A/n: This chapter takes place a couple months before the epilogue in TBOSAS occurs.

“That’s all for today. If you have questions for me, stay behind and ask away. Otherwise, you are dismissed.”
Bellova gathered her books and pens, tucking them safely into her leather school bag. She nodded politely at Professor Bingley before briskly exiting the lecture hall. It was finally lunchtime, and she was positively famished, for she hadn’t had time to eat a proper breakfast. She had gotten accustomed to sleeping in over the summer break. By the time her maid woke her up for her first day of University, she only had an hour to prepare for her first class.
Over the summer, she had officially decided to pursue a career in law. Her father assured her that it was a perfect fit, saying that her academic strengths and combative attitude would make her unstoppable in the field. The idea of creating laws for the entirety of the Capitol, or even all of Panem one day, was exhilarating to her. She knew she could make the country thousands of times better if she was given the chance.
Despite only having attended three classes so far, Bellova loved being a University student. It was much more elite than the Academy, the professors were better, and there was no uniform. She found the last aspect particularly exciting, enjoying the looks of envy and adoration she had received as she walked down the halls for the first time.
Her social life had blossomed greatly in the span of just a few months. It was solid during her Academy days, as she was one of the most popular students. But since enrolling in the University, she had gained several new companions. She still talked to some of her old friends, like Lysistrata and Persephone. She even occasionally went on dates, for she was asked out left-and-right by men and women alike. Most of them she turned down, but for those who seemed promising, she accepted their invitations. However, none of them felt like the perfect match. She didn’t let that affect her, though.
Her education was her top priority.
She saw Persephone Price and one of her new friends, Kallista Philo, waiting for her outside of the dining hall. Ignoring the lingering stairs of some of the people passing by, she approached them quickly.
“Hello,” she said, smiling brightly. “How are you both feeling? The first day of University treating you well?”
Persephone nodded. “I love it here already. I can’t wait to start working with other people who have the same major as me.”
Kallista, who was a year older than Persephone and Bellova, gave them both an affectionate grin. “You both will excel in your fields, I’m positive. As long as you always try your hardest, the professors will do anything in their power to help you achieve your dream career.”
“Good to know,” Bellova said. “Now, shall we get lunch? I’m practically dying of starvation.”
They made their way through the dining hall, sitting at their usual table in the corner of the room. They discussed a variety of topics, including Kallista’s brother’s annoying fiancée and Persephone’s new pet dove.
Persephone then asked how Bellova’s date with Caesarus Nottingham went.
Bellova winced. “It was incredibly disappointing. He talked about nothing but his mediocre accomplishments and his…bedroom skills while we ate dinner. It completely ruined my appetite.”
Kallista gagged. “Ugh. That sounds awful.”
“Oh, it was. I was tempted to abandon the date all together to humiliate him, but I was able to embarrass him enough when he leaned in for a kiss and I stepped away. I left before he could say another word.”
The girls laughed. Bellova was ruthless when it came to almost everything, including those she went on dates with.
“Miss Reginelle.”
A young man wearing a University identification badge approached the table. Bellova looked up from her food.
“Yes?”
“Dr. Gaul wants to see you in her lab. She said it had to do with…reincarnation.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“You wanted to see me?”
The doctor grinned, setting down her surgical scissors. “Ah yes, Miss Reginelle. Come, my dear. I wanted to ask your opinion on these new mutations I’m developing.”
Bellova sat down next to Dr. Gaul on a lab stool. The older woman set a small glass terrarium in front of them. Inside housed what looked like normal flowers.
“Don’t let the pretty colors fool you,” Dr. Gaul said. “They can bite as lethally as the most dangerous snakes.”
Bellova briefly thought about the snakes that she had sent into the arena a year prior. The memory was unpleasant, not because of the mutts, but because of who she associated them with.
“That’s amazing,” Bellova said. “I assume these are for this year’s Games?”
She nodded. “Indeed. And, I plan on altering them so they regrow within mere minutes if they are snipped.”
“Reincarnation…” Bellova muttered.
“Precisely.” Dr. Gaul flashed her a twisted smile. “Speaking of that, I have some other news for you.”
Bellova cocked her head. “What is it?”
“A certain young Mr. Snow has returned to the Capitol.”
Bellova briefly contemplated jumping into Dr. Gaul’s pool of sea serpents. “You’re fucking kidding.”
Dr. Gaul laughed. “I am not, Miss Reginelle.”
“Why? How? I thought he was sentenced to be a peacekeeper for the next twenty years?”
“He was. But I negotiated for him to return. He has far too much potential to be wasted in District 12. He returned less than a week ago, and is set to study under me for the rest of his time at the University.”
“Dr. Gaul,” Bellova said, trying her hardest not to scream. “He disgraced himself by cheating in the Games - in your Games. Why would you forgive such a thing?”
“Mr. Snow’s time in the districts has…transformed him. He has finally opened his eyes to the real nature of this world, and understands why our country operates the way it does.”
Bellova felt her jaw clench. “I see.”
Dr. Gaul grabbed a pair of tweezers and dropped a small cricket into the glass enclosure that housed the flowers mutation. The flower immediately lunged towards the insect, devouring it in seconds.
“Do you need anything else, Dr. Gaul?” Bellova asked. “My next class begins soon.”
She shook her head. “That is all. Run along, my dear. And if you see Mr. Snow, do give him a warm welcome home.”
Forcing a smile, Bellova nodded and walked out of the lab.
After leaving the building, she let out a frustrated snarl. Just a few weeks after Snow’s departure, she had realized she was beyond grateful that he was no longer in her life. She no longer had to worry about constantly one-upping him, she could just focus on herself and her happiness.
But now, he was back.
Back to continue tormenting her.
Was that his only life goal? To make her existence a living hell?
‘Stop that,’ she chided herself. ‘You can’t let his presence affect you anymore. You’re a new woman now. A woman that holds too much power and status to give in to silly things like emotions.’
Of course, the idea of messing with Coriolanus again was tempting. She could expose several of his actions that would immediately tarnish any of his career plans.
But it was wisest to keep that information to herself.
For now, anyway.
Bellova smiled to herself. Instead of listening to Dr. Gaul’s suggestion to give Snow a “warm welcome”, she would give him the coldest shoulder possible. She would avoid him at all costs.
He was no longer worthy of her attention.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Bellova! Oh, it’s so nice to see you, dear!”
Bellova whirled around, about to chew out wherever was bothering her. She was not in the mood to socialize.
She refrained from doing so when she recognized the person approaching her was Mrs. Plinth, dressed in all black. This was uncharacteristic of her, as she usually donned bright colors.
“Mrs. Plinth,” she greeted the older woman politely, despite wanting to tell her to leave her alone. She had decided to stop by a bakery on her way home from the University to grab a fresh pastry. She had hoped that it would lighten her mood after the unpleasant news she discovered earlier. She had not expected to run into “Ma” Plinth.
She didn’t really have anything against her, but she was still district in Bellova’s eyes. The same way her son was. She liked Sejanus most of the time, unless he was spouting on a useless tirade about the unfairness of the Capitol. But he was serving time as a Peacekeeper in 12. She had heard this from Clemensia, who heard it from Strabo Plinth himself.
Mrs. Plinth looked her up and down, and her eyes began to fill with tears.
“Are you alright?” Bellova asked, putting a hand on her shoulder.
She dabbed at her eyes with a red handkerchief, sniffling quietly. “You have grown into such a fine young woman. Ever since my family moved to the Capitol, my Sejanus adored you. He always referred to you as intelligent, and beautiful, and…” She trailed off, beginning to cry harder.
Bellova did her best not to appear uncomfortable. She didn’t like having to comfort people, it simply wasn’t in her nature. After a tense moment of silence, she asked, “Mrs. Plinth, what’s going on? Did something happen to Sejanus?”
Mrs. Plinth’s eyes widened slightly. “Has nobody told you yet?”
“Told me what?”
“H-he’s dead. Hanged in District 12 for treason against the Capitol.”
Bellova’s head spun.
The heir to the Plinth fortune, dead.
Leaving behind two vulnerable, grieving parents.
“What exactly was he accused of?” Bellova asked softly.
“I’m not sure. I just know that someone turned him in for traitorous conspiring. Someone who probably pretended to Sejanus’s friend just to stab him in the back,” Mrs. Plinth sobbed. “My poor boy…he deserved to die of old age after a long, prosperous life. Not in the gallows.”
Bellova pulled the hysterical woman into an awkward hug. “I’m so sorry for your loss, Mrs. Plinth. If you need anything, just call, and I’ll do what I can.”
The woman nodded. “Thank you, Bellova. Any friend of Sejanus is a friend to my family. Coriolanus, Sejanus’s best friend, has been such a great source of comfort to us. My husband formally declared him our heir just yesterday.”
Bellova barely held back a noise of disgust.
“That’s…very kind of you,” she said instead.
After Mrs. Plinth had left with a basket full of fresh bread, Bellova sat down at a small table, processing this new information.
Sejanus was dead. And he had been betrayed.
Betrayed by someone he called a friend.
And she knew exactly who had sent him to the gallows. Undoubtedly, he did it for his own personal benefit. And now he had taken Sejanus’s place as the heir to the massive Plinth fortune.
He really was pathetic.
As twisted as it sounded, Bellova was glad she was informed of Sejanus’s execution and why it had come about.
It was one more thing to add to her list of blackmail against Coriolanus Snow.

“Why do I even have to go to this thing?” you complain, your hand fluffing your hair a little.
You know it’s a big deal - like, it isn’t every day that your older sister gets engaged, but still… you don’t see why you had to go. You don’t like Nina, not really, and, have no interest in meeting her latest ‘fiancé’. You don’t see the point. She’s flighty, never stays with one man for very long and, even if she’s engaged to the latest one, you honestly doubt it’ll last. She’s famed for her wandering eye and, is definitely sure to get bored soon enough.
“Because she is your sister,” your dad says matter of factly, his hands shepherding you.
“And? We all know she’ll get bored in a few weeks and call her ‘wedding’ off,” you remark, making your way through the swanky hotel lobby. It’s Nina’s trademark, flashy parties celebrating stupid little things, and you’re honestly getting more and more bored of them.
Since you had turned 18 years previous, she’d been engaged to three different men, something which irked you. You’d had just one boyfriend in those three years, it hardly seems fair that your sister had three whole different fiancés.
“Quit whining, at least we get a free meal,” your little brother muses with a laugh.
You offer him a little glare before you fix a smile on your face, watching as Nina skitters towards you, her face held in her perfect smile. “I’m so glad that you guys could make it,” she smiles.
“Oh, we wouldn’t have missed it for the world, darling,” your mother coos, leaning across to kiss her eldest daughter on the cheek. Nina flashes you all another smile before her name is called, something which makes her turn away for a second.
“You guys should mingle,” she quips over her shoulder. You want to roll your eyes, but refrain, noting the stern stare that your father has fixed on you. “I’ll try and catch up with you later.” She smiles before skittering away.
You glare after your sister a little before your brother takes your arm, leading you towards the buffet table.
“She’s so fake it’s unreal,” you murmur over the loud music as you watch him collect a plate, helping himself to the fancy buffet that had been set up.
“You’re acting like you are surprised,” he quips, his mouth half full of shrimp.
“I’m not surprised, I’m just sick of playing the supportive sister. I feel for the poor guy who proposed to her.”
Nina has a reputation; she falls in love too quickly and then breaks hearts, something which makes you feel bad because, yet another man has offered his heart up to her and, he’s sure to go the same way as the rest, shipped off before the wedding day even dawned.
“Did we even meet this one?” your brother asks, placing yet more food onto his plate.
You shake your head. “I don’t think so, but I’m sure he doesn’t deserve what she’s bound to do. She has a habit of ruining good men,” you say softly. Your brother nods in agreement before he spots an empty table, leading you towards it.
Tumblr media
“Bro, why on earth are you marrying her?” Seungcheol poses, an amused smile playing on his lips.
Jeonghan sips on his drink and offers a meek shrug, not quite sure how to respond. He knows it’s sudden; his engagement to his girlfriend, but he isn’t quite sure how it’d come about. One moment they’d been dating, the next, Nina had a ring sat on her finger and was telling anyone and, everyone that she’s to be his wife.
If he’s being honest, he isn’t upset by it, he loves Nina but… For some reason, it just seems a little sudden to him. They haven’t been together long and, even though he knows he loves her, he isn’t entirely certain he wants to get married to her.
