i am actually too exhausted and still achey to do a full post on it articulated well but i think the assumption that there is a "right way" to be a therapy patient just contributes to the power dynamic that exists in therapy rooms and the best therapy i have ever gotten is when i acted exactly as i felt in the moment, even when that made me argumentative and irritating and harmful. because we can dissect that and it's honest and it's a real piece of me, and i spent so long trying to be a good nice pleasant patient that i never actually addressed anything at all. and i hear that from my friends a lot, too.
