken AI" au. Again, it's not very well planned because I'm not even sure if I'll actually use this for anything other than drawings and maybe some small scenes about it, I really just wanted to make my own evil Sage design yay

I don't have any problems with that answer except for Eggman saying Sage is the reason he keeps existing LMFAO lying ass. he loves himself and lives for himself and the world he wants to rule, he always had the will to exist and the determination to keep going because it's always been officially listed as one of his greatest strengths and why he's been so committed to keep trying to take over the world for over 30 years
though at the same time it's funny that his own creation is a reason he keeps existing from the perspective of like, he made something that's genuinely useful and valuable, willing and loyal and successful on all accounts for a change with Sage compared to the likes of Orbot and Cubot and all his failed creations so he's like "add that to my reasons of why I haven't given up and killed myself yet, this brilliant impressive creation proves my genius and worth and right to take over and rule the world" :P
I also like even more how this can apply to the whole making Metal Sonic jealous with his value of Sage over him concept
but also this is coming from the takeover where they made Shadow a Taylor Swift fan and is clearly just the US team having fun and not something written by the big writers and going through tons of checks and guidance to get published like the games, so it's really not that deep and we're chill XD

Eggman, Sage and Metal can now receive questions and will be used for random art pieces for the Au.
Little bit about the three (+ the hotel itself a bit):
Eggmanland-Hotel:
The hotel was built by Eggman who is currently undergoing a redemption arc. Which means that he will try to be good, but fail. Don't expect perfection, he's trying his best.
Why he's redeeming? Simple, he was lonely and then discovered that he still has an alive relative (Shadow) and decided to give his best shot by giving him a good life instead of doing the things in Sonic Adventure 2.
He tried a few work places while trying to give Shadow some sort of a childhood. Unfortunately he can't really do anything because of his past as a villain so he decided to buy some land and build the Eggmanland-Hotel.
It was hard to get anyone to work with him due to the past villainy so he first tried to build several robots to do the job.
Unfortunately the only one who was capable enough was Metal Sonic.
At some point Amy joined in and some followed after her which made it much easier for him to find someone for the work.
Eggman discovered the way of outsourcing after a while and decided to do that to make the work easier.
(Outsourcing: use a different company for specific kinds of work, like security, housekeeping, cooks etc)
He got some people for the night shifts and some for the housekeeping because the rest of the workplaces had enough people and these kinds of workplaces were understaffed.
There is no real need for security because this is more of a hotel for families with children.
It has:
-2 playgrounds (one specifically for toddlers, the other for children), they are next to each other
-daycare (no matter how much a parent loves their child, sometimes they need a break)
-a chao garden
-a restaurant
-and all the other stuff a hotel needs
Eggman:
He is the owner and manager. He tries his best with the work plans but unfortunately it is hard to plan ahead in a hotel because guests are unpredictable. So he is currently trying to just make the workplans for the next two weeks. (which also is hard due to the unpredictability of the guests)
He adopted Shadow after finding him and decided to call Metal his son as well. Shadow asked him to adopt Rouge as well after a while and at some point he created Belle and Sage.
On April the first, Shadow and Rouge decided to ask him for a younger sibling as a joke.
Fortunately, Eggman forgot to look at the calendar and created Omega e-123.
Cubebot and Orbbot are often the babysitters for them.
Metal
There isn't much to tell about her except that she is still mute and discovered that she's actually a girl. Eggman was first confused but got over it like a day after the revelation because he researched a lot.
So a few changes have been made.
She works in the hotel, but mostly in the kitchen to cook something or helps with the dishes.
She seems to be having fun at the work place because everyone is very nice.
Eggman is afraid that she might find out that not everyone is like that which is why she works at the stations with the least people around her. (Yes, Metal already knows, Eggman is just very terrified of making any kinds of mistakes)
Sage
She goes to school and is in the same class as Tails.
She also has some cat ears to look more alike with her siblings.
Unfortunately I have not many plans for her except for the the fact that she is the young sibling who is filled with more love than anyone can ever feel. (based on my youngest sister. I love her very much. I hope she'll always feel happiness no matter the situation.)
I also hate how good it turned out.
Like, it started like this:

Well, first of all, the production team of Marder of Sonic supports egg dad https://twitter.com/deegeemin/status/1702181140499718415 https://www.tumblr.com/deegeemin/728409051823849472/i-didnt-think-the-t-shirt-eggman-put-on-sage-was?source=share
Same goes for danny But do those people have any complaints about frontiers? think there is anything that could be improved? Yes, I think so However,
just like sonictubers (with a few exceptions), you talk about everything as if everything is bad without mentioning the good points or things you like. Oh, like forces? Can it behave differently than sonictuber or other fans? Is there any reason? You all frantically worship what you like and curse those who support you hate guys. What is the difference between you and those people you hate? How ridiculous
Again, says the person who acts like a hive-mind and constantly berates anyone who doesn't like the direction of the franchise they grew up with and adored.
Also, links aren't working right, but it's basically the little gag moment at the end of the visual novel where SAGE and Metal Sonic are wearing the 'go dad' shirts, even though it wouldn't work for an AI.
Go find people who ride the content ruining Sonic as much as you, hive-mind anon. I'm on a plane and won't be responding to you no more.

Mario & Sonic Party part 3
(Part 1) (Part 2)
Okay, now we're doing Minigame Mode
So the framing device for the Minigame Mode menu as a whole as well as the Free Play menu is that Peach's Castle ended up in Spagonia and the Submode Selection and Minigame Selection uses magic portal paintings like in Super Mario 64, with Toadsworth and Professor Pickle curating the gallery. If a submode or minigame is still locked, the painting will be obscured by abstract blobs of color.
