Why does Celeste get so much hate?
Tumblr media
My latest Celeste tiktok edit got me thinking about the different treatments of Elijah's love interests and Klaus' love interests. Specifically, Aurora and Celeste.
Because when you think about it, they are basically the same character. And yet, Aurora is treated with a lot more sympathy than Celeste.
Celeste was first introduced as a past love of Elijah. Elijah states that she was one of two great loves that he has ever had. We see that he was so consumed by this love that he, for the first time in 800 years, waivered from his family. This made Klaus angry and he had her brutally murdered.
Similarly, Aurora was Klaus' first love (yes, I know there is a debate on first or second love. I think she was his first). Klaus was so in love with her, that he wanted to bring her on the run with him and his family. However, when Aurora reveals that Klaus was responsible for his mother's death to Elijah, Elijah accidentally compels her to breakup with Klaus. He then proceeds to compel her to pretend to be Rebekah for 100 years.
To me, there are very similar stories. Except, at least Aurora isn't murdered. Because of this, they both turn to revenge against the Mikaelson family for the harm the Mikaelsons have committed against them. They even have similar runtimes on the show -- Celeste is on TO for 13 episodes and Aurora is on for 17 episodes.
Yet I've seen a lot more people support Aurora's hatred of Elijah and get angry at Celeste's revenge against Klaus. The most logical, and probably accurate, reason is that Klaus is the fan favorite and the show centers every storyline around him, reducing Elijah to a background character. Which reduces his love interests down to background characters. This is a big reason why people will "never forgive Elijah" but don't care that Klaus killed Celeste.
But the arguments against Celeste are often that "she was doing too much." While the same people will support Aurora because she is the female Klaus. Celeste essentially toyed with the Mikaelsons for the better part of half a year, but Aurora buried Rebekah at sea, murdered Camille, and tried to murder Elijah and Freya. If Aurora wasn't doing too much, I don't think it's fair to be angry at Celeste for trying to get her revenge.
I also see so many people saying 'if Elijah hadn't compelled Aurora, they would still be together,' but where is that logic with Celeste? I don't even think Celeste and Elijah get their own ship name when she was just as important to Elijah as Aurora was to Klaus.
Aurora typically makes lists of people's top favorite characters. She was so popular that they brought her back in Legacies. Celeste hardly got a mention once her character was killed, even though she was an ancestor on the Other Side and still could have played a role in the witches.
The TVDU has a habit of sidelining POC characters and it seems Celeste is just another woman of color who does not get enough credit. After all, her plotting is what set all of The Originals into motion.
(Celeste doesn't even come up when I search the tags)

Okay, so this might be dumb asf, but to me the Hayley/Klaus baby makes no sense. To me the whole witch/werewolf thing is like your race or ethnicity it all comes down to percentage. If Hayley is 100% a werewolf and Klaus is 50% then Hope would come out 75% wolf and the other 25% would be broken up between being a human and a witch. I know it’s a big jump and it’s just a show but it has always bugged me lol like how is she a tribrid??? It just all seems like a poorly written Wattpad story lol, but if Bonnie was Hopes mother then that would have made more sense!!! I really look into things🤣
The lore of TVDU is truly lacking. There's no real in-depth explanation on witch families. If Klaus doesn't have the magic gene, how would he be able to pass that on to Hope? The whole "first born" thing doesn't make any sense. In no other instance in TVD does birth order establish power. For werewolf families, anyone born into one inherits the gene. This is not true for witches. It would make more sense for Kol or Freya's child to carry magic. Even then, it isn't guaranteed they'll have any power. Why do some witch bloodlines just stop having magic? We aren't given any explanation. They lazily throw in a storyline about Katherine being a Traveller witch but her bloodline has no power (Elena is magicless and Katherine having magic makes no sense). Instead of creating real rules for witchcraft and witch bloodlines, they put things together with no thought. It's aggravating how inconsistent it is and that they forced Petrovas into witchcraft, because they didn't want to focus on the history of the only active witch family in town. Bonnie lost her magic and suddenly white witches were everywhere.

Please if you haven’t check out my meta on Bonnie, the Bennett’s, Black witches and the Magical Negro Trope and Mammy trope! This is a warning for anyone who likes Hayley or Hope that will be offended by this. Do not continue to read here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again, I’m discouraged though I have no problem with discussing Klayley /Hayley or canon Hope. Due to the responses fans will give when it comes to speaking on Bonnie and her Bloodline. Bonnie is the only character to get repetitive moral policing from the writers to the fans. Yet do not hold the women (who happen to be white) in the same regard. Freya, Dahlia and the retconning about Esther exists to uplift Hope’s witch heritage. Then the series went a step further to give Hayley a witch ancestor who to me conceptual wise seems like Silas + Qetsiyah & Cade all in one. It doesn’t seem like that gene should’ve been that strong anyway.
TVD doesn’t value Bonnie the way the others are treated. Hayley had sex immediately upon her introduction. Hayley goes through relationships. Her friends care about her. If Hayley wants to snap off and fight she gets that right. Bonnie isn’t allowed to do half of those things. We’re told Hayley(and her bloodline) are someone/people to be cared about. Hayley is a werewolf Queen! The series does not do the same for Bonnie. She isn’t praised for being a Bennett witch, she doesn’t have equal desirability and isn’t prioritized. It isn’t until season 8 we get Bonnie saying she wants the life Caroline lived (home, kids, family and a partner..)
Hayley’s plots were centered around her motherhood and being a werewolf. None of that translated to Hope. Klaus wasn’t given any werewolf plots. So why center Hope’s life on being a witch? Hayley admits she didn’t understand Hope’s power. Hope’s tribrid era to explore her vampire side was short lived. Bonnie and Hayley have both faced abandonment and family struggles but Bonnie’s isn’t talked about enough like Hayley’s. If Hope did have a Bonnie as a mother there plenty to witch-connections to make from there through Bonnie’s history. It’s a big fuck you to Bonnie to me to include child witches and never allow those connections to blossom.
Fans would’ve hated it if Klonnie were a couple or a fling in canon. Many pretend that Bonnie’s blackness isn’t the issue when it comes to Bonnie possibilities when it often is. It is okay if Bonnie is friends with or helps terrible people in canon. Lines are suddenly drawn when you mention things in a romantic sense or more. The rules NEVER apply to their faves. Bonnie is the pentacle of humanity and no should be paired with her yet their faves can do whatever and still be a “good girl” while dating a man who is capable of mass murders.

Spoiled Rotten! Ch. 2 (Zombie Yandere
Masterlist
MDNI 🔞
Half! Zombie/Zombie Hybrid Yandere Simon "Ghost" Riley x Original Female Character (Freya)
The emergency alarm system that was dotted around the safezone was what woke her up, the sound of chaos and pandemonium going on around her outside.
Freya panicked, adrenaline borderline slapping her in the face and waking her up in seconds, the covers were thrown off her and she raced to pull on her much more protective jeans. After getting dressed, she rushed to Jake's room to wake him up up, not sure how the man hadn't already woken up, when she saw that it was empty.
Moving to the front door, she saw his panic bag was gone and even though he had abandoned her without so much as attempting to wake her up, at least he had the decency to lock the door on his way out so no one could get in. At least, not without alerting her.
Huffing, feeling rather annoyed at the whole thing, she went back to the bedroom to gather her things at a much more leisurely pace. No reason to rush out the door now with mass panic, It'd only be out of the frying pan and straight into the fire.
So, she collected everything that was useful that she could carry and packed it up, taking her time and being thorough. Sat on her bed behind a locked door, she started whistling periodically, and waited.
Ghost would be along soon enough, he was never far away, and appeared at her side much quicker when she was in danger.
Even though she really shouldn't have, she couldn't help but take a little nap to wait for him. How long could he really take, anyways? She'd probably be woken up in the next ten minutes by the sound of him banging on the front door downstairs and whistling back urgently. So, she closed her eyes and let herself drift of just for a few moments.
---
Instead of Ghost's gentle whistling and nudging her, she woke up to the sight of a large gun in her face, making her panic (again) and pull out the knife she kept under her pillow and point it at them, eyes wide with fear.
"Woah there lass," The man said in a strange accent she didn't recognize, holding up a placating hand and lowering his gun.
The other three men in the room still had their guns trained on her, though. "You're- military?" She questioned, brown eyes flicking between the three men in the bedroom clad in dark clothing and bulletproof vests.
"What's left of it. I'm Captain John Price," The mustached man said, stepping forward with his hand out and his gun lowered.
Freya took a calming breath and tucked her knife into her back pocket, then shook his hand, "Freya. What time is it?"
"About 4 am, probably," The first man shrugged, blue eyes glancing out at the sky through the window.
"Shit," She let out a quiet curse, and rushed to the window, throwing it open and letting out a low, slightly panicked whistle into the night air. A few zombies on the street below groaned and tilted their heads up at her, but couldn't pose a threat from a story below them even if they wanted to.