“Judging by the look on his face, I don’t think even he knows,” Seokmin pokes, a smile etched onto his face.
Jeonghan sneers a little before he moves away, spotting a spare seat at a table. He knows his friends are curious, everything’s happened a little too quickly, but he’s so sick of being asked questions. He’s engaged to Nina, what else really needed to be said?
“Excuse me, that’s my seat.”
Jeonghan’s head wheels around at the sound of the timid voice. It’s soft, kind, and he’s entranced by the sound of it.
“I’m sorry,” he murmurs, standing up once more. “I thought it was vacant.”
You spare him a shake of your head. “My brother sent me to the bar. I don’t know where he is now,” you say, your eyes scanning the other empty seat. Jeonghan eyes it too before he sits down in it, offering you the other seat. You smile at him and sit down, pushing some of your hair away from your eyes.
“I’m Jeonghan,” he quips.
“Y/N,” you return.
He nods his head a little before he eyes the spare champagne flute in your hand. “Do you mind if I take it?”
You shake your head, extending the glass to him. You’d intended to give it to your brother, but he was nowhere to be seen.
“Are you looking for someone?” the cute boy asks as he takes the glass from your hand, his soft fingers purposely brushing over yours.
“My brother, he promised he’d chill with me. I’m not one for making small talk with strangers.”
Jeonghan spares a little laugh. “You seem to be doing it pretty well with me. I must be special,” he teases. You offer him a playful look as you smile, biting your lip a little.
He offers you a kind smile, sipping his drink before questioning, “So how do you know the bride-to-be?”
You roll your eyes. “Unfortunately, that is my sister.”
He swallows a little, amazed that the timid girl ahead of him could be related to his rather outspoken fiancée. You were complete, polar opposites.
“Unfortunately?” he asks.
You nod your head. “She’s got a little bit of a reputation. I feel so bad for the fool who dared to put a ring on it.”
His face flicks a little with a mix of emotions as he awkwardly sips his drink once more.
Noting the strange expression, you sigh. “You’re him aren’t you?”
He looks up at you, nodding his head before quoting your rather rude statement, “I’m the fool who put a ring on it.”
Tumblr media
“Fuck, I am an idiot,” you huff as you fall into the seat beside your brother, Jay, your hands hiding your face.
He offers you a look. “I know that, but what makes you say it?” he teases.
You roll your eyes a little. You’re mortified, you can’t believe how dismissive you’ve been in front of Jeonghan, and you know you have to make it right. There’s the smallest chance that the gorgeous man really was the one for your sister and, that he really could become your brother in law.
“I… just met Jeonghan,” you mutter, your voice soft and, timid in tone.
“And that makes you an idiot why?” he quips, cocking an eyebrow. “I thought meeting the latest victim was the idea of this party?”
“It is, but I just inadvertently told him that Nina has a reputation,” you announce. Jay’s mouth forms a small ’o’ before he lets out a little laugh, amused by your embarrassment. He knows that you don’t like your sister, she’s far too selfish for your own good, but he also knows that you still love her for some odd reason, evil or not, you’d never do anything to deliberately sabotage her.
“She’s so going to kill you,” he chuckles, stuffing yet another piece of food into his mouth.
Rolling your eyes, you groan before ranting, “It’s not like I meant to bad mouth her to him, I was just venting. How the fuck could I know the handsome guy I was talking to was her latest fiancé?”
“Handsome? I’m honored.” Your body stiffens as the voice enters your ears.
Jay, who’s been chewing on yet another piece of prawn, pauses for a moment, his eyes widening at the sight of the idol who stands behind you.
You shake your head at your brother before you turn to face Jeonghan, your entire body focussing on keeping the blush from your cheeks.
“Fuck, I thought I’d embarrassed myself enough for one night.”
Jeonghan offers you a melodic laugh and a soft smile. “You ran off so fast earlier I never got a chance to tell you that it didn’t matter.”
He’s not an idiot, he obviously knows all about your sister’s past, but from his point of view, you’d never given him the chance to tell you that as you bolted as soon as the realisation hit you.
“You know?” you ask softly.
He nods. “Nina’s never exactly been discrete,”
It’s true, she was forever in the tabloids and she’d never made much of a secret of her past.
You nod in agreement. “I’m still so sorry for what I said. I’m sure that you’re the right man for my sister,” you muse, forcing all of your enthusiasm into your words but, you don’t believe it of course. Sadly, Jeonghan is just another one in a very long line, but you want to pretend, at least for his sake.
He offers you a soft smile before he hears Nina’s voice, beckoning him to her side. “I should go,” he smiles, his thumb jutting back over his shoulder.
You nod before shooting him a smile. He seems cute, you think to yourself. You really like talking to him, he’s a little quirky, and very friendly, but you also know better than to cross your sister.
“If you’re still around a bit later, we should grab a drink.”
You cock an eyebrow.
“What?” he chuckles before teasing, “Can’t a man get to know his future sister-in-law?”
You stiffen a little at the mention of the words, feeling uncomfortable with the idea of being his sister-in-law, but you‘re not about to let it show. When it’s all said and done, you didn’t know Jeonghan, for all you know he could have been the type to rat you out to your sister.
“If I am around,” you say. He offers you another smile before he walks away.
“You need to nip that in the bud,” you brother tells you, snapping you out of your little daydream. You’ve been staring after Jeonghan and turn, offering your brother a confused look.
“You think I’ve never seen the googly eyes before Y/N?” he scoffs as your cheeks redden. “He’s her fiancé, you really need to get a grip,” he notes before he moves away.
Tumblr media
“So how about that drink?”
You jump at the sound of Jeonghan’s voice. You’ve been avoiding him of course, your brother’s warning still ringing in your ears, but clearly you haven’t done the best job. In the large ballroom, Jeonghan has still managed to pick you out, even despite your best efforts at hiding.
“Uh I d-don’t think that’s such a good idea,” you stutter, your eyes fixed anywhere but his.
“And why not?” he asks.
You shake your head a little. “Because it’s getting a little late and I… um, I really need to be on my way,” you lie. You had nowhere to be, you just didn’t want to be around him. Jay was right, you had been making googly eyes, and you didn’t want to get caught. Your sister would never forgive you for looking at him in that way.
“That’s funny,” he quips, his eyebrow slightly raised.
“Why?” you return, still doing anything possible to not make eye contact with him, knowing you’ll fold on the spot.
“I just had a conversation with your parents and they said you were staying here for the night,” he says with a little smirk causing your face to redden as you internally curse your parents. “Are you trying to avoid me or something?” he asks, an earnest look appearing on his features.
You admire the expression for a few seconds, it makes him look even more handsome, not that it’s even possible. He’s on the verge of being god-like at this point and, you can’t stop admiring him.
“Y/N, if I have done anything to upset you-”
You quickly shake your head, cutting him off mid-sentence. “It isn’t you…”
“Then why can’t we get a drink? You’re the one member of your family that hasn’t gawked at me like I’m some form of alien,” he complains.
You can see in his eyes that he thinks he’s made a friend in you and really wants to spend more time with you. For him, it’s like you’re a breath of fresh air in comparison to your parents and siblings.
You want to shake your head, to walk in the opposite direction and not look back, but the look on his face is ridiculous. He looks like a wounded fucking puppy and there’s no turning him down.
“Fine, but just one. I don’t want Nina getting the wrong idea,” you quip, only half joking.
His face splits into a smile. “Great!” he beams, his hand wrapping around your wrist. You flash an awkward smile before following along. Your brother was right, you did need to get a grip.
Tumblr media
“Please, don’t make me go,” you complain as you move to tie the laces of your shoes. To be honest, you’d seen it coming, your sister was so insistent on rubbing every little thing in your face, but you hadn’t expected your parents to jump in and force you into yet another social occasion with her and Jeonghan.
“You’re her sister Y/N,” your mom mutters, her hand fluffing her hair.
“And? Jay’s her brother, I don’t see him getting ready to go,” you point out, your hand gesturing to your brother who sat on your parents’ couch, a smug smirk fixed on his features.
“Your brother has a date. He and Sua are heading out.”
You offer your brother a glare before you push yourself up. “Fine, but you owe me for this,” you complain.
Your mom rolls her eyes a little before she scans your body, her nose wrinkling a little. “Don’t you think you could dress a little more… I don’t know, feminine?”
You want to roll your eyes, she had never appreciated how you dressed. “Mom, we’re going to a festival, not a fashion shoot. If anything, you are over dressed,” you quip, your own nose wrinkling at your mother’s choice of outfit. She scoffs a little before she makes her way out of the door, you and your dad following along obediently.
The minute you arrive at the venue, you already feel annoyed and completely fed up by your family’s behavior. “So which group is Jeonghan in?” Your mom fawns as she greets Nina, glancing at the different idol groups. You roll your eyes. You don’t see why they had even bothered, it’s painfully obvious that no one other than you has the slightest idea what’s happening, but you know your parents and sister would never admit it. They’re stuck up like that.
“I think he’s in that group,” Nina titters proudly, pointing at Stray Kids, “The ones with the cool outfits.”
You roll your eyes once again. “He is in Seventeen, the ones wearing all black,” you snap, suddenly feeling annoyed as your hand gestures to the group that had just taken to the stage.
“And how do you know? I didn’t think you were a kpop fan,” she hisses, offering you a look.
“I’m not, but I can see Jeonghan from here. He’s wearing black.”
She peeks over the railing at little and flushes, her eyes noticing her fiancé. ”So he is,” she notes.
You offer an insincere smile before you make your way out onto the balcony, taking your seat in amongst the other VIP fans.
“Has she always been so rude?” Nina comments loudly, turning to your parents.
“I bet she’s just jealous,” your dad smiles, his hand settling on her shoulder.
“She has a lot to be jealous of, dear,” your mom adds, which causes you to roll your eyes. Nina smiles at them before her phone buzzes, causing her to leave the venue.
Tumblr media
“I hear your fiancée is in the venue,” Chan notes as the boys change into their stage outfits.
“Yeah,” Jeonghan returns. “She wanted her family to see me perform.” In all honestly though, he knows Nina is merely showing him off, but he really hasn’t had it in him to argue with her. In the nearly two weeks since their engagement party, she’d become so much more clingy and, he’s so sick of fighting with her. He always ends up caving anyway, what’s the point in prolonging the inevitable?
“Does that mean her sister is here?” Soonyoung asks.
“Y/N? I’m not sure,” Jeonghan says, shrugging. Deep inside, he hopes you are, he likes spending time with you, but he also doubts he’ll have the chance. Nina is overly protective and doesn’t like to share him, even if it’s with his friends.
“I think you picked the wrong sister, bro. Y/N is so damn fine.” Joshua chuckles, earning agreements from the others.
“She’s a nice girl, but she’s hardly my type,” Jeonghan returns nonchalantly as he shrugs. He’s lying - you’re more his type than your sister would ever be, but he knows he can’t let on. His friends doesn’t like Nina as it is, any sign of a weakness in their relationship, they’re sure to pounce.
“She may not be your type, but she might be mine,” Wonwoo quips teasingly, earning a low chuckle and a high-five from Joshua. Immediately Jeonghan’s eyes shot up. He knows his friends are ‘joking’, but still the idea that someone else sees something in you makes his blood boil for some reason, and he doesn’t understand why.
“Are you alright there, bro?” Seungcheol asks as he pulls his shirt on. Jeonghan swallows a little and nods his head, forcing a smile.
Tumblr media
“Y/N?”
You turn at the sound of your name and smile, your eyes looking at Jeonghan who wore a confused expression on his handsome features.
“Hey,” you smile, “You were great.”
He returns it softly before he looks around once more, obviously trying to spot Nina who’d promised she would be waiting for him. You note the look on his face and sigh. “She left. Her and my parents got bored.”
“Oh...” he murmurs, ”She said she would be here.”
Your heart shudders at the sad look that he wore on his face. “I’m sure she’ll be next time,” you smile, but Jeonghan shakes his head bitterly.
“I guess I’d convinced myself that she cares. I know she isn’t into our music like that, but I’ve been to every single one of her shoots since we got together, I just… I thought she could suffer through this,” he says frustratingly, running a hand through his damp hair.
You swallow a little before you push yourself up, enveloping him in an awkward half hug. He stiffens a little at the contact before he places his arms around you.
“How soon into the show did she go?” he murmurs as he holds you close to him.