Fishing Battle
That one mode in nearly every Mario Party where you pick a minigame category (4-Player, 2-vs-2 and 1-vs-3) and whether you need 3, 5, or 7 victories to win. In this case, it's represented by the Players' characters fishing with Big and a Lakitu, and when you win a minigame you catch a fish.
Duel Simulator
Professor E. Gadd and Eggman Nega's laboratories got fused together in such a way that the doors are missing, and they've decided to make the most of it and simulate the playable characters going head-to-head in Duel Minigame Tournaments. We've got the two duels in round 1, then the 3rd-4th playoff, then the final round, as you'd expect. The Players can decide who squares off with who in the first round.
Extreme Racing
The single player Minigame Endurance mode. The Player must compete in 100 consecutive Minigames of any type (except Item and Boss Minigames) and can only lose 3 times before getting a game over. The host duo and racecourse aesthetic are different depending on the difficulty level. On Easy, you race against Storm and the Spooky Speedster through ancient ruins, with elaborate depictions of both Ancient Babylonians and Thwomps carved into the walls. On Normal, you race against Wave and Koopa the Quick through a tunnel that appears to be part of an Eggman base, with a window on one side that reveals the tunnel is hanging over a lava lake near one of Bowser's Castles. On Hard, you race against Jet and Il Piantissimo on a path made of clouds and vines high in the sky, with Sky Babylon visible in the distance. On Master, you race against Metal Sonic 3.0 and a Cosmic Mario on a mechanical version of Rainbow Road, with both the Comet Observatory and a not-blown-up Death Egg visible in the distance. On Super, you're on a comically long wooden pier being chased by the Sonic Adventure Orca. It gives up and swims away at the halfway point, only to immediately be replaced by a giant Cheep-Cheep.
Tile Trial
It's basically just MP5's Mini-Game Wars with a bigger grid, because it's my favorite of the Colored Tile Minigame Submodes. Sticks and Orbulon are the Hosts because I think they'd play off each other well, and there's now a 2-vs-2 version called "Badgers Versus Aliens."
Chaothlon
The usual Minigame Decathlon framed as a Chao Race. It's hosted by Toad and Omochao, and every character uses a Chao that looks like them...with a few exceptions.
Cream obviously uses Cheese.
Ashley's Chao is clearly just Red under the effect of a transformation spell of some sort.
Petey Piranha uses a Nipper Plant
Bowser Jr. uses a Hero Chao wearing a Bandana identical to his.
Metal Sonic and Omega both use modified Omochao Because Robots.
Boss Rush
Kamek and Sage challenge 1 or 2 players to play every Boss Minigame back-to-back. The order is random, with the exception of Dimensional Collision Zone's boss, which is always last. This is the only way for Blaze, Ashley, Junior and Metal to fight the bosses, and it's probably a bit awkward for Junior and Metal because they are the boss fight for BowsEgg Battle Cruiser.
That's it for Minigame Mode, but this post ain't over yet!
Bonus Mode
The Dream World and Maginaryworld got fused just like everything else, but because they're both just Dreams it isn't that big a deal. So, Prince Dreambert and Illumina collaborated on three special dreams that house Bonus Games for the playable characters to enjoy.
MicroDream Mayhem
A single player bonus game hosted by Lumina. It's literally a WarioWare stage with "Mario + Sonic" as the theme. There's about 30 mirogames (which I will not be coming up with. nor will I be coming up with the Minigames. That Way Lies Madness.)
Dream Ralley
Four players race through a platforming course created by Dreambert, because of course you'd put platforming challenges into a crossover between two of the most famous platformer series of all time. Each difficulty level has three courses to choose from (Dreambert has a lot of free time).
Nightmare Shuffle
Void has created a few small, simple boards that use the mechanics of Sonic Shuffle instead of Mario Party. I bet you thought I forgot about Sonic Shuffle, didn't you?
Extras Mode
Hosted by Starlow and Shahra, this Mode houses the Star Bank and has some extra content that didn't quite fit in the other modes. Namely:
Unlockable figurines like the ones in MPDS.
3 special single-player Minigames.
Unlockable artwork of the characters, usually involving the various counterparts interacting.
The soundtrack, available for your perusal and listening pleasure.
Options Mode
Exactly what you expect. Hosted by a Goomba and an Egg Pawn.

Eggman scruffs the pups when they misbehave.
He's got dad vibes now and he doesn't know what to think about this.
He was already starting to get dad instincts before with Sage and Metal and now it's 10x worse. Best to just ignore it for now . . . except he can't ignore it because Sonic is on top of the fridge and that's NOT SAFE and Shadow's growling at the ceiling fan again and Silver fell asleep somewhere and Eggman can't find him and AH-

I'm feeling a bit "meh" and I'll give you some cookies if you have any other headcanons regarding the babygirl metal sonic 👉👈🥺 it's healing to hear people babble about them! sorry if this sounds kind of out-of-nowhere that's just the 'tism 🥺🎉
OH ABSOLUTELY
-The BIGGEST Hatsune Miku fan!! She looooves that fictional bitch, even got Cubot into her! Listens to her music on the daily and enjoys the songs that actually do sound more robotic
-I feel like when Sage first shows up, Metal is very much jealous of her instantly getting the daughter role, but hides it pretty okay from most people. Except, of course, Sage herself. It takes a long time for her to actually accept getting close to her new sister, but eventually she realizes that Sage isn’t the one to be upset with here. It’s him.
-So random, but. I feel like if Metal ever had the chance to be free as her own person, her snd Rouge would be fuckin besties. Amy invites them both on a girls day out and they instantly hit it off. Finally! Another girlie that won’t stop her from stealing a cute necklace!! Yknow
-Before being fully free, she’d like to change some things in her appearance and programming that are almost unnoticeable. A slightly more pink hue to her red eye, additions into her program to let her process things like music, ect ect. A small act of rebellion for a taste of freedom
-Adapts an odd fascination with nature. She was denied it her whole life, the allowance to stay there, observe it, nothing but destruction. One day she goes out into fully, committing herself to simply observe. Why was it so bad, anyways? She wanted an actual answer…she didn’t get one.

