Yay, your recs are open! Hope you're doing great and your health is good :)
This one is pretty dark, so ignore this if smth!
If you know about Tomie, could you do some jjk characters of your choice with a darling with similar powers? Like, she can't die fully, always returns no matter how cruel was her death, and for some reason all non-sorcerers are going crazy after being in contact with her for a some time – and, maybe, at some point even a yandere starts feeling a strange need to cause harm to her. Bonus points if she gives femme fatale vibes, but actually is much sweeter and kinder person than she may look.
Thanks, and have a great day!
I hope you don't mind that I made the darling in here the curse of obsession because this would fit the theme very nicely and would crank the Yandere scale to an incredibly creepy level. I know a bit about her since my best friend is a huge fan of Junji Ito works and she especially adores Tomie and Uzumaki.

The curse of eternal obsession
Okkotsu Yuta
Tumblr media
💍Walking through the streets of Tokyo, no human would suspect you to be the cursed being that you are. Instead there is an aura of allure and mystery around you, something that seems to draw them to you like a moth to a flame. Bound to be consumed by the fire. Yet Yuta seems to bring a quick end to your life when he senses your eerie cursed energy. There are no words spared as he attacks you, your calm and beautiful face chilling as he exorcises you as if you have lived through death already multiple times before. Your face is something that seems to be stuck in his mind as it is the thing he sees as soon as he closes his eyes. It agitates him, disturbs him but he tries to calm himself by reminding himself that he has already killed you. Until he meets you again in the middle of the fight as you sit on the ground, surrounded by the blood of two men who have stabbed each other to death. When your eyes meet his own, there is the same serene look on your face as Rika brutally assaults you and Yuta watches how she tears you apart, a lump in his throat.
💍You should be dead. He watched how Rika murdered you. He even murdered you one time himself. Yet only a few days later you stand in front of him again, greeting him politely before you walk away, your hair swaying in the wind. Yuta can only watch you with a racing heart whilst you disappear in the crowd. A few days later he receives word that a group of friends were found all dead. The police suspects that all of them strangled and beat each other to death in violent ways that are rare to find and his mind immediately suspects you to be the culprit. Whenever you appear it only takes a few days before news about violent deaths and gruesome suicides appear on the news as your mere presence seems to drive non-sorcerers to madness yet he has seen with his own eyes that you seem to possess an immortality unlike anything he has ever seen. To protect the public from your cursed energy, he captures you the next time he finds you.
💍Yet when he tracks you down he is witness to a violent crime that would have made the average person empty their stomach. Even Yuta can't help the creeping feeling of horror as he watches a woman dismembering you with a saw before she cuts her own neck with the saw until she dies of blood loss. There is a strange sense of fury flowing through his veins as he collects every part of you, his heart clenching when he picks up your head with dull and lifeless eyes yet to his great disturbance even dismembered and dead, you still possess an attractiveness that he shouldn't feel about a violated corpse. He locks all of the parts away from you instantly and stays away from the room you are in to clear his mind and get away from the cursed energy you still seem to produce even in your temporary death. He can't get a wink of sleep that night as his heart never stops pounding nor does he seem to get your face out of his mind. When he gathers the courage the next morning to peek inside the room, his heart tumbles when he sees that you have regenerated and sit there completely naked, the sight of your body sending sparks of arousal through his body before he hurries up to give you something to wear.
💍He keeps you there, locked inside the basement and stays as far away from you as possible. He has never encountered a curse such as you that has affected him as greatly as you do and he has to fight constantly against the temptation to see you as he finds himself standing in front of the door separating you from him multiple times a day, his nails digging into his palms as he bites his lips until he can taste blood. Even when he is not seeing you, Yuta can still sense the cursed energy of yours that is wrapping itself around his body like a snake and as weeks pass by, he finds himself falling asleep to horrifying fantasies about you that have him waking up drenched in sweat and with a raging boner that only throws him down into a spiral of disgust, shame and insanity. Until one day after roughly three weeks your cursed energy disappears. He should feel relieved about it yet his heart drops with such intense anxiety that has him nearly ripping out the door leading to your room. As soon as he sees your thin and dead body laying on the ground, he feels something shattering as he suddenly bursts out in tears. He starved you to death.
💍He carries your light and thin body to his own bed and lays you down before he waits. He sits there and waits for hours in agony until your cursed energy picks up strength again and your body regains its healthy and otherwordly beauty. As soon as your eyes flutter open, Yuta's face is the first thing you sees. His heart starts beating with excitement as he tells you that he will prepare something to eat for you before he rushes to the kitchen. It is only after he has prepared the food and serves it to you that he realises what he is doing and for a short moment he feels a spark of hot wrath that you have reduced him to this yet when you open your mouth and he hears your voice for the first time, his anger melts away. It is a soft and sweet sound that echoes in his mind long after you have told him your gratitude for the food. An infatuated smile appears on his face as he watches you eat the food before he asks you if you would like to take a bath. The following days you suddenly get a lot more freedom, although you are still kept within the house but that isn't solely because you are a threat to non-sorcerers anymore. It is also because Yuta feels a possessive yearning to see you whenever he wants.
💍You are unlike any curse he has ever seen. Not only are you beautiful and gorgeous but you are also soft-spoken, kind and even somewhat shy. You help him with the household as you insist on showing your gratitude by preparing him meals and washing his clothes to the point where Yuta feels like you are his housewife and that image has his heart racing and his body reacting. You insist on sleeping on the couch when Yuta offers you to share a bed with him as you don't want to breach his private space and you reject it until he snaps at you with a frightening look on his face and a tight grip on your arms that could break bones. He instantly withdraws his hands when he regains his sanity and apologises hastily to you with tears in his eyes. He clings to your warm body at night, taking deep whiffs of your scent. Everything about you drives him crazy, the feeling of your skin against his electrical. There is a constant arousal keeping him half-hard at night as temptation grows stronger until he starts dry-humping against your thigh or ass, praying that you are asleep. Until you one night run your fingers soothingly through his hair whilst he is humping, causing him to let out a choked moan as he cums.
💍Yuta spends weeks on cloud nine as he fully indulges in everything. He treats you like his precious wife as he buys you cute dresses and even gifts you a ring which he insists for you to wear. You never deny him anything as you allow his touchy behavior as he holds your hands, kisses you and eventually even has sex with you and this fuels Yuta's delusion that you feel the same as he does. It is almost sickening how sweet he acts with you. All until one day he crosses paths with an acquaintance who knew someone who came in contact with you and when Yuta finds out that they know about your existance, he suddenly feels a feeling of paranoia about your safety as he suddenly sees this non-sorcerer as a threat to you. He feels the urge to call out Rika but decides to pry for information for now. They open up to him, perhaps because they just want to tell someone who shows interest as no one has believed them so far and the story that they tell him shatters his pretty delusion. They tell him how their dead ex-lover left them for you, abducted you and apparently even had sex with you and how they called them moments before they jumped from a building to tell them in tears that they ended up killing you.
💍Yuta lets Rika kill that person within the same day as a wrath has suddenly festered inside of him. At first he believes that they are lying because you only love him and you would never allow another person to touch you the same way he touches you. You love him. But when he sees their corpse, a realisation slowly settles in. You are a curse. A curse that has always driven people mad and Yuta is no exception. He's just killed an innocent non-sorcerer. And it's your fault. Disgust, pain and wrath cause him to spiral down violently as he all but storms back to his house to murder you and take revenge on you for deceiving and using him. When he arrives home, he finds you asleep on the couch and for a moment his eyes just take in your beauty as you lay there so innocently before his gaze zooms in on your neck. In the next moment he is choking you, his body on top of yours. Your eyes fly open as you start whining and choking whilst he is watching you with a dark glint in his eyes, taking in with joy your suffering form. Then your eyes meet his own though. No shock, ne fear, no guilt. Instead all he sees inside those orbs is acceptance and pity. You are pitying him.
💍It is this look in your eyes that throws him off as he lets go and stumbles away from you, staring at you with shock and agitation. Why are you giving him this look?! You don't say anything as you instead just give him a sweet smile that tears his heart open. What kind of monster are you to deceive him even now? You know how much he adores that smile of yours. He's on the verge of crying as he pulls out his katana to dismember you but then he suddenly freezes. His wrath dies down as he stares at the katana in his hands and his eyes widen as he drops it and sinks down on his knees as he suddenly becomes aware of his own horrifying thoughts he just had. He just looks at you for a few minutes before he suddenly bursts out in tears when he seems to realise something. That you never had any choice but allow people to do what they want to do with you. Your own curse brings you as much misery as everyone around you and your immortality forces you to endure it over and over again. You are a victim. He crawls back on top of you and apologises to you whilst his hot tears fall on your face, promises you in between sweet kisses on your neck that he will never harm you again.
Gojo Satoru
Tumblr media
🩵There you are, walking through the streets together with a man following you with infatuated eagerness as he constantly points at stores and offers to blow all of his money on you yet you only shake your head politely. Your cursed energy isn't oppressing nor is it filling the entire area but Satoru can sense how potent it is as he happens to be in the same area as you. He's currently there to buy something for his students when he senses you and blue eyes instantly race over the crowd to detect the source of it. An exceptionally beautiful man himself, even he can't deny your sheer beauty as he finally finds you. He watches as you point to a store selling candy and the man who is accompanying you eagerly nods his head before he rushes to buy you something. You seem to observe him for a while before you turn your head in an inhuman way and your own glowing eyes meet Satoru's as you have recognised his presence as well and want to let him know about it. Your cursed energy spikes and Satoru wonders if he will have to use his Domain Expansion if you decide to attack but you don't seem to plan on doing so as you crack your head back and wait with folded hands for the man to return.
🩵Something about you is off though, majorly off, so Gojo decides to follow you. You have clearly seduced the man who seems to be on all four for you and Satoru doesn't blame him. You are beautiful and gorgeous as even your cursed energy is tempting but that won't stop Gojo from exorcising you. He is even bold enough to approach you when your victim leaves you alone for a moment to murmur in your ear that you appear quite calm despite the fact that you know that he is following you. You only glance at him briefly and Satoru almost drowns in those enchanting eyes of yours before a loud yelling interrupts him. So lost was he in your gaze that he didn't even notice the man returning. If looks could kill, Gojo would have died thrice now as he can quite literally see the man shaking with rage and for a few seconds Gojo is convinced that he will come for his throat before the man just grabs your hand violently and drags you away. Blue eyes narrow as Satoru waits for a while before he decides to trail after you again. He suddenly has a bad feeling about this and eventually he finds out the apartment where the man apparently lives. He's already standing in front of the door when the commotion suddenly starts.
🩵Loud screams and wails belonging to the man are heard, crying out your name before they are followed by screams of pain and the shattering of a window. That's when Gojo breaks the door open and the scene he sees inside is not pretty. Shards of a broken vase are stuck in your neck and even your now deformed face and the shattered window is painted with red blood from the now dead man who must have hit his head against it until it broke and he died. Yet Gojo can still sense the cursed energy from you, can almost feel it crawling towards his own body. He watches your bloody form alarmed, something warning him that something truly isn't right with even though he can't figure out what it is. When he notices your fingers twitching and your body twisting, he acts quicker than he can even react as he kills you and senses your cursed energy vanishing completely. A few days later he decides to visit the graveyard of the man as he has for some reason not been able to forget about you. When he senses a familiar cursed energy though, he feels his muscles tensing as this shouldn't be possible. Yet there you are, kneeling in front of the graveyard.