You shift a little and move out of his arms, your eyes peeking up into his. “Do you honestly want to know?” you question. He drops his arms to his side and nods.
“10 minutes. Second song,” you announce softly. He grimaces a little, it was during their new single, Darling.
“For what it is worth, my sister missed out on a great concert. I have never quite seen a rapper like S.Coups,” you say with a surprised expression.
“Why, you’re not a fan?” he pokes playfully.
You shake your head. “I was more into Western music growing up and my dad never let me listen to rap, he said it wasn’t ladylike,” you explain with a laugh, blushing a little.
“Well, you’re grown now, you should listen to our music and come to our shows more often,” he teases, the hurt fading off his face.
“I might just do that,” you tease back, a contagious smile etched onto your face.
“I know the boys would like you, you made quite the impression at the party the other week.”
“Oh? I did notice the stares,” you smirk. “I thought they thought I was lost,” you add, a small laugh escaping your lips.
“No, they think I picked the wrong sister,” he muses. You stiffen a little, your cheeks flushing.
Jeonghan notes the blush and shakes his head, sensing he had overstepped the mark. “I’m so sorry for saying that.”
You shake your head, “It’s nothing. Just a joke between friends right?”
Jeonghan smiles and nods his head. “A joke between friends,” he confirms before his phone buzzes, causing him to excuse himself. You watch him go and sigh.
Friends. That was all you were, just friends.
Tumblr media
“I was thinking a week in Dubai for our honeymoon,” Nina says between mouthfuls of salad, smiling at Jeonghan. She’d been off work for a little while and had decided to surprise him with a visit to the gym quickly followed by a ‘pleasant’ healthy lunch in town.
In all honestly, he didn’t want to go, he was stressed after the double session that his choreographer had forced upon the group, but he also knew better than to turn Nina down. The last time he’d dodged her invite, she’d threatened to leave him, telling him that he needed to prioritize.
“Dubai? I was thinking more of Hawaii,” he returns. Only because he wanted to get out of Asia, to spend a little time in the sun with his new wife, but from the look on her face, he doubts it’s going to happen. She wants Dubai and Nina Y/L/N always gets what she wants. “Dubai sounds wonderful baby, I’ll start looking for flights,” he concedes, forcing a fake smile on his lips.
She spares him a wide grin before her phone buzzes, causing her to look down at it. “Teddy needs me back at the studio,” she mutters, tossing her napkin back onto the table.
“Right now? We’re in the middle of lunch, Nina,” he complains.
She rolls her eyes a little before she pushes herself up, pressing a rather sloppy kiss against his lips. “I need to go Hannie. I’ll make it up to you, I promise,” she says before she scampers away, leaving him sat all alone in the middle of the restaurant.
Jeonghan sighs. He was used to it, she rarely spends any personal time with him, but still it hurts to have her up and leave. He just wanted a moment, a second where she actually seemed to love him like he loved her.
“Alone?” Jeonghan’s ears prick up at the sound of the familiar voice.
“I was having lunch with your sister,” he returns, his face lighting up at the sight of you. He’s in awe - you look so beautiful, your hair is tied back, your beautiful eyes are shining, and the mere sight of you just makes him smile. He has grown a little closer to you since the festival and, he’s so glad he has, you’re such a welcoming change from your sister and her stuck up actress and model friends.
“But let me guess, something came up?” you tease, your body sitting in Nina’s vacant seat.
“How’d you know?” he teases back, his eyes fixed on you.
You offer him a little shrug. “She used to do it to me all of the time, she’d get a text and then she’d up and leave. It stops being surprising after a while.”
Jeonghan nods a little before allowing his eyes to scan the restaurant, looking for the person who appeared to be missing their lunch date.
“I’m here with friends,” you quip as you notice the curious look on his face. “You should come and join us, you look a little lonely over here,” you tease, smiling a little as you move to stand up again. You’d merely been passing and know your friends would get curious if you don’t come back soon.
“Your friends wouldn’t mind?” he asks and you instantly shake your head. “Then I would love to,” he grins brightly, his hands picking up his plate. You giggle a little before you lead him across the restaurant to your friends.
“There you are Y/N, we’d worried you’d gotten lost.”
“I went to the bathroom Minhyuk, not to the Arctic, I think I can remember the way,” you say, poking your tongue out a little.
Minhyuk laughs slightly before he turns his eyes, studying Jeonghan’s slightly awkward frame. “Guys, this is Jeonghan, he’s Nina’s fiancé,” you say as you place his plate ahead of an empty chair.
He offers your friends a weak wave, a little uncomfortable with being the focus of the two pairs of eyes. “You’re the poor guy that’s marrying the evil bitch- I mean witch?” Minhyuk says, his nose wrinkling a little.
You roll your eyes and slap the back of his head, causing him to jerk forwards a little in his seat. “Watch it. She’s still my sister,” you murmur before you move back to you seat.
“Sorry for him, I’m Yeejin,” Yeejin smiles as she glares at her boyfriend.
Jeonghan waves a hand, smiling. “It’s nothing I haven’t heard before.”
“Wait, so you know about Nina and still proposed?” Minhyuk exclaims. Both you and Yeejin glare at him causing Jeonghan to chuckle softly. Your friend is a little outspoken, but you can tell from the way Jeonghan smiles that he likes him, he’s always hated people keeping their thoughts to themselves.
Watching you and your friends, he smiles to himself, glad he’s accepted your offer to join them. He’s thought it’d be awkward, they are your friends after all not his, but he’s come to like Yeejin and Minhyuk, they aren’t quite like his other friends nor are they like Nina’s, they’re funny if a little exuberant.
“I need to visit the little girls’ room. Yeejin?” you muse as you stand from your seat. Yeejin offers a little nod before you move away, leaving Jeonghan with Minhyuk.
“How long have you liked her?”
Jeonghan frowns a little. It’s blunt, rude, but from the look on Minhyuk’s face, he had meant it exactly that way.
“Liked who?” he replies nonchalantly, taking a sip of his drink.
Minhyuk rolls his eyes. “You know who, Y/N. The way you look at her makes it obvious,” he says in a duh tone. Jeonghan’s tanned cheeks flushes a little. In all honestly, he has no idea when it started, in fact, he didn’t even realize he’d been so blatant. “So when did it start?” he pushes.
Jeonghan knows he’d be so good for you - he’s sure, you’re a far better match for him than Nina would ever be. He shifts a little in his seat. “I’m not sure,” he splutters out. He hasn’t intended it to happen, he has never meant to form a crush towards you, but he had and it can’t be shifted.
“But you do like her?”
He swallows a little and nods. He knows it’s fucking stupid, he’s engaged for gods sake, to your sister no less, but he really has come to like you. Very much so and, he can’t help it. There’s just something about you that’s so intoxicating to him.
“Are you going to do anything about it?” he asks, his eyebrow lifted in curiosity.
Jeonghan merely sits muted, not quite sure what to say. He has liked you for quite some time now, but he is your sister’s fiancé after all, he can’t do anything, even if he really wants to. He doesn’t want to cause that sort of problem.
“Just don’t play games with her,” Minhyuk mutters, his brown eyes watching as you make your way back towards them.
“I won’t,” Jeonghan whispers back. “Trust me.”
He offers him a small smile before he stands up, his arm wrapping around Yeejin’s waist.
“It was nice meeting you Jeonghan,” he beams as he extends a hand towards him. Jeonghan shakes it before he and Yeejin walks away, leaving you with only Jeonghan for company.
“I think they liked you,” you comment softly as you move to collect your bag from the back of your chair.
“I liked them,” he returns, his brown eyes staring anywhere but at you.
“Are you okay? You look a little flustered,” you say. He shifts a little but doesn’t respond, only flashing you a weak smile, nodding his head a little. “Do you need a ride?” you ask as you place enough money to cover the check onto the table.
He shakes his head lightly, spluttering out: “I have my car.”
You raise an eyebrow, offering him a slightly sceptical look before you push yourself up on your toes, pressing a kiss to his cheek. Jeonghan’s heart flutters at the feel of your lips against his skin, but manages to stifle the blush that itches to escape.
“Lunch was fun. We should do it again sometime,” you smile before you walk away from him.
He watches after you and swallows, thinking to himself; Why hadn’t I simply met her first?

See A Future | Sandman Imagine
Summary: Morpheus sees his lover interacting with his nephew and can’t help but imagine a future with her.
Pairing: Morpheus x Royalty!Reader
Requested: Yes
Tumblr media
Author’s note: I liked this request but I wanted to add a little something else so I made the reader a Duchess!
You had always lived your life in a golden bubble… at least that’s how you like to call it. Nevertheless, you were always aware of others around you; the way they lived their lives, their happiness, their sadness, their worries.
And although you could not understand other people’s struggles due to your position of privilege, you knew you had every possible resource to help those who needed it.
Your heart was kind and full of love, your humanity impacted those around you in many ways, especially when talking of the only daughter of Duke James Scott.
Being the youngest with eight older, much more erratic, brothers was not easy and you needed time alone to not lose your sanity with all boys around. So while your brothers took care of the financial and lawful issues, you took a stand for the more humanitarian aspects of the realm, fund raising, improvement of the town’s economy, that sort of thing.
Truly, non of the superficial aspects of your obligations as duchess were of any Interest of yours, you hated the hypocrisy, the pretending, the pompous need to brag for status while others fought for a mere loaf of bread.
The only thing you appreciated of your privilege was the choice you consciously made to not be married until you found someone worthy.
It was something you had agreed upon with your family, after all your brothers had a good grasp upon political aspects, there was no need to trade your hand in marriage for your privileges to be ensured.
Years passed and as you reached the age of 20 you became more and more wanted from men, who truly did not understand why you weren’t wed or betrothed already.
You became what they lured for as they could not possess you.
That was until Morpheus came into the picture.
He had been visiting the Waking World somewhat regularly for years now, and you hadn’t met him face to face until you both visited the same orphanage and it was as if something clicked between you.
“Is there anything I can help you with?” You asked the handsome stranger.
“Not at the moment, I am simply offering help if it’s needed, of course” he said
That sparked your interest, you would see men as polished as him at wealthy parties, not orphanages or places that needed it.
For months you kept encountering each other, and with every meeting you grew more and more fond to one another, it didn’t take long for Morpheus to start courting you.
“Thinking about your lover boy?” Your brother Martin whispered in your ear, startling you and getting you out of your own head
“Lord Mighty! Martin!” You exclaimed hitting his head softly as he chuckled, making you grin “He is no boy, he truly is a man, a gentleman. Couldn’t say the same for you”
“Oh gosh you are so in love it is actually sickening, yuck!” He kept on teasing you. But jokes aside, everyone in your family was more than happy to see you finally surrender to love, to experience, to the uncertainty that comes with.
Truthfully, Morpheus wasn’t the first man to court you, but he was the first to succeed and in the blink of an eye you were finally engaged.
Your family loved your fiancé, although they didn’t knew much of him, they knew he was wealthy (which meant he would take good care of you), educated and a genuine gentleman.
Today almost as usual you were dining together, somewhat quietly, you noticed a few glances here and there, which meant your family was planning something.
“So, when are you planning to conceive?” Your mother suddenly dropped the baby bomb on you, making your eyes go wide open.
“Mother!” You hissed at her recklessness while she dismissed you “We have yet to get married and you’re already talking of conception?”
Morpheus held your hand in his beneath the table, soothing you. He knew that talking of children had always made you nervous, as you felt an obvious pressure that of course, your brothers did not have.
Being the only woman in the family meant you were exposed to a different pressure than your brothers were, always held to a more stringent standard.
That was why, Morpheus did not touch the subject with you as he would like, in all honesty, he was dying to be a father, to have a family, no matter if it was big or small, but he did not want to add to the pressure you were already opposed to.
“I must confess that is my fault” Morpheus spoke, breaking the awkwardness of the moment, suddenly all eyes were on him. As the family now was waiting for a more elaborate answer
“How so?” Your father asked
“I have convinced Y/N it is best for us to wait before we talk of children. I apologize you weren’t informed of our choice, but I intend to enjoy our married life before we bring another life into the world”
…and just like that, there was silence.
Your family was speechless at the answer they received, how could they even debate such argument? So, for the rest of the night; the subject was left at a rest, making you feel like you could breathe again
“Thank you, my dear” you whispered in his ear, grateful as he kept your peace, your fiancé simply kissed the palm of your hand, in a loving manner.