After waiting a few seconds without any response, she let out a breath. "Ok, good. He's not close by yet. Must really be chaos down there if he's still so far away," She huffed out, relaxing her shoulders.
"Who?" The dark-skinned man asked curiously.
"Uh- my friend," She hesitated, not sure if she should really trust these men, but then again she didn't have much of a choice at the moment, "He's a hybrid. Like, half zombie? And I'm his person. He'd really freak if he came in here and saw you guys pointing guns at me. You shouldn't threaten me in front of him if you want to live- I'd probably be a better idea if I greeted him first, he takes my safety very seriously and we just had a little.. incident with that."
"Sorry, wait, his person?" The Captain asked, "What do you mean?"
Freya blinked at him, "You know, like the thing that's keeping him human. I'm that thing."
"Hybrids can attatch to people? I thought they couldn't?" The accented man asked, one hand on his hip as he lowered his gun to the floor.
She just shrugged, unsure. "He also used to be military, before this I think," unconsciously, her fingers touched the dog tags under her shirt, "He doesn't like to talk about it much. But you guys might get along? Just don't stand to close to me if you want to live."
John's face hardened into a frown, "I'd be best if you'd stop threatening us, love," He told her like a father scolding his kid.
"I'm not threatening you, I'm just telling you how it is, you guys seem ok, so I'm trying to help you-" The sound of a whistle cut through the air and cut her off, sharp and loud, coming from the front door.
"That's him," She perked up instantly, moving to exit the bedroom, "Er.. you guys should stay here... Please?" She tacked on that last ask as they gave her strange looks, but ignored it as she turned her back and hopped down the stairs, whistling back to him low and fast, reassuring that she was ok.
"Si-!" She unlocked the door, glancing behind him at a few zombies who shrunk away from his aggressive growls with low whines, "Hey."
He grunted in response, closing and locking the door behind him after stepping in, pulling her into a hug. "Spoiled fuckin' brat," He huffed out, words teasing although filled with relief.
"What'dya call out for me for? Get scared of the dark?" He asked as he pulled away, looking down at her.
"No, Si, there's some guys here. They said they're military, and I got a little spooked when I woke up to some random guys face and not your mask. They're cool, I think." She told him quickly, eyes glancing up at the sounds of the old floorboards creaking at the same time his did.
Of course, Ghost had smelled the three men long before he had seen them, knew they were there before he even stepped into the house, but as long as she was safe he didn't care.
But now, things were different.
"Lt?!" The first man called out, wide smile on his face, "Cap'n! It's Ghost!"
John was the second one to come out of the bedroom, face full of hard skepticism, the kind you gain after spending years as a captain in the military, and then spending years in the apocalypse, but the expression melted away into one of soft disbelief, eyebrows raising, small smile on his face as he took in the familiar mask.
The dark-skinned man followed after his Captain, a gun slung around his back as his hazel eyes flicked back and forth between his old teammate and the new girl. "Bloodly hell," He huffed out, unable to keep the smile off his face.
"Knew ya still had ta be kickin' around somwhere, Lt!" The first man laughed, hopping down the stairs two at a time to greet his lieutenant.
"Easy, Johnny," Ghost warned him, wrapping his arms protectively around Freya.
"Aw c'mon! I 'avent seen ya in two years an' I can't get a hug?" Johnny asked as he reached the bottom of the stairs and walked closer.
Only when the man let out a possessive, nearly feral snarl in his direction did the man stop, pausing mid-step to look at the two, Freya giving him an apologetic smile, and Ghost wrapped around her, pulling her into his body, teeth barred behind his mask. He did trust his former Sargent, he did. But he was close, too close to what was his.
"Easy Mactavish," John repeated the man's words from earlier as he made his way down the stairs next, setting a hand on the Sargent's shoulder. "You've read about hybrids before, met a few. Ya'know how they are. Give him some time to relax and trust us again. It has been two years after all." He told them all.
Johnny nodded, understanding, gave him a low, "Yes sir," in response, but she could see how much it hurt to be regarded as a threat by Simon.
Freya felt bad for them all, and although she knew it wasn't actually her fault, she couldn't help but feel like a direct cause of the tension in the air.
So, she broke away from his hold when he loosened it, and slipped between the two surprised men as she made her way to the living room.
"Come on, don't you guys wanna talk?" She called over her shoulder, positioning herself in a nice safe corner, easily defensible, but with an easy escape route back to the front door if needed.
Simon chuckled, shaking his head as he moved to be infront of her, but still kept her in his eyesight, a position where he could interact with his team without feeling threatened by their proximity to his person.
The other men followed, mixture of surprise and impressed by just how well she knew their lieutenant. Once deemed safe, Johnny gave the taller man a wide boyish grin and pulled him into a hug, rocking them back and forth like a long-lost lover before being pushed off with low snicker and an eye roll.
Gaz greeted him next, a firm handshake and a pat on the back, telling him it was nice to see him again.
Both Simon and the Captain were not one for showy pleasantries, so the John just gave him a firm couple of pats on his shoulder with a few words, "Good to have you back Ghost."
"Good to be back Captain," He nodded, which prompted Johnny to ask how it had all happened, how he ended up bitten, why he left.
It happened two years ago, obviously. They were on their way back from a failed rescue mission of civilians when a zombie reached out and bit his ankle. He hadn't worn his boots that day, so it had bit right through his cargo pants and infected him. He shot it, and went with them back to base, only making up an excuse just before they crossed the gate that he forgot something, and leaving on foot to make sure he didn't put his team in danger.
After four days of being holed up in an abandoned house, he didn't turn. It was only then that he realized he wasn't human anymore. He was something more now, or perhaps something less. He spent a week at base with them, but he was withdrawn, unsure of his ability to accidentally infect his team, or how long he'd be able to control his urges. He grew hungry, and angry, and it became harder and harder to control himself.
After an incident where he nearly killed a fellow soldier, Simon left. He couldn't stick around knowing he might put the lives of his team mates at risk, so he left. It only took him a few days to stumble apon Freya, and ended up saving her from some men who were attempting to rape her. He killed them, and ate them.
All three grimaced at hearing that. They knew hybrids had to eat, but hearing it directly from Ghost that he ate a human was a hard thing to hear. Freya rubbed his back comfortingly, and joked that they hadn't even gone to the part where he stalked her for a month before she confronted him.
Gaz asked him what happened that made her 'your person', and he shrugged, doing his best to explain the surge of protectiveness he suddenly felt, the urge to be around her constantly, the jealous and possessive feelings he gets when others get too close.
His brain needed something to latch onto, someone he could protect to justify the monster that he was. A reason to kill other people. What better than a young girl in trouble?
His instincts told him to protect her, from any potential threat.
"Don't let her appearance fool you, she's a right spoiled brat," Ghost told them, chuckling when she slapped his back.
"And who's fault is that Si?" She sassed, looking up at him with her hand on her hip, "It's not like I've been out here spoiling myself for the past two years."
"Aye, lass' got a fair point, Lt," Johnny grinned, and Ghost glared at him.
Suddenly, the sound of someone frantically knocking on the front door stopped them all in their tracks, all heads turning to look at the front door, the doorhandle being jiggled.
Ghost inhaled sharply, body tense as he caught a familiar scent. Immediately, Freya noticed the change, something she had seen plenty of times before. Something predatory, something possessive, something deadly.
His feet are moving before she can even reach a hand out to stop him, and she can just barely hear the low growl in his chest as he stalked towards the door.
"Freya, thank god-!" Jake breathed out, relieved as he stumbled through the door after Ghost had yanked it open, only to look up in fear, down the barrel of a gun.

This is a thought I had about God of War Ragnarok that I feel like I've not seen anyone else discuss but has plagued my mind since it ended. Everyone - characters and players alike - seem to forget that Brok accepted his death at Odin's hand.
Let me elaborate.
Brok (and Sindri) built Mjolnir for Thor. He had worked with the Aesir in the past. And, upon seeing the horrible destruction wrought from the hammer, created the Leviathan Axe for Faye. He was also a dwarf, and while we may not know the exact timeline of Asgard's occupation, he is obviously well aware of what Odin did in his home realm - specifically to what happened to dwarves who attempted revolution or other uprising.
The point is, Brok was very aware of what Odin and Asgard were like when he decided to help Kratos and Atreus.
Now, on to Post-Brok's death.
Obviously Sindri is heartbroken, and I cannot blame him for his anger against Atreus and Kratos in any way at this point in time. They were the people who effectively recruited Brok and Sindri into the protagonists' group, and even if the two dwarves were happy to do it, Kratos and Atreus were still the ones who asked them to. Brok's death resulted from that request.
But it was still Brok's informed and willing choice.
To quote Freya from God of War 2018, "I put my needs, my fears before [Baldur's] own." And that feels very much like what Sindri has done with Brok in my opinion.