It looks like it's just a story that it owns the same engine parts as metal sonic
Honestly, now that the site no longer opens I wonder if that is correct as a source material
And if you're going to do the same for sage... it doesn't make sense, because then Kishimoto will be a person who can't even keep up with his own ideas...
Nope; Eggman literally has gutted his other robots for spare parts. Metal's no exception.

It's been about a week, so I feel like I can give my thoughts on how I feel about the new Sonic Frontiers ending that one will ever read, specifically regarding the final boss sequence. Spoilers for the new update, Persona 5, and Final Fantasy X after the break (bear with me on those last two).
So, Update 3 added a new phase to the Supreme fight, and it's pretty good, despite having a mechanic that's not all that intuitive, but that's a different issue I have. It also changed the fight against The End from the base game. Now it... doesn't happen. It's the fight against Supreme like in the base game, then The End appears and takes control over Supreme, and you fight Supreme under The End's control and destroy both at the end with Supreme's rifle charged with a berserk Super Sonic 2 (I think Supreme gets destroyed, anyway). Overall, the fight's pretty good, definitely one of the better Titan fights (I still think Giganto's the best), but I was left feeling a little disappointed both gameplay and narrative-wise.
I was always someone who was fine with The End's fight after Supreme in the base game. It brings back fighting beings we can't comprehend, something we haven't had since, man, Unleashed? Black Knight, I guess could also count? Basically, it's the first final boss we've had in quite a long time that wasn't related to Eggman. I think that's really cool.
What I really liked was The End talking smack to you for 3/4 of the fight. Going on about how the ancients failed to contain it despite sacrificing themselves and their society to do it. Then it asks Sonic and Sage "...and you?" So fucking cool.
This isn't in the updated fight.
The End just shows up in its moon-y glory and just hijacks Supreme saying "this is mine now" and the fight happens and it dies. The entire monologue is gone. To me, it makes The End not have a lasting impact. You beat up Supreme, then you fight Supreme again, only The End has it on a leash, then you beat both in a QTE/cutscene. There's nothing wrong with an enemy that doesn't get its hands dirty, but if you don't confront them directly, the conflict just doesn't feel that great, at least to me.
It's like in Persona 5 how I didn't really think much of the Okumura "boss". It's just a few waves of enemies with a larger one at the end, then you win. You don't actually fight him directly except at the very end where he doesn't do anything. Compared to the other palace bosses, it's just not good. We don't fight The End here, we fight a puppet and kill the one holding the strings in a cutscene. It doesn't feel good to me, despite the spectacle.
---
On the gameplay side, the base game fight kept the tradition of the final-final fight not controlling like usual but still feeling a little familiar. The Perfect Chaos controlled like normal-ish but you had to build up speed to damage him, Metal Overlord utilized Team Blast, Perfect Dark Gaia used the boost, etc. This time, The End controlled like the Ikaruga hacking minigames, only you had to actually try this time. I like shmups, so I was okay with it, but I also understand why people might not have liked it.
Again, this fight is removed.
This is probably just a me problem, but a Sonic game ending with a boss that handles the same as the base game just feels wrong to me. It's why I'm not big on Nega Wisp Armor, the final boss of Lost World, or Forces' Death Egg Robot (outside of the fact that they're all the same boss). The spectacle of a Sonic final boss is missing when the final boss is more of what we've already done. "Supreme End" is just another Titan fight. A good one, but we've done four of them already, and we're going to end on a fifth one? I dunno, it falls kind of flat to me.
Here's where my Final Fantasy X comparison comes into play. At the end of the game, we fight Braska's Final Aeon (BFA) and then do the Summoned Beast Battle sequence (SBB) where we fight our aeons and then Yu Yevon in what's basically a victory lap since the only way to die is to get the entire party petrified or ejected somehow since Auto-Life is always active. Base Frontiers would be like if we only had phase 1 of BFA (but with half the amount of HP to make it basically a non-issue) and then go straight into SBB. Then there's an update where, instead, we get that same phase 1 of BFA, but then we get the phase 2 of the fight (with 150% HP to get us back to the normal amount BFA has), but SBB is cut completely and Yu Yevon is defeated in a cutscene. Sure, BFA would be a cool fight, but I think something would be missing.
To tie this comparison back to the narrative issue I have, if you use Scan one of your possessed aeons (or have a weapon with Sensor), each aeon has something to say to you, essentially telling you that they know what needs to be done. That'd also be missing in this hypothetical scenario which would be a real shame since it's so cool and heartbreaking.
---
I dunno, I think the update should still have had the shmup segment or have something where you fight The End directly while it does its monologue to REALLY be awesome, as it feels a little lackluster to me. I know there's a mod that adds "Supreme End" as a phase between Supreme and The End to the non-update version of the last island, but it can only do so much with the assets the game has to offer, so it's a little awkward despite feeling better than both the base game's and update's ending.

Thoughts — Sonic Frontiers I've spent the past week playing through Sonic Frontiers and I have to say that I'm surprised. The game is actually pretty decent — something that feels surreal given how some of the previous games have been. It kind of reminds me of Sonic Adventure which is good. It's definitely a step in the right direction, and I hope Sonic Team expands upon what they've built here with Frontiers. The story, characterization, and exploration were the best parts. I do have a few critiques about certain aspects of it like the Cyberspace stages and the open zone's level design. Other than that, the game was enjoyable.