Today, you were visiting your brother Atheus in his home, as his lovely wife had given birth to their first born a few weeks ago and it was the first time you and Morpheus would see him.
When you reached their chamber, your sister-in-law Euphemia was humming to her newborn softly, as you and Morpheus entered quietly appreciating the wholesomeness of the view of a mother and their son.
Finally, Euphemia looked up and smiled at the both of you, you took a few steps closer, while Morpheus stayed behind, observing.
Gently, you took the baby from his mother’s arms and inspected his features, immersing yourself in the beauty of the small human you were now holding.
The little one cuddled up in your arms, finding comfort in your warmth, Morpheus was staring deeply at the scene, letting himself be drowned in the beauty of it all, his heartbeats increased, feeling some sort of heat install in his chest.
Of course you had talked about your future countless of times, you were building the rest of your life, but with the image before him, was like having it all, right there.
Even if it was just a second or two, it was then that he truly saw you as mother of his future children, a queen of The Dreaming, all that he envisioned for himself, his kingdom, even the balance of both worlds itself.
While he loved the glimpse of all that you would have, he could not see the time to have it all be real, to spend a lifetime with such selfless and caring yet, strong woman as yourself.
But he knew that in order for that future to exist he would have to be honest of his origins, show his heart, all that he could offer but also the obligations that would come along with that.
Yet, he felt as ready as ever.
Because all the doubts had vanished, he was truly prepared to show himself to you as he was.

pairing: kuai liang x reader
sweet or spicy: sweet
word count: 713
prompt: [  WEDDING  ]: as they prepare to exchange wedding vows, sender gazes at the receiver and says “i love you” for the last time as an unmarried couple.
notes: here's day thirteen! it's our last fluffy prompt and let me tell you i was looking so forward to this one bc i love kuai liang so much <3
Tumblr media
he truly never thought this day would come. kuai liang had always been so consumed by duty, his desire to work hard to protect earthrealm and represent his clan, that he never even considered that one day he would be married. but there he was, in his golden ma gua adorned with an ornate dragon pattern, standing across from you.
you were breathtaking in your fiery red and gold cheongsam, the golden thread weaving an intricate phoenix pattern along the fabric. there were white flowers in your hair, and everything about you looked soft. kuai liang could hardly believe his eyes as he gazed at you, and he could feel his heart pounding in his chest. as he gazed into your eyes, all of the happy memories he’d made with you came flooding back, nearly overwhelming him.
he thought back to when you first met, how you had him tackled and pinned after he and his brothers ‘attacked’ madam bo’s restaurant. of course, you now knew it was nothing but an act, but in the moment, he was convinced that he was too dazed by your beauty to move a muscle.
his thoughts wandered to your first date, a walk through the wu shi gardens as the new champions trained to try and best the others. you had no interest in the tournament, all you wanted was to get to know this handsome stranger.
he thought back to his proposal, how it came mere hours after the attack on titan shang tsung’s forces. with every step climbed, he thought he might never see you again, and he had vowed to ask for your hand in marriage the moment he returned. he couldn’t bear to imagine a world where he didn’t have you in his arms. the very thought made him feel ill, and he knew what he had to do to change that.
now, there you were, as vibrant as ever, holding his hands as you prepared to exchange vows, and then your rings. the way the sun cast a glow on you was ethereal, and it was like he was gazing at an angel. you were going to be his, for the rest of your lives, and it was exciting. he knew he was the luckiest man alive, and he would shout his love for you from the rooftops if he had to. the whole world, and all of outworld, had to know how much he loved you. how much he cared, how far he was willing to go to keep you safe. that if any harm were to come to you, he would not rest until cities were leveled, and the culprit’s life had been the price paid. and he knew that if he said this out loud, you would laugh and shake your head, telling him he was being far too dramatic, but it was the truth. you were his everything, and you deserved the world. nothing less would be good enough.
he met your gaze again, and he knew that it was almost time. your lives were about to be forever linked together, and he couldn’t help himself.
“i love you,” he whispered. it would be his last time saying it as your fiancé, and while it might not have meant anything to anyone else, it was a big step for him. you were about to become husband and wife, life partners, one in the same. any future ‘i love yous’ would have a much deeper meaning in his eyes, but this … this one was special.
“i love you, too,” you whispered back, and you felt him squeeze your hands. you squeezed back, a mix of emotions coursing through your veins.
“are you ready for this?” he asked.
“as ready as i’ll ever be,” you replied.
“i … i can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you. to create a future worth fighting for, a world of peace that our children will inherit,” he murmured, and you smiled.
“it’s going to be amazing. and there’s no one else i’d rather do it with than you,” you whispered, and again, he squeezed your hands.
it was almost time for your first step into forever, and there was no one else he’d rather take the plunge with.

YOU DIDN'T MEAN TO BE CRUEL. THAT DOES NOT MEAN YOU WERE KIND.
Awards After-party, post plot drop
Berkeley Estate
Warnings: Nah 🙂
Thud. Thudthudthud. A pause. Thud. Thud. Thud. Thud.
Henry used their knock so she knew it was him.
Adriana had been with Henry when everyone’s phone suddenly received a video of a man’s horrific death. How quickly their joyous celebration of her engagement going public soured at the torture and violence. In that instant, who that man was or who was behind this grand reveal didn’t matter to Henry. It was meant to send a message, and its intended recipient was unlikely to take it kindly.
The rest of the dominos falling was just a matter of time.
Henry made sure his best friend was safe first. Despite how many directions his mind was being pulled to—his daughter, his partner, his friends—he knew he couldn’t rest if he had left Adriana out hanging. Perhaps the gravity of the situation sunk in for her as well when Adriana did little to protest. Only after securing Adriana in a room did Henry venture off to find everyone else.
He had found Lara next, heart sunk at the sight of her already worse for wear. Where Henry had been so good, so used to compartmentalizing when he was working, seeing her like that pulled the rug out from under him. Was she alright? Was she hurt? Who did this to her? What happened? Questions bled into the forefront of his attention that only instinct got Henry to move Lara to a secure room before his concerns got the best of him.
A different message brought him back to his senses.
I have V. We are safe.
As much as Henry wanted to stay, he had to put his trust in Lara when she said she was okay, his trust in his colleagues to do their job, because he, too, still had work to do. Everyone would ultimately be better off if he did.
We are safe. We are safe. That was what Henry kept reminding himself as he went against every urge and call to find his daughter first. Valentina and Jessica had each other, he knew. Adriana was by herself, safe but alone. Having her stay with Lara made more sense; they both would have company to ride the ensuing chaos, and security can be more concentrated. With intense focus, Henry went straight to his best friend, dodging and avoiding the fights that littered the estate.
Thud. Thudthudthud. A pause. Thud. Thud. Thud. Thud.
Henry blocked most of the way when Adriana finally opened the door, a wave of relief rushed through his system at the sight of her just as he left her. “Lara’s secured. Valentina is with Jess. I’ll get you to Lara’s room first before I get them,” Henry quickly looped Adriana in before he began looking in the vicinity for a clear path. When the coast was clear enough, Henry kept an arm around Adriana, his body both guide and shield as they made their way back to Lara’s room.
“No! Get away from me! You can’t—help!”
The high pitched scream burned Henry’s ears. His heart made him want to approach where it came from. His head told him to avoid that situation entirely because going near would only invite them to trouble they were not supposed to be a part of. Yet, despite having traded blood on his knuckles for money in his bank account, Henry never grew to become indifferent or comfortable around the violence, because ultimately, they were always someone’s parent, child, brother—
“AVIV!”
Henry’s head immediately turned to the direction of the name. The Israeli had tore through the group of men trying to hold on to a small blond woman whom Henry assumed the screams came from. It was almost an amazing sight to see one man fight against a handful of them until the sobering reality hit: Aviv was one man fighting against a handful of Frenchmen.
“AVIV!” Another cry for the man, this time it rang right beside his ear. Adriana, witnessing the same events unfold, called out to her fiancé as she began to storm towards them. She had only made it an arm’s length away before Henry grabbed on to her, pulling her back towards him. Heart and head, often conflicting, were united over the common goal to keep Adriana safe.
The conflict between the French and the Russians had blown up to the point where boundaries grew fewer and became less and less respected as their rivalry continued, giving little regards to those who got burned along the way. Aviv’s reputation unfortunately preceded him, and he had suddenly found himself surrounded by people who could only wish to return the favor. Adriana getting involved would only give the French opportunity—fodder—to hurt Aviv even more.
He couldn’t help but remember Ceren, who had only been in the way for the French to get Jai.
Though Adriana tried to make a run for it, Henry caught up faster, his arm now around her waist to pull her back. And when her sheer force of will insisted on pushing forward, Henry lifted his best friend off her feet and onto his shoulders as he carried her farther and farther away from the scene. Henry swallowed the grunts as he absorbed Adriana’s hits and jabs to try to escape—he let her because he deserved it. For keeping her away from protecting her partner. For leaving Aviv behind. For leaving the woman behind.
None of them may forgive him, but he wouldn’t forgive himself if anything were to happen to Adriana.

“Don’t marry him.”
Your eyes shifted across the mirror and found Mickey—your fiancé’s best man—locking the bathroom door behind him and rushing over to you.
“Mickey, what are you—”
You were suddenly wrapped in Mickey’s arms, forehead resting on yours, hands cradling your cheeks.
“Don’t marry him. Please, please, please don’t marry him,” he whispered and begged, “you know he’s not right for you, and you know how I feel about you, and I know deep inside of you, you feel the same way.”
Guilt and longing battled inside you.
It pained you to know that Mickey tugged on your heartstrings more than your fiancé did. He was a good man, you kept trying to convince yourself. He provided for you just like any dutiful partner would. He greeted you with a kiss every morning and night—sometimes, he’ll even look up from his phone as he did so. He always asked you how your day went—before he locked himself up in his study. He showered you jewelry and flowers—only once, you saw someone else’s name on the card. He is a good man, you kept trying to convince yourself, in front of everyone else. And that’s what matters.
But then there was Mickey. It always confused you how he and your husband were related because they were polar opposites. Your fiancé was a talker; he was a listener. Your fiancé was stubborn; he was adventurous. Your fiancé was extravagant; he was simple. But Mickey was also the closest thing your fiancé had for a brother, so you maintained a boundary. And while the two of you have kept things platonic for the most part, you couldn’t help but notice all the subtle comments and gestures that said otherwise.
And little did you know how it hurt him to see your cousin dangle you like a little accessory: nice to show off to everyone only to take you off and stow you away until he needed to use you again. How you had to ask for his opinions on the wedding plans because his cousin couldn’t care less, only wanting to ‘lock you down.’
“I leave for base the day after tomorrow. If we leave now, we have time to get your things ready so you could come with me. We’ll never have to leave each other again.”
“Mick…” Tears welled in your eyes. Not just because your emotions were flooding, but because he was right. You constantly tried to put out the flame you held for him, but you couldn’t deny anymore to yourself that there was always something there. But how would it look to his family—to your fiancé—if you up and left him for his cousin at your dress rehearsal?
Your hands fell from his arms as you shook your head. You wanted this too, but there was too much at stake, and you weren’t sure if you were ready to face the consequences.
“We can’t—”
“No, sweetheart. You can’t.” He didn’t even want you to finish that sentence, not ready to accept your decision to push through with the wedding that isn’t meant to be. “I’ve been wearing my heart on my sleeve for you, and you…throw it away. Every time, you choose him, and I don’t know how much more I can take.” His voice strained of the emotional exhaustion he’s put himself through to do this.
“I’m sorry,” he said, trying to calm down, “but please, please. I promise you, if you do, you won’t ever regret it. Or I’ll be gone. Forever.”
You knew he wasn’t just talking about his deployment anymore. If you pushed through with this wedding, whatever was happening between you can’t go on.
“I…” You couldn’t find the words.
He could sense the wave of emotions inside you. So instead of demanding an answer, he held on tightly to what little patience he had left and kissed your forehead, as though that might soften the battle between your mind and heart.
“We still have time. If you want this, meet me by the fountain outside. I’ll be waiting for you.”
And just as quickly as he came in, he left, waiting for you to make the biggest decision of your life.