When Brok originally died in the forge, Sindri saved him but refused to tell Brok what happened and in turn caused their split. When he died a second time by Odin's hand, Sindri came to blame Atreus (and to some extent the others), regardless of Brok's agency and knowledge of what he was getting into. Brok knew that they were heading towards Ragnarok and feasibly their deaths. He obviously didn't want to die, but he openly accepted the risks that came with aiding Atreus.
Sindri placed his own fear of being alone above the desires of Brok to know how he died and to help with Ragnarok.
I should add here that it's one thing for Sindri to blame Atreus initially, because he was grieving the death of his beloved brother and literally about to go to war. I won't blame him for that.
But, given what's been set up in the games, Sindri will probably continue to be antagonistic. And, if he continues to blame Atreus for what happened to Brok - it will draw an interesting parallel to Kratos and Freya in my opinion.
One party blaming the other for the death of a loved one that was partially the blamed person's fault, while the true culprit (Odin in both cases) is left unacknowledged. In the first case, Odin is ignored because Freya could not get to him, but she could get to Kratos and blame him for Baldur's death. In the second case, Odin is already dead by Sindri's own hand, Brok's soul cannot be revived, and Sindri mostly lacks the power to do more that tell Atreus he hates him. There is no satisfying vengeance to Sindri's grief that hasn't already been achieved, which is why I think he'll be an antagonist in the future, since he's obviously still angry.
There's also a side-tangent I could write on - the fact that Sindri was sent to rally the dwarves against Asgard, but chose not to involve them during Ragnarok. Obviously it did successfully keep the dwarves safe, which was Sindri's intention - but it robbed them of their ability to fight for their freedom during Ragnarok (something they probably wanted to do very badly considering the rebellions talked about in the game), which is once again a parallel to Kratos, Freya, and Baldur's death.
We see it in almost every other aspect of the games' story. Atreus and Kratos lying or withholding details from each other - not maliciously, but with the intent to protect in a way that backfires (in both 2018 and Ragnarok). The same with Freya and Baldur (her protection spell driving him insane), and even with Thrud, Thor, and Sif (her mother claiming that Thrud can't be a Valkyrie because Sif is afraid of what Odin will make her do in that role, while Thor encourages it so that she might be strong enough to keep herself safe).
And finally, Sindri claiming that Brok's death was the fault of Atreus despite Brok's informed and willing choice to fight Odin, denying Brok agency over his choice to help, even in death.
A quote Kratos from God of War Ragnarok to sum this whole thing up, "I do not regret saving your life and never will. But the choice between life and death should have been yours to make. I should not have robbed you of that choice."

Growing up in New Orleans was a vivacious experience. Unluckily, in most other cities in the United States, you had first-hand exposure to the history of jazz, voodoo magic, and other French inspirations that didn’t exist elsewhere. Things went bump in the night, and the next day, most people didn’t remember it. In one of the less crowded areas of New Orleans, though, was a small cafe, slash bookstore, and slash record store. The owner, Louis, couldn’t decide what to open, so he did it all. You could go in, get a latte, and then parooze the various vinyls and books for sale before settling down with your new entertainment. Sometimes, even local bands would play, or authors would have Q&As for their new releases. You worked at Louis’ (aptly titled) for about a year. You loved listening to the music, getting to know the regulars, and getting an employee discount on the books you loved. People also enjoyed the various specials each season, most of them named and/or paired with books or vinyl. It was just more fun that way.
One day, as you were wiping down the counters distractedly, you were startled from your stupor by a ring of the bell on the counter. Looking up, you noticed a gorgeous blond woman in front of you. Tall, with blond waves and blue eyes the color of a raging sea. She was willowy, but when she smiled at you, it felt like you were given a gift. You realized that she asked a question.
“Sorry, long day– can you repeat that?” you asked, throwing your rag to the side.
“What is your hot cocoa special like?” she asked, a slight rasp to her tone. You looked at the sign she was glancing at, advertising the Narnia special with a copy of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis.
“It’s a traditional hot chocolate topped off with caramel and hazelnut sprinkles, kind of like some iterations of Turkish Delight,” you answer. You stuttered a bit; you were never that good at talking to attractive people.
“Like the White Witch?” she smiles. You nod, and she goes to pull out her wallet. “I’d love to get a 12oz of that then.”
“What’s a good name for the order?” you smile as you find a stray Sharpie around. Truthfully, you didn’t take names at Louis’, but you just wanted to know hers.
“Freya.” She helped you spell it out, and you wondered the origin of the name. You got right to her order, glancing up now and then to see her looking at the shelves of books or the bargain bin in the record portion of the store.
She came in every day for the next two weeks. Your co-workers knew you harbored a slight crush on her, and every time she was in, they would excitedly text you, even if it were your day off. You would find ways to return to the cafe, citing forgetting something or needing to pick up a paycheck. You would strike up a conversation with her when you could. You discussed your favorite music, books, everything. She told you she’d been away for a while and was still getting used to being home with her family. On one eventful day, you showed her one of your favorite records ever (“Jagged Little Pill is a tribute to female angst, and necessary for all women to listen to,” you told her, shoving the record in her hand.) She came back the next day to say to you that she listened to all of it, switching back and forth between wanting to cry and wanting to throw furniture around her room. Every time she came in, she ordered the same hot cocoa. One time, she came in with a very handsome man in a well-pressed suit and an aura of sophistication. Your heart sank, but you relaxed when she introduced him as her brother. Freya still ordered her usual hot cocoa, but you convinced her brother (Elijah, you learn his name is) to try a London Fog if he hasn’t already. Freya tells you later that he enjoyed the tea latte and subtly went to the store the next day to get Earl Grey tea to make his own.
“Just ask her out,” Nimm, your good friend and co-worker, chastises you one day after the morning rush. You make sure to glare at them, returning to cleaning the espresso machine. “You like her.”
“She would not go out with someone like me,” you mumble. Nimm sighs, and you can tell they’re getting ready to lecture you on the merits of self-esteem.
“You are a wonderful person, Y/N. Don’t sell yourself short,” Nimm grabs the cleaning rag from you so that you’ll pay attention. “The worst that can happen is she says no. Not life or death. You’ll survive.”
You don’t have the chance to argue more with Nimm as Freya walks in at that second. Nimm vacates immediately, leaving you alone with Freya.
“The usual?” you ask, wringing your hands nervously under the counter.
“You read my mind,” Freya chuckles, already getting out her wallet. You can feel Nimm’s stare from the back, and you turn to see them motioning for you to get on with it. You send them an unsavory gesture before Freya can notice. Freya starts to ask a question.
“How are–”
“Do you want to get coffee sometime?” you rush, your eyes widening as you register Freya’s surprised expression. It quickly morphs into a smile, though, and you wonder if it’s possible for someone as young as you to have a heart attack.
“I was waiting for you to ask,” she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, and you thought you might explode in happiness. You heard vague cheering from the backroom and saw both Nimm and Louis celebrating. You gestured for Freya to wait a second as you stormed into the back and tried to beat up both of them. After many crashes, some screaming, and a few expletives, a couple of minutes later, you returned to Freya, who was trying her hardest not to die of laughter.
“Let me make your drink,” you sigh, scribbling on her cup before finishing the hot cocoa. Freya smiles as she notices that you put your number on the cup. “Meet me here tomorrow? I get off at 2 pm this time.”
“Sounds like a date,” Freya grins, walking out the door. You’re joined a second later by Nimm throwing an arm around you.
“See, that wasn’t so hard!” Nimm exclaims.
“When I murder you, I’ll make sure to make it look like an accident.”
Freya met you outside your work the next day, and despite not being dressed much differently than usual, she still took your breath away. She was like an ice princess, not because she was cold, but because she was effervescent. You walked arm in arm to a place that reminded you of her only after a couple of days of Freya coming to Louis’s. It was called Sucre Rêve, a chocolatier from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. You had made a reservation for the upstairs, where they served some of the best gourmet hot chocolate you’d ever had. Freya’s eyes were wide as saucers as she took in all the bright colors of the store, the cotton ball clouds suspended from the ceiling, and the various glittery decorations that made the place like a dreamland. You both ordered their classic coco covered in sprinkles and spent the whole experience laughing over whipped cream staches and talking about your various lives. You learned Freya was the oldest of six siblings, but two of them sadly passed away. They all lived together in the French Quarter, even though sometimes they didn’t get along. You didn’t press her for what happened to her other siblings or the family dynamic; you just appreciated her opening up. In return, you talked about your home life and shared more music recommendations for her. She had since become a vast Alanis Morisette fan, and you couldn’t blame her. You recommended Tori Amos to continue her journey into becoming a 90s rock girl.
You left the chocolatier feeling as light as a feather. The sky was dimming with the hints of a sunset, the winter months making everything go dark early. You just walked with Freya through the last remnants of the sun, enjoying the cotton candy clouds.
“Thank you for going out with me,” you said, breaking the silence.