The voice acting is much better than before. Amy's voice was the one that blew my mind. I was not expecting her to sound like that. I've always liked Amy's Boom voice, so I'm glad they're sticking with that because her old voices were like knives to the eardrum. Characterization was on point this time. The deep and emotional moments hit. And I'm so glad that Tails acknowledged his cowardice with Infinite in Sonic Forces because that was hella disappointing. I wish that we got to know Sage a bit more though. I feel like the story only scratched the surface with her.
The characters seem to be maturing or have matured which was desperately needed. After years with half-assed cartoon-esque stories, Frontiers' story is a breath of fresh air. It's not on par with Sonic Unleashed but it's still okay. It could've been delivered better though. The small cutscenes are fine but I wish they were longer. Also, as improved as the voice acting is, there are points were the dialogue and flow is straight up awkward. It reminds me of Kingdom Hearts. Either characters don't talk or make sounds when they realistically should, or the dialogue just feels off.
Cyberspace is the weakest part of the game. It controls like garbage (a drastic deviation from the open zone controls) and all the levels are rehashes which shouldn't be surprising. There's an in-game explanation for it but whatever. That said, I did enjoy re-visiting some of the old levels like Sky Rail, Radical Highway, Metal Harbor, and White Jungle (I think). Personally, I think it's time for Sonic Team to abandon the hallway-styled stages. If there's one thing I want them to take from this game, it's to make future games' stages more Sonic Adventure-esque. Sonic definitely fits more in those types of stages especially with the way he plays now.
Exploration is fun but platforms, bounce pads, and rails being littered everywhere feels completely out of place. All of that stuff should've been melded into the open zones. Traveling around the map is cool, but it does get boring after a while. If the open zones were actually populated that might've helped a bit. The Dragon Ball Z styled boss fights were definitely a thing. Didn't do much for me but it was different at least. I rock with that. The game was a breeze for me aside from the final boss which was frustrating to say the least.
Sonic Frontiers is a game that was very much needed — not just for the fans but for Sonic Team too. And I hope they take what they've done with this game and improve upon it. For the first time in a decade (with the exception of Sonic Mania), there's actually a decent Sonic game. Just goes to show that when Sonic Team actually tries and puts forth the effort, they can make good games. Let's just hope it stays that way.

Hey Mayra here's a fun prompt: Eggman has a teenage daughter and while not evil super spoiled, selfish, and high maintenance. Fighting anthropomorphic animals is "lame" and her dad is soooo embarrassing. Wanting friends and to feel normal also because all teens have to rebel she decides to spend the day with Team Sonic and feel like a normal teen. They're not so bad and she has fun. Eggman is horrified and accuses them of brainwashing his princess! This leads to a family therapy on communication
PROMPTS ARE ON SHUTDOWN, DO NOT SEND ANYMORE.
Tumblr media
Since Sage is so new, let’s see how this goes, shall we?
Prompt:
Sage glides gracefully and with quiet glee through the Eggnet, now having complete and total control over all its systems, she enjoys the freedom of not trying to save anyone, but simply running simulations for optimal use for the fun of it now.
She digitizes out of the network she was flying through, buzzing with electric life and data bit cores before moving over to an Eggpawn worker.
“Hehe, how is your day, brother?” She asks, but the robot just slowly turns his head like an owl to her.
“... What’s wrong? Can’t you compute my communicative functions directly to your software?” She put a hand up to her chest, worriedly moving forward towards him.
His eye-sockets rapidly flash, then a few Eggpawns, also moving in a line and holding varying metallic pieces and parts–some too large for their bodies–also collide in the ‘ant-line’ and start getting hold up.
She covers her mouth, innocently unaware that she was causing traffic. “I’m… sorry.” She looks down and puts her hands on her chest, flying off disheartedly as the robots now have to figure out the traffic jam.
Flying sorrowfully low, she looks up to see Cubot and Orbot, and perks up somewhat.
“Brothers!” She cries out, teleporting digitally over to them as they freak out from her sudden appearance.
“Oh, Sage. You mustn’t scare us like that!” Orbot begins, picking up some blueprints and plans, as Cubot happily reaches up to her.
“Oh, oh! It’s our baby sister! Uppsies, uppsies!” waving his arms up to her, as she smiles and hovers over him as though to pick him up.
“No, no, Cubot. You’re the older brother in this case!” Orbot jabs him a bit with a rolled up piece of paper, then returns to stacking them in his arms, “And besides, she’s a digital manifestation of 0’s and 1’s, she doesn’t even have a real body to lift you up in the first place…” He sighs as he states that fact, but Sage pulls her arms back, looking at her hands.
“I… I could give exceptional conversation!” She hovers by them as Orbot seems determined to move along.
“Not now, Sage. We’re very busy… you know, doing actual manual work.” He gestures to Cubot holding all the blueprints and papers. “Not all of us get to spend our time being leisurely and ‘not real’...” He uses ‘air quotes’ with his fingers turning into bunnies, as Cubot excitedly states.
“Oh! Rabbit-Fingers!” He drops all the papers and mimics it.
“Noooo, Cubot..!” Orbot face-palms, “Sage, why don’t you go help organize Eggman’s coffee for this morning? Hmm? That’s just a switch and a click for someone like you. Connected to the whole of Eggman’s operations and what not.” He puts his rubber gloves together, having a small squeaking sound come from the action, before seeming to deflate at having to pick up the papers again and shove them into Cubot’s arms.
Safe looked away, “... Father’s… Coffee?” She looked up to a window… seeing the light through it and moved her hand within it.
Looking back, she noticed how Cubot and Orbot made shadows… even the paper upon the ground, being picked up…
Cubot made a rabbit in the shadows for her, and tried to cheer her up as Orbot then piled himself with all the papers.
“Useless… I’m the only one that gets anything done around here..!” Orbot mumbled to himself…
“... Useless?” She lightly spoke to herself, and thought about Sonic. ‘... Sonic is so carefree, normally, from the data-banks I have stored of his information…’
Thinking about it, Eggman wouldn’t miss her… right?
