I really have to say that when I see people engaging in, uh... soft apologism for Israel (I mean like, drawing focus in Israel/Palestine discussions away from Israel and onto how bad Hamas is, or how the Israeli side is being unfairly represented, or so on), it basically always makes me lose a little respect for them. Like.
Obviously Hamas is awful. There's nothing wrong with saying this straight up. I don't believe in the kind of neurotic narrative-crafting bullshit that other leftists seem to. People will call it manufacturing consent for US support of Israel or whatever, but I think this is silly. You can't sway US foreign policy by policing a conversation. I've compared it before to the inefficacy of weaving in traffic. It's like, no matter what your goals are, better (except in various edge cases) to go with the slow and steady strategy of "say what you actually think is true, or don't say anything at all". And what is actually true is that Hamas is an awful organization, and I won't hesitate to say it when I think it's relevant.
But. There is a genocide being committed right now, and it is not by Hamas. The current death toll of the war is ~26,000 Palestinians and ~1,400 Israelis. That's 4,000 more Palestinians than last time I made this exact same fucking post a few weeks ago, and... maybe a few more Israelis? It's hard to tell because there's some variations in the numbers that are being reported. That's not even to mention the people who have been expelled from their homes, the infrastructural damage, the damage to public health, etc., which has been exclusively concentrated in Palestine.
This is not a symmetrical conflict. This is a genocide.
I just... there's no other way to say this, but I've seen some people I otherwise respect on here come into I/P discussion and say things like "well this is all true, but Hamas is still terrible blah blah blah", and I see this in pretty much the same light as someone during WW2 being like, "well, the Nazis are awful, but" or "well, the Rape of Nanking was awful, but".
Like. It's not that there's never a time to talk about e.g. atrocities by the Allies in WW2! Those are actually pretty important to talk about! But when there's an ongoing genocide, when the situation is what it plainly is, and I see people repeatedly redirecting discussions of the genocide in away from the actual perpetrators, it's like...
Frankly it just makes me think they are bad moral reasoners. Like I interact with some of these people, I may not know them personally but I know them well enough to be confident they aren't evil or malicious or bloodthirsty. So instead I think they're blinded by bias, or they're in some discourse bubble with the kind of leftists who say Hamas is great and they're being too myopic to realize that dumbass internet leftists (who have always and will always exist) are not the most important issue right now, or whatever. I think they're engaging in a simple failure of moral reasoning. And, I think, an avoidable failure, the kind of failure that makes me look at someone and go "c'mon, man... really?".
The reason I am not so governed by myopic annoyance at internet leftists is that when I see them be dumbasses I say to myself "c'mon, man... really?", and when I have said this enough times about someone I stop taking what they say very seriously to begin with. And so too I often find myself reading I/P discussions and upon seeing one of these "reasonable" voices enter the scene, say to myself "well, this is probably gonna be a silly contribution". Well, anyway.

Play for Freedom
Riddler Headcanons commission: the riddlers are offered the chance to escape a room by playing a game on a little terminal 💚 commission me here! request info • prompt list • send me a request • kofi • masterlist minors DNI!! 🔞 cw: fluff
Tumblr media
Waking up confused and dazed in a prison outfit they’re not familiar with, The Riddlers could see their own attire in neat piles beyond glass at the front of the cell they were locked in. Making no slow work of getting their bearings, they each approached the terminal in front of them, making it past the log in screen, the first puzzle, with a crude remark about the inefficacy of the security. The screen flashed with their only instructions for escape.
“Play and win and your FREEDOM is in!”
Quick to understand the challenge, they all scrolled through the list of strategy games available to them in a bid to break free from this, admittedly entertaining and highly intriguing, challenge.
