i think it would be very easy to write shigure kira off as just another character who uses a bright and happy face to hide that they're actually miserable but i think that would be simply. incorrect?

because look. kira definitely ISN'T completely devoid of troubles. quite the opposite! it's been what. 17, 18 years? since the second eruption? 18 years of almost non-stop wandering between universes, with only an alien bearing your dead friend's face and name as company. 18 years of carefully trying [and failing] to finally get over your biggest shortcoming to realize your lifelong dream. and we know that she never quite got over what happened to squad snowwolf, which is very understandable! very human! she's the last one standing, she, who got into schicksal by accident. that is not something you simply Get Over, and especially not if you're an interuniversal traveller/idol/valkyrie.

but what would be incorrect about assuming that, by extension of the above, her idol personality is just a shell, is that. despite it all, kira is a happy person. her kindness, and motivation, the way she pulls herself and everyone around her up when they fall, and finds the best in anyone she meets is all real. because yeah, squad snowwolf is gone, never to be brought back- but she isn't! she survived, and she will continue to do so.

kira's stage persona may be an overexaggerated version of her true self, yes, but it is a version of her true self.
