like, genuinely. taking accountability for your actions in perpetuation of abuse and rape culture is the first step to changing that culture. it doesn’t make you a bad person just because you did a bad thing (unless you were intentionally trying to cause harm) but you have to admit you are not immune to accidentally supporting the bad thing and take accountability for that. if you supported george's statements on sexual harassment, or dream's sexual jokes towards minors, or sapnap getting paid money to stream on a platform which openly harbours rapists and sex abusers, you've been a part of keeping the environment that makes it hard for victims to have come out. if you started believing in anti-victim sentiments and harassed other abuse victims for talking about how it made them uncomfortable, you’ve supported this environment. if you assumed anyone uncomfortable with your streamer or trying to talk out against them was inherently lying solely because it was your streamer, you helped support an enviroment that fostered abusers.
and that sounds harsh, and I’m sorry. but it’s true. and to a degree, I think everyone in this community has done that with people at one point in their lives. it's very easy to be manipulated, but it’s also very easy to be wilfully blind, and that’s not something irredeemable or a permanent stain. you can change, but you need to identify in yourself what caused you to act like that and make a conscious change. it’s healthier for you and it’s healthier for the environment. if we want to avoid this in the future, we need to be proactive in calling out actual potentially harmful behaviour, even if it’s from someone you like. or we will continue to harbour mass amount of abusers.
most content creators are not abusers. most, to be honest, are awkward introverted nerds with social anxiety. at least, that’s what i've got from the ones my brother knows (and that includes some big ccs). but while they’re a huge part of it bc being in front of a camera instead of people is a huge draw, there’s another draw that attracts a less savoury crowd- and that’s the position of power. and unless you’re willing to listen and be kind to genuine, serious criticism of harmful actions, and ccs are willing to do the same, abuse and sexual assault WILL continue to be normalised in these spaces. it is not your sole responsibility, but it IS a responsibility to make sure to avoid that now you know the possibilities aggressively attacking any criticism can hide. caiti had to deal with people with her abusers face threaten her for speaking negatively towards him. do not let that happen again.

I think one of the biggest trap you can fall into while lore discoursing is to trying to make your fav morally pure. being c!dream apologist for so long and saying that 'well yes i know he is an asshole' over and over made me own his crimes. yes he is an asshole. he is my asshole. i don't need him to be a good person or be always right for me to still call him my favourite character or finding him interesting or tragic. and boy oh boy do I wish we all were like that
c!dream is an asshole. he manipulates and torments and kills people, he is willing to sacrifice everything, others and himself for his goal of 'happiness'. he is also alone, traumatized after months of torture. it's not an excuse for his actions tho, but we know he does things for a reasons
c!george is an asshole. he threw a fit over the throne he didn't even wanted. he thinks that everything is a joke and that everything always should be easy and fun. he also couldn't bear what was going on around him, he prefers to sleep than to face a world where his friends are not friends anymore. we know he doesn't care about the throne and he still took the dethronement so personal. because he has his reasons
c!sapnap is an asshole. no matter the intention he lied about what c!tommy told him. moreover he believed c!tommy over c!dream. he wants c!dream dead, he believed c!dream had to stay in inhuman prison, still claiming to be his friend. but that doesn't change the fact that c!sapnap is one of the most tragic characters on the server. he lost everything - his home, his best friends, his fiances, his dad. he lied, no matter the intention, there is no excuse for that but there are reasons, valid reasons for him doing that because he is allowed to be hurt and he is allowed to be angry and he is allowed to wanting to protect c!george, even if in c!dream's eyes that's an asshole move (and if c!george knew, he might think the same)
none of them is morally pure, all of them did things that should be questioned but all those actions exist in the context of reasons behind actions. they are just humans and humans are flawed

"Was it wrong for Tubbo to live react to Sapnap's Twitlonger Apology on his alt that rarely gets more than 7k viewers at any given time?" Literally no it wasn't sorry 😭
It isn't like Tubbo tweeted with a flashy "SAPNAP DRAMA!?" title and advertised what he was doing to get views. Tubbo regularly streams for like 5-7 hours on his alt doing whatever he feels like. He didn't PLAN to go and engineer a "drama" stream he just wanted to share his thoughts on Sapnap's response. And it's legitimate criticism too lol

i like how people are calling tommy coward for not attending the event shadoune hosted cuz he was teamed with sapnap, george, hannah and sylvee, and that it'll be real awkward after he dropped his latest video.
well looking at the mess that is sapnap's kick drama...im honestly glad tommy back out cuz aint no way im watching one of my streamers be associated with the man willing to sell his morals for money and the people who enabled him without even criticizing the bastard 😒
anyways fuck kick, fuck sapnap, fuck sylvee, and fuck everyone who called the shifting to kick movement not bad or that its good 😘✌️

I wanna say something briefly.
Yesterday really show two sides of this fanbase. One who's trying to educate and give critique criticism on sapnap choice and one side being antis, dropping him, calling him disgusting names, thinking he's the worst human being ever.
Yes he made a poor decision but he's young. He's going to make mistakes because he's learning. Yes, he's 22 and so, he's learning the world and the corporations.
He has a good heart and has shown that, he just wants a change for a platform to be positive and that's nothing wrong but when you have a site that hasn't shown change since being created, you will have some doubts.
I know he sees all the criticism and taking it in. I trust him and I feel like he may make another post regarding this seeing that many of us are concern about moving over to kick. He's allowed to feel valued on a platform.
None of these streaming platform are all rainbow and sunshine. Each one have their own major issues from not promoting poc and black ppl and women on the front page. To targeting black ppl and taking down their content and even Chanel without much of a reason to why, under payment the list goes on.
The main concern is finding a platform where not only he can be valued but be somewhere that his fanbase can also feel safe too. I don't think he's this horrible person that ppl is making him out to be over this decision.
I just feel like it wasnt the right move, which i said is a learning lesson. The ceos can sit here and promise him for positivity and change but i feel like they are just saying this to use him and his platform which sucks.
Maybe this can be a postive change, but idk. I'm going to wait it out and see what else he may say. I'm still going to watch his YouTube and twitch content but I don't feel safe on kick which is okay.