🩵He is instantly behind you, throwing a shadow over you as his hands linger over your head as if considering to rip it off yet he doesn't as his eyes narrow in confusion and wariness. You are supposed to be dead. Why are you still alive? You lean your head back to look at him and only greet him politely before you arrange the flowers you have brought with you on the man's grave before standing up again and leaving. The white-haired man stops you though as he grabs your arm so tightly that your bone might break as he asks you how you are still alive. You cascade your gaze very shortly down to the ground, seemingly reminiscing about something, before you meet his intense gaze. He could swear that you almost look a bit sad as you merely tell him that you are eternal. You hold his gaze for too long until he feels threatened to get lost in those eyes again which causes him to let go of you. Blue eyes are glued to your form as you walk gracefully away, his eyes roaming over the shape of your body until he can't sense you anymore. Only then does he feel the urge to follow you die down a bit.
🩵He is almost ashamed of his own lack of self-control when he senses your energy a few weeks later again and the urge to see you again just takes over him. Truth is, he has been thinking about you a lot ever since. Your mysterious words have stuck with him as he has been trying to figure out what you meant and your hypnotising gaze has been following him in his sleep. He is shocked to find you though. Half-naked and with deep cuts littering your skin as you are held down by the neck as the man above you traces a long knife down the curves of your body. Briefly he is reminded of your deformed face and bloody body when he met you for the first time and suddenly rage starts to cloud his vision. A hot wave of jealousy falls over him for the way the man touches you so closely and ire takes hold of him for it looks like he is about ro rape you. Gojo knocks him instantly out, perhaps a bit too strong as blood starts seeping from his head. He quickly offers you the jacket he is wearing to cover your bare upper body with before he grabs your wrist and tells you that you'll come with him. You beg him to call an ambulance for the man before you come with him and Satoru is surprised to hear those words.
🩵He almost doesn't want the man to receive help but then he snaps out of it and gives you his phone to call the ambulance. It is strange that a curse wants to help a human, especially since that human looked like he was about to sexually force himself on you and kill you at the same time. You are indeed very strange and he finds himself looking at you the entire time out of curiosity and since your beauty is very outstanding. He should kill you but he has already tried this and somehow you just appeared again so he has a feeling that it wouldn't work even if he would try again. He doesn't want to kill you for some reason though. Instead he brings you to his home and tells you that he wants to keep you in here until he has figured out what you are and what to do to you. You give him a silent nod before you ask him if there is anything you can do whilst he keeps you here and this is not what Gojo expected to hear. You really are a peculiar curse. He monitors you very closely the following days as you walk around the house to memorise the interior and every room and whe he realises that you seem to have a love for books, he ends up buying you entire shelves worth of them. The giddy grin you give him has his heart pounding.
🩵You are well-read and seem to have existed for quite a long time already as far as Satoru can tell from the knowledge you share with him. As much joy as it gives him to see you happy, he starts feeling jealous that you spend so much time reading books. He wants attention, more attention than you already give him. It just isn't enough. It escalates very quickly when you one day ask him to wait until you have finished this book. Only a few pages are left yet somehow those words make Satoru snap as he snatches the book out of your hands and rips it apart. Blue eyes ablaze with agitation yet also a familiar look to you as he bends down so that he is on eye height with you. Hands grab your own harshly, squeezing them as he tells you in a low voice that he despises if you ignore him. You look into his gorgeous eyes, seemingly unfaced from the way he glowers at you before you carefully free one of your hands and reach tentavively out to touch his face. His Infinity is already deactivated, allowing you to touch his face. He lets out a satisfied hum as one of his hands grabs your one touching his cheeks, blue eyes gleaming as he looks at you.
🩵His Infinity around you is mostly deactivated as he encourages you to touch him as much as he is already touching you. Your touches are warm and addictive and he seemingly can't get enough of them. Often you find yourself trapped beneath him, his arms wrapped around your waist and his head on your chest. You sometimes asks him what he plans to do with you as he is a sorcerer and you are a curse yet he always shuts you up, mostly by kissing you to silence all of your sounds. He does know that technically he should find a way to exorcise you or to at least seal you away yet his whole body is filled with rage when he considers it. He has to keep you a secret from other sorcerers under all means necessary. Not only because of their demands but also because he fears that they would desire you too for your beauty and gentle nature. He notices that you never seem to protest or stop him whenever he becomes very touchy and as sick as that is, Satoru finds himself abusing this. Within a short time he is able to fully indulge in his desires as your nude body is pressed against his own, teasing you here and there as he claims you for himself. He has never seen someone more beautiful than you.
🩵Satoru is almost drunk on you and every word and gesture you do as he is convinced that he would kill anyone who would try to take you away from him. Yet the willingness of yours to let him do whatever he wants with you soon turns into a festering jealousy as he starts wondering if you allowed all the people before him to do everything to you as well. He shouldn't care considering that your curse seems to make people naturally obsessed with you and that he isn't the first and most likely not the last one yet he has already fallen under your spell. His heart threatens to burst as he realises that he will fade whilst you will continue. He won't let anyone else have you after him! You are assaulted by him whilst you are changing clothes, a desperate look in those blue eyes as he begs you to tell him how he can murder you as he tells you about his wish to kill you when his time comes so that no one else will be able to have you after him. When you confess to him that you don't know how you can die, you see the anger and madness flaring up in his eyes as if he is about to attempt to murder you again then and there before he manages to regain his self-control and tells you in a sweet tone that he'll find a way.

Naruto Uzumaki x Super Strength! Reader
Tumblr media
"Alright team 7, listen up." Kakashi had gathered the attention of Sakura, Naruto and Sai. Yamato was standing behind a girl with (h/c) hair, she wore a hidden mist headband. "In an attempt to strengthen our bonds with the hidden leaf we are doing an exchange program, meaning some of our ninja will be living in the hidden mist for the next few months." Yamato had droned on, going over how the program worked in too much detail. Thankfully Kakashi cut him off. "Anyways this is (Y/n), as you can see, she is from the hidden mist." The young woman wore a (F/c) kimono top with (2F/c) trim and tight ninja shorts, strapped to her side was a katana. Her (H/l) hair was neatly styled, her head band worn proudly around her waist. On the back of her top was a clan symbol, one that had Kakashi chuckling.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, lady Tsunade told me you'd be joining us." This had been Sakura; she had helped review profiles when selecting people to participate in the exchange. "That's cool, I can't wait to see you in action." This of course was Naruto, the bright smile he gave her made the cute girl smile slightly in return. "Thank you, I'll make sure I don't drag the team down." She bowed to the group, making everyone chuckle. "We have faith in your skills (Y/n), in fact why don't you demonstrate your skills with some light sparring?" This had been Kakashi's recommendation, his hand resting on her shoulder. She looked up at him with a bright smile, nodding her head.
"Alright, who should I spar with then Sensei?" Her head tilted cutely, nobody but Sai missed the blonde team member's blush. Though they all stayed quiet, making eye contact before giving subtle nods. "Naruto will be your partner." This made the male recoil, how could he hit the polite girl. She was kinda cute after all. "Are you sure Kakashi-sensei!? I don't want to hurt her!" That made the girl start laughing, Naruto simply giving her a confused look. "It's ok Naruto, I'll be fine I promise." (Y/n)'s voice was reassuring, making Naruto give in with a head nod. "Alright, but I'm not gonna hold back!" This made the mist kunoichi smile, nodding her head. Thankfully they were already in the training grounds, so all they had to do was stretch and get into position.
-
-
After battle (cause I'm not good at fight scenes.)
-
-
Naruto panted as he laid flat on his back, straddling him was none other than (Y/n). An iron grip held his wrists down, throughout the fight she had used taijutsu alone. A part of him was embarrassed, he had never been so physically dominated by anyone. Let alone a woman. He had landed maybe 3 hits; the young woman was barely breathing any quicker. Meanwhile Naruto was sore and hungry, but he was also amazed. She was a true kunoichi, strong in body and heart. Something about her soothed the sting of loss, even though he was physically disabled thanks to her overall strength. "Alright you two match is over, (Y/n) wins." Sakura had stepped in, helping (Y/n) and Naruto up.
"I hope I wasn't too rough, let me buy you lunch to make up for it." She turned to Naruto, giving him a sweet smile. The blonde was quick to smile back, scratching the back of his head as he placed one hand on his hip. "Sure, sounds like fun, if we are gonna be on a team, we gotta get to know each other." This had the others chuckling, all but Sai. The poor boy was still pretty awkward, so all he could do is look at them with confusion. Worrying that he may have to speak to Tsunade about a mandatory psych evaluation. "Since (Y/n) is still getting settled you can go ahead and give her a tour of the village as well."
This was Kakashi, even he could see the signs and being so heavy into his "romance novels" he wasn't going to miss the chance to help one of his students take some of his first steps into manhood. "Good idea Kakashi-Sensei, I know the village like the back of my hand." Naruto chuckled, standing beside (Y/n) and giving his friends such a pure look. Yamato stepped forward, drawing everyone's attention. "Well while you two do that I think Sai and I need to do some personalized training; I think everyone else has some stuff they need to do." He gazed over to Sakura and Kakashi, the two nodding in sync. "Alright if you guys say so, we'll catch up to you later." With that Naruto and (Y/n) parted ways with the group, the streets were a bit packed so he took the girl's hand with a smile.
“Heh, sorry it's a busy. I'd hate to get separated and you get lost your first day." His smile had the young woman's cheeks a light red, but she was quick to return it. "So, Naruto, why did you want to become a ninja?" She spoke from his side, their hands intertwined as they weaved through people on their way to Ichiraku's. "Well (Y/n) I want to be hokage one day, I'm gonna be the strongest." His smile had been so pure, his tone of voice so matter of fact. (Y/n) couldn't help but believe him, she had faith that he could reach his goal. "Heh that sounds cool, I just want to help bring peace to the village... We've only recently been able to pull away from the old ways, things are a bit chaotic. So, I want to help bring the village into an era of peace, it's nothing special but it's my goal."
Naruto turned to her with a smile as they got inside the ramen shop, gently letting go of her hand. She felt a little sad he let go, his hands were so gentle. "Well, I think it's an awesome goal, it's really selfless and I can understand why you'd want to achieve it. I'll help you whenever you need it, you just gotta have my back too." This brought a grin to (Y/n)'s face, she was nervous when she first got there. There was a lot of pressure on the ninja of the hidden mist, so to have someone believe in her and her dreams meant a lot. Even if he was a new friend, he was still a friend. "Sure, thank you Naruto. Now how about we eat, I'm starved." Naruto cheered, leading her over to some stools and telling her about all the different foods.
Neither noticed the 3 heads of hair poking out of a bush behind them; Kakashi, Sakura and Yamato were all watching the two. That was until Sai stepped in front of them, squatting down to be at eye level. "Sensei I've been looking for you, I've been waiting at the training grounds for a while now."

Verses I had for Chongyun before I moved him here. bonus: characters who also fall under these verses + more.
YAKSHA: chongyun is actually binarius, the missing cryo yaksha. sealed away by rex lapis in a moment of terror when all the other yaksha were falling apart/dying. the seals in place kept binarius alive, his power dormant. but it removed all his memories of being a yaksha. thousands of years later, the seals are breaking, and chongyun, is remembering his life as a yaksha. and doesn't know if he's chongyun or binarius anymore, or some mix of both. bonus: illuminated form is a huli jing, or a nine tailed fox.