gotham
he misunderstood the assignment. he got too excited at the prospect of video games and has played each one of them to completion. the gap in the floor where you’re passing him food and water has definitely come in handy. it might be a while…
btaa
he’s going for the most obnoxious looking game, something in space, with asteroids and inter-planetary diplomatic strategy. and WAR! the bigger the guns, the more futuristic the army, the better his chances are at winning. and after trying and failing at three sci-fi themed games, he’s finally out
capullo
he refuses to look at the terminal. he refuses to play any games. he’ll happily die in this cell if it means dying on his own terms. no one tells him what to do and no one gives him an opportunity to potentially embarrass himself by not winning some stupid game
arkham
after a thorough temper tantrum and giving himself a few more scrapes trying to claw his way out of the room, he’ll settle down and scroll through the card games available. solitaire is what he eventually settles on, as he knew he would. a solitary game for a solitary man. he’s out the fastest, and he’s making note of the coordinates to come back and destroy whoever thought they could lock him up like a common dolt
dano
in a bid to try and remain as calm as possible, he’s seeing this as an opportunity to get some sense of companionship, so he’s going for a turn-based game. upon finding a historical based one, he’s ready to get started. it’ll take him a lot longer than the others, but knowing someone might be watching and judging him is quite appealing, and it makes him feel a lot less lonely. he escapes and retains fond memories of the experience
young justice
do they have it? do they have it? YES! minesweeper! he really relates to that one bit in White and Nerdy by Weird Al about minsweeper, he’s a literal genius at it. he’s won awards. youngest champ at one point, ladies. so he would have been the quickest to escape, had he not then been distracted and played for a solid three hours
telltale
this is pleasant downtime, honestly. he’s scrolling through for a while before making his decision. getting perfectly comfy in the chair, it’s go time for his game of strategy involving crusades. proselytizing in the name of an overlord, who just so happens to be him? this is the most relaxed he’s been in a while, and though he knows he’ll escape fine, he’s not going to rush himself. as long as these scores aren’t being recorded…

Hello! I adore all your thoughts about Chuuya as the successor to the PM and I agree that the narrative is most likely setting him up for that at some point in the future. I was wondering if you could elaborate more on his role in Cannablism in relation to this because, to me (and it’s very possible i’ve been misinterpreting things or missing something), it reads as an example of why he shouldn’t be the next Boss or why if he was, he wouldn’t be particularly good at it? Despite being the pillar of and completely embodying the PM’s values (which I think makes him a great *Executive*) I’ve never been able to see him in that Boss position for real and it actually going well..? Especially because it feels like, in their specific struggles throughout, Cannibalism ultimately seems to frame Kunikida’s future succession in a more positive light and Chuuya’s in a more negative light (based on how things end up with Kunikida reassured by Ranpo in his role and recovering enough to be present for the final battle, and Chuuya in Poe’s book after being mostly ineffective in his role from the start)?
Thank you for your kind words! But yeah, I think that conclusion is missing some key details and doesn't really reflect on Chuuya's capacity for leadership.
Ranpo targeted and trapped Chuuya because Chuuya was too dangerous otherwise. Not only that, Ranpo trapped himself with Chuuya.
The Agency relies on Ranpo for strategy because it's a small operation that is forced to be clever to survive against greater, better resourced forces— and their cleverest member removed himself from the board, while their next cleverest member was hospitalized. That was a last resort, and one they were only able to execute because Ranpo happens to possess (i) information regarding the one (1) trigger Chuuya has that's capable of rendering him irrational and (ii) access to someone with a skill that's capable of tearing into their primary reality to snatch others into parallel dimensions that, in effect, lobotomize enough of their neurology to render their skills inert.
I have no idea how that suggests Chuuya's inefficacy as a leader. You don't neutralize ineffective leaders, especially not when doing so is that costly.
Both Kunikida and Chuuya expressed immense vulnerability. Neither seemed equipped to succeed their mentors. Kunikida panicked, but threaded himself together well enough until he spiraled to the chords of Fyodor's cello and became paralyzed. He stirred himself only after Ranpo seized leadership to affirmatively direct the others, and even then, Kunikida only acted to drag himself to his friend of over ten years; he wasn't leading anyone. Chuuya panicked, and his nerves were clearly shot, but he nevertheless was coordinating multiple squads of Port Mafia personnel when he was lured into an irrational outburst and then vacuumed out of space-time. He wasn't ineffective from the start; he was rendered ineffective by a clever saboteur, as was Kunikida.
They're also both only 22, and their mentors, two of the most untouchable men in Yokohama, were abruptly incapacitated and had only hours to live. Neglecting their youth, their sudden loss, and the weight of the responsibilities that fell on them neglects, I think, substantial amounts of story. I think they, in parallel, displayed their unreadiness. But if you must compare the two, then it's worth recognizing the difference between coordinating roughly six people compared to the hundreds of Port Mafia, tens of whom Chuuya was shown on-screen to be directing in person and by headset, between multiple locations. But that digresses from the human drama and heart of that arc, which is that Mori and Fukuzawa nearly threw themselves away on each other's desperation despite how badly they and their cooperation were still needed— not just by the city, but by their ragtag families.