“I would do it again,” she breathed softly. You stopped before Louis, hands in your jacket pockets as you searched for what to say. “Can I call you?”
“Always,” you answer, much quicker than what is considered excellent. Freya steps towards you, pushing a strand of hair behind your ear. Your breath catches in your throat as she kisses your cheek, her lips cold from the weather. “You missed,” you mutter, watching Freya’s eyebrows draw together in confusion. You lean forward, kissing her on her lips, enjoying the little gasp she lets out as you press further into her. You kiss her once on her cheek before pulling away. “Like I said, you missed.”
She grins, pulling you in for another kiss as the sun continues descending behind you, painting you both in a warm glow. And to think you finally found your perfect person over a cup of hot cocoa.

God of War Valhalla DLC (Aka, 'Kratos and Mimir go on a bro trip that ends up being Therapy')
Just wanted to start by saying thank whatever is out there for Santa Monica Studios, for their phenomenal work into giving Kratos some much needed development and exploring his complexity. I'll explore this game in subsequent posts and maybe any suggestions you're welcome to shoot my way.
Tumblr media
Spoilers ahead!
I think it's a testament to how beloved the Norse games have been through the amount of cheering the second Kratos came on the screen during the reveal trailer for Valhalla, Mimir in tow. After rewatching the "Raising Kratos" Documentary on YT, I know the team at Santa Monica Studios really feel the love from their fans. If they intend to make a game about Kratos going to another mythology, I really hope Mimir is with him. It's clear they've gotten very close between 2018 and Ragnarök with how at ease and personal they get, especially since I'm pretty sure if Kratos left him with Freya, she's likely to 'misplace' him in the Lake of Nine. I found the different difficulty settings interesting when you first chose Valhalla at the main menu. I started on the 3rd (the very middle) and am currently working my up when I feel it's getting to hard. Right now I'm at the one right before "Show Me Mastery" (the names escape me lol). I'm not expert at Rogue-Likes, but the consensus I seem to see is that the gameplay of God of War really lends itself well to the style of game. And what a genius way to utilize what was previously, I felt, an underused character, Tyr! Even when you free him in Niflheim, I feel I was waiting for him to do more outside the post-story interactions you get to get glimpses to his character (and potentially hint and later games). Him being Kratos' therapist is really demonstrates how similar they both are, how strong Tyr is, and what we can hopefully see Kratos grow into moving forward. As someone who recently started therapy around the same time as this DLC came out, I couldn't help but feel connected to Kratos myself. Especially Mimir. I, too, have been trying to improve from someone I wasn't proud of and as a result I'm too hard on myself sometimes. It limits me from achieving personal acceptance, like I don't deserve the good things in my life. What this game puts Kratos (and myself by proxy) through, is how to accept his actions, his mistakes. To acknowledge who we were and to not let it stop us from embracing the chances to do better. Now, you don't have to have killed entire pantheons, your family, and plunge a society into destruction with mountains of innocent lives at your feet... but I think we can agree that kind of message resonates. The scene where he sees his younger self in that throne just HITS. Kratos admonishes his past self for doing such awful things and being such an awful person... but also accepting him/himself to be more complex than that, he always has been. In a way, it sticks it to the people who said (prior to the 2018 game) that God of War is just about over the top violence, blood, tits, gore, more blood is missing the forest for the trees. They're big trees, sure, but not the whole forest. There was always more to Kratos that violence and the hack and slash genre, dude is a massive greek tragedy. And in Norse, he's putting Hero's Journeys like he was born for it.
Tumblr media
The side conversations with Mimir hit me the hardest, grappling with your own self esteem when you feel you aren't enough for our loved ones, hearing about he and Sigrun first met, how utter in love he was with her throughout the last two games and here. It strikes a familiar cord... which is why I'm so glad he was able to let go so she can find herself in the end and the support he has from Kratos. We talk about all the time how the wise and loving decision is usually to let go (as it is!), but I think it must be said how hard it can be. It's the right choice, ultimately, but damn if isn't difficult to actually get there. I think my take away has been more of an affirmation that letting go is what I need to do, and the way to help ease the transition is to make sure I have a support system and learn to love time with myself in order to value my own merits, even if I have shortcomings. "Does she not deserve the smartest man alive?" CHILLS On a less serious note, it's good to see Freya out and about! Finding her freedom and stepping up as a leader for the 9 realms. It's good to see that post story, she does care about the both of them. Maybe they parted ways for a bit as Freya takes a more public role in organizing her council, but their journeys (which we can assume all side objectives you can do with her are canon) brought more than a professional connection. Like,
Tumblr media
(sorry for shit quality) Totally gives off "Wife found Husband doing something reckless/stupid" vibes. And I'll admit, I am like... 85% if not 90% on the Kraya/Freytos/Warflower train. Baldur's death really does weigh on my mind when I think about Freya and Kratos as a pairing. And I do also like the idea of them being good friends as time goes on. Not to mention Kratos likely still holds Faye close and Freya's last marriage was fuckin bonkers. But I still do like to see these grieving parents, comrades at arms, finding a home in each other, a connection that makes each one feel safe, real, and loved. Not without bumps in the road, but they'd make an awesome power couple. And the shameless smut, but it goes without saying. Oh and whatever reaction it would get from Atreus would be hilarious.
In the end, this DLC really leaves me wanting more, theorizing where the story goes from here. I see a lot of people throwing out ideas on what mythologies they go to next, who's our next playable character. I feel it's still gonna be Kratos, but I also feel it has to make sense to his story. He's become very developed in this DLC, when you have a character who becomes so developed, there is little room/reason to really keep telling their story, at least in a way that can translate to an action pact video game epic. The only thing I can think of for Kratos, is we get to see him follow through with his development. And that, my friends, is another post. Until then! I hope enjoyed my ramblings!

Alliance Commander Ask Game
THE WAY I SCREAMED WHEN I FOUND THIS IN MY DRAFTS. I was tagged a very long time ago by @sullustangin to do this and I completely forgot
1) Who’s your Alliance Commander? What class are they? Alignment? Random other facts you wanna share?
Tumblr media
My Jedi Knight is my canonical Commander for my legacy. Her name is Minerva and she’s been through a lot of changes since I started playing her in 2018. She is a Guardian tank with a Shadow secondary class. She’s trapped at Light 5 because of how the old alignment system worked, but I headcanon she’s closer to Light Three. She has one of the most detailed backstories I've ever made for a character and I'm so proud of her :') She's like my child lol
2) What’s a reason or two you like that this character is your Commander? Minerva is not and never wanted to be a leader in any way and I live for that kind of inner conflict. Plus the expansions feel very natural with the Knight as the Commander imo.
3) What’s a reason or two you don’t like about them being Commander? I can’t think of anything other than I wish the writers would let her get some rest. Give me a cutscene where she's just enjoying being with her friends and boyfriend pls
4) Why did this character of all your OCs become Commander? Like I said earlier, it felt natural for Minerva to continue her fight against Vitiate and she was also the first character I got to endgame before Onslaught came out so she's just fixed as the Commander in my mind.
5) Who did they side with? Did they stay loyal or go saboteur? Or maybe you headcanon they defect properly? Minerva decided to side with the Republic, but she kept the Alliance separate and declined the offer to become a member of the Order again. She believes in the Republic but she hasn’t been a Jedi for a long time – even before she was put in the carbonite. And it would be incredibly inappropriate given a new “attachment” in her life.
6) Are there any NPC’s from the class stories you’d like to see/HC join the Alliance? Ex: Master Timmns, Ardun Kothe, Watcher One, etc. Lord. PRAVEN. In my hc, he was on Ossus during kotfe/kotet and joins the Alliance after Onslaught. He's Minerva's bestie and the writers can't take this away from me.
7) How’s your OC feeling about the current Malgus situation? She's over it, honestly. She is so tired of people coming back from the dead.
8) Are any of your other OC’s part of the Alliance? If yes what do they do for the Alliance? Do they get along with your Commander?
Tumblr media
My Chiss trooper, Jame Harper, is Minerva's cousin but they're closer to sisters. Harper had given up hope she was still alive and attacked Zakuul to avenge her. Once she joins the Alliance, Harper is responsible for training new recruits and strategizing for the big battles.
Tumblr media
After the incident on Dromund Kaas, Acina sent her Wrath to Odessen to show the Empire’s support. Tegan and Minerva’s old rivalry picked up right where it left off but now that they're on the same side, they actually start to respect each other. They become frenemies but it doesn't last long.
Tumblr media
Freya and her Clan join Torian on Odessen and are responsible for keeping the peace between Imperial and Republic personnel. Freya knows Minerva doesn't have much family so she takes on an almost motherly role, fussing over her and making sure she takes care of herself.
Tumblr media
My Smuggler, Lyall, is Minerva's eyes and ears in the Outer Rim. He's a friend to the Alliance, not an actual member, but he appreciates what they're trying to do. He and Minerva share a history so it's no big deal for him to help out on the occasional mission.
