I am so sad people are being such dicks about the finale. Yes the season went freackingly (too) fast. Yes I cried and screamed and have some criticisms about how it was done. Yes I feel a bit underwhelmed after such an amazing first season
BUT
This finale wasn't a "disrespect" to us, we weren't mocked or punished or anything like that! The artists did the best they could with what they got, which was so fucking little! They brought us many fulfilling love stories and I won't care for any half wit sad hearted insults and far fetched interpretations you might cook yourself up, trying to make sense of your feelings you twats.

thinking about how honest the hope is in disco elysium, if that makes sense. how you face consequences for the actions and life you can’t remember. how your nightmares come back and they just might be there to stay. how you still wake up in pain and have to very actively fight off the cravings of your old addictions. how it isn’t easy trying to chose not just life, but living better, living for yourself. how it doesn’t mean any of the problems will go away, or the pain will stop, but it gives you an option other than constant suffering. there’s always a silver lining, it’s just a matter of being able to look up and find it.
hope isn’t always easy, and sometimes it is a choice, but in a torn up world and a torn up body, it’s something. it’s not always pretty or perfect, it’s clumsy and sometimes foolish and hard to keep close, it’s difficult, and maybe it’s all you have but it’s something - streets and sodium lights, the sky, the world, you’re alive

adding to the never shutting up about the dorym implications of the scry party but do you think about how orym was the ONLY person who didn't take his eyes off the scry? like everyone looked at each other reacting to it at least once but oryms gaze was just FIXED on dorian........he hasn't seen him in so long and he didn't know how much of dorian he'll have so he just keeps LOOKING.... he misses dorian so bad who do I have to call to get them back together again?
like i can't imagine someone you've lived on top of and slept in the same bed with every night for actual months and knows so much about you just being whisked away more quickly than you could really process right before things started spiraling rapidly downward. and then your one tie to someone who has become such a rock to you is a 25 word message once a day and somewhere in those messages as you're preparing for what could be the apocalypse for you all you know you get "uh things could be better one of our friends that we sort of parented together is getting dark". and then after failing to stop a world-altering event that you had personal ties to and getting shunted away from one half of your new group you try to message him and get silence. and then spending a day fighting a battle that wasn't yours and could have ended in multiple deaths and spending the night unable to sleep and thinking about your murdered family after you once again had to remind the people around you that the people and goals they think "might not be so bad" murdered them and countless other innocent people. he deserved tangible proof that dorians okay after his broken little "tell me youre okay" and the Everything thats been forced on him.

What's the thing Dark Ace hates most about being the champion of Cyclonia?
What the thing he loves the most about it?
Ooh, good questions.
I'd say he hates the attention the most. Man just wants to do his job and protect his people, but every now and then he gets recognised on the street by random fans on his (rare) days off, or has to attend some sort of event for publicity purposes. People get weird while treating him like a celebrity (he does not hate the events themselves, just the overzealous attention it puts on him). It's a holdover from his Storm Hawk days when news outlets like Inside Atmos would constantly try getting up in his face with cameras and microphones. It was not fun. He has shit to do, get out of his way.
As for what he loves about it, that's tough to answer because there's a lot he likes about the job. He finds it incredibly satisfying work and wouldn't give it up for anything, despite the stress and drawbacks. I'd say his favourite part of it is, surprisingly, community events. Yes, he hates the publicity stuff, but on the other side of the coin, some of his favourite moments are the ones where he's able to connect with his people in some way. It makes him feel like he's actually making a difference among the seemingly endless fighting.

