     ( the first bit is heavily inspired in the light novel ‘over heaven’ )

    before he lost complete consciousness, he saw her of all people as he was pulled into the coffin. erina pendleton joestar, being whom ironically, allowed him to live while putting him to rest. his vision was blurry, fading with each blink despite taking possession of jonathan’s body. & as she spoke to him, telling him how he finally became a joestar, the mention of heaven was made. for him to find peace along with her husband at the bottom ocean. words that could’ve very well came from his mother’s lips. by the time he was nearly out of consciousness, he was certain it was his mother who closed the coffin off. the word ‘heaven’ stuck with him.

    as for his defeat against jotaro, being in a state of ‘high’ clouded his mind. his thoughts were scattered—a hazy mess that he couldn’t make sense of. it’s why without thinking, he uses the leg of his weaker side. he was acting on pure instinct. the primal need to survive. & even if the position in which he had ended, was similar to that of over a century ago, DIO could never see jonathan in jotaro, adding to his shame. the man who defeated him wasn’t worthy of his respect.

    his disappointment was unmeasurable. to finally meet the one that connected him to this body—to his past. the legacy of the joestar bloodline, residing in the youngest one of them ( as far as he was aware ): jotaro kujo. the torch that was passed through generations, had ended in his grasp & the battle between good & evil, coming to an end after a century of peace. except... there were no attributes to be admired; no honour nor nobility found in his actions that resonated with that of the late jonathan joestar. he didn’t move through a sense of justice the way his long time rival did & that, to DIO was a disgrace. for this man to be his opponent, it didn’t leave him feeling satisfied. no sense of pride would be earned from defeating such man, or feelings resembling to those of admiration, as far as he could tell.

     from the way he held himself, to the way he spoke. it didn’t sound like jonathan, nor did he expect him to. perhaps, his own feelings of melancholy & nostalgia, expected more from a man carrying his will. their stories, still entwined, yet loosely. only a star-shaped birthmark, signifying that connection. a bond shared between a parent & a child, claimed by an invader & yet, what had brought him in his crusade, wasn’t justice, but something far more selfish: to protect his mother caught in the crossfire of this war. something even DIO, had no control of.

    “—you’ve heard, but you don’t listen.” he could already tell that conversing with this man would be impossible. not that there was any desire to, for he was a simple-minded individual in the vampire’s eyes. too set on his objective to defeat him, to even find reason to his existence—to the belief that many held in him. “if it wasn’t for your mother, you would’ve never sought for me. would you?”