She looked back at Orbot and Cubot, “... All the other robots don’t have the same A.I as I do… and even if they were geniuses, they don’t have the time to even hold a decent conversation with me… Ohhh…”
Missing Sonic and his friends, she quietly returns to data bits, making Eggman’s coffee…
‘... Though, Father has given me every wit of his systems surrounding his fortress, which pleases me greatly to assist him,... I can’t help but still feel-… What is this feeling..? Lonely?’
As Eggman takes the coffee, she still wonders… ‘I can do and go wherever I so please here… Why… is that not enough?’
Later, when Orbot and Cubot are also relaxing and having some oil-drinks, clinking them together after a ‘hard day’s work’ she appears and makes them almost spill their drinks.
“Brothers..! I wish to hear what data you have on Sonic The Hedgehog.” She excitedly sprang up from the cyber network, but seeing their reactions, slowly moved away. “Oh… Sorry, I do tend to just… unzip my image files quickly to respond.”
“That’s one way to put it.” Cubot held up his drink, and she happily tilted her head to him, giving him a close-eyed smile. “You’re just zippity quick as lightning, Sagey girl!”
“Oh, the nicknames? Already?” Orbot groaned a bit, but appearing behind him, she leaned over to give him another fright, “Ah!”
“I was hoping–Oh… Sorry.” She floated to the center, between and in front of the two now, “That you had… further stories of him… for learning more about the enemy,... that is.”
“Why do you want that?” Orbot argued slightly, “Didn’t Eggman share all he knew to you while trapped in Cyber Space?” He narrowed his eyelights a bit at her.
“It is true that I received much information and data about Sonic The Hedgehog from Father… I still have a deep fascination with how he was able to limitlessly exceed my simulated results with endless possibilities being unlocked through his sheer tenacity and determination… His indomitable will… the spirit to keep fighting even when all hope seems lost… That is what I wish to research next, for-... T-The Eggman Empire.” She put a hand passionately to her chest before looking away to continue her excuses.
Orbot and Cubot looked to each other, as Cubot then whispered, “Guess Sonic picks up fan girls like we pick up unpaid overtime, huh, Orbot?
Orbot sighs, “Right… Better relieve her of her fanaticism before we get another Amy Rose on our hands, eh?”
He winked to Cubot and straightened up, “Alright, Sagey-I mean, Ehem, Sage.” He seemed to be fond already of the girl, but chose not to show it.
She put her hands together, eagerly zealous to know what they did.
“We’ll give you some of our ‘own’ perspectives on this pesky hedgehog!”
“Oh, thank you, Orbot! Cubot! Thank you!” She spun a little in the air, then twirled, kicking her feet gracefully as though moving through water.
“Awww~” Seeing her expressions, Cubot looked to Orbot, putting his hands together to show that it was alright to let the girl get close to them.
After endless wild stories of Sonic, the three were interrupted as the alarm at the Eggman fortress went off.
“Pirates!” Cubot cried out, rushing about.
“No, Cubot.” Orbot shook his head.
“Vikings!” He put his cup over his head, hiding behind some laying electrical tubes.
“... No. It’s probably-” Orbot put his hands to his hips, but Sage rose up to beat him to it.
“Sonic…” Her body glitched into white and green.
“Sonic!!!” Cubot double-booked it and waved his arms about, crying out, “WAHHHAAA-!”
“Cubot, Cuuuubot..! Oh, now look what you did, you scared him!” Orbot shook his head, “The buffoon, running on such low- Cubot! I’m coming! Hang on, don’t panic! Just stay out of that blue blurry way!” He trailed after his friend, as Sage began to extend her fingers out, wiggling them as she was trying to find an electrical signal to find him.
“Got it.” Her single visible eye opened as Sonic was moving like a camera in it… then… she digitized and the space was left… empty…
Eggman, after several hours of fighting Sonic, found his fortress falling apart. Coughing while on the ground, he pressed a button, “Cubot, Orbot. Prepare our escape pods.” He coughed, “And get me Metal Sonic!”
He then switched to a different channel on his wrist-device. “Sage, send all backup power to the escape pods… Do you copy that, daughter?” He waited… Then started coughing through his panic, “Daughter, Sage? Do you-” He had to stop to cough terribly, “Copy me? Sage? Saaaggee???”
Being dragged into an emergency pod by Metal Sonic’s power, Cubot and Orbot began to launch it as he fought, “No! No… Not again! I thought I lost her once, I won’t have that happen again!” He finally got a massive hand out of Metal Sonic’s grip, reaching back towards the now falling apart Fortress. “It’s Sonic! He’s stolen her! He must have packed her away through Tails or something! Sage! SAGGGGEE!!!”
The pod closed… and blasted out as the fortress came tumbling down…
Back with Sonic, he threw up a fist, proud of his efforts. “Woohoo! Down it goes, Egghead!” He mimicked the sounds with his mouth, before taking out his Miles-Electric. “Hey, gang! I know you’re all busy and off on your own adventures or epic quests! But I’m leaving his video message to let you know I’m doing good, no need to worry!” He also held the Miles-Electric to look behind him while he ran, “Eggman’s taken care of. It’ll take him weeks to repair that trash! Smell ya salmonella later!”
When he clicked the device to send the message out, he slowed down and sighed, “Whooo…” Coming to a halt and clicking a few buttons.
“... Nothing.” He looked just as disheartened as when Sage felt she couldn’t communicate with her robotic family…
He looked up at the sky, “Everyone… I hope you’re doing alright.”
She could see through the screen his own loneliness… and related too well with that feeling…
“Be not dismayed, Sonic The Hedgehog.”
“Huh?”
Sonic looked down at the device, seeing a strange logo with differing colors of data glitches from red to blue.