9) How does your OC feel about Odessen? (Bonus: how do you feel about it) Despite all the craziness around her, Minerva feels at peace on Odessen - something she's not felt in a long time. She loves the wild forests and the endless lakes and rivers. It feels like home. She's never felt that way about anywhere before, not even the Jedi Order. I personally love Odessen. I wish there was a stronghold on Odessen so I could decorate it to Minerva's tastes.
10) How does your Commander feel about being the Commander? To say Minerva has a complicated relationship with it would be an understatement. Some days, it's great. She's doing more for the galaxy than she ever could as a Jedi. But sometimes she realizes just how many lives will be effected by her decisions and she feels trapped. She doesn’t feel anyone should ever have so much power. But she's lucky to have such a strong support system behind her and they make it bearable.
11) Favorite place in the Alliance base? Minerva's favorite is the little pool at the base of the statue in the Force Enclave. She meditates for hours in the sunlight coming in through the crack in the ceiling. As for mine, it has to be the war room. I love seeing my companions just vibing with each other.
12) Favorite mission in KotFE? Definitely visiting the old world on Zakuul with Senya. I wish we got to see more of it or at least get a Zakuulan stronghold but I doubt the story will ever bring us back to Zakuul :(
13) Favorite mission in KotET? The palace mission, just because it's where we get Arcann lmao
14) Least favorite mission in either? Why? The walker missions are brutal. Except for the one on Iokath. That one is so much fun lol
15) Is your Commander successful because they’re skilled? Or are they perhaps just really lucky? Minerva has worked hard to hone her body and mind into a weapon, but she also believes the Force is on her side as long as she listens to it. To her, luck doesn't exist.
16) From our OC’s point of view, SoR -> KotET wasn’t a fun experience, did they develop any fears as a result? A lot of her fears were realized. She was abandoned by the people she trusted and the Jedi Order, the only constant in her life, was practically wiped out. Valkorion was once again in her head and the fear of him taking over at any given moment made her distance herself from the people around her in order to protect them. It was the loneliest period of her life.
She also has a fear of public speaking so she hates it when she has to give speeches to encourage people.
17) AU time! If your Commander wasn’t Commander, which of your other OCs would have likely taken their place? Harper has a habit of falling into positions of leadership despite her loner attitude. I can see her somehow accidentally becoming Commander in Minerva's place because no one else stepped up.
18) Who’s someone your Commander hopes they never have to deal with again?
Tumblr media
19) Does your Commander hold on to/still use any titles they earned before KotET? Minerva's begun to let go of her old life but she doesn't mind being called "Master" or "Battlemaster" by other Jedi. She earned those titles so it's a sign of respect for her.
20) Share something, anything at all, you want about your Commander that you’ve not really gotten the chance to share before but really want to. Minerva loves trashy entertainment. Holovids, shows, books - it doesn't matter, she loves it all. It's antithesis to everything she was used to growing up that she found it so compelling. She's also a sucker for those romance books you see in line at the grocery store.

Outside of Elijah/Klaus (cause there was absolutely 0 reason both of them died), which character in all of TVDU do you think had the most unnecessary/dumb death?
Honestly Klaus and Elijah aren't even in my top. Yes, both of them dying was dumb, but there are so many other death's that were more unnecessary. At least Elijah and Klaus made it to the end of TO.
Some honorable mentions: Hayley, Tyler, Gia, Josh, Enzo, Jo, Lexi, Sophie, Eve, Jesse, Aaron, Aya, Jackson, all of the hybrids, Carol, Henry, Celeste (first time), Genevie (first time and kind of second time). I'm sure there are more.
But my most unnecessary/dumb death is Cami O'Connell.
Tumblr media
There was zero reason for her to die and it was because she wasn't meant to die. I firmly believe she was meant to be the school psychologist in Legacies. It would have made so much sense for her to be there for Hope after Hope lost so much of her family. It also would have allow a woman on the show to have a happy ending that wasn't centered around a man. Her happy ending would have been watching over Hope and helping all of the supernatural children, fulfilling her family's destiny.
Cami still had so much of a story left to tell. She was so young and full of promise. She lost her entire family due to the supernatural world and then was forced into it herself. If anyone in TO is a parallel to Elena, it is Cami. Her family legacy was so entrenched in the supernatural that it was only a matter of time before she herself was pulled into it.
Even her death made no sense. Lucien wanted to hurt Klaus for 'stealing' Aurora from him, but at that point, Lucien had the ability to kill Klaus. Sure, maybe he wanted him to suffer, so why not go after Hope? She was out in the bayou essentially unprotected (let's be honest, what could Mary have done?).
Even if we accept Lucien wanted to make it even by taking away Klaus' love, how did they not save her? Like two days later the entire Mikaelson gang is bitten and Freya just magically thinks of a way to freeze them and save them all? They couldn't have thought of that a little quicker? It's funny how they always manage to think of life saving magic when the plot/Mikaelsons require it, but there's no other options when it comes to sacrificing other characters.
Even if we accept that she died, they really didn't even make an effort to bring her back? Davina was able to be brought back from the dead after her soul was shredded. I know the other side was gone at that point, but let's not pretend the show didn't just bring back characters with very little rhyme or reason. The Mikaelsons didn't even attempt to find a way to bring her back.
And no one even say it was to help Klaus' character development. I hate when women are killed to further a man's development. It was clear in the writing that Klaus still needed Cami for his development. He was just at the brink of trying to be a better person, he was nowhere near done. We can clearly see this in the amount of scenes Hayley becomes ooc in order to be Cami for Klaus. Or Caroline coming in season 5, which made no sense, was clearly meant to be Cami.
Cami was an O'Connell and this meant something in New Orleans. People who claim her character was just a love interest were not watching. Her character was going to unite New Orleans. Not Hayley, not Hope, and definitely not the Mikaelsons. Every faction adored her. Marcel and Vincent loved her and would have done anything to keep her safe. The Mikaelsons each loved her outside of her relationship with Klaus. She would have always been a mother figure to Hope, no matter what her relationship was. Hayley loved her as well. We don't see her interact with the wolves too much but that's because they were largely forgotten in the writing. But every faction loved her and respected her. Her legacy was fixing the war in New Orleans. Which I love the writers just kind of dropped and everything magically go better when the Mikaelsons left, even though the war had been going on longer than the Mikaelsons were there.
The writers had not planned to kill her off but because of the toxicity of the fandom, they killed her off. This is just bad writing. They writers often cared more about ratings than the actual art of story telling and the show suffered because of it.
Thanks for the ask! What other deaths do you all think were unnecessary?

When it comes to OttoKallen, the argument is always that the couple can only be canon in GGZ, because the people have different character traits from timeline to timeline. But that is not entirely correct. In the official international webcomic "Divine Key" this page appears:
Tumblr media
Chapter 1: Jizo Mitama | Page 19 And these excerpts can also be found in the official "Honkai Cronicles - Otto Apocalpse" video:
Tumblr media
From 4:37 to 4:40. And these excerpts are from "Dark Sakura Tales", a Gun Girls Z (Houkai Gakuen) Ex webcomic:
Tumblr media
This webcomic is completely consistent with the story of Elan Palatinus and the "Honkai Chronicles - Otto Apocalpse" video. You can see it in this scene here:
Tumblr media
In contrast to "St. Freya High", where this scene was missing and there were other scenes that clashed with other webcomics and the game content. So we can say that the story of "Dark Sakura Tales" happened like this not only in GGZ, but also in Honkai Impact the 3rd. Otherwise these screenshots would never have been included in the webcomic and the explanatory video. And in this webcomic, Sakura's feelings are rather one-sided:
Tumblr media
Kallen loved Otto. Otherwise she wouldn't have said "Maybe in another world..." when it came to a wedding and even married him in one of the timelines. And to compare GGZ and Honkai: Star Rail... In GGZ the story with it´s characters and background remains the same. Except for small differences. In HSR, however, the story is completely different and therefore characters may deviate from their original behavior. It's good to see that by Seele.
Tumblr media
In HI3, the original Seele (see below) split off part of her soul, creating a second personality (the blue Seele, picture above). This personality largely took over her body and her life. It can also be equated with dissociative identity disorder. In HSR, this dissociative identity disorder apparently did not take place. That is the difference. At this point you can speculate whether HSR Seele also falls in love with Bronya or not, because in HI3 her personality part actually kissed her and not her. In any case, Honkai: Star Rail has parallels to Honkai Impact the 3rd, but it's not the same story, unlike Gun Girls Z. OttoKallen is canon in GGZ. Anyway, they are married. So their love is canon in HI3 too. Becaue the Sakura story is the same and in that Kallen don´t love her back. This is proven by the screenshots, which were knowingly incorporated into the story. But that doesn't mean that they have to be canon in HSR. Thanks for reading.