ADEPTUS: chongyun took the trials to become an adeptus, a feet that hadn't happened in a long long time. with his own abode underneath mt aocang, chongyun's able to become an arctic fox. this verse is a little character specific. adopted officially by lapidex's rex lapis.
FATUI: chongyun went poking their nose into trouble because they thought the fatui would have some mystical magical cure for their yang energy. chongyun fell down a rabbit hole of lies and conspiracy and became one of them himself. now he's a fatuus with a code name (caesor) and takes orders from the harbingers. angsty verse, because chongyun is so completely dead inside and has lost all hope.
ABYSS: you thought chongyun is human? guess again. chongyun is actually a reincarnated bathysmal vishap who wants to go home. liyue is not home, they don't actually know where home is, aside from a strong desire to go back to inazuma. there's also that weird, bizarre sensation that the abyss order has things right, why are we fighting them?
SUMERU: nothing crazy, but chongyun moved to sumeru to pester their favorite people. cyno, tighnari, and more! lighthearted shenanigans afoot, including mysterious prank billboard notices. who'd ever suspect the innocent looking claymore user with the popsicle?
POPSTAR: chongyun is a heavily famous solo cpop artist. while chongyun loves the stage, loves to dance and sing, they also love their downtime, which includes lots of snacks and naps. wild on the stage, quiet in person. also, chongyun loves to collab with other artists. inspired by chongyun's drummer skin.
YANG DRUNK: just when the yang energy takes control, and chongyun is more unhinged/wild. chongyun tends to be more blunt and wild, gives zero shits about anything. though doesn't attack his friends, he's still slightly more ruthless. and he does remember his episodes when he comes out of it later on. much remorse is to be had.
MODERN: chongyun is a popular ghost hunter youtuber/streamer. ghosts are real, and he enjoys the spooks and delivering them to eager fans.
KAMI VERSION: kaminari works at a library and loves his job. he's a huge bookworm, and has recently started his own online career where he reviews books. turns out, people love that.
HSR: part of the xianzhou Alliance, divination section, chongyun prefers to stay behind the scenes and play video games. They take their job seriously of course, and help out if/when needed.
KAMI VERSION: kami is a hacker who's just as good as silver wolf. he found himself leaning toward kafka's ideals and sees her as the closest thing to an ally there is. there aren't many other options for a puppet on the run, especially when he's got encryptic information inside of him. at least the members of the express crew aren't bad.
SCI FI: part of a mysterious group known as ‘the exorcists’, codename demonbane is exceptionally skilled at tracking ‘ghosts’ or anyone who tries to hack/cause mayhem online. chongyun is the best there is and everyone knows his codename, but no one knows him. he likes it that way. to be changed with plotting.
TWINS: any verse where there are twins. chongyun/jiyu, kami/ren, kami/uzumaki, etc. if they are twins aus, they will be tagged here.
Tumblr media
OTHER VERSES:
KHAENRI'AH: albedo centric. takes place back in khaenri'ah days. can also include events and characters that also happened around that time period, give or take a couple hundred years.

fics of yours that lives in my head? bitch and stitch makes me smile SO MUCH. it's so cute, and as a knitter myself, i can relate to crafting being an outlet. that hero over there still slays me. izuku is the BEST thotty terror tank that ever haunted aizawa's everything, even if he should be immune to it from long time exposure thanks to his friend group. team uzumaki, 'cause you hit a lot, a LOT of the things i like. and it's lovely. and you also don't shy away from the all the bad crap. like yeah, there's stuff that would count as the 'for want of a nail' trope, (i mean this as a compliment, i promise) and you pull it off wonderfully and it hurts so well at times because it does hit, and it makes you think 'what if A, C, and G didn't happen, or were altered, and then D, F, and J, happen and wow that changes a lot of things'. (this also applies to Fox in Snake's Nest) you have naruto deciding to take matters in his own hands 'cause jiraiya is too busy fucking around (literally in some cases) to really teach him. you have him going "welp, nobody wants to stick around or treat me right, so obviously it's my fault, i'm gonna go 'cause they're too busy and i don't wanna interfere with that." which, ouch. and you give props to tsunade, who just says "here's the truth about your parents, and yes, we ARE related, but i didn't want to overwhelm you with that part." and he makes himself a disguise to avoid being found, to be able to even do the most basic fucking jobs in his village because nobody cares enough to see past the fox. and then you make me laugh 'til my sides ache, 'cause the summons, the sasuke torture, the gremlin kids and the bigger gremlin kid that's their sensei, his cousin who's an honorary auntie, plus anko who's also like an honorary auntie, and the shenanigans. rip konoha. it's great. :D and then. then you hit me with fatigue fractures. and my heart went 'ow.' because you have izuku still having to deal with bakugou's bs and the teachers thinking nothing of it 'cause they don't really have all the pieces, they think 'rivalry' and shoto going "yeah no, i see what's really happening, cause i lived through it firsthand. and i ain't standing for it, so i'mma step up and i'm gonna be on izuku's side if nobody else will." also the fact that izuku disconnected so BADLY after the exam really hit home. and the decision to leave, because 'fuck this noise, i'm going to take care of ME for a change, i want to HEAL and i can't do that here.' and shoto going 'welp, i'm along for the ride if you'll have me'. and izuku saying 'alright, but i got a lot of secrets, a big heavy story to share, and if you wanna back out that's fine'. and of course, shoto's ride or die. "i'mma break bakugou's legs next time and also try to kill all might." "SHOTO NO." "SHOTO YES." last but not least, even though, again, i don't go there, the TASEA AU STILL HAS ME IN STITCHES. just two dudes wanting a break, taking one, having the time of their lives, and their respective future boyfriends pitching an ALMIGHTY HISSY FIT ABOUT IT. meanwhile the rest of the mafia is like 'damn, how out of touch are we that it's come to this.'

forgiveness is not a gift; you can’t touch the hurt i have
series: naruto
ship: sakura x sasuke
summary: he has been everything to her. she has been nothing. in which sakura might not forgive sasuke.
(also on wattpad as forgiveness is not a gift by jjkbambi)
TEN TEN AND SAI HATE SASUKE.
It’s kind of funny. Sasuke does not think about his peers nearly as much as they think about him — there’s a possibility he does not think about them even a little bit, not even at all.
Naruto always comes to his defense in these conversations, because Sasuke is his friend. He sees Sasuke, and he feels fairly certain that Sasuke sees him too.
Sakura has grown quiet in his defense throughout the past year. Yes — once, he was good. Sometimes, though rare, he was even good to her. But it’s harder to look up now.
Though, nobody can do anything about Sai. He is artistic in all ways, including his colorful language. Over the last minutes of their dinner, he asked, “Did you hear the Traitor got released today?”
“Sai—“ groaned Ino. So close! They were so close to getting through one night without mentioning him. “Wait, what’s your last name? Do you have a last name?”
“No I do not.”
“Think about that before you think about Sasuke,” Ino said. She put a hand over Sakura’s pale hand and looked at her friend with a triumphant smile.
The pinkette’s expression turned sour. How many times had she watched Ino do that? She frowned, then chose her next words carefully. “You can do whatever you want, you guys.” Sakura said. “Don’t worry, I’m not Naruto.”
It felt dumb to say it. I’m not Naruto. That’s glaringly obvious. If I was Naruto, I’d be with Sasuke right now. I’d be accepted. It would be glaringly obvious I was his friend.
It was always that way, Uzumaki Naruto and Uchiha Sasuke. Haruno Sakura was the seat-filler. The only reason why she needed to be with them back then was because three-member teams were requirements. She was lucky in a way that wasn’t divine or powerful. She simply sat beside the powerful — she was the third, the girl of the group, the healer. It was useless to be angry about it, she knew that. She brought herself up in ways Naruto and Sasuke couldn’t. She could do things Naruto and Sasuke couldn’t. Yet alongside their names, Haruno Sakura seemed remarkably small.
For the first time, Sakura allowed her friends to hear her inner workings. She told them, "I don't really know if I'm Sasuke's friend anymore."
“Of course you’re friends,” Ino chimed in — now the only one in his defense. “Otherwise, what was this all for?”
The question has been ringing in her head for three days, seven hours, and eight minutes now. She doesn’t even remember how she answered — probably some made-up bullshit about justice or Naruto’s loyalty, whatever it was, she didn’t mean it. She stays up at night and stirs her bedsheets because she has no idea why she would do anything for Uchiha Sasuke.
Well, to be fair — of the many people Uchiha Sasuke has wronged, she was one of the rare who got an apology. He even said thank you once, as well. Perhaps his small words could make up for her battle wounds. Perhaps “I’m sorry” was enough.
She stirs, then stirs again.
The name Uchiha Sasuke has always been a difficult one.

Random Naruto AU musings/fanfic ideas incoming:
OK so, I was listening to Naruto theme songs in my room via speaker to drown out the sounds of my mother/housemate having a private appointment downstairs via zoom. (As you do)
And I started to think of how Asuma's death kind of represented a turning point where the konaha 12 are not kids anymore, things are getting serious, main ensemble members are drying, ect.
And I thought, the other thing like that in the original series was the death of the third homage. Exept even that didn't hit as hard because he was old and stuff. Then I realized one big opportunity lost with his death: the person was likely to maybe someday tell Naruto the truth of his parents, especially since he's the one who made it classified in the first place.
Here's where the AU comes in: I was trying to think of scenarios in which the third would have allowed Naruto to know about his parents during the time before the thirds death, and had a thought: there's a bunch of fics out there of Wave having some connection to hidden Whirlpool village, Uzushio, either neighbors or even that they were protected by/allied with Uzushio before the village destruction.
So what if, during the wave arc, Tazuna and the other villagers reacted when they heard Naruto's last name, being overjoyed to hear that at least one Uzumaki survived. Being hush hush about it because they don't want Gato to know because having an Uzumaki present threatens his standing.
Eventually they get Naruto alone with some of the older villagers who express their relief and exitment that there are still surviving Uzumaki after the destruction of Uzushio.
Naruto is so confused, poor kid. These old people are almost acting like he's some long lost relative or something, something about his last name, the destruction of some place called Uzushio? And what's this about asking about his family? Are all these old people senile and mistaking him for someone else?
The villagers confirm his last name is Uzumaki, and that they are talking about his clans home village of Uzushio, which was destroyed during the last war. What do you mean you've never heard of it? Is your ancestral homeland surely your parents would have mentioned it.
And then they learn that he's an orphan left all alone in the world, nothing of his family save his name and the symbol on his back. He tries so suggest that maybe he's not related to those Uzumaki, only to be rebuffed by a team of geriatrics, each pointing out some innocuous feature they swear is an Uzumaki trait, from his speech pattern and large amount of Chakra, to his ears and his chin.
By the end a group of Wave villagers old enough to remember Uzushio in its prime have mentally adopted Naruto and started telling him stories of Uzushio and the Uzumaki Clan, even trying to determine who he might be related to.
Eventually an old woman remembers a friend of hers, who's daughter was sent away to Konoha years before the attack, to be a Konoha ninja. they figure that must have been his mother, and naruto puts together that he was born around the same time as the nine tails attack of the village and they come to the conclusion that his mother probably died in the attack, weakened from childbirth, maybe even dying to protect her baby, and that he must not have had a dad in the picture for him not to be claimed afterwards.
Maybe they even introduce him to a village elder who's actually an Uzumaki and married into Wave decades ago, even long before the attack, and as she took her husband's name and wasn't a ninja, no one caught on. Maybe it Turns out to be his great aunt or something.