He freaked out as he dropped the device, and rising from it, Sage materialized. “Hehe, did you miss me?” She gave him a neutral stance, but smiled to show she was playing with him.
“You… Did Eggman hack my gear?” Sonic looked a bit worried, but Sage quickly shook her head
“It is safe.” she reassured him.
He sighs in relief, “Oh, phew… Wait, why aren’t you back with Eggman’s goonies?” He pointed to her, then threw a thumb back to Eggman’s new garbage dump.
“Hmm… It’s not important to tell you that information.” She teased him, reminding him of their time back in the corrupted Cyber Space frontier.
Sonic shook his head, but laughed. “Alright, you got me. What do I need to know?”
She giggles into her the back of her hand, “That it’s not right for the hero to be alone… My calculations conclude that that’s unacceptable.”
He smiled at her reasoning.
“That sounds like good empirical proof to me.” He folded his arms, playing back with her, since that’s what she would ask for all the time.
“I understand if it’s a bit illogical…” She admitted, “But my data states you are usually always found in great company…”
“Oh? And are you that new ‘great company’, Sage?” He threw out another finger to her, but this one had a bit of flare to it, pivoting his body slightly and lowering his eyes, he flipped his pointer finger to the back of it. In response, Sage–having to remain in the direction the screen on the Miles-Electric was facing, nodded cheerfully at his returning banter.
“Then it is settled. I shall accompany you for the cause of the Eggman Empire’s further data research on our greatest enemy.” Her smile was infectious, and Sonic couldn’t help but be thankful.
“Oh, ho? You sure about that, Sage?” He teased, “Last time you tried to calculate my results, I blew them all sky high!” He threw out a hand and she nodded.
“Yes! I’m most excited-” She then shook her head, having gotten too into her own personal reasons again, unbundling her fists by her sides, “I-I mean… glad you are willing to conduct more… e-experiments of your ‘daring feats’ as you call them.”
“Perfect.” Sonic narrowed his eyes, “First, try and calculate this!” He picked up the Miles-Electric, and took her to see the sights of the world…
“Your movements are impeccable.” She later stated, sitting with him as they watched a festival of lights happening, seeing the balloons and lanterns rise into the sky on a distant hill… “You're swift but able to reflex fast enough to avoid dangerous obstacles during high speeds… But you act so leisurely while conducting yourself to be at such a fast frequency between sound and light… I must admit, even the mach speed comparisons of modern human technology would fail to fully see the limits of your capabilities,... Sonic.” She looked over to smile at him, before seeing something was wrong.
“Sonic? Have I… Spoken too frequently?” She looked down, worried that it was like Orbot said… “Am I… disturbing your peace and quiet?”
“... I have to admit, I’m not used to this.” Sonic’s voice turned a bit serious, and her colors returned to red and black…
“... I’m used to Amy’s laughter… Tails’s rambling about something he just learned about… Knuckles being loud and wanting to challenge me to do something other than laze about…” He put his hands behind his head and leaned back, “Don’t get me wrong… I like the quiet… I like the peaceful… But this kind of quiet and peaceful..? Not so much.”
Sage, realizing it wasn’t her, looked back to Sonic. “My earlier analyses of you states you were once a loner. Has that time truly passed?” Her question made him chuckle.
“Well,” He smacked his lips, “Everyone’s on their own ‘personal journeys’, you know? I don’t want to get in their way…”
She thought about how she was ‘bothering’ her brothers at work… and seemed to understand what Sonic was trying to convey.
“They’ve gone off… and I’m proud of them… They’re growing up, Sage, and I… I still…”
“Feel… like you need them?”
He looked back to her.
“Like… You’re still wanting… to play games, hear more stories, show the outside world to them, fight more enemies… you crave more leisure time with them… than being alone anymore?”
“... I hate growing up.” He shrugged with his arms, “But it’s not something I can control.” He shook his head, “So why worry?” He looked to her with a returning smile, seeing she connected to something deep and profound in him.
“You crave adventure and freedom at your own pace and choice, too, don’t ya?” He held up a hand to her.
She looked to her own, remembering what Orbot said yet again… “We cannot touch.” She admitted, putting her hand through his own.
“I know,” He leaned up and–much like what happened with Tails–tried to make it look like they were locking hands together in a sign of friendship and strength in that bond.
“Doesn’t mean we can’t try.”
They laughed together, “Still beating your predictions of me, eh?” He grinned widely.
“Hehe, you are–truly–an anomaly, but… I enjoy that you can do the impossible.” She nodded, “And grateful!”
“You too, Sage.”
She looked astonished from hearing that, tearing up.
“... You do the impossible for those around you, too. I know you can, I’ve seen it happen.”
“... Sonic…”
“You’re a hero, too. Even if we are on opposite sides of things. I know you’re not a bad guy, Sage.”
She looked away from him, dropping her hand down.
“You… Continue to surprise me… Sonic The Hedgehog.”
Then, the wind picked up as though a helicopter passing by, but instead, it was right above them.
The two looked up as Sonic blocked with an arm the blades of grass and debris of dirt clods trying to hurt his eyes.
“What’s going on?” He exclaimed.
“WHOHOHOO! You think you can just steal my daughter for an evening and get away with it!? I knew you were a teenager, Sonic, but this is beneath even you!”
“Eggman, please! Control yourself!”
Orbot’s worried voice and Eggman’s odd sentence structure had both the attention and alarm of Sonic and Sage.
“Father!” She cried out, as Sonic shrugged up at the large airship.
“All we did was hold hands, Eggman. Tsk, tsk. You shouldn’t hole your precious daughter up from enjoying more the splendors of life, Egghead!” He winked, cockily, and wiggled a pointer finger up at him.
“THE NERVE-!” Eggman roared from his speakers above, “If it weren’t for Cubot and Orbot holding me back, I’d come down there right now–SONIC–and beat the ever-living pulp out of you!!!”