Backstory:
63 years prior to the events of Baldur’s Gate 3, Joey was born to the Magistrate Lelia Fairwinter and her husband of the time, the bard Johan ‘Robinsong’ Wise in the city of Baldur’s Gate. Due to her mother coming from a well to do background, Joey’s early childhood was very comfortable and insular. However, that changed quite a bit, when her mother and father, in spite loving in each other very much, could no longer live together (due to incompatible ways of living which clashed against one another). While they didn’t divorce, they did separate, and Johan returned to his life as a commoner (albeit it with some money given to him by his wife at her insistence). Due to an agreement between her parents, Joey was shuttled between them throughout the rest of her childhood and adolescence, growing up in a world that was not a mix of human and elven culture, but of common and noble society as well.
Eventually, Joey took interest in the Apothecary trade, much to her mother’s surprise (and disappointment). Eventually, after a series of different living arrangements, she came to live with a maternal aunt, uncle, and cousin (who are poorer relations compared to the rest of that side of the family). Eventually, as her father came into old age and needed some help around the house, he was taken into the household as well. She considered her life defined by working in the apothecary shop, caring for her elderly father, and doing her best to master her rather volatile magical gifts. In her spare time, she spent time with friends or indulged in a good book.
However, a peculiar turns of events sent her life on a strange and frightening trajectory she never expected- entwined her fate to a man people in her circle believed to be dead and buried. And it started 10 years ago, in an upscale tavern where she was to meet a friend of hers.
While her friend had yet to appear, Joey encountered a rather mysterious and… peculiar man during the wait. He introduced himself as ‘Astarion’, and proceeded to have a brief conversation with her, clearly attempting to flirt with her and even attempting to coax her away with him. Joey found herself rather flustered and flabbergasted, but managed to utter a polite refusal. Her friend appeared, and Astarion quickly lost interest, fixing his attentions on another patron across the way. The rest of the evening was uneventful, and as far as Joey was concerned it was hardly anything of note. Just… a bit strange.
However, when she related the story back to her cousin the next day, he was rather intrigued. He had a late friend by the name of Astarion. He had been a colleague of Joey’s mother, a fellow magistrate and peer, and because they worked in the same courthouse and both had a penchant for quick jabs and a good laugh, her cousin and Astarion had become good friends. Her cousin remarks that perhaps she would have liked to meet his friend, although it’s hard to say whether the two would have gotten along.
Once again, it was interesting, but it was nothing Joey really thought on at first.
However, she ran into ‘her’ Astarion again after that first night. Quite a few times actually. At first, he didn’t seem too keen to interact with her compared to when they first met. Although he tolerated her presence. Eventually however, he seemed to cautiously come out of his shell, be more friendly with her. Even so, he seemed to keeps his cards close to his chest. Even after the time they spent, it occurred to Joey she still knew very little about him. Aside from his personality – he was confident, flirtatious and vain, with a penchant for threatrics, and had something of an uncaring/cruel streak at times. But she also learned something about him- that he wasn’t used to simple and genuine kindness. She wondered how much of what he presented to the world was genuine. Because it seemed like when her kindness caught him off guard… it seemed to reveal something else was underneath. Someone who was more afraid and uneasy than he let on, someone who had been hurt. Who may still be hurting.
And he never lingered too long around her. Although some nights he lingered longer than others.
She would have liked to think and she and Astarion became friends of a sort. They were amicable, and over time, he seemed to lose a bit of his cruel streak, at least around her, and he revealed himself to be a more wary, cynical, and uncertain sort. But he also revealed that her kindness was appreciated. He warned her she was naive for trusting someone like him, but he couldn’t say he didn’t appreciate her willingness to give him the benefit of the doubt all the same.
This went on for a number of years, until one day, she went to go visit her mother at the courthouse she worked at currently, as she had moved districts.
Joey was waiting for her in the hall, eyeing the portraits of former judges. And she was startled when her eyes fell on a portrait with a remarkably familiar face.
… Astarion?
Indeed, the man in the portrait was of striking resemblance to the man she had known for some years now. He looked just like him, save for the fact he wasn’t quite so pale, and his eyes were a deep, dark gold instead of a bloody red. He still had a bit of an air of vanity about him but he seemed…. Softer. More approachable.
She read the name plate, and indeed the given named inscribed for the individual in the portrait was ‘Astarion’.
What was going on here?
Her mother emerged from her chambers and found Joey examining the portrait, which led to a conversation where she asked about the late Magistrate. Who was he, as far as her mother knew? What was he like? … How did he die?
It was most curious. The portrait and the man she knew were so alike. A rather ludicrous thought occurred to her.
Was it possible that her Astarion and the late Magistrate were one at the same? That he was somehow not dead? How was he still alive? Why was he hiding out in places at night and letting others believe he was dead?
Was he up to no good? Or was he in trouble of a sort? What she heard from others led her to believe he was once upstanding so… what happened?
He had been so reluctant to talk about himself… why? This led to her doing a sort of unofficial ‘investigation’ of sorts, with the help of a pair of friends (Lys and Lukyan) to perhaps unearth the mystery of Astarion. And once she knew the truth, she was going to confront Astarion about it. That was her plan.
However, after some time into this endeavor, things came to a sudden, grinding halt on multiple fronts.
Joey’s friend, Lukyan, came to warn her away from continuing the investigation. He did not expect it at the time, but their probing had caught the attention of some influential folks whose feathers were dangerous to ruffle, and it was best not to ruffle them further. He could not in good conscience continue to help her, and he tried to discourage Lys from doing so either (he overheard something from a noble who, as would later be discovered, was connected to Cazador).
Second, Astarion suddenly grew cold to her, acting contemptuous of her presence, seeming eager to be rid of her. It hurt, but what hurt the most about it, was when she asked if she had done something, he simply told her he’d simply grown tired of her. (Unbeknownst to her, this was a lie said to push her away for her safety, as Astarion believed she was increasingly in danger of coming to the attention of someone who could hurt or kill her, or worse, destroy her and make her just like him. As it would turn out, he was right.)
Her company spurned, and her friends trying to pull her back from her endeavor, Joey was feeling powerless and lost. But, soon, she was about to be made even more powerless and left feeling afraid and uncertain. For one night, as she was walking home, she was attacked. She managed to fend off her attacker, being forced to kill them in self-defense. But when she examined them afterward, she discovered she had been set up by a Vampire (well, a Vampire Spawn, but still). And in that examination of the body, she remembered something. Certain peculiarities about Astarion began to click into place. The eyes, his complexion, the strange scar that looked like puncture marks in his neck. The fact she only seemed to be able to find him after sundown. The way he seemed particularly obsessed with necks. And come to think of it… had she ever seen his reflection?
No… it couldn’t be, could it?
She had come to another ludicrous conclusion. But after the attack, she was wounded, and needed to rest before she did anything. She would also need to be vigilant, should she be attacked again.
Thankfully, she managed to rest up at home without disturbance. But she wasn’t so sure she was truly safe.
Unfortunately things were about to go very, very wrong. Only a day after she recovered from her injuries, the city of Baldur’s Gate was attacked by a Mind Flayer ship that emerged from a portal that opened up in the sky. Buildings were destroyed, people were injured, and many were abducted by the vessel. And after sacrificing herself by putting herself in the way of a tentacle reaching for her father, she found herself among the abducted, imprisoned in a pod upon the ship.
She was subsequently infected with a mind flayer parasite. But little did she know, Astarion himself was also snatched and infected as well, and just as their paths had been forced to part, they would be forced to cross again when an opportunity presented itself for her to escape her captivity.
What would happen at their inevitable reunion? With their fates intertwining once again, how would their decade old bond grow and change? What sorts of new allies would they meet, entreat, and befriend? And how would each of them change each other and those around them, both within and without?
It is all yet to be seen.

10 Songs, 10 People
Was tagged by the pleasant @mrbexwrites whom graced us with her songs
Rules: Put your music on shuffle and list the first 10 songs that come up. Then go about describing how they relate to your WIP and or worldbuilding.
In truth I do not have a designated Lexical playlist, but what I do have is one massive playlist of songs that I can easily relate to characters/worldbuilding. I will admit to cheating and skipping a few songs due to irreverence or for being clown core.
Soft tagging: @rewritingrosie @squarebracket-trick @artcoffeecats @vicstmichael @sam-glade and whomever else wishes to join in.
Hero - 11vx
Wonderfully upbeat and woefully short. I always have seen this song as the theme that would play around the protagonist's "turning point" in Lexical. When they make a connection with their Inscription that lets them overcome something, or finding a weakness or solution to a situation. The title really says it all.
The Stains of Time - Kit Walters
It's video game music, it's MGRR, it's fight music. Specifically I'd say it's villain centric fighting music. I've got this character in my head who connects the concepts of water and time whom I could easily see this song fully being about. Where Hero is about the protag winning, Stains of Time is about Villains hamming it up.