Although I just recently watched the first season of The Hour, as it came out over a decade ago I’m not going to put these thoughts under a cut. However, this is your warning that some spoilers for the first season follow.
The first season of The Hour seems thoughtfully and carefully put together on the whole, which is why the affair plot line is particularly baffling, because it doesn’t make any sense whatsoever and yet the show clearly expects us to believe it make sense, because otherwise why include it?
Bel’s only reason that I can tell, for having an affair with Hector, is that she thinks he’s movie-star attractive, and she knows he thinks she’s attractive. He’s absolutely terrible to her when they first meet - he’s smarmy and condescending and misogynistic and hits on her while being smarmy, condescending, and misogynistic. He’s also married and her employee, in a time in which she is absolutely going to suffer the most consequences professionally as well as personally if their affair is discovered. He’s a little less terrible after their first meeting, but A), that’s a very low bar, and B) he’s not that much better. He becomes more sympathetic, yes. He doesn’t particularly become a better person.
I know this show understands how to do a convincing “these people find each other attractive and sleep together” plot line because Freddie and Lix as a result of certain things that are going on, decide to sleep together. Freddie and Lix, who are both single, who are friends, who are kind to each other who like each other as people, who have a genuine affection for one another, who find each other compelling and intelligent and witty and attractive, and who are very clear about what they are and aren’t doing when they choose to sleep together. There’s a reason they do it that one time, and there’s a reason why it’s a one-time thing (this time).
I can only conclude that I must have missed something critical that would explain why Bel and Hector are having this affair, but I’ve no idea earthly what that is.

Why does it always rain after some good deep snow, but when there’s weak shitty dusting the weather is clear for ages? My snowman is melting
I think it's more about relative humidity than temperature. When it's sunny, water will evaporate faster than it condenses (since the relative humidity is high), leaving it as a thin layer of very cold air above the water. If you have precipitation, then this layer will get a bit thicker, increasing the temperature of the air just a tiny bit more than normal, which makes it rain. (For example, compare the relative humidity at 0°F to the relative humidity at 80°F, the two points on the chart below).
However, even if it's cloudy or raining the humidity still isn't very high, which means the relative humidity here in my house will be pretty much the same whether it is sunny or raining. There are various chemical processes that can lower the relative humidity, including evaporation, so if it's raining, those can lower the relative humidity even further, and the result is the thin layer of cool, damp air that accumulates above the water.

I WANT TO STUDY DORYMS EARLY EXU DYNAMIC LIKE A BUG CAUSE LIKE…..it’s not that they hate each other, the respect for each other is there even in the beginning (ie “our little tactician”), they both seem to take on each other as the only other Responsible™️ member of the group, they have little moments of teasing (honeying the flute), they lean on each other when plan making, they first turn to each other, having dialogues only to themselves.
In a sense, the basis and beginnings of what we see from them in c3 is ALREADY there,,,it’s just,,,,their fundamental beliefs and values are SO DIFFERENT (partly because of how they were raised, partly because of who they are as people) that they can’t help but butt heads sometimes, say and do things they other doesn’t agree with. it doesn’t help that they both take sort of take charge of the group at times in the beginning, their need to help the group do the right or best thing collides because they have such DIFFERENT VIEWS on what is right or the best.
But the thing is,,,,,THE THING IS!!!!!! EVEN WHEN THEY ARE ARE ODDS!!!!! THEY STILL CARE FOR EACH OTHER!!!!!! THEY STILL RESPECT EACH OTHER!!!!!!
even when dorian wants no business with the fire ashari, he agrees to help them out because “if orym wants to help you, I want to help you.” !!!!!! even when dorian does questionable things like wanting to keep the circlet, attempting to give up gilmore, trading poska to lolth they he does it with the intention of keeping his people safe (which by extension, includes orym)!!!!!
even when orym wants no business with the circlet, he doesn’t push when dorian (and the others) insists to keep it!!! even when his intuition tells him not to, he decides to trust dorian!!!!! even when he’s THREATENING dorian, he doesn’t do it out of anger but out of WORRY!!!!!! BECAUSE HE KNOWS HOW GOOD DORIAN IS AT HEART AND DOESN’T WANT HIM GOING DOWN A DARK PATH!!!!!!!!!
IDK JUST,,,,,,the juxtaposition of the good nature of their smaller more innocent moments, to the intensity and hostility of their disagreements, to the meaningful and attentive implications of the things that go unsaid through what they do for each other in early exu JUST FUCKING GETS ME!!!!!!!! I miss them sm WHEN WILL THEY COME HOME :(((((
(Sorry im rambling in ur inbox just ur last post about how long it took for them to warm up to each other in EXU got me thinking so hard)
don't apologize for messaging!! i love shootin' the shit!!
i LOVE relationships that take work. like you said, the respect is a constant and i think that's why they learned to work with each other as well as they have and got to the point of "i give dorian a look a spouse gives a spouse". respect is one thing, but i think for both of them trust is hard-won and their trust in each other was no exception, and to me it shows in how solid their care for each other has grown to be.
this might not really fit into this convo but i also just appreciate how much of EXU liam has held onto because on 4 sided there was a question/comment about the conversation orym had with imogen and liam pointed out that he'd already worried about a friend following a dark path with dorian and i think the trio going through something so serious in their (mini campaign long) game zero set them up to be a grounded set for the chaos that is the bell's hells.
i am partial to the theory that liam and robbie have something planned for the long game even if it didn't start way back at the start of exu, and im excited to see if/how it plays out. liam has made it pretty clear that he/orym is still actively thinking about dorian and where he fits (at oryms side!!!!!!!!!), and it was also made clear even as early as the cast live tweeting the night of episode 14 that they aren't letting robbie go far so i have hope he'll be back at the table eventually. i think robbie works really well with the group, and it's backed up (to me) by him being brought in at the very start of the campaign and wrapped up so tightly with two principal characters/players.
also also we have travis in our corner via chetney and also 1000% himself. between chet asking about dorian and orym's relationship damn near the second he had dorian alone to his "whatever comes next" when he gave his gift to orym and also travis poking robbie about dorian having a romantic interest on 4 sided dive. which, on that front, another reason i'm convinced robbie and liam have something figured out is because of how cagey they've been about it lol. like robbie just not answering and then orym's "its complicated" and stuff.