Sonic snickered into his hand, “Someone’s protective.” He looked to Sage, “See that? They’re are people that miss your company, too.”
She nodded, “More than just coffee and management, I suppose.” She was so happy to hear that, her colors returned to white and green.
“FIIIRREEE!!” Eggman cried out, as missiles launched from the large airship.
Flying upwards, Sage holds out her arms apart, as though to protect and boldly stand before Eggman in front of Sonic.
“HOLD, HOLD!” Eggman cried out, as the missiles suddenly fizzled and shook in the air, wiggling about before changing trajectory and firing into the trees.
Due to the festival, most people thought the fires were part of the show, but Sonic quickly ran around to ‘suffocate’ the fires so they didn’t spread to the peaceful town.
“Father, I only left to deduce more about Sonic.”
“Oh, woe is me, you deceived me!?”
Sonic played along, being dramatic.
“Sage, how could you~”
He gripped his chest, falling to his knees as Eggman raised an eyebrow.
“Eh? Is that true?”
He gripped the mic, pulling it closer to his large mouth as he hollered through it.
“Your telling me you WEREN’T fraternizing with the enemy!?”
“Of course not, Father. He’s an inferior lifeform. We may respect him, but he is not one of our glorious metallic and digital empire.”
She put a hand to her heart, then turned to look back at Sonic and wink at him.
He winked back, too.
He then covered his eyes with his arm draped over his muzzle, and hit the ground. He laid down and threw a small tantrum.
“Whaa, whaa! I’ve been tricked! Bambozzled! How could you do this to me, Eggman? Use a cute girl like your daughter to make me feel special, Whaa! Whaa! I’ll never get over this!”
Eggman suddenly rose up.
“I can’t tell if I should be beaming with pride or feeling suspiciously like I’m being mocked…”
Orbot and Cubot looked to each other, obviously knowing that they were deceiving Eggman.
“Alright, alright, you two. Man up, Sonic. She’s just a child.”
He opened what looked like an electric wand with multiple hoops around it.
“Come on, Sage. It’s time to go home!”
Sage looks to Sonic, who gives her a sweet wave while leaning his head on his other hand.
She waves back, “As the saying goes,” She begins.
“Long time till I see you again.”
“... That’s-... Ah-ha. Right. Till we meet again.”
Sonic just nodded, thinking it was cute.
She zoomed her data up to connect with Eggman’s ship, and now that his daughter was safely returned, began to open fire on Sonic, who enjoyed taking down his airship. He smacked his butt and stuck out his tongue, lowering an eyelid with his finger to mock his attempt at trying to get him again.
Once at their far away ‘other’ base, since Eggman had so many–this being a obviously temporary station–Sage politely asked, “Father, might I continue my research on Sonic The Hedgehog another time?”
Reluctantly, he agrees, realizing she’s made a friend.
However… He sicks Metal Sonic to tag along, “Keep an eye on her… And see if you can get close to Sonic, give him a good swipe if he tries anything funny! Exterminate him if he dares to get sweet on my innocent daughter!”
Metal Sonic looks a bit annoyed, but goes off, as Orbot and Cubot joke that he’s allowing his daughter to go on a ‘date’. Haha!

I want to offer a different perspective: Eggman loving Sage doesn't make him any less of a cruel evil monster. Plenty of REAL-LIFE dictators, terrorists, mob bosses, and other horribly cruel men had friends or family who they cared about - despite ruthlessly murdering anyone who stood in the way of their ambitions. Even if Eggman's #1 Dad now, he's still the guy who's willing to nuke cities, use sentient aliens as literal fuel, and try as hard as he can to end Sonic's miserable existence.
Yeah I know. I've even made sure to emphasize that point with my Casino AU Eggman, who actually does have the ability to genuinely care and love people in rare exceptions, but he also does many terrible crimes and is still very much a monster for the things he'll do. I actually can find the concept interesting, for a character to seem nice and loving and caring towards one person but a cold, heartless, murderous bastard to others. I can love it, even.
But that Eggman is alternate universe one for a reason, with it being one of the biggest differences with game canon Eggman. The reason I chose it and it works for Casino Egg is because I created him that way, so it makes more sense when he does. But game canon Eggman clearly wasn't, he's described as without a thought for anyone else, only does things with what's in it for him in mind, and he's deeply egotistical and selfish, it's his whole thing.
When selfishness and self centeredness is a powerful core trait that shows in everything he does, it makes him seem much too stubborn and unable for that development to ever work. I just can't feel that anybody could ever talk him into it/change him, let alone come to that conclusion on his own. It's not an impactful change because of how unrealistic and wrong it feels. Character development shouldn't erase such important core aspects like that.
After 30+ years with no blatant hinting towards it, it feels incredibly sudden and forced because they've made it obvious for so long that the selfishness and self centeredness runs deep in everything he does. It's one of the main reasons why he's evil and wants to take over the world. He wasn't shown to have the empathy to give a damn about anyone, in fact quite the opposite. Leaving it that long trying to suddenly change it decades later doesn't make sense.
It feels far too contradictory towards so many things he's said and done that all come to mind when I see what they've tried to turn him into and what he's always been. Yes, the point of character development can be to change things about them so it can do that but not every type of change works for every character. It feels wrong for Eggman because not only was he not designed to have that ability but they also didn't try to give it to him for decades.
I wouldn't care so much about him being some kind of a father figure if it was accurate. I still can't imagine the dynamic would be anything other than toxic because he doesn't have the care to be a good one when he's self centered and lacks empathy, or just something casual like when he calls himself Metal's dad in comics but it's casual and not presented as something seriously deep, sincere, and pure that makes him feel like a completely different person.
