The helmet mod I made myself. I made the mod as a copy of the in game Boba Fett helm but I retextured it and made another for children. I had another that was a copy of another mod that was the Sabine Wren helmet from that SW mobile game and made a handful of retextured of that too. I don't even know if I still have the files for it tbh

so, a common shorthand people use when coloring philip’s skin is making him completely gray (as seen in the dating sim), and a big reason for this is because it’s really hard to tell exactly what is going on with his skin in-game (that is, in his default cosmetic) due to the dark, gloomy lighting. because of this, i decided to do some digging & put together a coloring guide that will hopefully help folks who struggle to paint philip (like me, before i made this lmao). i would like to emphasize that this isn’t a be-all-end-all guide to philip’s design/color palette, and that you may still take as many creative liberties as you’d like when drawing/painting him (though i will say that if you aren’t used to painting darker skin tones, i highly recommend using tutorials & reference when painting, especially under harsh, dramatic, or unnatural light sources, so you don’t risk making your characters look washed-out, in general!).

so to start, we’re going to answer the big question: what is philip’s true skin tone (i.e. the skin tone he most likely had before he was turned into the wraith)? well, the only cosmetic so far where his human skin tone can be easily seen in-game, is his mangled wrecker cosmetic.

artstation, which is where i get the majority of my philip references, has this nifty tool called the marmoset viewer, which allows 3D artists to show the full scope of their work. for this guide we will be looking at the models created by Alexander Gonzalez (the mangled wrecker skin) & Damien Devaux (wraith's original model).

SO, using the marmoset viewer, we're able to see all the layers that go into the 3D model. one of these layers is the "albedo" layer, which is primarily used to determine which surfaces will reflect the most light on the model. however, i've found that it's a really good reference point for determining the "flats" of philip's color palette, because we're able to see his model's colors without the interference of light.

with this in mind, we can gauge what philip's true skin tone is (or most likely is).

there are likely hue inconsistencies between cosmetics due to different artists at the helm, but overall we can confirm two things that are consistent when his true skin tone is present across cosmetics: 1) he's dark-skinned and 2) he has reddish undertones.

so, let's move on to his original design. initially, when using the marmoset viewer, he appears pretty much as he does in-game, with most of his colors obscured by the dark (which is entirely fitting, considering his gimmick). it's very difficult to tell where his natural skin ends and his more lichenous growths begin, as well as the mud & paint he seems to use to create a literal layer of separation between himself and his humanity (GOD i fucking love his design).

BUT, thanks to the albedo layer, we can see the separation between his skin & other materials much more clearly.

so, contrary to popular belief, his face & body are not entirely gray, and in fact huge portions of his arms & legs show his true skin tone, as well as the bottom part of his face. we can see how much of him is actually covered in mud & paint, as well.

some additional details to note: 1) he does indeed have branches growing out of his head, and their natural color is closer to brown than gray. 2) the right side of his body seems more heavily scarred than his left. this can especially be seen in his arms (his right forearm is the most heavily scarred, considering it's the arm he held out to protect himself in his tome cutscene). 3) it's unclear if the dots speckled on his arms are lichenous or if they're just the result of extremely dry skin. in any case, i can't imagine moisturizing is much of a priority in the fog lmao. 4) this is mostly head-canon, but the mud covering his body seems to follow a pattern... that being where his burn scars would otherwise be visible on his skin, which says something interesting about how he may feel about them.

so that's all i've got so far lmao. if anyone has anything to add, please do! i hope this helps some ppl at least a little. :3c

Somehow I can see Travis becoming a really successful actor after he retires surpassing Joe.

well I think they’d be into different metrics of success lol and this is a weird take for me because I hate comparing people who want different things. Joe wants to be Cilian Murphy for sure. Travis would - if he does take it up - want to be the Rock or John Cena. The Rock isn’t more successful than Cilian because they’re trying for completely different things?

This applies to most careers lol and I’m not gonna try use a real life example but I’ll demonstrate it using The Sims. In The Sims 4 most careers split right and you choose what you want to be. Reaching Level 10 in your career doesn’t mean you earn Level 10 on another career actually but you still reached Level 10 (or Level 5 if you pick a part time career or whatever). You also have to split and do whatever career you want to get to Level 10 like say an Entertainer has to decide between musician and comedian and both are entertaining and you have skills in both but idk you wanted different things. You can’t compare people who want different things.

If Travis does artsy movies, I really doubt he’ll do well because he’s too Travis all the time. I watched his SNL and he’s likable and funny and a good sport and reminded me of the John Cena episode when I watched it also but he’s like yk not a great actor. That doesn’t mean he can’t be a John Cena or The Rock.

If Joe went on SNL, I said this many times before, he’d be actively terrible. He can’t do it because of Taylor for the next 10 years at least but even if he did it’d be like a lot of the Brits (maybe even Felicity Jones episode level bad) where you can see the host just isn’t getting it. They’re not into it and it’s not that funny when they just don’t get it idk. Felicity Jones has an Academy Award btw but like she’s yk not good at promo or SNL things and certainly can’t helm a franchise like say The Rock can.