I'm imaging the bridge being named something representing the return of the Uzumaki clan.
Also, when the missions over and is time to return to Konoha, the entire village of Wave tries to fight for custody, especially his Great Aunt, who insists on accompanying them back to Konoha to interrogate the Hokage as to her grand nephew's treatment.
Maybe his newly found great aunt or distant cousin decides to move to Konoha, maybe with a bunch of her kids and grandkids giving Naruto a bunch of cousins. Or maybe he just gains a single elderly Uzumaki refugee from Wave.
I feel like Sasuke would be pretty mad/offended on narutos behalf over having the knowledge of his family hidden from him, since at least Sasuke has his memories and his clans belongings.
It'd be pretty funny if however many Uzumakis end up in the village, they all more or less adopt Sasuke as well as Naruto.

Steady heartbeats and the songs of the morning birds echoed throughout the secluded cave like a beautiful xylophone as Nagato held you within his warm embrace. The two of you had been caressing and touching each other all morning since Yahiko and Konan left just a little over an hour ago. Your relationship was still a secret from your friends, mainly for Nagato’s sake - you desperately wanted to tell Konan, if only for advice on how to navigate the rocky waters of a new relationship - but you were happy to do it for him, all things considered.
It was a little over a year ago now when you first met the gang. You had been searching for scraps in a garbage can in the city when the overly friendly Yahiko approached you with a heel of bread and a grin.
“Here,” he said, “You can have mine.”
“Yahiko!” Nagato protested, coming forward from the shadows. “You need to eat.”
Yahiko laughed and shook his head. “Nah, I’m good. Really.” He closed your fingers over the bread and smiled down at you with a wink.
You watched the three of them turn to walk away as your stomach rumbled angrily, tears welling in your eyes. It had been a long time since someone had shown you kindness, even longer since a stranger did, and now here were three of them doing just that. You ran forward, trying to call out to them but your voice was barely above a whisper from the desert dryness of dehydration. Nagato turned around, his face soft but his eyes weary. You gulped and stopped dead in your tracks, mesmerized by his striking stormlike eyes and dazzling red hair.
“I-” You paused, gulping down your fear. “I can get my own. Thank you, but I can’t take this.” You pushed the bread forward to Nagato and bowed your head, shame lacing its way up your spine. Did you truly look that starved? It had been awhile since you’d seen yourself in a mirror, yes, but you didn’t think things had changed that much.
“Yahiko is right,” Nagato said. “Please, take it.”
It was a few days after that when you ran into Nagato again, only this time it wasn’t nearly as happy of a meeting. He saved you from a rogue nin who was trying to rob you - why he targeted you was unclear; it was evident that you had no money, but these were desperate times - the last thing you saw before your mind went black was a blur of energy. You awoke in an inn, surrounded by the group. You scrambled up, noticing your right side had been poorly bandaged, and Nagato’s gentle hand gripped onto your shoulder. You met his sad eyes and he smiled at you before helping you lay back down.
“Rest here with us,” he whispered. “We’ll help you.”
The three of you formed a strong friendship after that and the idea of you not sticking around with them was never once brought up, despite your lack of ninjutsu. It was obvious they had accepted you as part of the pack, and your heart soared with happiness and an ethereal radiance from then on.
“You look so pretty when the sun kisses your body,” Nagato murmured against your shoulder, his head resting in the crook of your neck. You kissed his crimson hair and continued tracing his slender hips with your index finger, humming contently as you leaned into him. “My dear.. Do you mind if I kiss you?”
Your heart skipped several beats as the cave air suddenly became more chilled than before; the warm pile of blankets beneath you suddenly uncomfortably hot. Nagato pulled his head back to give you a quizzical look as he brought your hand between your bodies to give it a chaste kiss. The two of you had kissed before - very briefly, and only a few times - but your pounding heart made you weary about your own self-control. Would you be able to kiss him gently when his hands were caressing into the dip of your hips; his soft hair tickling your shoulders; his kind mouth loving you fully?
“Nagato,” you said shakily, “Are you certain? We don’t have to. I’m happy to just snuggle.”
He gave you a blank expression as he drew lazy patterns against your back with his index finger. Hazy hurricane pools of purple watched you intently, drowning you in an endless lavender lake. “I’m sorry,” his voice was soft. “We don’t have to.”
“No!” Nagato gave you a small smirk as your voice squeaked. “I-I would like that.”
Electricity coursed in the air around your bodies as Nagato pulled you forward, his hand against the small of your back as he brought the other to caress your cheek, goosebumps rising on every part of you that he touched. He rested his forehead on yours, his cool breath tingling your skin as his nose brushed down your own. “You’re sure?” He asked.
Time stood still as you nestled closer to him, feeling his heart racing beneath your palm as you pressed it to his slender chest. “Y-Yes.”
His lips enveloped yours, warmth spreading down your neck and straight to your stomach. Every inch of you felt as though it were bursting in flames as he tilted his head to the side and kissed you with the force of the ocean; a powerful current pulling you deeper to the dark depths. You moaned into his mouth as you gripped onto his shirt, desperate to pull him closer to you despite the lack of space between your bodies. He hummed as he ran his tongue along your lower lip and you gasped, allowing him to suck your tongue between his lips.
You pulled back, breathless and hazy. Nagato’s body was gently trembling and you gave him a soft smile as you ran a shaky hand down his slim stomach. He kissed your cheek, then the side of your mouth, slowly trailing his mouth to your earlobe as you shivered.
He pulled back gently and looked at you with stormy eyes. “I’m sorry,” Nagato readjusted himself so you were cradled to him like a child, your face nestling against his chest as he rested his chin on the top of your head and wrapped a leg over yours. “I didn’t mean for it to be too much.”
“It’s not that,” you allowed your hand to roam to his arousal, feeling the stiffness through his pants and causing heat to pool between your legs, “It’s just… where’d you learn to kiss like that?”
Nagato chuckled, his warm breath tickling the top of your head as you felt his body stiffen and you grabbed onto his clothed cock. You couldn’t help it. The two of you had been keeping things very minimal these past few weeks, but his newfound confidence and that kiss sent pops of electricity to your brain that you could no longer ignore. You craved him like a drug.
Your movements were slow as you languidly pumped along his length through his pants, placing gentle kisses along his collarbones and listening to the sound of his gentle moans. Nagato’s hands roamed between your bodies, slender fingers swiping over your perky nipples through your t-shirt. The air in your lungs rushed out of you as you sucked his pale skin between your teeth and whimpered, thankful you hadn’t yet put on a bra as his deft fingers prodded at your puffy peaks. The cave filled with lewd sounds; the melodic drips of water tingling your brain as you thought about how wet you were, how easily his dick would slick into your walls as he thrust deeper into you.
“I’m a virgin, not a prude.” Nagato joked as you continued writhing around, tracing your thumb across his tip and wishing to feel his sweet precum seep between your fingers. “Besides,” his voice was dripping with desire, nearly unrecognizable to you as he pinched your cloth-shielded nipples with his thumb and forefinger. “You must forgive my lips, for they find pleasure in the most unusual of places.”
You whined - actually whined - and jerked your hips in a sharp, uncontrolled movement. His arousal caught your clit and for a moment, you forgot where you were as you cried out nonsense. Nagato allowed his fingers to circle around your nipples as he followed your movements and gyrated his hips towards you, biting down on his lower lip at the contact. He could feel warmth spreading throughout his stomach as the two of you continued grinding against each other to a nonexistent beat; a clumsy rhythm that still left you gasping for air.
Trembling hands moved their way down your body, across your stomach, inching closer and closer to your pants. The world around you became blurry and dreamlike as Nagato’s finger worked itself to wrap under your waistline, tickling the tiny hairs of your pubes as he murmured something about wanting to touch you.
Never before had he experienced this rush of emotion. He watched the way your body reacted under his touch; pleading yet soft, desperate yet powerful. It caused his soul to erupt into a burst of desire. Nagato felt liquid seeping into his boxers, the wet fabric uncomfortably becoming ever more tight as your small hand worked along his arousal. He wanted you, but he didn’t know what he should do next. The fear of making the wrong decision overwhelmed him, so he relied on his instincts and bucked his hips towards you again, a thin sheen of sweat coating your forehead at his movement.
“Nagato,” you whispered, your voice scratchy. “W-We’ll get caught. Yahiko and Konan, they’re-”
“Gone for the morning,” Nagato stated, his voice uncharacteristically commanding. “Per my request.” His finger gently tugged down the waistband of your pants as you shuffled, arching your hips up to help him gain more leverage. Nagato’s breath caught in the back of his throat as you rolled your body onto his, kissing down his jaw to his neck as your hips arched into his, your hand still gently stroking along his length.
“Let me touch you,” you breathed, slowly unzipping his pants. His body froze as you pulled out his cock, seeing the way his pink tip curved slightly to the left for the first time, examining the way it bounced against his stomach as it sprung free. Every inch of your body jolted as Nagato moaned, a sound so sweet to your ears you felt every part of your body shiver. His eyes were wild with an emotion you had never seen on his face; his bottom lip sucked between his teeth.
Lissome hands tugged your pants and panties down, forcing you to adjust your hips to catch your clit against his erection one more time as you kicked the clothes away. It burned deep into your core, igniting red hot flames within your chest as you pulled your shirt off, unable to handle the skinless contact for a moment more.
Nagato followed your lead and removed his shirt, exposing his slender and pale chest fully. The sunlight shining in through the cave entrance glistened off his toned muscles, enveloping him in an ethereal glow as you wildly helped him remove his pants. His entire body was taut as he traced circles over your hard nipples, carefully but intently, his eyes firmly fixed on your soaked pussy.
“How long were you planning this?” You asked, enjoying the way his hands felt on your chest. Nagato cleared his throat as he slid a hand down the length of your stomach and circled across your swollen folds, slick juices trailing behind his finger.
“A-A little while.” He admitted shyly, his face growing red as a rose. Your brain went blank as he slipped the tip of his finger inside you and hovered under the hood of your clit, grazing against your swollen nub. “Wow, you feel…”
The sound of your shrill whimper made him stop. He, admittedly, hadn’t done much research about what comes next - he wanted to, he really did, but his lack of money prevented him from doing much more than observing what other couples did while they were out in public together - and Yahiko was hardly any help at all, either. He told him about the basics, where to touch you and where to put his mouth on you, but other than that, he simply said to “just go with the flow” and right now, the flow was telling Nagato to thrust into you like a wild animal. Based on your rippling body and breathless pleas, though, he was starting to doubt if he was doing any of this correctly. Had he hurt you? Oh, no.
“My dear,” Nagato said softly, pulling his finger from your dripping heat and gripping his hands onto your thighs, rubbing soothing circles into your flesh with his thumbs, “Did that hurt? I’m sorry. I-I should have asked first, but-”
Your sweet lips silenced him, pressing firmly to his own as your tongue writhed its way into his mouth and traced his teeth, soft groans of pleasure encouraging him through his worries. Nagato’s nails dug into the plump flesh of your thighs and you rolled your hips over him, desperate for any and all contact. You moved your hand to grip onto his girth and slowly kissed your way down his neck, across his chest, down his slender stomach, and hovered just above his rosy head.
“Do you trust me?” You whispered, slowly wrapping your hand around his length and swiping your finger across the slit of his tip. Even just his head felt delectable, pearlescent precum dribbling down your fingers and to his red curls of hair. You hummed, pumping with more pressure, watching as Nagato’s head fell back instinctively.
