It’s definitely a movie thing and not really a book thing but I’ll take it 🥰 its just that thorin is so kingly and stern and then we have bilbo who is just,, the total opposite like my boi does not have a clue what he’s doing at all and it s h o w s

but then again bilbo isn’t a complete softy cinnamon roll type like you can see that he has this bitterness (especially in the book) that frodo never inherited (like did you see how distressed my guy was when the dwarves appeared at his door??). here is a guy whose concerns for his life revolve around his books and his armchair and his garden and his mother’s dishes and whether lobelia sackville-baggins stole his spoons. whereas for thorin’s entire life, he’s thought only about his kingdom and his people and constantly felt like he had something to prove, that he could be a leader and take back what they’ve lost. and its SO clear that it rubs off on bilbo during his tine with the company and he gradually reverts to how he used to be when he was younger. he learns about the world and his part in it, and remembers that when was a child, he would have loved to go on adventures and meet elves n fight in battles.

and then we have bilbo’s affect on thorin. thorin’s soft side shows. during his dragonsickness, it was bilbo that almost dragged him back to his old self when he told him about his plans to plant an acorn in his garden and that he’d watch it grow and live peacefully and simply in the shire. and thorin learns that that that really is enough, and that people like bilbo are just as necessary as warriors and kings and knights and soldiers

No, and it drives me crazy! My dad is amazing at skipping rocks, and he's tried to show me how to do it MANY TIMES but my hand will just. not do it.

Movie soundtracks and musicals, mostly! I'm not a Broadway superfan in general, but there are a few select musicals I absolutely adore, along with movie musicals :) Plus some pop when I feel like it, but I have a very specific taste in that!

anyway though i love this book!!!!! i am LAUGHING at how ppl said it was dense and boring and i got through it in less than a week (which is a personal record this year !!!) like- and i LOVE all these little dudes in this book, bombur being bombur and also thorin's grand speeches and bilbo himself being just The Best !!!!!! i love that little guy!!!!!! i was skeptical abt him being a Little Guy bc ive only seen the movies and i am always wary abt it but he REALLY IS A LITTLE GUY™️. man this book was fun