maybe it’s copium but i still hope cfiances gets a good ending, or at least for c!sapnap  all three of them have gone through a ton but sapnap is time and time again put in the middle and he keeps getting the short end of the stick in literally every situation.
back a way long time ago he wanted to help & support l’manburg but couldn’t because 1) he was american and 2) dream & george wanted him on their side as a team.
during pogtopia, he watched as his best friend (dream) covered for tommy and even helped tommy to burn down the original eiffel tower build, which was for his and karl’s wedding/honeymoon.
during new l’manburg he’d not only heard his best friend say he doesn’t care about anyone, including him, and when confronted couldn’t be given a straight answer, he was asked to, in the case of tommy not being exiled, to help trap everyone inside new l’manburg which would’ve included his two fiances.
he watched as his best friend (dream) yelled at his other best friend (george) and revoked his kingship he’d been given. he also saw dream nearly kill quackity, his fiancé, because all of them wanted to follow in the footsteps of l’manburg with el rapids and dream gave them shit for it.
he may have been involved in the pet wars, but after the constant shit he’d been given by dream, and some heartfelt talks with tommy he decided to side with him on doomsday and fight dream, techno, and phil. he nearly killed techno after techno started attacking quackity.
after he’d decided to go with george and karl to create a kingdom where they could be safe, and where quackity would also be safe. but karl forgot to invite quackity. meanwhile quackity did the same thing with las nevadas.
cut to the final disc confrontation, where he was already seemingly suspicious of what the hell happened in exile, but he walked in on his ex-best friend almost killing two kids of whom, in his eye, didn’t do anything wrong or near deserving. he jumped in front of them and stood between them. he had to escort him to the prison.
he eventually visits dream in prison, dream refuses to talk to him other than to convince him to send a taunting message to ranboo. and to write in a book about how he’s going to break out. despite all the awful things dream has done, sapnap says he still loves him like a friend/brother but it’s because of that love that he can’t stand to see dream continue to hurt people how he is, so he promises that if dream ever breaks out he’ll kill him himself.
all the while the start of the whole eggpire thing happens. he has his dad (bbh) want to kill or corrupt him as well as he hears word from karl from how bbh almost did so to both quackity and him. they have a small bicker back and forth and he doesnt really talk to his father until he’s invited to the red banquet, he doesn’t show up (and we see from the red banquet that, if the eggheads had not been interrupted, bbh would’ve probably had his own son killed while under the influence of the egg).
while ALL of this is happening his fiancé karl is slowly losing more and more memories and it’s getting really bad. he doesn’t know if it’s living around the mushrooms or some other cause but he doesn’t know what to do. george who is also living with them is asleep most of the time and it concerns him. it makes both of them extremely defenseless at times. he makes it his vow then that he has to protect kinoko and his friends, even if it means he will die trying.
he hasn’t heard from quackity in months at this point and he eventually goes to talk with him, wanting desperately to have him back in his life because he isn’t sure what happened. he finds out there was a huge misunderstanding and tries to set it right only for quackity and karl to get into a massive fight. karl doesn’t remember quackity being his fiance at all and hates him with all he has, and quackity goes on about how all he wanted was to do something good for them. sapnap is caught in the middle where he can’t believe karl and he feels bad for quackity, but he can’t chose a side so he just stands there, and tries to talk to both of them. he’d be accepted in las nevadas so long as karl isnt there, and karl no longer wants to see quackity, and he doesn’t know what to do.
this i think has been retconned but if you want to count it he then gets the responsibility of the death book where he finds out he could potentially end the suffering of people and kill dream (if he manages to steal the revive book first), but it would cost his own life, all his lives. and at the time he was extremely willing to do this.
and NOW his best friend has broken out of prison and got away and he’s actively trying to hunt him down so he doesn’t hurt people, but he finds out he failed anyway because IMMEDIATELY after breaking out he chases down and tries to hunt tommy, and traps his house. he’s one of the only people to believe tommy and agrees to protect him.
c!sapnap has gone through SO much shit with so, so very little wins. and he’s stick in a limbo in between zone of his romantic relationship where he is probably going to be forced to pick a side. not to mention it’s looking like he’ll have to, or he’ll have to deal with his best childhood friend/brother dying and his whole situation with his father doesn’t even seem to be resolved.
c!sapnap needs a vacation and a break and a nap and on everything i hope he gets a good ending.

“You look pretty,” Jay teases as he watched you fix your dress, a scowl etched onto your face. You hate it, the tight fitting monstrosity that Nina had bought for you, but you know you have to wear it. She’d never let you hear the end of it if you didn’t.
“I look like a cheap hooker,” you return.
“I think that’s the idea,” Jay pokes.
You’re headed for a dinner which your sister had set up, something which only meant it would be bad. Her dinners were horrid and, with the new addition of Jeonghan, they were only to get worse. Nina uses her dinners to brag, and being engaged to a handsome and successful idol is something she’ll never tire of bragging about, especially to you. You have never dated a man quite like Jeonghan and, your sister is insistent on reminding you over and over of the fact.
“We should get going,” Jay muses as he checks his watch. “We have to pick Solji up on the way,” he adds.
You nod your head and move to adjust your dress once more, pulling it over your chest at the expense of a little covering on your legs. “Nina hates me,” you cry as your brother offers you another laugh before he guides you out of the house.
“Y/N, oh my god, you look so pretty!” Nina fawns as she greets you. She knows the dress she’d given you is snug; it’s short and skimpy, but it’s the sort of thing she thought you desperately needed, just because you haven't had a boyfriend since you were eighteen and, in her words; ‘needed someone new in your life’, something the dress was sure to aid you in, according to her.
You offer your sister a forced smile before you walk past her, greeting a few of the other people that she’d invited. You honestly don’t want to be here at all, her friends are so insufferable, but you know you have to play the doting sister. Your mother and father would never accept anything less and neither would your sister.
“Y/N,” You lift your head a little, your eyes shining at the sight of Jeonghan. He offers you a soft smile before he moves towards you, pressing a friendly kiss to your cheek. “I didn’t think you would make it,” he says as he allows his eyes to scan your frame. He smiles to himself, it’s so clear to him that Nina had given you the dress you’re wearing.
“If my parents weren’t over there glaring at me, I wouldn’t have done,” you return playfully. He peeks over his shoulder at your parents for a moment before he turns back to you.
“A few of my friends are in the lounge. You and Jay should go and join them,” he smiles softly.
You smile at him gratefully before you grab Jay’s arm, leading him away from Nina who was twittering incessantly into his ear.
“Thank you so much, Y/N,” he says, offering you a smile as he and his girlfriend, Solji, follow you into Jeonghan’s vast living room.
“You don’t have to thank me,” you smile. You’re sure he would have done the same thing for you if you’d been in his place, it’s almost an unwritten pact between you two.
“Y/N, over here,” Joshua beams, beckoning you towards him.
You smile at him softly before stepping towards him and, embracing him in a friendly manner. “Y/N, this is Miyeon, my girlfriend,” he says, offering you a smile as you separate. “Miyeon, this is Y/N. She’s Nina’s little sister,” he explains.
Miyeon offers you a look, her mouth agape. “You’re seriously related to her?”
You nod your head. “Yeah. Sadly,” you return, causing her to laugh.
“I feel bad for you, she’s not pleasant,” she quips lightly, her nose wrinkling a little. You bet she doesn’t even know your sister well, but she knows enough to know that she’s awful. Nina’s stuck up and so obsessed with herself and, appears to have very little time for anything or anyone else.
“I get that a lot,” you muse.
“I can imagine. How’d she end up with a sweetheart like Jeonghan?”
You shrug. “That’s a good question.”
You honestly have no idea what it is that Jeonghan sees in your sister, but you’re not about to question it. He loves her even if no one else can fathom why and, quite frankly, it’s none of your business.
Tumblr media
“Come on Y/N, he’s sweet, go and flirt with him,” Nina slurs as she nudges your ribs, egging you on.
“He’s with someone Nina, I don’t intend to make him cheat on her,” you scoff, your eyes staring ahead of you at the man she wants you to approach. He’s a group member of Jeonghan’s, Hoshi, but you know very well he’s taken and you’re not stupid enough to try and convince him to cheat.
“But he’s so cute!” she pouts, nudging you once more.
“If he’s so cute, you go and flirt with him.”
She scoffs instantly. “He’s cute for you Y/N, he’s nowhere near being in my league,” she notes, her hand flicking some of her hair over her shoulder.
You roll your eyes. “I need some air,” you mutter. She watches you for a second before wandering away in search of another drink. Stepping out onto the patio, you sigh to yourself, your hand nestling in the front of your hair. You love your sister, you have to, but sometimes you wish it was simply you and Jay. God, things would’ve been so much easier that way.
“Are you alright?” Jeonghan’s voice quips, his hand moving to close the sliding door behind himself. You watch him carefully before you nod, forcing a smile. “I’m so sorry for her. She gets worse with alcohol,” he says apologetically, his lean figure sitting beside you on the sun lounger you’re perched on.
“I know…” you mutter, “I just wish it wasn’t me she got worse with. She’s rude at the best of times.”
He nods his head softly. “Why does she think you need to be set up?“
You offer him a shrug before you run a hand through your hair. “For some reason, she seems to think the only way to be happy is to have some pretty boy on your arm. No offence,” you say lightly. He lifts his hand, signalling that he isn’t offended. “She wants me to be like her.”
“You’re perfect the way you are,” he says earnestly.
“Sure I am,” you scoff sarcastically, “That’s why you’re with her, because I am so perfect, right?” You’re a little drunk, but not drunk enough to not know what you’re saying. You know exactly what you’re saying, and you also know damn well it’s wrong but the words escaped your lips before you even had the time to stop them.
“Wait, what? Do you like me that way?” he asks, his brown eyes boring holes into your soul.
You sigh a little before pushing yourself up, your eyes staring at anything but him. “It’s hard not to,” you reply after a moment of thought.
He pushes himself up tentatively and places a hand against your hip, turning your body to face him. Allowing your eyes to study his handsome face, you take in each and every gorgeous aspect of it.
“Why did I meet her first?” he whispers to himself, his other hand brushing the hair away from your eyes.
You spare a little ironic laugh. It’s such a cliché and you can’t help but laugh. “You should get back inside. Nina is probably looking for you,” you say, your stare drifting from his eyes across his tempting lips.
Jeonghan shifts the hand in your hair a little more before he ducks his head, his breath brushing against your lips. He smells like vanilla and strawberries, thanks to the sickly dessert that your sister had served, but it only makes him more tempting to you. Vanilla and strawberries are your favorite things.
Leaning up a little, you feel the skin of his lips brush past yours, making you close your eyes in anticipation and Jeonghan’s eyes are quick to follow. I’m going to kiss him. That’s the only thought that runs through your head. At least it was, until you hear the screeching of the sliding door echoing, causing you to jerk away from each other, your eyes fixed on the figure that stands in the doorway.
“Jeonghan, Nina’s looking for you,” Jay says with his eyebrows furrowed. Jeonghan nods and moves away, leaving Jay alone with you.
“What the fuck was that?” your brother says angrily, pulling the door closed. You’re blushing like crazy at this point and, all you can do is shake your head slowly, not quite sure what to say. You don’t know what it was, whether it was intentional or a mistake, but it’s sure to only make things worse. You’re already struggling with your crush as it is.
“You need to get your head straight. That’s Nina’s fiancé, are you crazy?” he hisses. “Imagine what would have happened if it was her instead of me.”
You sigh a little and nod, knowing that he’s right. You absolutely do need to get your head straight, but after the almost moment you’d shared, you’re sure it was only going to get harder.
Tumblr media
“Hey, Where’s Y/N?” Chan asks as Jeonghan steps into the dressing room. It’s already become normal for you to attend all their dance practices and, to see that you weren’t there was a little bit of a surprise, Chan had rather been looking forwards to going over his solo dance performance with you.
Truthfully, Jeonghan isn’t surprised, you’ve been keeping your distance since you’d almost kissed and, he’s actually grateful. He has no idea how he’d react to you now that you’ve shared that moment.
“She’s out on a date,” Nina says as she steps towards Jeonghan, a smile etched onto her face.
“A date?” he says as he raises an eyebrow, trying his absolute hardest to keep the bitterness out of his voice. He has no right to be upset, you’re a single girl who’s more than entitled to go out, and meet men, but still the idea hurt him. He really thought that you liked him.
“Yes, a writer from the magazine she works for asked her out. He’s SO adorable!” Nina fawns before her phone buzzes, causing Jeonghan to roll his eyes.
“Let me guess…” he mutters, his brown eyes watching as the apologetic expression spills across her face. “You have to go?”