Little Lion Man - Mumford and Sons
Ken, Host of Fangs, Lord of Hearts. No Inscribed has had an easy life. This one's life is full of regret, broken relationships, and estranged family. Like several Lexical characters he began his existence as the protagonist of his own story and has gone through several iterations; he has landed as a semi-significant side story of the Stage City campaign I'm running. "I really fucked it up this time, didn't I my dear?" perfectly fits him.
Gunman/Blotter - sageiskami
Hey it's more fight music! Specifically fight music that samples a literal fighting game. It's violence turned into entertainment for the ones doing it; and that doesn't describe any character better than it does Model Tom. She's a Shape of Flesh, a shapeshifter, a sociopath, and absolutely having such a fun time being a villain. He's extremely fun to roleplay as in Staged City, which is a slightly worrying statement.
Children of the Omnisiah - Guillam Davis
A haunting church choir with a back drop of electronic noise. I've come to associate electronic elements in songs with the Wyrd side of Lexical; and with it, this song goes with the Angels of Heaven. Invasive creatures from the edge of human imagination come to reap the souls of humanity and remind them of the gods they used to worship.
Bright Shadow - Hydelic
A comparatively (mostly) calmer piece. Wind, gears, windmills, nature, and the connective rhythm that ties them together. I find this song ties closely to the magic practitioners of Lexical, especially to one specific one: Richard Dahlmann. He comes from a long family of magicians, will workers who tame the Wyrd without ever fully giving one's self to it. A proud Old Warden. Fully human but able to play a song and have the world listen.
Numb - Freya Cathine, Jack Victor
There is a certain amount of humor and irony to this song I can't ignore, but read straight this song could easily be sung by Joshua of Broken Whole. Most of his life is inescapably about his relationship with his father. At first all his actions as a way to escape from under his father's influence; then during the story itself facing the same life his father had and attempting to do different. "To be more like me, and less like you" Joshua says into a mirror.
Fire Fire - Steam Power Giraffe
A song about a burning disaster and the affect it has on the survivor. The Wardens, Old and New, have attempted to keep Earth and humanity from itself for as long as recorded history. Whether it's the secret society of wyrdlings and wizards of the Old or the Inscribed costumed heroes of the New, history rhymes with itself. Disaster comes regardless of anyone's attempt to stop it, and those that manage to live through it can never fully walk away from the memories. Despite their good deeds and their heroism the history of the Wardens is full of failure and an inability to meaningfully save the world.
Hajnal - Venetian Snares
I love this, easily one of my favorite songs. In the context of Lexical it describes the First Wave, the several thousand first Inscribed. Those troubled individuals who woke up to a world carefully playing along to an old tune strung by those in power, and shattering it with drums and electronics. The First Wave marked the end of many things: mainly the Old Wardens, the Wyrd masquerade, and most world governments. It's hard to maintain a functional civilization when a politically charged maniac who can manifest explosions targets effectively any head of state. The First Wave turned Lexical into the Earth it now is, forever changing it's music.
No one is Flying the Plane - Panzerballett
Another favorite of mine. Organized discordant chaos held together by an underlying beat. This is the theme of the Staged City, the story of New Maine buckling underneath the unrelenting crises that plague it. Of course it's also specifically about one character, the BBEG of the campaign, one underlying beat of the song: (spoilers ahead for Staged City) The Baron. Nothing is actually happening naturally, everything is a stage being prepared for this one villain.

oh is the aliens and swords one the one that you were asking about museum practice a while back? I want to hear more about that 👀
@sydneysageivashkov Yes, it is! 🥳
(Thank you again for answering my museum questions a while back! I have even more museum questions now if you’re amenable sometime!)
This is the elevator pitch:
Arthur Rhydderch had spent years trying to ‘find his calling,’ as his thesis advisor described it. This wasn’t quite what I had in mind, the reincarnated Once and Future King thought as he gave his sword a twirl and launched himself at the alien before it could breathe another blistering spurt of flames.
Up-and-coming paleontologist Dr. Myrddin “Merlin” Emrys had thought he was adulting quite well; most days, he even managed to avoid getting yelled at by his landlady. Then secrets from his past life resurfaced, and everything fell apart. Facing an impossible choice, Merlin must come to terms with who he was, who he is, and—most importantly—who he wants to become.
Or: When Albion’s greatest need arrives in the form of an alien invasion, the reincarnated figures of legend must deal with the consequences of their shared past even as they fight for humanity’s future.
Arthur is cornered during the initial invasion in a building that has a collection of artifacts displayed in wall cases, so he breaks the glass (not security glass! just regular plate glass! There’s a joke about it later in the story) and pulls out a medieval sword in a ‘might as well go out fighting’ mindset, then ends up successfully killing the alien that cornered him.
It quickly becomes apparent that conventional modern weaponry is useless against the aliens. Only authentic medieval swords can kill them.
Arthur finds out that he’s the new King of England, despite having been 28th in line and having always held generally anti-monarchist views. He has to learn on the job how to actually lead/govern because Parliament and the rest of the upper levels of government have been obliterated, too, so all the ministers’ authority has temporarily reverted back to the Crown. He ends up working closely with the staff of an eclectic and widely respected (fictional) museum in London to try to figure out what it is about the swords that makes them effective. If they can figure it out, then everyone will have a better idea of how to fight the aliens effectively. (Spoiler: aliens = pterosaurs = dragons, and their only weakness is steel that is forged in dragonfire.)
Gwen is an expert on medieval weaponry. Elyan doesn’t work for the museum, but he’s roped in because his specialty is chemistry/materials science. Paleontologist Merlin joins the party because the aliens bear a striking resemblance to Cretaceous pterosaurs. Freya, the museum staff member responsible for sourcing items for collections (I have questions about this job!), fulfills her Lady of the Lake role by sourcing and distributing swords to the knights. 😉 Many other canon characters pop up along the way. (You may also remember a snippet about an OC named Mrs. Nettleburn? She’s Merlin’s landlady who wears a violently floral housecoat and wields a frying pan during suspected break-ins. 🍳)
Meanwhile, the characters start getting their first-life memories back sporadically throughout the story, and they have to separate the truth of their incomplete memories from the distortions of the literary legends. Merlin ends up betraying everyone by siding with the dragons based on his distorted interpretation of those incomplete memories. Arthur refuses to give up on the friend he remembers, and Merlin gets an intensive redemption arc.
The story began as a crack prompt, but it has evolved into a crack-treated-very-seriously novel. 😂 I have about 60k written so far…

Day 4 - What would be your ideas for Sigyn Marvel Comic Reboot?
Like everyone else on here, one where Sigyn isn't a tragic abused wife as some modern media just loveees to turn her into because Loki is a villan! And those people can't love their wives nooo../s 🙄
I want her strong sides to be shown and for her character to develop more than to just be Loki's wife and that's about it! I want to see her relationships and I especially want Narfi and Vali to also have some more greater purpose in media, which is what I've included here!
So here are some of my ideas written into quite the story, because this way is easier to me! Sorry it's long, truly didn't intend it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sigyn is of high status, herself being a princess, but of Vanaheim and the daughter of Freya. Her father is secretly Iwaldi, a dwarf and a very talented blacksmith.
Freya had slept with him to insure she'd have an heir, resulting in a few daughters, who she'd love unconditionally despite hoping for a son. To one day over the throne!
Nanna, Idunn, Syn, Snotra, Var, Sigyn, Sjofn and Lofn were their names respectfully.
But this whole time Freya was actually married to the mysterious god named Odr, but who had neglected her love and would rather focus on traveling the realms than to be with her.
Freya only kept the marriage going for appearance and an old alliances sake.
She didn't care much for Odr because of his lack of interest and instead herself, focused on raising her daughters and kingdom.
A kingdom that would later be put in danger when Asgard threatens with war, after a failed attempt to make an alliance between the two, when Freya refused to share their magical powers with them!
Something the vanir people were very known for.
Freya tries her best to manage and sends her daughters, who were old enough to understand what was going on, to her brother Freyrs realm in alfheim.
There the girls were taught by their uncle and his partner Gerdr everything Freya herself had hoped to guide them through, womanhood.
Meanwhile the queen had to fight against Asgard's army, loosing many warriors in the process and eventually having to give up. Afraid she would loose more of her people!
At this point in time Sigyn and her sisters had grown into adulthood and as a peace offering, Odin forces Freya to make the difficult decision in promising to have some of her daughters get married to the Aesir.
Thinking that, through marriage and the offsprings they'd have, surely Freya wouldn't be able to keep the vanir's magic away from him. But she had plans up her sleeves.
Nanna was the first to marry, ending up with Odin's son Baldr and later having a son named Forseti. The only issue being that Nanna wasn't a sourseress and Freya had lied to Odin.
Resulting in Idunn being the next one to marry, who was actually a sorceress. She gets married to Odin's son Bragi and sadly the aesir were able to obtain Idunn's golden apples of immortality for their own gain, as her domain was over youth.