I look at my baby FFX verse. I look at the reply @calmsought gave me.
Anyway, I have more ideas for FFX!Lightning.
Claire and Serah grew up in Luca after being orphaned at a young age. Although the port doesn’t have a dedicated temple, much of the people who assisted the girls during this time ( at least until Claire was old enough ) were Yevonites, which helped instil a firm belief in the religion by Serah. I don’t think Claire ever held a particular hatred or distrust for the church, she just... didn’t see the point in praying for a god who seemed to imply the reason their parents died was because they were not ‘pure’ enough, and quickly noticed the dichotomy between acceptable machina and unacceptable machina.
Claire joined the Crusaders as soon as they would take her, mostly working odd jobs around the city. Much like the Guardian Corps, this gave her the ability to provide for her and her sister at the cost of limited time. In this period, Serah met Snow - an up-and-coming Blizball star for the Luca Goers - and began to seriously think about becoming a summoner in order to protect the people of Spira.
I feel like somewhere in this period Claire also changed her name to Lightning. It most likely started as a codename she adopted and became reinforced during her pilgrimage, especially after journeying through the Thunder Plains.
Upon getting wind of her sister’s plan, Lightning came home and the two got into a massive argument. Serah would not budge on her plans, Lightning didn’t want her to achieve said plans, but she also knew Serah would go on without her given that Snow had committed to the plan of dropping the Goers to become a guardian and she was convinced he’d be fucking useless. She agreed to become a guardian only to convince her sister what a reckless and stupid plan it was.
Cue their pilgrimage. I haven’t thought too heavily about the other FFXIII cast as guardians but... hey, if it works? Maybe Sazh lost his son and that’s what made him become a guardian, maybe Fang/Vanille were another prototype dream before Tidus, WHO KNOWS. Whether it’s the whole gang or only part, they do their pilgrimage and get to Zanarkand.
Serah ends up choosing Snow to be her Final Aeon due to the love they held for each other ( I love the idea he promised he’d marry her after she got her Final Aeon and... well ) and the knowledge Lightning would completely reject Yunalesca’s truth were she to propose it to her. This means all Lightning really knew is that Serah and Snow went in together to get her Final Aeon and Serah comes out distressed and alone. I don’t really know if my personal ship for Snow/Light applies in this verse, but it can go one of two ways. Either it’s the man she secretly loves dying for her sister OR the man she finally accepted as worthy enough for her sister dies for her in what she feels is a senseless way ( especially if Sin comes back ). It doesn’t really matter when thinking in broad strokes. Anyway, she nearly goes postal on Yunalesca herself, only to be calmed by Serah who basically says Snow’s sacrifice is for nothing if they die.
This ends up being for naught when, upon trying to find Sin, Serah is fatally struck down. I’d like to say it’s one of those tragic accidents where no one really blames Lightning for being unable to do anything ; it’s the fragility of humanity itself, not the power of the guardian or their summoner. Serah passes away in Light’s arms, firmly instilling the senselessness of the pilgrimage in Lightning. Sin continues on.
Lightning then returns to Luca where she is constantly propositioned by wannabe summoners looking for an experienced guardian and consistently rejected.
I think the only reason she joins Yuna’s party is because Auron specially met her in Luca, as someone in a near similar circumstance, and they vowed to work through Tidus/Yuna to undo the cycle. This is why Lightning says nothing about what the Final Aeon entails, despite knowing one of the guardians would have to die, and why she wouldn’t interject during their offerings in Zanarkand. She waits with Auron for the confrontation with Yunalesca. I don’t know (?) if she would know he was unsent, but I don’t think it matters to her.
I also have two ideas surrounding Snow’s fayth. One: Light buries it somewhere in Zanarkand and gives up the location to Yuna after they defeat Yunalesca. Though he is no Final Aeon, it ensures his loss was for nothing and he can be of some use helping Yuna fight Sin. Two: She’s had it on her person the whole time and basically does the same thing in Zanarkand minus leading them to the fayth. If baby Seymour can carry his mother around as Anima, she can do the same.