She nods her head shyly before she pressed a kiss to his lips, mumbling about making it up to him. He shakes his head, watching her leave before he lets out a little groan.
“Are you alright there, hyung?” Chan asks.
He flicks his stare towards him and sighs, shaking his head a little. He’s growing tired of it, Nina’s behavior, your presence, it’s all starting to become a little irksome, but he knows there’s nothing he can do. Nina is hardly going to let him go without a fight and, she sure as hell isn’t going to give him up for you.
“Is it about Y/N?” Chan asks, his brown eyes surveying the room around them. “I’m not an idiot, I’ve seen the way that you behave around her and it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that something happened. Plus, her disappearance coincides with the emergence of your shitty moods.”
Jeonghan arches an eyebrow. “Did you honestly think no one noticed?” Chan says chuckling and Jeonghan merely glares at him in response. “If you’re so messed up over her, how come you’re still engaged to her sister?”
At this point, it’s clear to everyone around him that he feels something for you; his face lights up when you walk into a room and, he knows why it makes his members curious. He clearly doesn’t love Mina, not anymore; at least, not enough to keep him from falling for her sister.
“Because I love her okay?” he snaps all of a sudden, causing Chan to jump a little as he holds his hands up in surrender. “Why can no one get it into their heads that I want to be with Y/N? She might not fit your standards but she’s perfect to me and I want her,” he grumbles before stepping out of the room.
Tumblr media
“I’m so glad we decided to do this,” you smile as you and your date wander back towards your home. You know for a fact it’s wrong, to accept the other boy’s invitation when you’re still crushing on Jeonghan, but you’d been left with no choice. You needed something, anything to distract you from him and Taehyung, a boy you work with, seemed as good as anything.
You have a lot in common, and he’s funny and cute, and you really do like him as he’s a welcome change from the airhead celebrities that your sister keeps setting you up with.
“Me too, I never thought you’d say yes,” he smiles as he squeezes your hand a little. He has liked you for a while, but he’s always been worried that you’d turn him down.
You offer him a little smile before you stop at the top of the path which leads back to your apartment complex.
“I guess this is goodnight,” he says, dropping your hand.
“Indeed it is. I had a lovely time Tae, we should do it again,” you smile earnestly. He nods eagerly before he leans over, pressing a soft kiss to your cheek. You smile a little at the contact and, turn your head a little, pressing a soft kiss against his lips.
He smiles into it for a second before he draws back and speaks, “Sweet dreams, beautiful.”
You offer him another smile before you turn to your apartment building, making your way inside.
Tumblr media
After tossing beneath the covers for a while, Jeonghan turns to glare at the space beside him, one that still remains empty despite the late hour. It isn’t uncommon, Nina often stays with her boss over night so she can get an early start, but he’s slowly coming to resent it. She’s his fiancée for gods sake, she should be at his side every night, not when it suits her. It doesn’t make sense to him, nothing does.
Tossing once more, he allows his brown eyes to stare at the ceiling, his stomach aching at the thought of you. It has been nearly a month since your almost moment and, he hasn’t seen you since, something which makes his heart ache a little. You were fun to be around and, you made his days so much better and, now you were gone.
He missed you.
You weren’t like Nina, you weren’t as fake as your sister and, he misses your honesty, he misses your smile, your laugh. He misses you. God, he misses you so much.
Shaking his head, he squeezes his eyes shut, trying with all his might to swallow the lump that has grown in his throat at the mere thought of you. It’s ridiculous, that he’d care for you so much already, but he does, even despite his better judgement, he cares about you.
Jeonghan shakes his head again, tossing the comforter away from his frame before moving to get himself dressed. He knows it’s stupid, going to see you is a fucking stupid idea, but with a serge of confidence pushing through him, he has no choice.
He needs to look at you once more.
Pulling his shirt over his head, he moves to leave the room, only to pause as Nina strolls towards him, a flirtatious look perched on her features.
“You’re home,” he splutters out.
She nods, smiling. “Of course I am baby.”
Jeonghan can smell the alcohol on her, the unfamiliar aftershave and the sweat, but as she presses her lips to his, he forgets all about it.
Nina smiles into the kiss and lowers her hands, tugging at the shirt he’s wearing. He backs away from her a little and allows her to pull it over his head, tossing it to the floor without a care. “Were you going somewhere, Hannie?” she pants between kisses.
He looks at her before shaking his head. “Nowhere important,” he mumbles before lifting her up, carrying her back towards their room.
Tumblr media
“Why do I have to go with you?” you complain as you sit on Nina’s couch, your arms crossed over your chest.
“Because my friends are busy,” your sister replies, “And besides, you could really use a shopping trip, you’re hardly going to impress your new boyfriend dressed like this,” she adds, her nose wrinkling a little.
You want to roll your eyes, to fire back some sarcastic comment, but you know better. She’ll only serve to make your life worse if you offend her.
“Where’s Jeonghan?” you ask. You don’t want to see him, things were still far too awkward between you two, but you’re still curious as to why he can’t take your sister out. You’re certain he’d be better company than you.
“He’s out with Seungcheol and Jisoo,” she says dismissively, rolling her eyes.
You cock an eyebrow, but nod. “Okay cool, we’ll go, but I’m picking my own stuff.”
Nina instantly squeals and claps her hands together, grateful that you’d agreed to accompany her. She had always hated being on her own and you can see that she’s grateful for the company.
“What exactly is it you need to buy anyway?” you ask as you tie the laces on your shoes. Your sister has literally everything, designer clothes, bags, accessories, you honestly don’t see what else she could need.
She offers a little smirk before she shoulders her bag. “I need lingerie,” she replies with a little nonchalant shrug and winks at you. “It’s Hannie and I’s anniversary.”
You shudder at the thought.
“Please, Nina, can we get out here?” you whine after a while as you stand outside of the changing room, your arms crossed awkwardly across your chest. You hate it, the stuffy little shop and, you want to leave as soon as you can. Watching her try on lingerie for thirty minutes straight or in general was not in your job description as her little sister.
“We will, when I find the right one for tonight.”
You roll your eyes a little and move to sit down, your hands propping up your face as your elbows rest on your knees.
“Instead of looking so miserable, you could look for something for yourself,” she says as she steps out of the changing room.
You instantly shake your head. Lingerie has never really been your thing, you’re a little awkward when it comes to sex and it’s always apparent. You blush at the mere mention of the topic, causing Mina to roll her eyes a little. “Weirdo,” she mutters under her breath. “You’re so fucking strange,” she comments as she rifles through yet another rack of expensive bras.
“I’m just a little awkward. Sorry for not being blessed with the famed Y/L/N confidence,” you scoff, rolling your eyes at her.
She draws her eyes away and offers you a look, raising one of her eyebrows. “Have you always resented me so much?”
You want to nod so bad, to explain all the grievances you had with your older sister, but you merely refrain, offering nothing more than an obedient shake of your head. “I don’t resent you Nini, I’m just not like you. You’re the famous actress slash model with the successful celebrity boyfriend. I’m nothing more than your Plain Jane little sister,” you explain.
You’ve always been in your sister’s shadow, it isn’t anything new.
She offers you a smile before she grabs another bra from the rack, making her way back into the changing room.
You glare after her. In her mind, there’s nothing for you to complain about. She’ll never comprehend that there’s a problem, as far as she’s concerned, being Nina Y/L/N’s little sister is a great thing. Amazing in fact.
Tumblr media
“Babe, is that you?” Jeonghan calls curiously, his eyes turning to the doorway. He thought Nina was spending the day at home, but when he’d returned from hanging out with the boys to find her absent, he hasn’t been overly surprised. He has learnt that his fiancée very rarely kept to her word.
“Not Nina,” you mutter as you step into the living room, your arms weighting down with your sister’s shopping bags.
“Y/N,” he whispers, his voice a little breathless in surprise. You can tell he hasn’t been expecting you, you were still keeping your distance from him, but you can also tell he’s glad to see you. Jeonghan smiles, thinking you looked even more beautiful than the last time he’d seen you. “What are you doing here? Where’s Nina?” he asks.
“Teddy called her while we were out, she had to go into work and insisted that I drop these here,” you say, setting the bags down beside the doorway.
“Did she spend much?” he asks, knowing that it’s his credit card that would’ve funded his fiancé’s purchases.
“For her?” you tease awkwardly. Jeonghan notes the tone of your voice and sighs a little, his hand pushing back into his hair.
“We need to talk…”
“What is there to say, Jeonghan?” you sigh, your eyes fixed on your feet. “You had a moment of weakness, I was just the one who was there.”
“It wasn’t like that,” he softly returns. “You know it’s not like that.”
“Of course it wasn’t,” you scoff. “You really wanted to kiss me,” you add sarcastically.
Jeonghan rolls his eyes and steps towards you, his hand moving beneath your chin, causing you to swallow a little at the contact, but you still don’t move away from it.
“I really did want to kiss you Y/N,” he admits softly, his skin warmed by the familiar feel of your skin against his.
You shake your head. “No, you didn’t, Jeonghan. You had a lot to drink, I did too. Let’s not make more of this than necessary,” you explain before moving to collect your own bag.
He watches you, smirking a little at the logo that’s marked on the bag. “Victoria’s Secret,” he whispers, his voice evoking a shiver from your body. Jeonghan smiles a little at the shiver and moves to take the bag from your hand, his own taking out the lace underwear set you’d bought. “Damn, I didn’t have you down for bustier,” he chuckles.
Your cheeks flush before you move to snatch the clothes back from him, tossing them back into the bag.
Jeonghan offers you another smirk as he ducks his head down, his lips skimming over yours. “I really do like you, Y/N,” he whispers, his lips kissing the side of yours, teasing you. You hum a little at the contact, not quite sure what to do.
He smirks at your reaction and presses a real kiss to your lips, causing you to gasp a little in surprise. The kiss is slow, steady, but it’s exactly how he’d imagined it. How you both imagined it.
Humming a little, you move your hands, steadily nestling them in his long hair, tugging on it a little as you kiss him back just as passionately. Jeonghan lowers his hands to your hips and, holds you close, savouring the feel of your breath on his skin. Tugging your bottom lip with the two of his, he lets out a little sigh as his heart pounds in his chest. His heart can’t go much faster, there’s a breaking point somewhere, but he just doesn’t want to find it.
The kiss could’ve lasted forever, it could’ve led anywhere, but as the sound of a key in a lock echoes, he’s quick to end it, his head jerking away from you.
“Y-you should go,” he splutters, averting his gaze from you.
You glare at him for a moment before you take your bag up from the floor, storming out of the room as your sister moves into it, a smirk fixed on her face. “Well she seemed to be in a rush,” she laughs, watching after you.
Jeonghan scratches his head awkwardly and nods, still trying to soothe his talking heart.
Tumblr media
“I’m an awful person,” you complain as you flop onto Yeejin’s couch, your hand wrapped around a pot of cookie dough ice cream. It hasn’t been long since you and Jeonghan had kissed, but instead of heading home you’d opted to visit Yeejin and Minhyuk, desperate for someone to confide in.
“We know that,” Minhyuk chuckles, his hand stealing the tub of ice cream. “But what makes you say it out loud?” he adds, sticking a spoonful into his mouth.
You steal the pot back and sigh before muttering, “I kissed Jeonghan.”
Yeejin, who’s been pouring wine into three glasses, looks up, her eyes wide both in surprise and excitement. “Jeonghan? As in Nina’s Jeonghan?”
You spare an anxious look before nodding. You know that it’s wrong, kissing him is perhaps the worst thing you’d ever done, but at the same time, it’s… the best thing. You’d never felt something quite like it and you don’t know how to describe it.
“I told you it would happen!” Minhyuk yells, being extra as always.
You jump a little and spare your friends a look, noting the smug smile that he wore. “Told her what would happen?” you enquire meekly.
He offers you a wide smile, his body practically shaking in excitement. “I had a conversation with Jeonghan when he had lunch with us that time and he told me that he liked you,” he squeaks, his actions mimicking a teenage girl.
You roll your eyes a little but fail to keep the blush from your cheeks, something which makes Yeejin giggle. “Wait a minute… you like him too?!” she exclaims, taking a sip of her wine.
You want to deny it, to say that the mere idea is idiotic, but you can’t lie to them, they had been your friends since your childhood and were sure to see right through you.
“I might do,” you murmur as you blush a little.
Minhyuk lets out another squeak. “You guys would be so cute together!”
You shake your head before grumbling, “It doesn’t matter how cute we would be. He’s my sister’s fiancé, I couldn’t do anything even if I wanted to.”