“Y-yes,” he breathed. “Of course I do.”
“Then just relax.” You wrapped your mouth around him, moaning against it as you sucked the head of his cock. Nagato jerked his hips up, gagging you harshly. You pulled back but continued pumping at him while his apologies slowly dissipated into low grunts of pleasure, his legs trembling. You used your free hand to place his hand on the top of your head as you sealed your mouth over his cock again, this time throating him deeper, your thumb tracing along the thick vein on the side of him as you felt more clear liquid slink onto your tongue.
A laugh broke out of him and tumbled into a low groan as you swirled your tongue in a lazy circle around his head. You hit a point under his slit that caused Nagato’s hand to grip more tightly onto your head, pushing you down enthusiastically. You pressed the flat of your tongue to that spot again and stars formed in his vision as his cock throbbed against your hand. He had a slight tang to him; a light saltiness that flowed down your throat almost too quickly for you to notice before it was gone.
“If you don’t stop-” Nagato panted, “I-I think I might…”
You pulled your mouth off his cock just to hear him whine and very deliberately ran your tongue from the pad of your index finger to your thumb and back. Nagato watched you, unblinking and laser focussed onto your tongue like it was the next messiah, his hand clenched into a fist on top of your head. With your slick fingers, you circled the tip of his cock slowly, watching as Nagato’s eyes stormed with a burning desire laced with curiosity. You felt almost bad, teasing him like this, knowing he had no way of articulating what he wanted or needed from you; he was totally at your mercy.
And merciful you were. “You know,” you hummed, placing a kiss to his head as more precum slipped out, catching on your already glistening lips. “It’s okay to finish in my mouth. I want you to.”
You wrapped your mouth around him again, this time intent on tasting all of him. Nothing even resembling words came out of Nagato; just half-formed syllables and groans that fell off into silence. You let your tongue play over his tip, over his slit, over every curve and ridge of him. He thrust into you, starting to learn where he wanted you to be, and hot tears welled in your eyes as you took all of him happily, allowing him to hit against the back of your throat. It didn’t matter that you couldn’t breathe easily, or that he held your head down with confidence and allowed you to choke on him, at all. What mattered was that Nagato was nothing more than a puddle of sensation and need.
Just like you.
You moved your hand from him and circled over your clit, allowing yourself to give into the temptation of needing something, anything, to touch your most sensitive area. You groaned against his cock, sending deep shivers from his crotch to his chest. You were so wet just from blowing him as you moved your fingers down your cunt and slipped easily between your walls, curving upwards to your sweet spot.
White noise surrounded you as Nagato babbled something; words that were barely distinguishable amongst the shrill squeal. Endearments or curses, you had no idea - and after a few seconds of trying to catch your breath as Nagato continued fucking into your mouth, you didn’t care.
The sounds that echoed around the cave walls were filthy; wet slurping, your moans around him as you brought your thumb to gently wiggle your protruding clit from side to side, your gasps when you managed to breathe. You couldn’t swallow, your chin and neck were slick with the mixture of your combined fluids - and you were hot, so hot you could barely think. In that moment, a single thought enveloped the both of you: that you had all of him, and he had all of you.
That shared thought was the tipping point. Nagato’s voice broke open an instant before his thrusts stuttered, a deep rumble that you had never heard him make as the air between you shivered. His hands gripped your hair hard enough to hurt before they fell away. You felt the first pulse at the base of his cock and sucked harder, pushing down until you’d swallowed him as far as you could.
The burst of hot fluid hit the back of your throat, tangy and thick - and so much more than you anticipated. You choked and pulled back, careful of your teeth, just in time for the next rush to hit against your chest. A white-hot sheet of pleasure rushed away any thoughts from your head as he kept coming - you were a mess: a sweaty, flushed, half-delirious mess. You grinned down at him as Nagato’s breathing returned to normal and he looked at you with a bemused expression.
“A-Are you alright? That was…” His cheeks flushed pink and he averted his eyes from you, glancing at your hand that had stopped working at your clit in the mix of the chaos of his come. “Do you need… assistance?”
You gave him a wicked grin as you nuzzled into his chest, sticky mess be damned, and kissed his collarbone. “In a minute,” you whispered as he wrapped his arms around you. “For now, let’s just sit in the afterglow.”

OC-TOBER DAYS 2-4 (commentary about each character under the cut)
2: NEW OC - Luo Yuqing
Tumblr media
3: OLD OC - Tess (joint effort between @millidew and I)
Tumblr media
4: REDESIGN - Sanya Harris
Tumblr media
Day 2 - new OC: technically Xiang Wanyi is my newest OC but he was Day 1, so I’ll just do my second-newest. for a long time, Luo Yuqing didn’t really get much character development from me. from the onset, I knew I wanted a character like Song Riyuan as the protagonist of this OC universe. SRY needed a friend of some sort but I didn’t really have a clear-cut idea, so I just quickly scribbled in LYQ’s design without thinking much about it and made their concept “cloud recesses wangxian but lesbians.” so for a while, LYQ has just been “what if Lan Wangji was a girl?”
after fleshing out SRY a bit more though, I figured LYQ deserves some more actual thought from me too, so she has this sort of inverse character development thing with Riyuan. Waymond Wang in Everything, Everywhere, All At Once has a quote that lives rent-free in my head: “When I choose to see the good side of things, I’m not being naive. It is strategic and necessary… This is how I fight,” and “We have to be kind. Please, be kind.” This is SRY’s mentality at the beginning of the story. LYQ has a more cynical worldview: sometimes kindness hurts more than it helps. It’s more similar to Megumi from jjk’s “who’s to say that someone you save won’t kill anyone in the future?”
not going to get too much into plot, but over time, stuff happens and the two begin to slowly swap ideologies. after a time skip, LYQ has basically SRY’s original mentality, while SRY has taken on LYQ’s. I get so excited just thinking about how they’d interact when they meet again—they’re still so, so important to one another but there’s this distance now that they’re not sure how to navigate. to SRY, her old mentality was the reason why she wasn’t able to keep the two of them from being separated—she hates that part of herself. to LYQ, her memories of SRY were what got her through everything—she takes on that ideology as a sort of homage initially, but grows to believe it completely. there’s so much fun potential here for different situations.
I’m just going to try to describe her in a sort of stream of consciousness way. overall, LYQ makes me think of the North Star—always there, always constant, never wavering. basically, she doesn’t give up ever. not in a Naruto Uzumaki bold, confident kind of way, but in the same way Sisyphus keeps pushing that boulder, slowly but surely, over and over again. Luo Yuqing’s character is like the way waves against cliffs over the course of centuries can turn rock to sand. not sure how much this makes sense, but these are the types of associations I have in my mind with her. the vibes, if you will. she’s very fun to think about, now that I have more of an idea of what she should be.
Day 3 - old OC: Tess is the very first OC I ever made, before I even knew what an OC was. she’s a group project of a character, so I guess Millie and I have shared custody. she’s very edgy, very cringe, and was very fun at the time to make. I don’t think I ever drew any ref art of her, so this is just a drawing that I made today of what I remember her looking like. Tess is so funny to me because I remember thinking, “if she’s an assassin, she can’t be 12, because I’m 12, and 12 is too young to do anything like that. she can be 13 though.”
I drew her with her manic pixie dream girl traveling companion Sel, since I didn’t want to separate them!
I think Tess & Sel’s creation was a formative time in my life because this is basically how I make every OC now. they always come in pairs—their personalities are developed around one another, so I almost never make individual OCs. you can pretty much group all my OCs into two: Luo Yuqing & Song Riyuan, Qin Tianxiao & Xiang Wanyi, Haneul & Anna, Zach & .Soren, Atlas & Louisa, etc. If a character on my Art Fight doesn’t have an obvious foil, it’s most likely just because I haven’t drawn their ref sheet yet. anyway, I just think it’s funny how that moment in my life influenced my entire creative process, even now. if you spend enough time looking at my OCs, there are definitely clear patterns that I tend to follow though!
Day 4 - redesign: another part of my OC creation process is when I scrap certain universes, I try to reuse the characters if possible. either I’ll essentially blend them up with another character to create someone new or I’ll just stick them in a brand new universe. Sanya Harris initially was a best friend/sidekick-type character in an urban fantasy monster-hunting OC universe that I’ve abandoned. (like all of my other OCs, she had a partner OC too, but he’s been recycled into Zach lol). she was a college student working a part-time job as a motel receptionist in rural Kansas. now, in her current backstory, she lives in California and is a teenager going to summer camp. this whole situation is very funny to me.
actually, a lot of my OCs would fit for the “redesign” prompt because all of the recycled ones are basically redesigns. for example:
Tumblr media
let’s compare the art I drew of Tess to Haneul’s original design from 2021. “they’re the same photo” meme etc, etc.
their personalities are very similar too—they’re basically the same person. again, I find this hilarious, but yeah, there are definitely character archetypes that repeat in my OCs that are easily identifiable if you’ve been watching me make a lot of them over the years.

I was thinking how to arrange the events of the Diamond Girls au, now that I've decided that Madara is not in the frame and neither is anything related to Kaguya.
First of all, that means Akatsuki is free to be a group searching for peace within all nations and doesn't have to play the villain role, while able to still play as the antagonists. I want it to be less extreme than in the manga/anime, but still show the conflict of violence in the search for peace.
Rin is alive, right? So I like the idea of Obito still snapping and joining Akatsuki, because he wants to fix the world and make it a better place, for Rin, for Kakashi. But if Madara isn't controlling him, then who killed Minato and Kushina? Who is playing the puppeteer?
Well, we know about the Uzumakis genocide and we know Konoha was planning to do the same to the Uchihas, so I said okay, why not go directly to the point and make the big big conflict of the Diamond Girls au about how the Hidden Villages like their clans strong 'til they are strong enough to overrule them and their authority.
I said from the beginning that I want the au to focus on the normally invisible parts of the story. I don't want to tell the story through the main events, like Naruto unraveling the thread of Konoha's corruption and realizing the depth of his Konoha's betrayal to the Uzumaki clan, or like Sasuke agonizing over the political tension regarding his clan and the fact Itachi joined Akatsuki.
If the hypocrisy of the Hidden Villages is the main problem, I can also do cool things like frame Orochimaru assassination of both the Kazekage and the Hokage in a grey light. It was murder, yes, but he also took the lives of two of the most corrupted leaders around. I can make the Konoha Council try to frame Tsunade as part of the conspiracy along with Orochimaru, allowing Danzo to become the next hokage, forcing the Uchihas to go after the last Senju and her apprentices or go all against Konoha, which would justify their later destruction. I can even twist the story and involve Jiraiya in all of it, 'cause Akatsuki helped Orochimaru and Jiraiya unknowingly had played the part helping Nagato, Yahiko and Konan escape. A real mess.
I can depict the conflict of Sasuke realizing he doesn't want to be a cop 'cause he doesn't want to blindly follow orders, he doesn't want to feed that oppression machine. I can finally involve Naruto with his Uzumaki heritage and say Konoha killed Minato because he wanted to restore the Uzumaki clan in Konoha and I can do justice to Kushina, the woman who knowing the stakes, decided to hide clues for her son to find, decided to build him a whole spy network and a trust circle he could lean on when the time came. Even if they killed them, they could not defeat their son.
And in the middle of it all, our girls.
