so fun how so many modern day stories have their version of a beings that embody divine will but the way we interpret it is nearly always a little similar. my webcomicverse had them too in the form of the cardinal dragons who believed they existed to guide the world along a divine/absolute will, so everything they did was considered “right” in the way that it was an inevitability. a little bit like innocences. though this kind of is because they were just big magic spirit manifestations privy to their greater course and were also actually made and placed into the world with a particular purpose but they’ve long forgotten that. but that’s what drove them to kill themselves and each other for eons as a form of checks and balances. until humans imprisoned spirits into the blood to be able to use magic without a mutual pact and to consolidate power in bloodlines and they couldn’t recycle their dragon dander properly when they killed themselves to reset and became increasingly human due to the natural way spirits mirror human will/conviction/inspiration and then one fell in love with a human and vowed to stay alive to keep her promise to her to free the spirits even if it would cause a violent apocalypse. And her name was Easterlies and that’s why her arms are sloughing off all the time and is slightly just off in the head because she has been alive way longer than she should’ve been and why her brother tried to kill her but only could trap her in a cave with a big stick impaled through her chest for a couple hundred years