“What makes you think Nina would actually marry this one? She didn’t marry Hyunsuk or Minho or Jinyoung, he might just be another fling,” he explains, trying to buoy your spirits, but you merely shake your head in response, knowing this time is different. Nina has finally landed a man who matches her fame and, now that she has her claws into Jeonghan, she isn’t going to let him go, especially not for you. She’s selfish like that - you can’t blame her though. He’s her man and you know, unless something awful happened, she wasn’t going to let him go.
“Because he’s what she always wanted,” you finally say as they both share a look. “Nina was the type of little girl who dreamed of being an it girl and having a celebrity boyfriend. She knew a successful idol could bank roll her life and now she has Jeonghan, she definitely isn’t going to let him go.”
“What about him? Does he love her that much?” Yeejin asks softly.
You shrug. You honestly don’t know if he’s in love with your sister, but you guess he must be. Only a man in love would put up with all of her bullshit.
“Why did I have to pick the one man I can’t have?” you groan, sticking another spoonful of ice cream into your mouth.
“We don’t choose who we fall for, Y/N, it just sort of happens,” Yeejin says, trying to make you feel better about your predicament. You close your eyes a little and sigh to yourself, wishing that you had fallen for anyone but Jeonghan. Like, why the fuck couldn’t you just fall for Mark? What the hell is wrong with me?, you think to yourself. There’s only one outcome to your story and, it’s definitely not one that favors you, because honestly, what sane man would chose you over your perfect sister?
You run a hair through your head before deciding to head home. A few minutes later, you’re pulling your jacket closer to your body as you step into the lobby of your apartment building, your little frame trembling a little with the chill from the rain outside. It’s unseasonable, it rarely rains in the Seoul summer, but the weather seems fitting to you. The grey clouds seems to be the perfect metaphor for the state of your head.
“You should have worn a warmer coat,” Jeonghan comments, his lean frame perched against the series of mailboxes that stands against the far wall.
“And you should be miles away from here,” you reply sharply.
He lets a melodic laugh escape his lips before taking a pace towards you, his 5'10 frame looming over you. “We had a moment earlier, I thought you’d want to talk about it,” he says, his face held in a half smirk and half earnest smile.
You merely glare at him. “You said that earlier. We ended up kissing. I hardly think it’s a good idea for you to come inside my apartment,” you say before you move to step past him.
“Are you scared, Y/N?” he teases, his brown eyes following the movement of your hips.
“Scared?” you return as you arch an eyebrow.
“Can you not control yourself around me?” he nods, his eyelids battering innocently.
You roll your eyes before saying, “You’re the one intent on making their move.”
He laughs a little. “I swear, no funny business, I just want to talk about what happened earlier,” he muses, smiling earnestly, his hands held up in surrender.
You offer him a little look before you nod, allowing him to follow you towards the elevator.
“You have a nice place, Y/N,” he comments politely as he steps into your apartment. It’s smaller than he expected, a little cramped for him, but he liked it. It seemed very you.
You ignore his compliment, tossing your coat and keys onto the table and turning to face him, your arms folded across you chest. “Speak,” you command.
Jeonghan pushes his hand back through his hair a little, not quite sure what to say.
“You keep trying to kiss me, Jeonghan, there must be a reason for that,” you prompt.
He nods his head. “There’s a reason, but it’s not one you’re going to like.”
“Whatever it is, we need to get it out in the open. We need to decide what we’re going to do,” you say, running a hand through your hair.
He nods softly before taking a few paces towards you, his brown eyes guiding shyly towards yours. “I like you, Y/N,” he mutters, “I mean really, really like you.“
You shake your head a little. “You can’t be serious.”
He eyes you once more before he nods his head. He wished that it wasn’t true, that he hadn’t come to like the sister of his fiancée, but he had. You were everything your sister wasn’t and, he couldn’t help but like you. To fall in love with you. You’re a far better match for him than Nina would ever be.
“Jeonghan, I’m not going to take you from my sister,” you mutter after a moment of thought. It’s tempting, you know you like him back and that you want to be with him, but you also know it’ll ruin your relationship with your already estranged sister. There’s just no way you’d do that to her, it’s not your character.
“Why?” he quips curiously, licking his bottom lip as his forehead crinkles a little.
“Because she’s still my sister and I really think that she may love you. I don’t want to be the reason she gets hurt.”
“But I thought you hated her?”
You shake your head. “It just isn’t going to happen, Jeonghan. You’re her fiancée and that’s all that needs to be said,” you mutter before you move towards him, your lips pressing to his cheek softly.
“You should go home, Hannie, my sister will start wondering where you are,” you say before leaving the room. He watches after you, his cheek tingling from the soft touch of his lips, his heart slowly breaking into tiny pieces.

Christmas Tree Farm
Tumblr media
Word Count: 2k
AO3
Warnings: Language
Pairings: three brothers x three sisters, Elriel centric
MERRY, MERRY, MERYY Christmas to my beloved @nikethestatue . Thank you so much for your friendship this past year, and I hope you enjoy you gift 🥹🫶🏻
“Are you sure you know what you’re doing?” Elain asked, her nose scrunched as she looked at the three men tying a tree to the top of Azriel’s truck.
“No,” Nesta answered for them, in a voice as cold as the early December air. Her hands were shoved into the pockets of her puffy coat, and Elain could see her sister shivering beneath the layers she piled on. “They don’t.”
“Nessy, baby,” Cassian said in a strained voice, his neck crooked as he tried to avoid a spindly branch as he fastened a knot. “You know your attitude gives me a hard on, but I can’t flirt right now.”
They collectively gagged, all five of them who weren’t named Nesta. She simply smiled while the rest of them tried to ignore all mentions of Cassian’s penis.
“Weird you get turned on by the Loch Ness Monster.” Rhys said from the opposite side of the truck, and from the way the tree jostled Elain could tell he was trying to tighten his side of the chords.
Elain could feel Nesta’s self-control slowly snapping like a rope being pulled in two directions until nothing but a small thread existed. She scrambled for a way to break the tension, knowing the animosity between her sister and Rhysand had been growing this holiday season.
Ever since Rhys proposed to Feyre, their youngest sister. Elain was happy when Feyre showed her the dazzling sapphire on her finger, but Nesta was furious. She started lecturing Feyre on how they had only been dating a year and that at 20 there was still so much left for her to experience. Elain winced when Nesta mentioned she couldn’t even drink at her bachelorette party.
Nesta and Rhys had never gotten along, but the more Feyre created her own life with Rhysand, the more desperately Nesta tried to hang on to her sister. Afraid she was creating a life without her. And Rhys…as much as Elain loved him…was an ass to Nesta — he knew exactly what words to say to push her over the edge, but Cassian was always there to comfort her. Nesta never ceased to remind him that he was five years older than Feyre, and Rhys always reminded her that she needed Feyre more than Feyre needed her.
Elain opened her mouth to ask if they needed any help, but the sound of snow crunching under boots and Feyre’s sweet voice saved her from salvaging the situation.
“How’s it going?” Feyre asked, carrying a red plastic tray with styrofoam to-go mugs of steaming cider balancing on it.
Rhysand immediately let go of his side of the chord, slackening the rope and inadvertently causing Cassian to stumble, and he rushed to his fiancé’s side to take the tray from her hands.
“I got it, love.” Rhys said as he leaned down to kiss Feyre, whose cheeks were red from more than just the cold.
“Thank you,” Feyre said, taking one of the cups off of the tray and bringing it to her lips. Her golden brown hair long and straight underneath her purple beanie. She gazed up at her fiancé with so much love Elain felt like she should be looking away, the same type of feeling you get when you look at the sun for too long. “I thought this would warm us up.”
Elain reached for one, sending her sister a thankful smile and hugging the styrofoam cup between her mittened hands. She blew gently over the opening, her lips puckered as her eyes drifted to the tall man that walked up behind her.
Azriel leaned forward to grasp one of the ciders, leaning much too close to Elain. His scent of cedar completely enveloping her and causing her mind to muddle. Which wasn’t how she should be feeling, especially considering she had a boyfriend who already was probably already freaking out because she wasn’t answering his texts. The spotty service at the Christmas Tree Farm refused to push her texts through, but had no trouble accepting them.
Graysen was already worried about her and Azriel living together…and Elain only partly understood it. Azriel was absurdly beautiful, and to say otherwise would be a lie. But it wasn’t as if they lived alone together, her sisters and his brothers lived with them. All six of them living together in Rhysands townhouse in the center of the city. Graysen had been hounding her to move in with him, but Elain wasn’t ready to leave her family just yet. She just wished Graysen would believe her, but he was constantly plaguing her with texts:
Is Azriel with you?
Are you home?
Send pics.
Elain made the mistake of sending him a pic of family game night, scrabble tiles splayed on the table and half full glasses of wine. Feyre, drowning in one of her fiancé’s cream sweaters, was smiling brightly since Rhysand had his arm slung over her shoulder with his cheek pressed into hers. Nesta was hiding a smile and fake glaring at Cassian, who held a strand of her hair smushed between his upper lip and nose like a mustache. And Azriel was smiling politely at the camera, one hand placed on Elain’s thigh, and Elain had her head tilted close to his just to make sure everyone could fit into the frame. She had forgotten that she was in Azriel’s Steelers sweatshirt, not thinking twice about the way Azriel was touching her.
Elain, apparently, looked too happy in the picture.
Graysen didn’t even respond. He simply drove to her house and banged on the door — it all happened so fast that Elain could barely remember what he said. She just remembered grabbing his arm and pleading with him to stop yelling at Azriel. The only word that Elain heard him say clearly was slut which caused Azriel to slug Graysen in the jaw. Cassian rushed to hold his brother back, though Elain could tell he wanted nothing more than to lay in on Graysen himself, and it was only Elain’s tear-stained face that stopped him.
Ever since then Graysen dropped in periodically, but he would be met with nothing but glares from her family and Elain’s tentative smile. Nothing explosive has happened since that one night, but Elain was always careful not to set him off.
Her phone pinged, drawing her out of her memories, and Elain looked to see a message from:
??????
She tried to respond, but the green text bubble just mocked her. With a sigh she shoved the phone back in her pocket and adjusted her mittens.
“Everything ok?” Azriel asked with a pulled brow, standing close enough to her that the others couldn’t hear.
The cold had turned his cheeks red with a flush, and his leather jacket was zipped all the way up with his cobalt scarf tucked into it. The scarf Elain had knitted for him last year — she made one for everyone in her family, but Azriel wore it more often than anyone else. So she knitted him matching mittens and a hat, one that would keep his ears warm and had a little pom on top, for his gift this year.
Elain even stitched in a little gnome design, knowing how much he enjoyed them around Christmas. She had a gnome statue that Azriel adored, and this year she got the little guy two more gnome buddies so he wouldn’t be lonely.
“Just trying to text Graysen, but the messages won’t go through.” Elain replied with a tense smile, wanting to quash the agitation she saw in Azriel’s features.
“He didn’t want to come?”
“I didn’t invite him,” Elain admitted, chewing on her lip and shifting on her feet. “It’s a family event. Getting a tree for our home.”
“You’re happier without him,” Azriel said bluntly, his knuckles turning white around his cider. Elain opened her mouth to defend her relationship, but Azriel kept going. “Don’t lie to me,” his hazel eyes burned as he gazed down at her. “You don’t smile when he’s around. Which is a shame,” Her breath turned to icicles in her lungs. His chilled hand came up to caress her jaw, his thumb dusting over her lips. “You have a beautiful smile, Elain. The world should see it more.”
Azriel quickly dropped his hand and the cold air stung her cheek.
“We just have to tighten the knots,” Cassian said in a booming voice, one arm over Nesta’s shoulder as she huddled into his warmth, burrowing into his red plaid coat. “And then we’re good to go,” He brought one hand up to take a sip of his cider. Nesta mumbled into his chest. “What’s that Nes?”
Nesta pulled her head back long enough to say, “You better not have picked a tree with a spider's nest.” before pressing her face back into his chest.
“But I heard they’re your favorite breakfast? Right after the hearts of innocence.” Rhysand said, pathetically shrugging at Feyre’s stern look.
Nesta pulled her head back to retort, but Cassian capture her lips in a heated kiss to distract her.
“Ignore him, Nes, he’s just sad the flurries are messing up his hair.”
“I’m wearing a hat, dick.” Rhysand said, but he sent a questioning look to Feyre anyway.
