it amazes me how people dont understand the effects of genocide, global warming, and just generally trashing the earth.

we will not have future generations.

we will have no great-great-grandchildren to tell stories about their ancestors.

we will not have anyone to pass down family treasures to.

we will not remember how our brave ancestors survived genocide if there is no one to talk about it.

WE ARE NEARLY THE FINAL GENERATION.

our grandchildren will not believe that polar bears ever existed.

our grandchildren will not believe that we ever had places of moderate, non-severe weather.

our grandchildren will laugh when we tell them that white rhinos used to be a thing before they were all gone.

OUR PLANET IS CRUMBLING BENEATH OUR FEET.

before we even get a chance to colonize mars and ruin it, as well, the earth will be come inhospitable.

before future historians get the chance to uncover 2020s pandemic or the wars happening right now, they will all be long gone.

Deforestation is Very Harmful as it Causes Global Warming.

Human footprint on land increased phenomenally post the industrial revolution. The demand for land increased for multiple uses like agriculture, industrialisation, mining, infrastructure expansion and urbanisation. The land was made available for all these purposes at the cost of forests being cut down. Thus, deforestation and forest degradation emerged as new environmental challenge. 

Deforestation is defined as long term reduction of the tree canopy cover for the conversion of forest to another land use. Forest Degradation is defined as reduction in capacity of forest ecosystem to provide important goods and services. 

Some major causes of deforestation and forest degradation are- 

Agriculture - Subsistence-based agriculture like shifting cultivation; extensive mechanised agriculture of temperature regions and diversion of forest land into pastures are the major agriculture practices responsible for deforestation. 

Development Activities - Deforestation also takes place due to industrial purposes like timber, soya and palm oil plantation; infrastructure projects like roads, railways, mining and urbanisation. 

Firewood Harvesting - Firewood is still used as a cooking fuel in many parts of developing countries. It is a major cause of deforestation and forest degradation in these countries.

Lapses in Forest Policies - Illegal timber smuggling and forest fires due to deliberate acts of vandalism are also leading causes of deforestation globally. 

Climate Change - It poses multiple threats to forests. With climate change, the incidence of forest fires is rising due to prolonged droughts and heat waves in many parts of the world. Coastal forests like mangroves are threatened due to sea-level rise. 

Pest and Disease Attack - Pests like shoot borers, sap suckers, xylophagous pests, gall formers, canker-causing insects etc. are responsible for forest degradation in India. 

Biodiversity loss

Climate change 

Air pollution 

Soil erosion and land degradation 

Flooding and groundwater depletion 

Decreased resilience in times of natural disasters like heavy precipitation, Tsunamis, cyclones 

Agriculture losses and food insecurity.

Let's end the plastic crisis!

Hello everyone! I wanted to share some information about plastic usage and the negative affects it has on the world.

When plastic is being made, it emits greenhouse gasses which are a cause of global warming. Plastic products are also negatively affecting the earth’s environment, humans, and wildlife and their habitats. Plastic trash extremely deadly for our marine life. Between 60 and 80 percent of trash in our oceans are plastic!

The chemicals that are added to plastic are hazardous to human health. BPA is one of these chemicals and is known to cause cancer. Not to mention when plastic is heated up or melted it may release a poisonous gas called dioxin which is also cancerous.

I want to ask everyone to slow down or stop the use of plastic. Together we can end the plastic crisis. I have compiled a few suggestions below:

Try bulk food shopping, buying reusables instead of one time use plastics (plastic water bottles, grocery bags, straws), use recycled products, and replace plastic containers with glass or stainless-steel containers (such as Tupperware).