Hinata having no room to do anything else but turn into politics and struggling to find the words that would help her survive. Ino shouldering the weight of being the heiress of her clan but refusing to let it be all she is, refusing to allow a job to become her life. Tenten being forced to marry Neji so no one can touch her and hating it as much as Neji does, not because they don't love each other, but because they hate how people reduces Tenten for it, while also enduring the Hyuga treatment, rooting and plotting on how to dismantle the structure of that rotting clan with Hinata. Sakura realizing that being a medic with a good heart is something really dangerous in a world full of violence and malice, worse even when she's the spiting image of the woman Konoha has wanted to break or kill now for many many years; she doesn't have the pedigree of a clan, Sasuke and Naruto and Kakashi can't protect her if they are fighting their own battles, she can only run and hide in Suna with Chiyo and hope for the right moment to come back and help her friends fix the whole mess (meaning try to keep them alive as the fight the system suffocating them).
But more than anything, I want the readers to notice how no one really looks at all these girls in Naruto, and how perfect is that set up for a story of political intrigue.

A Proper explanation for my ADA!Chuuya (+ others) AU
The base premise is that when Dazai left the Port Mafia, Chuuya left with him, but I did some shuffling of the order of events (mainly cause I love found family and drama), so that + other details are under the cut.
Plotline:
Right after the Dragon’s Head Conflict (lets ignore Stormbringer for now, I’ll fit Verlaine and the other nerds in a different way), Dazai drags Chuuya out drinking with Ango and Oda, cause otherwise he was wasting away in his room out of grief.
Oda quickly became the older brother figure to Dazai and Chuuya, with Ango being like the one braincell of the group (Oda is relegated to Chuuya and Dazai wrangling duty, and those two are teenagers, no other explanation needed)
He even introduced his kids to Chuuya and Dazai, and they became cool older brothers.
Chuuya is on a mission out of town for multiple days while the Mimic thing goes on. Mori sacrifices Oda, not just because it was convenient but also because he noticed that Dazai was getting too close to Oda and was worried that he would lose control of Dazai. He’s hoping that by killing Oda off, Dazai will learn the lesson that getting too close to people is a weakness.
Chuuya gets back from the mission and is going to report to Mori right as Dazai is leaving HQ. Dazai is panicking and Nakahara “Ride or Fucking Die” Chuuya is on board finding Oda.
They do not get there in time to save Oda, but they do get there in time for Oda to have one last monologue about how they should go to the light side.
Chuuya is still supposed to be away, so he goes to scout out a new place to live (in Suribachi City, his old home with the Sheep and familiar territory) while Dazai takes the last two weeks to tie up loose ends.
The day they finally, properly leave they grab some important documents, blow up Mori’s car and skeddadle. (they are 17 here)
Now, their new home is two shipping containers and a shed that were cobbled together with Chuuya’s bare hands, a knife, and a mission. Chuuya managed to make some friends already (you can pry extrovert Chuuya from my cold dead hands) who managed to hook them up with electricity, water, all that jazz. It’s definitely a downgrade from mafia luxury, but it’s barable.
They also don’t get help from Ango or Taneda. They’re on their own, Soukoku against the world.
They make it three months shut in before Chuuya snaps and gets a couple of jobs: Walmart janitor on the shitty end of town at the night shift, and a barista at Cafe Uzumaki. (Yes, this does mean Chuuya meets the ADA early)
Dazai also makes some friends with a coalition of thief hookers, who basically wander around the rich sections of Yokohama and pretend to be prostitutes to rob rich assholes. Oda said to be on the side that helps people, not to not break laws, so...
Over the next year, Dazai takes Akutagawa under his wing as a pseudo apprentice, and Chuuya meets Gin and subsequently starts plying her with food and stuff stolen from the Walmart he’s working at.
After an incident involving Akutagawa getting sick, a panicked call to Yosano from Chuuya, and Dazai punching a dude in the throat (not in that order), the Akutagawa siblings move in with them.
At some point, Dazai interferes on an Agency case, along with Ryuu, and are promptly given job opportunities. Dazai’s not one to pass on a good deal, so he takes the job, and Ryuu agrees only on the condition that Gin be allowed an internship as well. (Gin doesn’t have an ability and is not committing fraud like Ranpo, so legally she’s just a secretary, but off the books she’s a detective too)
Chuuya is reluctant to join another organization (his track record is not the best, both the Sheep and the Port Mafia have stabbed him in the back), but after an incident involving some assholes with guns attacking the cafe, he takes the job.
When they both signed up, Chuuya and Dazai informed Fukuzawa of the fact that they were former Port Mafia (not that they were Soukoku specifically or their rank). They struck a deal: anything that needed to be done that can’t be done by the other detectives, they would do (basically less legal activities and murders). They’re former Port Mafia, they already have blood on their hands. They couldn’t do that to the kids.
And three/four years after the family of four join the agency is when BSD canon starts. (I have alterations after this point but they will remain a mystery for now)
Other stuff that didn’t fit into the Plotline TM:
Suribachi City world building! I also have some OCs, but I’m in the middle of fleshing them out so they’ll be coming later.
A large portion of the town worship Arahabaki, for forming the crater and thus Suribachi City in the first place, so he’s become sort of a patron god of the place. There’s a shrine in the Shipyard section of the city, where Arahabaki is depicted in a statue as a wolf/ram hybrid. (This will have effects later down the line)
The Shipyard section of Suribachi City is just a neighborhood where all the dwellings are made of reused shipping containers, it’s where Dazai and Chuuya set up
At first the staff at Cafe Uzumaki are afraid of the crazy detectives, so when Chuuya is hired and immediately calls out the other baristas for being wusses and bringing their orders over, sassing Ranpo, Yosano and Kunikida the whole time, an immediate friendship is borne.
Because of Chuuya’s aforementioned extrovertedness, a lot of people in Suribachi City know him and are friendly to him. By accident he gained a lot of power. Dazai is known to multiple people exclusively as “Chuuya’s friend” or “Chuuya’s boyfriend” or “Chuuya’s armcandy” and he loves it. The Akutagawa’s are similarly known as Chuuya’s kids or younger siblings, so they get along well enough with people.
Suribachi City itself is self governed (mainly because law enforcement doesn’t want to touch the place) and exists on a barter system, most people living there don’t use yen at all.
For a while the Sheep functioned as as a sort of law enforcement within the town, but when they disbanded (as a result of many of them perishing in the Dragon’s Head Conflict), a new group emerged called the Wolves (with the help of Chuuya and Dazai). This group functions a lot better than the Sheep because their survival is not dependant on one person (Chuuya), but they have multiple ability users. The main leadership is a council of ten, with five ability users and five non-ability users, to make sure everyone is equally represented. Chuuya and Dazai are honorary members.
One night, while drunk, Dazai and Chuuya decided that their legal names on their brand new totally clean profiles would just be their last names switched, so Dazai is legally Nakahara Osamu and Chuuya is Dazai Chuuya. They committed to the bit, and now they constantly joke that they’re husbands. Ango is constantly stressed by this decision.
The Sheep have a pseudo shrine next to the statue of Arahabaki. It’s an apple tree, with Sheep bracelets hung on the branches. The shrine maiden who tends Arahabaki’s shrine also tends the apple tree.
It’s not super important to the narrative but it’s important to me that you all know that Dazai loves to cross dress, and probably does it casually enough that neither Ryuu nor Gin blink an eye at Dazai wearing a skirt.
Dazai and Chuuya also have a cat named Mickey. She was their compromise, because Dazai didn’t want any pets while Chuuya really wanted a dog. Her name is Mickey because it’s short for McDonald’s, because Dazai found her in a McDonald’s container.

junji ito post
this is a diary post of my thoughts while reading various works by junji ito.
i found the beautiful hardcover edition of GYO at my local library, so i borrowed that on a whim. i read that. then i thought i would watch the movie version because i wanted to see how they would tackle, you know… all aspects of the work. the movie was so lousy i quit watching less than halfway through. maybe i'll pick it up again sometime. but i'm a stickler for honoring the source material, and they inserted so much weird and dumb fanservice, it was intolerable. then i wondered what other anime adaptations existed of junji ito works. so i watched the 2022 netflix series JUNJI ITO MANIAC. i thought it was, on the whole, somewhat weak, but i did watch every episode. then i got more junji ito books from my local library, including TOMIE, UZUMAKI, DESERTER, LOVESICKNESS, REMINA, and VENUS IN THE BLIND SPOT. i also watched the series JUNJI ITO COLLECTION and read more stories online. i wanted this post to encompass all of ito-sensei's works, but after reading most of them, i decided to read the rest some other time. you can scroll to near the end of this post for an incomplete list of ito-sensei's works that i find to be worth reading. this post contains some spoilers, but i think spoilers don't matter too much for horror manga, as it's the visuals that really count.
i should preface everything by saying that i have known of junji ito for many years. when i was in high school… well, a short summary would be that in 9th grade, i saw a traumatizing gory video that messed me up and made me afraid of the dark despite being 14 years old, and i was especially afraid of dark spaces like the cracks between things. i slept on a mattress pressed into the corner of a room, and i was still afraid of the gap between the mattress and the wall. i wouldn't face my back to it all night. the cabinet door under the bathroom sink didn't shut all the way, and i would watch that dark gap through the clear shower curtain for 100% of my time in the shower to make sure nothing came out. (i made my dad get a clear shower curtain for that reason.) i was mentally ill, you see. did you know that sometimes, knowing a fear is irrational does nothing to make you not afraid? (i'm better now.) so there's the baseline, and then, due to the whims of my internet friend group, i felt compelled to read junji ito's THE ENIGMA OF AMIGARA FAULT. it struck the worst possible chord with me: now i knew that what could be lurking in the dark cracks between things is a stretched and disfigured human body being blissfully, eternally compelled through its own personal tunnel. THAT is what's in between my mattress and the wall. THAT is what could slip through the crack in the bathroom cabinet door. can i put into words how awful it was to think about? but of course, being rational at the same time, i acknowledged even then that the manga itself was kinda good. to come up with such an unpleasant idea is worthy of praise in itself. so i came to respect junji ito. but i haven't read that story again, and i won't. (they had the nerve to stick it in as a bonus story at the end of the GYO hardcover. i didn't even flip through. i will not read that story again.) several years later, i read UZUMAKI and thought it was good. and i think i read one or two TOMIE stories and then lost interest. (oh and i read the cat diary with yon and mu with no hesitation because i knew it wouldn't actually be scary. it was fun.)
so i had the impression that junji ito was very powerful and worthy of my respect. that's why i picked up GYO at my local library. i was pretty sure it was going to be good, and there was also a distant element of facing my fears.