Because Idunn had acctually trusted the aesir and Odin had used her, she refused to try for children and her husband, Bragi loving her dearly respects that not wanting to try despite his fathers encouragements. That led the hopeful all-father to be enraged.
Feeling humiliated to be tricked by Freya the first time and now having to face stubborness, Odin instead chooses to give away Freya's remaining daughters to his most prized guards, instead of his sons.
One being a brave and young solider named Theoric, who Sigyn was soon to marry.
Sigyn was very much like her father, a hard worker with muscles of steel! She was passionate when it came to fighting techniques rather than magical skills.
So when Odin demanded that she and the rest of her sisters, who were not already sorceresses to join his wife Frigga's court and learn it, Sigyn was quite offended by it.
She wanted to become a Valkyrie more than anything, knowing that those positions were possible to join, but Odin refused to hear her out. Things only got worse when a certain prince started to play tricks on her as his adoptive mother taught the young ladies magic. It was Loki, the trickster god!
Sigyn never knew why she out of everyone in Frigga's court had to be the target. When little did she know Loki was very much intrigued by her, in all the ways.
They'd started off as enemies at first, like most because of Loki's behavior. But eventually through bonding over their strange family drama and similar lives, became pretty good friends!
Sadly, Loki had developed feelings for Sigyn, knowing from the very begging she would be eventually married off to Theoric. So he decided to not confess his feelings and instead ran off from Asgard.
Sigyn was understandably very confused and upset over her only friends disappearance and this actually affected her marriage, but decided to give Theoric a chance either way and bond like she had with Loki.
Apparently it payed off quite a bit as being a respected solider did not only get Sigyn place with the Valkyries but her and Theoric had something I'm common!!
So far life was getting better again and Sigyn's marriage was nothing but platonic, something she had made sure to voice very early on. Theoric being the good man he was obviously respected that and was eventually called out to battle.
Despite never loving Theoric that way, Sigyn did find herself quite nervous about what would happen to him and even had to admit she might've catched feelings for him.
But right when things only seemed to blossom for her, Theoric returns home and acts very odd from his usual happy self. Until it all makes sense when Loki reveals it was him the whole time, Sigyn was not only outraged at this but had so many questions.
And Loki would happily provide answers for her and fill on on everything she had been missing out on.
Loki had been so jealous he ran away and was planning on a way to actually confess to Sigyn despite her marriage. Luckily enough for him thought, he didn't even have to play a part in Theoric's sudden death as he had fallen in battle by his own doing.
Loki had only watched from afar.
After that Loki felt guilty, wishing he could've done something even if it would've been a very suspicious thing for him to do, considering he is a missing prince.
So he found comfort in one of the women warriors there, who had fought against Asgards army. Her name being Angrboda, someone he knew his adoptive family would never approve off and had children with her very recently.
But now people had seen Loki in Jotunheim with his little family, and it had been reported back to Odin in Asgard.
Loki admits he was selfish and apologized for not revealing himself sooner!
This would still leave Sigyn with a few questions though, had she gotten to know the real Theoric before his death or had that been Loki all along?
Tumblr media
After taking these news surprisingly well and not freaking out as much as she, herself would've thought! Sigyn was unsure how to proceed and grieve, giving Loki his chance to rekindle their relationship.
He offers Sigyn the comfort she needs until she is ready to get back on her feet, never pushing to ask if she felt the same feelings towards him, after having confessed his attraction.
Once Sigyn feels better mentally, she let's the news of Theoric's death be known and his funeral is held. After even more support from her mother and sisters, Sigyn feels hopeful and Incuraged Loki to stop pretending and return to Asgard officially, with his new family!
Despite what Odin would think, because Sigyn wanted to see and meet them, she wanted to show how much she cared for them! Like Loki had cared her.
Loki was hesitant at first but tries his best and makes his grand return, proving to Odin that the news he had heard were true, Loki had made himself a family in Jotunheim.
This was the worst choice no one could've predicted, not even Loki and Sigyn. The next thing they knew, Angrboda was brought to Asgard with their children and treated horribly. When all Angrboda wanted was to fit in with the rest of the aesir gods.
Sigyn when she first saw Angrboda, knew she had to do everyhing in her power to protect that woman and her unique children.
Sigyn offers her home to be the familes as well and makes sure to care for Angrboda and their children daily! Quickly adapting to the fact that Hel needed constant skincare because of her skin condition that caused it to rot in certain places.
While two of their sons, Fenrir and Jormungandr were shapeshifters, meaning they took on other forms that weren't humanoid. Specifically a wolf and a snake.
Sigyn wanted nothing more than for them to feel as welcomed by her as possible, especially after what they had gone through to get to Asgard, and In return Angrboda gave something back. Forever grateful!
She reveals she was once a powerful witch and as a thank you offers to teach Sigyn magic, even more beyond what Frigga and the vanir was able to teach her.
This was the start of yet another blossoming relationship as Angrboda and Sigyn quickly bonded through the magic, the fact they both loved fighting in battles and hated Odin and the aesir for manipulating their people!
Now Sigyn wasn't only strong physically but even more skilled in magic. Able to heal fallen soldiers and help her fellow Valkyrie sisters on the battlefield! She even started to develop romantic feelings for both Angrboda and Loki herself.
Sadly happiness was never meant to last for them as Odin, soon reveals the nightmares that had been tormenting him, as well as seeing prophecies about Loki's children.
They were destined to destroy everything Odin had worked for, so to prevent this he tore apart the family. No matter how much Loki and Sigyn tried to comfort Angrboda, the poor anxious woman refused to let the old man win, only to be caught while trying to escape Asgard later that night.
Her children are forcefully taken away in the act and Angrboda puts up a fight, a battle to the death which results in her murder.
The giantess had fought as bravely as she did back when Loki had first seen her, refusing to give up on what she held so dear.
Not only was Loki heartbroken once he heard about the news, but so was Sigyn..demanding that they pay for what they did by at least, letting Loki keep something from this traumatic experience!
Odin taking slight pity on his adoptive son, still blamed Loki for everything that had lead up to this point. But either way was allowed to keep Hel, as the girl wouldn't be able to survive in her frail sickly state.
Yet took care of Fenrir and Jormungandr, their fates unknown to the remaining family.
Tumblr media
Years later after grieving over their loss of Angrboda, Fenrir and Jormungandr. Loki and Sigyn while raising Hel together finally agreed to start a relationship, which ended up going so well for them that they tied the knot and got married not long after!
A few years later when Sigyn found out she was pregnant, she decided to resign as a Valkyrie after many eons of her service.
Wanting to focus on her growing family instead, especially since Loki had grown nervous for what could happen to their offspring as well. Would Odin take them?
Eventually after a lot of comforting, convincing and patience. Sigyn gave birth to two healthy twin boys that they named Narfi and Nari. Loki could never have been prouder and Hel, quickly adjusted to her new brothers entering her life.
Once Freya heard the news of her new grandsons, the old queen was overjoyed. In the past, when Forseti had been first born, at freya's request she asks Baldr and Nanna for permission to make him be the heir to her throne of vanaheim.
But Odin not wanting his perfect sons child to leave Asgard, refused to let the couple decide. Causing Freya to grow hopeless for her kingdoms future, as none of her daughters had mothered any children.
But now that Sigyn finally had, having twin sons! Freya felt like it was a blessing. Even if she didnt like Loki for his reputation, a part of her was thankful Sigyn had chosen Loki out of all, since Odin cared less about him and wouldn't suspect her to go for their children, to help her kingdom grow.
When reuniting with Sigyn, Freya asks to have one of her sons one day take over her throne and happily Sigyn and Loki both agree that it should happen, but that they should revisit this topic in the near future!
Over the years, as their children grew so did their personalites! Hel became a well behaved young lady but one to not be taking anything from anyone, she knew what she wanted..to be above Odin so she could decide things. So she could have control!
Vali was always a hyper and extroverted kid and showed excellent skill in magic, often trying to shape shift or create clones like Loki would. He admired his father!
Narfi unlike his brother was more calm and Introverted and skilled in magic as well, but wanting to be like his mother and learn how to heal and help people!
But suddenly a heartbreaking decision was made and Hel was sent off by to nifleheim once she was old enough to care for herself by Odin.
The young woman would rename the realm helheim, in her imagine and becomes a successful queen over the frozen and dead.
It was a difficult departure for all of them, but especially for the twins and Hel, as they were all very close and Hel still traumatized from the night her mother was killed.
Having to be reminded the same thing to when Odin had ordered Hel to leave, triggered Loki greatly and he wanted vengeance upon the man he once called father. He wanted to take something he held dear as well!
So for the first time in a long time he starts planning behind everyone's backs, even Sigyn's to insure she couldn't stop him.
So that she didn't have to worry about him! But the crime he would commit, causing Baldr's blind brother Hodr, to kill Baldr with a mistletoe arrow, after the beloved god also started to suffer from nightmares of his own death and prophecy.