not sapnap talking about all the issues and concerns and the changes he wants to bring but not naming a SINGLE one lmaooo completely vague post from someone saying they’re being transparent
You see the thing is, h e doesn't care about any of the things that makes kick a horrible and bigoted platform he is just trying to make his fans shut up and stop their complaining. Also like he never really liked his audience so he probably sees this as an opportunity to get more toxic gamer fans lmao

i have many thoughts on the finale but for the most part i just wish that when c!tommy was sympathizing with c!dream it was more in a "you were happy once. and we all could have been happy if you hadn't cut off all your attachments. if you hadn't sought out power over life and death. we could have been friends, but you were so adamant to have control over the server that you wouldn't allow it. you pushed everyone away. you did horrible things. and maybe i hurt you, but you did this to yourself. i'm sorry you turned out this way" instead of whatever that was. does anyone hear me-

How does c!Sam feel about c!Sapnap, do enlighten us. 👀
/dsmp /rp
:)
Buckle The Fuck In.
Sam and Sapnap have a pretty decent, friendly relationship prior to the prison. Then Sapnap is there when Dream is arrested, he’s one of the key players who helps bring him in, with Sam. This raises Sam’s estimation of him further. He really respects Sapnap for that, especially given Sapnap and Dream’s previous friendship, you know? He sees himself in Sapnap a bit, though of course he was never as close to Dream as Sapnap was.
Then Sam becomes Warden, and as we all know, Sam becoming Warden makes basically all his relationships get weirder and weirder and weirder.
Sam still sees himself in Sapnap, in their mutual disillusionment with Dream. But things get stranger than that with Sapnap’s visit.
Sapnap’s visit to Dream is very spur of the moment—he’s not sure he’s ready, but Sam encourages him. It’s only when Sapnap’s about to enter that he tells Sapnap, flatly, “good luck getting him to talk.” He seems to believe that Dream won’t talk and that Sapnap won’t be able to change his mind. And then, of course, that’s not what happens.
Sam is surprised by Sapnap’s success, and more than that, he’s threatened. Sam says it seemed like Dream didn’t want to talk to anyone or see anyone, and Sapnap is describing how Dream was “warming up” to him, when Sam abruptly interrupts him, saying he “just thought of something.” He asks Sapnap, “Did he tell you anything else?”, and then proceeds to force Sapnap to respawn outside the prison. “It’s strange that he talked to you,” is the only explanation Sam gives. Even though Sapnap’s Dream’s best friend!
It feels almost like the whole thing was… a test of sorts. I doubt it was a conscious or intentional one—Sam has the tendency to do things like this almost on accident, just because it feels like the right thing to do in the moment—but I think Sam really wanted to prove to himself that even Dream’s best friend couldn’t get him to talk.
I think he wanted a number of weird subconscious reassurances from Dream’s silence: 1) to demonstrate that Sapnap doesn’t have a stronger power over Dream than Sam does, 2) to reinforce the idea Dream had changed enough from the person Sam used to know, become ~evil~ enough, that his stubbornness/“bad behavior” in refusing to speak would extend even to Sapnap, 3) to demonstrate that Dream’s silence wasn’t because of anything Sam was doing wrong—that it was neither maltreatment nor insufficient pressure from Sam, it was simply something inherent to Dream’s mood, 4) to show Sapnap, Dream’s best friend, just how far Dream has fallen, 5) to show Sapnap, Dream’s best friend, that visiting him is pointless and he probably shouldn’t bother and he probably should just leave Dream to rot.
Lots of this boils down to Sam feeling threatened by the idea of Sapnap being closer to Dream than he is. Not because Sam wants to be close to Dream, quite the contrary, but because he instantly views that kind of relationship as psychological power. Sam’s always talking about how he can get Dream to tell him things, that Dream will talk with him when he won’t talk with anyone else—and Sam LIKES this, because it’s evidence of control! And significantly, it’s not just direct power over Dream: it’s evidence that Sam’s eliminating or supplanting Dream’s other relationships and other allies. And obviously he needs to supplant them, because people sympathizing with Dream are an active threat to the prison.
AND!!! There’s something else on top of all that, which is: the death threat! I don’t recall there being any direct canon evidence of Sam knowing about Sapnap’s promise to Dream, but a) Sapnap hasn’t been too secretive about it, b) Dream hasn’t been too secretive about it (he told Techno immediately) c) given his paranoia, Sam certainly questioned Dream after every visit, and the death threat seems like a safe and smart thing for Dream to divulge—it distances him and Sapnap further, and it firmly establishes that there wasn’t any plotting going on between them, both of which are good things for Dream.
So I’d be surprised if Sam doesn’t know about the promise. And I think Sam is jealous of this vow, because—like I’ve been establishing—he wants to be in Sapnap’s shoes! Sam is also a friend who Dream betrayed, Sam wants to be the one to kill Dream for what he did, Sam wants to be the one Dream talks to, Sam wants to be the one expressing his righteous anger and swearing to the heavens that Dream will pay!
Sam wants to kill Dream (like Sapnap). Sam wants to be Dream’s confidant (like Sapnap). And of course, in a complete contradiction, Sam wants nothing whatsoever to do with Dream and wants him alive and wants to never look at him again. We stan a confused mess of a man.
