do yall ever think about how weird wash's fight scene in s12 is? specifically, that moment where he does that sideways flip while shooting (I believe) at felix? like wash is an enjoyer of combat rolls, my man is always rolling, but that one flip is a flashy, and dare I say, unnecessary move for wash to use.

I also find it interesting that they had him use his sidearm instead of his battle rifle, since in previous cqc situations wash has always used blades or blade like objects such as the epsilon unit. the only times I recall him using a magnum off the top of my head is when he shot south in s6, when he shot donut in s8, and when he threatened carolina in s10. if wash busting out his magnum, it's always symbolic of him letting some part of his personal feelings guide his actions, because shooting someone with a sidearm meant for close range is more intimate than using his primary mid/long range weapon.

this was obviously not the case in the s12 fight, and they probably did it just because it looked cool, but idk that's my random wash thought of the day.

more and more it makes me kind of uncomfortable (for lack of a better/softer word) to call my own characters ‘ocs’. because like. they’re from a completely original universe and from completely original intertwined stories and all that. so why would i have to specify they’re original in the same way someone would when referring to a character they made for a pre-existing non-original universe/franchise/whatever? by that logic every fiction author ever would be referring to their characters as ocs rather than just. their characters. you know.

#i guess you could say it’s different or something because I haven’t published any one Solid Official Work yet or anything but. #I don’t think that particularly matters? cause then you just get into policing what does and doesn’t count as Real and Official and that #inevitably doesn’t do anything good #idk man I know the term Original Character isn’t technically incorrect in my case but. Gong Ziyu is really lacking character development at this point. The drama is 1/3 through, and the way the show is cut, he has the most screen time, yet the least growth or any signs of working towards his aspirations. We've seen him do nothing towards being a good Sword Wielder, apart from practising wugong once.

Even Zishang has snippets where it seems to hint that she's not just a clown of the family. But Gong Ziyu...he has a big heart...it's all cute on the romantic aspect. I feel like gjm is trying to focus heavily on the 权谋 (tactics and politics) aspect of the show. For now, it's just Shangjue against Wufeng while Ziyu is dilly dallying around going hehehe Ah Yun while a handful of his family is being murdered. I know there's a bunch of theories around how Ziyu is hiding his true intelligence until the very last moment. However, it makes no sense to tell someone to wait until ep23 for it to get good 😅 when the drama has 24eps.

Of course, if you're watching this as a romance focused drama, that's not a problem. Or if tomorrow's episode Ziyu suddenly picks up, I will eat my own words.