GYO was pretty good. the way humans became disfigured after infection reminded me of Mermaid Swamp, an RPGmaker game i played a while ago and lost sleep over. i can't say i recommend it, but i do like RPGmaker horror games… anyway, GYO was well-composed and certainly Extensive in Scope. you know, it just keeps piling on and on. but it all came together… kind of. but when we got the circus part, i had to be like, "seriously?"
then i watched JUNJI ITO MANIAC. i find that netflix-produced animes have a certain flavor, a tinge that says, "netflix execs really really really really want to make money from this!!!" so to the extent that there is production value, it feels like it has been expended for the sake of making it Look like the anime is good, and not for actually making the anime good, if that makes sense. i feel that there is some heart missing… some loving devotion to the source material. at least some of the time. after watching the whole series, i came across many of the source stories in the short story collections i read. the anime adaptations were generally faithful to the short stories, and i appreciate that. but there is a difference between "turning a manga into an anime" and "turning a manga into a good anime." it is the difference between "this manga scene is now happening in motion" and "the tension and emotion of the original scene has been successfully translated into motion." and actually, it kind of felt like… for some of these… we didn't need to animate them? the thing about horror manga is that your own feelings of horror set the pace. maybe you are pulled quickly forward by suspense, but your eye lingers on the most hideous pages against your will. if the scariest part flashes up too briefly when translated into anime, it won't have as much of an effect. so it felt as though the timing for the scariest parts was weirdly rushed in some of the anime episodes. even watching without knowing the source material, i got the distinct impression that the manga had to be much better than this. [note added in later: sometimes, they actually weren't much better.] they got some of the faces wrong, too. you know how junji ito has his distinctive style where sunken eyes are expertly depicted with many small lines? it's a striking look. it looks great. classic. the way they showed those sunken eyes in the anime was unbelievably lame. it was an airbrushed look. i know they couldn't have animated it with many small lines, but shading it with a harder edge would have looked a thousand times better. or cel shading. come up with a creative solution to capture the effect. also, some of the voices were really annoying. i mean, i guess souichi's voice being annoying is appropriate. (what is souichi's deal? isn't he just really annoying? i haven't read any of his short stories yet.) anyway probably the best story in this series was the hanging balloons. i haven't read that story yet either. i have a feeling the manga is much scarier. but the anime has the advantage of showing the movement of the balloons. the way it will loop around your neck and fling you away in a second was well done.
(revelation) i see… so basically… the JUNJI ITO MANIAC series was the second junji ito series netflix made. so these are all the second-tier stories that they didn't care to animate in the first series? is that right? that makes sense. i'll have to watch the other series soon. [note added in later: wrong. JUNJI ITO COLLECTION was about the same.]
some of ito-sensei's stories are bizarrely anticlimactic. because it is horror manga, i set aside my usual expectation of a happy ending; i am expecting an ending that is either disastrous or faintly hopeful despite everything. but i was expecting an ending, and some of these short stories don't have much of one. like "the bully" (ijimekko). i thought it wasn't very good. i thought it was a miss. i think maybe that one didn't need to be animated, for that reason. but after reading several, i have come to accept that an anticlimactic ending is standard for his short stories. i got used to it. i guess his intention is to end a scary story without much denouement, before the terror fades away, so as to leave a stronger impact. [note added in later: it turns out that in an interview, he said pretty much exactly that.] but i think it wasn't executed successfully every time.
i read the LOVESICKNESS collection of short stories. the story of the beautiful boy at the crossroads was pretty good. i find it kind of strange how romantic love is a strong and frequently recurring theme in ito-sensei's work, and not just in this particular collection. well, the whole way he depicts women has a certain flavor, doesn't it.
i read REMINA. i don't have very strong feelings about this one except that remina the girl sure doesn't have very much agency as a character. all she does is get pursued and picked up and pulled around by everyone on earth. i thought that as a climax, there might actually be some fun and exciting link between her and remina the planet, since at first that it seemed to attack the most when she was being crucified or whatever, but there was no such thing. remina the planet just made a beeline for earth and then started taking its time on the devouring part for no reason.
i spent my whole saturday reading TOMIE from cover to cover. it was pretty good. i think it's really funny how tomie herself evolves (in terms of character development) to be such a needy brat. and i think it's funny how all the tomies want to kill each other. i like how a tomie regenerating under certain circumstances takes on some characteristics of her surroundings, like the ashes tomies and the sake tomies and the carpet tomie. i also think it's really funny how tomie really doesn't want to split into more than one but she's sooo prone to it and she haaates it. overall, i was more amused than really scared by TOMIE. important note: there's probably quite a lot to be said if you read these stories through an explicitly feminist lens, but i don't care to do that right now.
i'm looking at wikipedia now and realizing there is a nearly endless supply of junji ito short stories. my local library does not have all of these. they have six or seven volumes, which is a ton given the extent of their manga collection, and i kinda thought that was all, but it's not. i'll have to read some of these online. however, there is a dilemma. given my history of getting afraid of the dark and its debilitating effects on my life, i want to avoid giving myself that feeling again (and i know it is possible), so i never read or watch anything scary at night. but i don't read manga online unless it is on my laptop or ipad. and i don't have my laptop or ipad with me in the daytime, only in the evenings… maybe i'll bring my ipad to work…? [note added in later: i made it work by reading in the early evening. this is the kind of thing i really worry about.]
i guess i've had a complicated relationship with horror media in that i like it, and most of the time it doesn't Hit in a bad way, but i need to make sure to take precautions when i consume it or else i could seriously lose a lot of sleep. even just typing out that paragraph about my ordeal in high school left me with a terribly nervous feeling because i wrote it at night and relived unpleasant memories. but i can still turn a lightswitch off and then walk out of a dark room without pressing my back against a wall. so i'm miles ahead of where i was back then. that's a relief.
i will note that this whole time, i kiiinda thought junji ito's "ito" miiight just be ito 糸 (thread). i mean, i knew his name (romanized) long before i ever learned that "ito" means "thread." it's only natural that in my ignorance, i might form some association between them. but it's totally not thread. who would be named that? (there's probably somebody.) it's actually itou 伊藤. junji itou. itou junji. but no one romanizes it like that. it's the same itou as the itou in delicious ITO EN jasmine tea, which goes really well with unfrosted blueberry pop tarts. if you're planning to try it with frosted pop tarts, don't even bother. oi ocha is good too.
while watching MANIAC, i was like, what is souichi's deal…? now i'm watching the first episode of JUNJI ITO COLLECTION and i've realized that souichi could be an enjoyably ridiculous character but they gave him a completely insufferable voice actor and thus made him insufferable. i wonder if they had the perfectly reasonable thought, "we can't make his voice nice or else he could become sexy to teen girls, and that idea is apprehensible," and then they overcorrected. perhaps they could've made it less awful and safely unsexy by giving him a realistic teenage boy voice. they could even make it appropriately obnoxious without going too far. i have to read the souichi series and then i'll be able to love him. i can't love him with this shitty voice <3 [note added in later: it turns out souichi is in 6th grade and 11 years old. he's not even a teen. that means my sexy voice hypothesis, by all rights, ought to be moot. i still think they made the wrong voice actor choice. i mean, not that the actor didn't give it his all. but he sounds like an annoying man or teen, not an annoying kid. souichi needed a kid voice.]
JUNJI ITO COLLECTION failed to successfully adapt the story of the beautiful boy at the crossroads. as a multi-chapter story with a relatively strong narrative, it should have been given at least a whole episode or an OVA-length animation to tell the whole story at once, but instead, they abbreviated it and never followed up with the rest. that being said, the main problem was that they didn't make the narrative as clear as in the manga. well, whatever. i'm going to watch through COLLECTION even though it's lousy.
i read the compilation book entitled VENUS IN THE BLIND SPOT. apart from noticing that they had the audacity to include the enigma of amigara fault again, none of the stories especially stuck with me except the cute love letter manga to kazuo umezz. i'll have to read some of his stuff next. speaking of other horror manga, i bought and read the english translation of "inuki kanako no daikyoufu" (Be Very Afraid of Kanako Inuki!) by inuki kanako because i wanted to support my local comic book shop. i kinda picked it at random based on the cover and paid full cover price. i kinda didn't like it. i don't have much to say about it except that her perfectly neckless art style is fun. maybe i'll read her tatari series sometime.
i'm remembering that when i read UZUMAKI for the first time, despite having watched many horror movies, i failed to consider the narrative expectations for works in the horror genre; that is, i had not resigned myself to a bad ending, which i now understand is very much to be expected. so i was really rooting for kirie and shuichi the whole time, and at the end, when they fail to escape the spiral, i was like "ok fuck me then i guess." i was pissed. but what i'm saying is that i was wrong to be pissed because my expectations were unreasonable. in retrospect, it was an appropriate ending.
there's that one tumblr post making fun of kirie and her fucked up boyfriend. it has a couple of panels where shuichi's looking deadened and she puts her head on his shoulder. i think that post is mean. i'm on shuichi's side! be nice to him! you saw what happened to his dad! have a heart!
JUNJI ITO COLLECTION episode 7 was probably the best so far, just because they did a pretty good job with the used record one. if the singer hadn't done a good job, it would have flopped. the song adds so much that is impossible to portray in the form of manga. it spooked me enough that i'm not going to watch any more episodes tonight, which did not happen with any other episodes of COLLECTION or MANIAC.
i was right. manga souichi is much more lovable than anime souichi, because though their faces are equally obnoxious, manga souichi has no obnoxious voice. the souichi stories are kind of refreshing because we get to see junji ito's strange sense of humor without anything too scary happening. my first souichi exposure was the 4 walled room episode in MANIAC, meaning i missed his introduction that appears in COLLECTION, so i was like "who the fuck is this? our protagonist, kouichi, is going to die in the gap between these walls. what? nothing in particular happened at the end. (souichi appears in another episode) this guy's in more than one??" but in the end, i kind of like how he's in 6th grade and his main powers are supercharged annoying personality and also being able to administer real curses. and despite the horrible voice, most of the souichi segments seem to have been adapted with incredible accuracy. souichi's recurring associated sound effect in the manga is "gachu gachu," the slightly clankety sound of him sucking on nails. one scanlator translated it as "munch munch;' another as "nom nom." i've never seen "gachu gachu" before.
ito-sensei's art peculiarities: he is the master of the "lovely face looking concerned." great skill with sunken eyes looking upset and exhausted. in the profile view, everyone has that distinctive frown. poses are sometimes a little awkward as if drawn from a clumsily posed posable model. chins sometimes don't make sense if the perspective isn't straight on or in profile. occasionally, his unique sense of humor shines through in the facial expressions. he's very good at drawing cutely styled hair and plain, elegant clothes. he also draws scary things.
the short story "fashion model" features fuchi, the fashion model. she debuted in the souichi story "rumors." i love fuchi. i'm on her side. when she's riding in the car with everyone much shorter than her and politely excited to go to the deep woods, that's cute. i like when she hitches up her long dress to run quickly in the woods. in "fashion model: cursed frame," fuchi appears in a magazine shot with two other models smiling happily, and that's cute. i want more fuchi content. (also, fuchi is pronounced the same as huci, the ainu word for grandmother. irrelevant.)
junji ito short stories are really hit-or-miss, i've decided. UZUMAKI, GYO, and TOMIE are essentially hit, and that's why he's popular, but a lot of these one-shots, they do not hit.
many of the strange evils in ito-sensei's works seem to be town-restricted. it seems that in most cases, if you get out of town, everything's fine. town where bodies turn into tombstones. town where everyone needs maps to navigate. town where it's foggy and everyone does fortune-telling. town contaminated by spirals. let's all exit towns.
i think ito-sensei can tell when an idea is good and when an idea is bad. generally, the better ideas are longer stories, and the worse ideas are shorter stories. i guess an exception would be hell doll funeral. that one was short but good. another exception is the bully. that one was bad but long.
i think ito-sensei's stories would be better if he applied his skill at drawing unique face shapes to drawing main characters instead of using unique face shapes only for the sake of showing "ugliness" in comparison to the uniformly beautiful main characters. as if ugliness is horror.
most of the characters in his stories are very shallow, but that's okay; they are only here in service of the narrative, to react to whatever hideous sights are laid before them... or to take part in them.
he is really a master of rictus...