so in dnd we found this uh. Divination fountain thing. an elfy thing. our resident elf went diving, & when i lost my grip on him i went in after
so the elf (our wizard) was at this grave and Fully thought he was this different dude. and that this was his dead wife's grave. and so when Fang went after him, he just... saw said dead wife. speaking in elvish, openly weeping as he held Fang like a dead lover, while Fang saw None of this and was just SO confused. trying to coax him back out of the weird vision.
it worked! we got him out. but it left Fang with a few impressions. A: he really does not have romantic feelings for this guy, so it was just Hopeless Confusion rather than fluster at it all. but also B: he'd been held like a Lover for the first time in his life, and it gave him an ache he didnt know how to name.
as we were making camp, he was thinking about it. ended up talking with the paladin, aka his actual crush (that he STILL doesnt realize is a crush). he tried to make sense of it, but still couldnt. and then turned the conversation onto her, asking how she's doing with everything. it's been a lot of killing and a lot of violence, and she voiced uncertainty with it all. feeling like she's just one of the criminals she'd sworn to stop when she first became a knight. and earlier, she mentioned feeling like we were monsters when we killed a captive after getting information from them.
and fang listened to this. then shared his point of view. this being a thing of survival, rather than just for the joy of killing. mentioned how sometimes you have to do things you find unpleasant in order to survive, but so long as they're doing good in the end, it'll be okay.
he wasn't sure if he'd really gotten through to her. he wanted to make Sure he did. so spurred on by that strange ache he'd felt (& still didnt understand), he reached for that intimacy. held her face between his hands to look directly in her eyes as he reiterated his point. killing for survival doesnt make them Monsters, so long as they're trying to do good in the world. trying to convince her of this as much as he's trying to convince himself.
she quietly accepts his words, contemplative at it all. he nods, then pulls his hands from her face (his fingers trembling just as mine were when I mimicked the motion). there was a small blush on her face.
and they continued their watch. one step closer to Fang finally realizing how he feels.

I need to know Chrysi's initial impression of Archibald... is it feral.... does she immediately wanna bite his head off and also kiss him... I MUST know
IT’S PRETTY FERAL, NGL. she sees him and she’s like, “this guy fucking sucks! i can’t wait to bite off his hand when he tries to offer it to me.”
she’s sooooo mean and rude to him the entire time she’s at clairdelune. she just wants him to leave her ALONE, or otherwise allow her to incapacitate him. unfortunately, in his pattern of irritating her, she finds herself slowly finding him endearing, in that annoying way of his. somebody, please, check on her mental well-being. this can’t be right.
only once she sees a glimpse of the truth underneath the shamelessness does she start to allow herself these feelings. when she sees his first melancholic fit, she’s taken. if archibald knew that all he had to do was be his true, depressed self around her to win her over, he would’ve completely given up on her and saved both of them grief :) but instead, he’s accidentally fallen in love with her in the process as well—and now she knows more about him than he ever wanted her to realize 💔💔💔