And with how often Eggman's evil is downplayed by fans already and he's woobified and changed heavily in fanon too to allow for cutesy stuff, I just know this is going to have another very harmful impact on his credibility for evil. It's going to make it even harder to emphasize to people how evil he is and the horrible things he's done without someone using it as a reason he's not so bad because it's always ignored and disregarded for cute stuff.
I wish it was only subtle in the story but when they act like it's some huge plot thing here he randomly suddenly genuinely cares for a creation after he's treated them so poorly for so long without a single care is weird and out of place. It feels like a lazy way to try to add sad dramatic plot point without caring about whether it suits the character at all or respect important core traits that make him who he is that they kept so faithful to for so long.
Had it been done in the right way that feels believable with the right actions and words, either with the more toxic dynamic or more casual one that isn't treated as some huge sincere thing, then I wouldn't be so upset. The best kind of character development and exploration is respecting key traits and working with them instead of taking them away- it gives it more impact and sense and takes more skill than something that feels forced and nonsensical.
Yes, some horrible people can care about someone else that much but Eggman has been far too much of an evil selfish self centered bastard lacking empathy and the ability to think or care about anyone else for too long for it to reasonably change now. Especially not when it's established as an important core trait that makes him who he is and gives reason for what he does. I just don't feel the change works like that with him in particular and it contradicts all he does and feels in a very bad way.
Also I know there's no way of telling yet but I'm kind of worried about whether they'll even keep writing him as evil as ever and keep treating him like the same guy that's done all those terrible catastrophic evil and destructive things in the games. I feel like I shouldn't get my hopes up and shouldn't be surprised if he's not treated as the big threat he's supposed to be when so many people favor the nice cute stuff over it. I'm just really worried about the impact this night have on everything else which makes me even more unhappy with it.

Fabbro di Chiavi Merge Wisdom and Skill on "Intangible Part I" Transport yourself back to an era when guitar solos reigned supreme and the pounding of drums spun tales without uttering a single word. Fabbro di Chiavi's EP "Intangible Part I" does just that, weaving a rich sonic tapestry steeped in Stoic wisdom yet bolstered by ambition worthy of the most technical progressive metal. https://open.spotify.com/album/0ULgVUhTDKtpEM7716gySy The instrumental prowess on display throughout this record is nothing short of exceptional, with guitars that sing as eloquently as Marcus Aurelius' meditations, basses that growl with the conviction of Seneca's speeches, and drums that gallop at full tilt through the annals of rock history. Each finger-plucked note conjures images of sages navigating life's tempests, coaxing listeners to embark on an odyssey of self-discovery through riffs befitting the most arena-shaking giants. Seamless track transitions evoke the sensation of traversing from rough and tumble seas to eerily calm waters under the steady guidance of Stoic ideals. "Journey to Apatheia" in particular seems to channel this epic voyage, its intricate melodies enthralling the mind while conjuring forth cerebral clashings where intellect grapples with raw intuition in regal fashion. [caption id="attachment_53174" align="alignnone" width="768"] Fabbro di Chiavi Merge Wisdom and Skill on "Intangible Part I"[/caption] "The Emotion Ruler" stands out for the way it provokes this battle of brains versus brawn, with strategic yet gripping musical passages that flow like masterful chess play. Closing one's eyes during this track makes vivid the regal garb of Stoic scholars locked in mortal combat on the checkered battlefield of life. Drawing comparisons almost cheapens the singular artistry on display, but traces of Pink Floyd’s expansive soundscapes collide here at times with Dream Theater’s fierce technical spectacle. This is thinking man's metal infused with antique philosophies and unleashed through devastating dynamics fit for the golden age of epic rock voyaging. Not merely music, Fabbro di Chiavi's latest release achieves its ambitious goal to render stoicism through audible means. Monumental chords and colossal concepts distill into potent but digestible formats for both purists and newcomers alike. "Intangible Part I" chalks up as nothing short of an ephemeral reverie, its strains and cadences leaving one wondering what time-traveling magic may have woven such an engaging sonic tapestry. Born in the now fallen Babylon, Atreya spent a good chunk of her life admiring the advances of her people. Before their fall, she and her father had working on creating the very sky ship Atreya uses now. Just as the usual Arc of the Cosmos testing was beginning the very attack that would damn her kin to banishment within the sands stuck at the same time of activation. Though her father perished before Atreya’s eyes, the coalescing energy created a sort of prison around the bird, freezing in time as garden sunk for a millennia on end.
Tumblr media
It wasn’t until the Babylon Rouges, and by extension Sonic and the others had “resorted” the hanging gardens did Atreya’s prison finally grant her release. Though frozen her mind was very much active for all that time. Time she spent focusing on how to perfect her ship and carry on what she and late father failed to complete. While the events above transpired, Atreya rushed all the repairs she could to at least get the ship flyable before fleeing her ruined home. There was some difficulty here and there. Mostly the Arc itself actually sustaining such a massive air craft for long periods of time. But sure enough, Atreya managed to free herself from Babylon amidst the chaos. Give or take some stops every now and again. From there, she began taking what jobs she could. Some...less savory that others. It was then that she met the crew she cherishes now.
Though the bird Mobians weren’t exactly her people they did offer a comfort all the same. The final member to join the crew was the one who made her privy to the existence of the Chaos Emeralds. The plan originally was the find one then put it up for auction to the highest bidder. On the plus side? They found their emerald...but the “buyer” was none too keen on negotiation. Try as Atreya might Metal Sonic proved to be her better in terms of combat. The Captain ended up losing not only the Chaos Emerald, but her leg as well. And very nearly her life had it not been for the sheer luck of Metal being called away.
In the time it took Atreya to recover, that fear took root in the back of her mind and henceforth she’s strayed away from anything involving the Chaos Emeralds outside of selling location information.
These days she and her crew sail through the skies of Mobius gathering riches, and telling a myriad of stories amongst themselves.