it's funny, i just read a ton of ito-sensei's works from the 90s and very early 2000s, and then i accidentally jumped to one from the past few years because the entries on his wikipedia page aren't in chronological order (someone fix that), and now youtubers are appearing and twitter is a plot point. also, the quality of the work is quite visually different, as he switched to digital. it feels very, very polished now. i wonder why they don't have these at my local library.
here are the junji ito works that are worth reading, in my view (not in any order) :
the hanging balloons - this vision is truly inspired. you can also read "return of the hanging balloons," but it's hardly anything.
souichi's series, including: fun summer vacation, fun winter vacation, souichi's diary of delights, souichi's home tutor, mannequin teacher [probably the best], souichi's birthday, souichi's selfish curse, the room with four walls, coffin, rumors, souichi's beloved pet, secret of the haunted house, and the souichi front [also known as secret of the haunted house: souichi's version]. - not every single one of these is fantastic, but some of them are quite good. if you only want a little taste, read "souichi's home tutor" and then "mannequin teacher," as they distinctly go together. you can also read "souichi possessed," but it's hardly anything.
splatter film [also called smashed] - another truly inspired vision. if you don't get it, the joke is mosquitoes.
used record [also called secondhand record] - read it and then watch episode 7 of junji ito collection.
fashion model - get to know my girl fuchi. you can also read "fashion model: cursed frame," but it's not much.
village of the siren - this one has a unique feeling, i think.
gyo, tomie, and uzumaki are all about as worthwhile as each other.
lovesickness is slightly less good than the three listed in the previous bullet point, but still pretty good
the chill [also known as coldness] - if you want to experience trypophobia hell. don't take that warning lightly.
groaning drain pipes - just because the perfectly anticlimactic ending cracks me up
blood bubble bushes - uhh something also similar to trypophobia in this one, but it's striking
oshikiri's series, including hallucinations, bog of the living dead, pen pal, intruder, further tales of oshikiri, and further tales of oshikiri: walls - some of these are pretty good.
house of puppets - it's a house of puppets.
the town without streets - goes in an unexpectedly atmospheric direction. interestingly a mishmash of many different ideas, unlike his usual one-note short stories.
gravetown - another inspired idea.
the story of the mysterious tunnel - can't decide how much to like this one.
frankenstein (adaptation) - very well done. there's a scene where victor and the monster make eye contact and then the monster immediately turns around and scales a sheer cliff face. you made his body really strong, victor. he can scale a sheer cliff face. i should note i only read around the first half of frankenstein the novel. i know, it's a failing on my part. so i can't judge the accuracy. i don't know if the monster scales a sheer cliff face in the novel. anyway someone should cosplay as reanimated justine. you just need to really build up your limbs onto some stilts and stuff.
hell doll funeral - it's a hell doll funeral
fixed face - ending cracked me up
weeping woman way - i like this one. it's so wet.
madonna [also called the witch] - i enjoy a story that offends the church.
spirit flow of aokigahara - this one is really good. i love their bodily transformation.
sensor - the first chapter makes you envision getting hairs in your mouth so you go "pfuh! pfuh!" and the rest is like, oh, so god really does exist. i really appreciate how much he wrung out of the creepy natural phenomenon of volcanic hair, which i didn't know about before this.
i wanted this to be a comprehensive list, but i'm sick of reading these for now. maybe i'll read the rest of his works some other time.
in conclusion, despite the inexplicably strong urge i felt to read as much of junji ito's body of work as possible, i'm not in love with his stuff. i certainly don't care enough to compare any translations. however, i do really respect his art skills and horrific ideas, and i enjoy his inscrutable sense of humor.
(i am really looking forward to the black and white uzumaki anime if it ever comes out.)

truly i get not wanting taka to stay in oto after the war thats not my ideal ending either However the little oto group was very funny during the war and theyre still hilarious as a fucked up family unit in boruto era. also i feel like theres just a lot less to do with them if theyre on their own + it leaves them completely detached from the rest of the nrt cast and universe cuz lets face it them having friends save for a few exceptions is pretty unrealistic like i cant take it seriously everyone hates these guys. especially the konoha crowd as we can see w naruto bc its way easier to just hate taka and blame them for sasukes worst edgy moments than accept that he did all of that shit on his own etc etc. (its funnier too) also im like certain its unintentional but the reasoning is pretty sound too in the end. what with orochimaru being a sort of gray area where hes not like, Forgiven for everything but they let him be on Some conditions because he can be useful as a konoha ally etc. taka are still very much international criminals &though sasuke has konohas protection so kumo cant touch him taka very much doesnt. but also they genuinely work for orochimaru now theyre not prisoners or fearing for their safety etc theres more give and take which is very interesting to think about and opens up a lot of possibilities considering its Orochimaru. one of the most accomplished and knowledgeable people in the ninja world. thats why i really like that the juugo arc mentioned they worked w orochimaru to help juugo n he made him suppressants. like yeah hes not a cult leader anymore and he doesnt have thousands of prisoners and people working for him anymore if he wants to get some shit done he does kind of need his three workers to want to stay there. like he knew kushina he explored the uzumaki ruins he knows about seals theres a lot he can help karin w on her journey to connect w her heritage for example. hell even if their relationship will never get back to what it was he knows tsunade well too and maybe SHE wants to reconnect w the uzumaki side of her family as well. etc etc like why dont we stop complaining about taka living w orochimaru for a moment and think about all the ways they can use him and his knowledge and his connections.

Walking-By Original Konoha 13/Sand Siblings Heights (!!)
Shino Aburame: 6′2″. Listen,, Shino is Tol and unlike Shikamaru he doesn’t slouch. He’s Tol and a Protector and it’s Good. Generally speaking though he doesn’t utilize his full height - though he doesn’t slouch he does sort of stand slightly off to shave off an inch or few.  Naruto Uzumaki-Namikaze-Hyuuga: 5′11″. He’s Just Like That Now. He’s not short here though short gremlin king Naruto is of course also wonderful. Stronk built Naruto who can lift up the likes of his children or the others on one arm, y’know, like they’re swinging off of it. Sasuke Uchiha: 5′8″. Yes he’s one of the “short guys” of the group despite not being especially short -- yes he gets (lightly) teased and gently roasted over this. Yes Naruto ruffles his hair and Kiba sometimes princess-carries him. Hinata Hyuuga-Uzumaki-Namikaze: 5′8″. She’s a Tol One - no Short Queen Hinata for us today, only Tol Queen Hinata. She’ll stare you straight in the eye and take none of yours. Rock Lee: 5′11″. Well... Shikamaru Nara: 6′0″. Alright so Shikamaru is tallish too. Of course he doesn’t generally stand up straight when he’s casually with friends. He actively tries to get people to forget he’s Tol,, shaped. Neji Hyuuga: 5′10″. Because a Neji shorter than Naruto hits fuNNE for us. Sakura Lee: 5′8″. Well? She’ll yank down on Lee’s shirt to kiss him and she can and has done push-ups with Sai sitting all nice on her back, reading. Stronk Buff Queen. Sakura is Stronk. Sai Lee: 5′7″. Because Sai is darling but he’s not Tol Material atm, and also it’s a little neat to think of him being not taller than Sakura. Ino Yamanaka: 5′10″. Yes, we’d like a Tol Blonde Queen for today, thanks. Also of course she wears heels, she’s exactly that kind of “because I can“ and “you dare dictate what I can and cannot do? Fool“ and “gaslight gatekeep girlboss girl”. She did actually do training/undergo a loose apprenticeship under Ibiki Morino in T&I, and boy howdy you do not want to get on her less than happy side because she will salt your fields and hit you where it hurts. Omoi Yamanaka: 5′8″. Yes Canonically he’s a little more 5′9″ (175 cm) but does it matter? Not going to quibble and dash over more precise measurements, yeah. Tenten: 5′9″. It fits. Gaara: 5′5″. Listen, Gaara is still one of the most intimidating shinobi in the Peace Generation, setting aside his height, age, and general rank as the Kazekage. Though yes, he did work very hard and yes much of his “Demon” reputation/background has been eased away it’s not, y’know, Gone because this isn’t just going to disappear. Gaara is still feared in more distant places for being able to crush your hands, head, he can drown you in sand on dry land and has only become more and more powerful and inpregnable in his years. Temari: 5′9″. Tol Temari very Good. Kankurou: 5′8″. Of course. Chouji Akimichi: 5′11″.  ‘Cause, y’know, it just wasn’t feasible to have Chouji be a n y shorter than, say, Ino. It’s all very Good and Valid to have him be shorter than a lot of people in this group, but hey -- Akimichi were always going to be Giants.  Kiba Inuzuka: 5′9″. Kiba just out here doin’ the Good Life, right, he’s Out There with His Dog Akamaru and Having The Time Of His Life
I’m sorry I don’t make the rules, the Walking-By bunch are just a group of giants,, Both metaphorical and literally and they’re literally looked up to - though by nature shinobi tend to be “very fit looking” and therefore it’s not so unusual, except for some of the older jonin to casually throw jokes around like “what was in the water those days? the ninja-equivalent of steroids?” ...alright so maybe western/eastern culture boundaries make this a little more weird but I contend that we could both factor in/out A) Chakra, which... Could be Doing Things we dunno!! to Elemental-Nation physiology. And B) ...we’re not quite on the level of tying Walking-By, at least in this case, to actual Historical-Japanese RW -- are they Asian-looking or warpedly anime-looking in “The Real World”? (This... we have to consider for one of the Side Branches to Walking-By, “The Residents of 31-A”). Therefore Yes, we can have many Tol Shinobi (though TBF you have to adjust for Villages. We’re currently considering Kumo and Konoha to have the tallest average.)

naruto comments from reddit
Naruto's visual character design peaked when he learned to use eye shadow. Gaara's chunin exam design was so cool, you have the gourd strap and white fabric forming an X on top of the black clothes and red hair. Nothing else comes close to this design. I really like Neji's part 2 design, its like a more modern functional take on traditional clothing. It also symbolized how he had reconciled with his uncle, so its significant character arc wise (a character arc that Kishimoto instantly forgot about, but eh what's new). it really is crazy how Naras pop into the world as fully formed miniature adults and propagate clonally.
Neji's if definitely the most infuriating death. Kishimoto forgets about him for 500 chapters and then brings him back in one chapter just to die.
I didn't think Konan would win against Obito but I still wanted her to. She was the last one of her friend group and was just starting to lead Ame to a brighter future. She never got to see the dream she and her friends fought for.
See here's the thing: Kishimoto doesn't think things through, he just gets carried away on whatever new idea he thinks is cool.
The more you think about the Naruto series the less sense things make. The real reason theUzumaki swirl is everywhere in Konoha is likely that Kishimoto made a cool character design for Konoha shinobi and put a symbol there because it looked cool, then only later did he decide that the red swirl was the Uzumaki clan symbol.
Boruto made Naruto into a real politician. campaign promises aren't real and you don't have to keep them
shhhh Boruto isn't real. Boruto can't hurt you.
The entirety of the 700 chapters of the manga Sasuke barely noticed Sakura existed and when he did it was because he thought she was annoying and in the way. Bad writing kept Sakura from ever having a character arc and thus moving beyond her cringe middle school crush. They have 0 chemistry and no real interactions.
Sasuke thought he could gain so much power from he bond with Naruto specifically because he felt so strongly about Naruto, because that bond was so precious to him (Sasuke logic). Sasuke sees Naruto as the only one for him, the only one he considers a friend and thus the only bond worth breaking.
maybe a divorce arc would have fixed boruto