“You look handsome,” Feyre said, raising to her tiptoes to kiss his nose. “Very sexy.” Rhysand relaxed a bit at her words.
“Are you cold?” Azriel asked, his expression worried.
“A bit.” Elain admitted, taking another sip.
She watched as Azriel unzipped his jacket and opened his arms. For a second she bit her lip in hesitation, but a gust of wind blew some powdery snow into her face and Elain took shelter in his embrace. One arm sliding underneath his jacket and behind his back. Her cheek pressed against his soft sweater.
“Cashmere?” Elain asked into his chest, ignoring the flutters she felt as Azriel wrapped his arms around her and tucked his chin on top of her head.
“Mmhm.” Azriel responded and Elain felt the vibrations through his chest.
“I’m going to break up with him,” Elain whispered, her eyes shut tight. “But I’m scared.”
His body stilled and tensed at the words.
“Do you want me to go with you?” Azriel asked in a dark, even voice.
“Please.”
Azriel opened his mouth to respond, but Feyre cleared her throat. Silently asking for everyone's attention.
Elain opened her eyes and stood on her tip toes to see her sister. Azriel pivoted slightly to accommodate her.
“We have an announcement,” Feyre said, smiling nervously. “We were going to wait, but it’s so pretty here—” she spread her arms wide and gestured to the array of green trees dusted in snow, and the twinkling lights hung around the Christmas tree farm.
“You’re pregnant,” Nesta said in a cold voice, her glare narrowing in on Rhysand. “That’s why you’re getting married.”
Rhysand rolled his eyes and was about to respond, but Feyre placed a hand on his chest.
“No,” Feyre said, and sent an imploring look to her sister, begging her to be nice. “We set a date for the wedding,” She peered up at Rhysand, who motioned for her to continue with a smile. “New Years Eve.”
“That’s less than a month away.” Nesta said, about to take a step forward, but Cassian huddled her closer to his chest.
“Of next year,” Feyre explained, her brilliant smile not dimming from her sister's frosty look. “We need time to plan the wedding of Rhysand’s dreams.”
“You deserve the best, Feyre Darling.” Rhys purred, kissing his fiancé’s cheek.
“It will be beautiful.” Elain said, her voice not faltering as all of their eyes turned her way and saw her wrapped in Azriel.
“Obviously,” Feyre continued, her smile growing. “I’m going to need bridesmaids.”
“And I’ll need groomsmen.” Rhys said, smiling over Feyre’s head.
“I always knew Rhysie would ask me to marry him one day.” Cassian whispered loudly into Nesta’s ear, causing everyone to chuckle.
Feyre raised a pointing, gloved hand at Cassian and said, “Stop flirting with my fiancé or I’ll start to get jealous.”
“I’m really enjoying this conversation and all,” Nesta said, her teeth chattering. “But maybe we could continue it in the car. On the way home. With my butt warmer on.”
Nesta and Feyre squeeze into the back of the truck, and Elain sat waiting in the front middle seat. Her unofficial assigned seat as the shortest member of their family, but spending an hour sitting next to Azriel made her feel warm on the inside, so she didn’t care about the fact that she was missing a butt warmer.
Soon enough the boys slid into the car and Elain found Azriel pressing into her side, his arm slung over the back of the bench seat.
Elain hesitated for a moment before laying her head on his shoulder. She could practically feel him grinning at the contact.
The radio came on with the car and a warm burst of air came through the vent. Her eyes fell shut and she felt herself drifting away to the sounds of her family bickering and Nat King Cole’s voice crooning through the speakers.
She shifted more into Azriel, her body relaxing as she let herself fall asleep.

Cyncerity you’re giving me brainrot for your store shifter au
I have to admit most of your aus give me brainrot, the two main ones rn are Store shifter and dads troubles.
And feel free to disregard this if you don’t wanna answer it, I’m just curious if you have any tidbits about either au you wanna share? Let your mind go free friend :) I love your work, and you’re doing amazing!
oh absolutely AMAZING question to ask, my friend
little did you know that I have a list of bullet points for ideas i think of that i don’t know what to do with for both of these aus (these are also the two giving me the most brainrot hsksksj)
For now I’m gonna answer with the ones for the Store Shifter AU, cause I think that some of the ones for Dad’s Troubles have been posted, but I can post those later! For now there’s a decent amount of the Store Shifter ones, and I may add more later
-Even if humans can’t understand borrowers, they can hear pitch. So therefore, if a borrower is singing a familiar human song, the human can hear the tune and recognize it.
-Quackity is the least careful borrower of the three, so he ends up accidentally meeting one of the workers: Foolish. No he does not tell his fiancés this. Foolish doesn’t really know what’s going on, and he’s only like 50% sure that Quackity is sapient, so he’s just kinda along for the ride as Quackity abuses his human privileges to get free stuff.
-Dream introduces Sapnap to hair dye and dyes his hair from light brown to black as a bonding activity (this was when Sapnap was newer to the store). That night Sapnap tells his fiancés what happened to his hair and long story short Karl is bleach blonde by morning.
-Dream has an almost debilitating fear of heights in this au. Fantastic fear for anyone borrower sized to have. Since he became a shifter he’s started to try and rid himself of his fear. (spoiler alert he eventually does way down the road and parkours everywhere no matter what size he is just because he can)
-He’s also slightly claustrophobic. Again, fantastic fear for someone borrower sized to have. (wonder what this would mean for him getting stored…)
-Dream has never met Tubbo despite them having lived in the same house for 4 years. Even after Dream becomes a shifter Tommy just keeps forgetting to introduce the two.
-Out of all the shifters in the au (btw you don’t know all of them yet), the worst traumatic experience that anyone had to go through to unlock their powers was Tommy’s. Second worst was Sapnap’s.
-Tommy’s “incident” happened when he was 7. He met Tubbo when he was 5 and Tubbo was almost 6. After the incident, Tommy was in and out of the foster system for the next 5 years, and Tubbo was with him every step of the way.
-The reason Tommy was in the foster system for so long was because Dream was only 13 when Tommy’s incident happened, and couldn’t legally adopt him. He worked really really hard to get a stable wage for him and Tommy to live off of, and Puffy and Foolish helped him save enough to buy the neighboring house to theirs, the one Dream grew up in.
-Dream adopted Tommy on his 18th birthday, when Tommy was 12. They are currently 16 and 22 in this au.
-Before Dream adopted Tommy, he made it very clear that as soon as it was legal, he’d adopt him, so Tommy started seeing Dream as a big brother/father figure before he was officially his son. They hung out a lot and Dream would frequently stop by any home fostering Tommy and make it clear to the foster parents that Tommy was gonna be his kid one day so they’d better not get attached. Dream was responsible for getting Tommy kicked out of foster homes like 45% of the time. Another 50% was just Tommy being Tommy and 5% was Tubbo breaking shit when he was bored and the homeowners blaming Tommy.
-Sapnap has a really bad habit of picking at his fingers and nails from stress, and his knuckles are really scarred from fighting/sparring back when he was in a colony. Dream gives him a few pairs of gloves to help with this, and Sapnap is literally floored because he’s never seen gloves before, given that they were too much of a hassle to make from whatever scraps he had.
-The employees keep a little box of discreet fidget things under the checkout counter at the store, and Dream and Sapnap use it the most. Dream just cause he likes to keep his hands busy and can mess with something in his pocket and Sapnap cause if he’s using his hands it means he’s not actively picking at his skin (this is self projecting. this is me. i do this so it’s canon now. Dream uses an infinity cube most often and Sapnap has a small collection of spinny rings cause those have been the most effective for me).
-Sapnap had a weird bruise scar over his nose and around the inner half of his eyes (you can vaguely see it in some of the fanart i’ve drawn for this). It’s just an area of his face that got hit really hard and didn’t heal properly (hard enough that it broke his nose too and no, that didn’t heal right either), so blood has a harder time flowing there, and it gives it a weird darker color. Karl and Q nicknames Sapnap “Pandas” cause the bruising kinda reminds them of panda markings.
-Quackity tends to wear a face mask while borrowing because he’s got a really gnarly scar across the left bottom half of his face through his lip, and it’s bad enough that he can’t fully close that side of his mouth cause the scarring messed up his cheek and he’s missing a tooth there. He’s really insecure about it and only Sapnap and Karl are allowed to see it.

hot chocolate and pinterest boards
Pairing: romantic royality; mentioned brotherly moxiety and creativitwins
Word count: 681
cw: just pure, tooth-rotting fluff😆
Summary: Roman gets a bit overwhelmed with all the wedding planning — good thing Patton's around to help
fic for day 1 of @royalityweek ! this year i wanted to do something for most days, and thankfully ive managed it :D all the fics and art i make for this week will be in the same verse as milkshakes and checkered diners, showing various moments in roman and patton's life — they won't be in chronological order, but ill arange it that way on ao3 when all of them are posted
prompt: celebration/invitation
“Oookay, I think it’s way too early for that much pacing, mister.”
“Hm?”
Roman looked up from his binder as if broken out of a trance and Patton had to stifle a chuckle. Ever since the proposal, Roman had been swept up in a whirlwind of vision boards, checklists, and everything else wedding planning — that morning had been no different.
Though judging by the wild look in his eyes and how he dug his nails into the leather-bound cover, Roman probably would’ve paced their carpet to the ground if Patton hadn’t stopped him.
“C’mon,” he took Roman’s arm and gently pulled him towards the couch, carefully balancing the mug in his other hand.
“Alright, honey,” he said as he handed the other a cup of hot chocolate. “How about we put the binder aside for a little bit and you tell me what’s got you so nervous, hm?”
Roman sighed and pushed his hair back.
“Well- I was looking through some venues I thought were absolutely gorgeous, but then I realized to book a venue you need to know the amount of guests so I started writing down the guest list. But it’s been a while since I’ve seen everyone, and you know my family’s big, so I had to start texting people and figuring out how to send out the invites, and then my brother texts me and asks if I need help with the wedding planning, and I love Remus, you know that, but I have to give him something to do that won’t turn out a complete disaster and—”
“Okay, I think I see what’s going on,” Patton cut Roman off, putting a comforting hand on his shoulder. “I know you’re very excited about this, honey, but if you try to do everything at the same time you’ll tie yourself up in knots. You have a checklist, don’t you?”
Roman nodded, taking a sip of his drink.
“So let’s follow that, one thing at a time.” Patton smiled, opening the binder to the ‘to-do’ page and pointing to one of the first items. “Let me write down the guest list, with the addresses and everything, since that’s stressing you out. Then you can write and decorate the invites.”
“Are you sure?”
Patton chuckled, putting his hands on his hips.
“Honey, it’s my wedding too.”
“I guess so,” Roman rolled his eyes, though the sarcasm was broken by the snort that followed it. “…Sorry, darling, I really didn’t mean to exclude you, just— tunnel vision.”
“Don’t worry, I know how you get,” Patton teased, coming up to wrap his arms around Roman’s shoulders and nuzzle his cheek. “My beautiful fiancé with his head stuck in the clouds.”
In response, Roman stuck out his tongue adorably and Patton couldn’t resist pressing a kiss onto his hair.
“…And about Remus,” Patton said. “We could always send my brother to keep him on track. Should prevent any disasters.”
“If you think that’d prevent disasters you got another thing coming.”
“What? You think Virgil can’t handle wrangling your brother?”
Roman huffed.
“It’s not Remus I’m worried about.”
“…Is this about last halloween?”
“Your brother is a menace and you know it!”
He wasn't wrong, Patton had to admit that. When he and Roman started dating Virgil had, in true older brother fashion, antagonized Roman quite a bit, which ended up both parts sweet and infuriating. Though with time any animosity had morphed into his weird way of showing affection, which consisted mostly of texting Roman memes at 4 a.m, and making elaborate plans to scare the crap out of him.
So yeah, maybe Patton could see how setting him loose with chaos incarnate, Remus, might be a bad idea.
“… We’ll think about it. Now! How about you show me those pinterest boards you’ve got saved up?”
Roman smiled bright as day as he pulled up the pictures, and as he rambled about color schemes and decorations, all Patton could focus on was the radiant glow that shone through when Roman was in his element.
He really couldn’t wait to marry him.
AN: just for reference, this fic takes place about a year after patton has graduated from vet school, so about 6 and a 1/2-ish years after milkshakes and checkered diners
and if you're curious about the proposal, let's just say we'll see that ;)
