I'm trying to find a way to safely dispose of my old non-stick pans bc we dont feel comfortable using them anymore and everwhere is like just put them in the garbage or donate them!
And... I'm like... these are practically toxic waste I'm not gonna do either of those options.

note to self: no matter how difficult it is, do NOT leave the instant pot that u cooked meat in out for almost an entire year and then finally wash it because you WILL get scarily close to throwing up while finally cleaning it out after soaking it because it WILL smell uncomfortably similar to maceration water (because it is almost that tbh)

After a bit of research and a lot of trial & error, I managed to get all the forge scale (the discoloration in the metal from oxidation) off, straighten out the majority of the wiggles in the band, heat harden it, and give it a good polish. At this point, if I do anything else to it I’m just making more work for myself, and I can’t think of anything that could be improved that wouldn’t also involve me starting a new ring.