Anyway, in other words, no, I don't think anyone's capacity for leadership can or should be measured by how incapacitated they become by an interdimensional trap discretely tailored to contain them for an extended period of time, least of all in comparison to a psychological trap discretely tailored to break the spirit of someone else.

Overturning Roe Is McConnell’s Legacy as Much as It Is Trump’s
Tumblr media
With yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling, overturning Roe v. Wade and 50 years of legal precedent has left a majority of Americans feeling troubled, upset, and angry. Many are rightfully channeling their anger toward SCOTUS, whose slate of decisions this session represents an alarmingly extremist, backward-looking, and divisive slant. Many are channeling their anger at the former President, who appointed three of the five judges in the majority decision in Dobbs v. Jackson.
But let’s not forget the man who perhaps bears the lion’s share of credit for this – to use Justice Alito’s own term – egregious turn in American judicial history.
Mitch McConnell’s ruthless leadership of Senate Republicans since 2007 is the key element of the series of events that allowed Friday’s decision to transpire. His time as senate leader has been characterized by overreaching abuse of the filibuster and a propensity for changing procedural rules to achieve his objectives.
McConnell is the longest serving Senate Republican leader by far, surpassing Bob Dole by almost 4 years. Although he started out as a pro-choice moderate in the 60s, McConnell shifted strategies after a close election call in 1984 and embraced a more far-right agenda. In this respect, he perhaps embodies the dramatic shift in the Republican party over the last several decades.
McConnell stated in a 2010 interview with the National Journal, “The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.” In that moment, he admitted, publicly, what we all already knew. Republicans have no interest in working with Democrats to enact policies that help the American people. They make no attempt to find middle ground and work together. They seek only to obstruct, so voters become frustrated with the inaction and inefficacy of Dems, and vote them out.
Two-thirds of Americans did not want Roe v. Wade overturned. Yet the former Senate majority leader, overseeing a GOP that represented a minority of Americans, has been able to dictate policy and assert an extremist agenda on an unwilling nation. Let’s look at how he accomplished this.
Step 1: Obstruct Obama Appointees
Americans saw firsthand, in constant media coverage, McConnell’s often successful attempts to block President Barack Obama’s legislative agenda. The 44th President boldly proclaimed the importance of seeking middle ground on a host of issues, including abortion, in his 2008 nomination speech. This sentiment was widely supported by Americans at the time, but data also showed the issue becoming more and more polarizing. McConnell capitalized on this division, painting the centrist Obama as an extremist socialist.
It worked. The right always viewed Obama as a radical leftist. And then there were Dems who wanted him to be a champion of the left, a task at which he often failed. Repeated attempts to find middle ground were met with rejection. Obama could achieve little in partnership with the other side, especially after Republicans regained control of the Senate in January 2015.
But what Americans didn’t see on their front pages or the nightly news were McConnell’s successful efforts to block Obama’s appointments of federal judges. McConnell held votes on just two Obama appointees during the then-president’s last two years in office.
Trump was able to fill all 54 vacancies, with mostly white men.
Step 2: Merrick Garland
There was one judicial blockade that the public got to see unfold. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia died on February 13, 2016, 270 days before election day. Just 10 days later, McConnell announced that there would be no hearing, and no vote on any appointee Obama may have.
This was shocking and had never been done before, but McConnell held firm, invoking the so-called “Biden Rule.” This rule supposedly suggested that the senate should not confirm a presidential nominee to the Supreme Court in an election year, and should instead wait to “give [voters] a voice.”
To be clear, no such rule exists. McConnell was referencing a comment made by Joe Biden in June 1992, an election year in which there was no Supreme Court vacancy. His comments were made in light of the recent contentious Clarence Thomas hearings in 1991. It’s worth noting that Biden only advocated postponing any hearing until after Election Day and never proposed not considering a nominee at all.
It ended up being a non-issue. There was never an opening, or an appointee, and the Senate never voted on any such rule. Nonetheless, McConnell was able to use the decades-old words of Obama’s own vice president against him. Thomas’ nomination process, the longest for any confirmed justice in modern history, took 99 days from nomination to confirmation. Joe Biden made his senate remarks 132 days before Election Day 1992. Merrick Garland was nominated on March 16, 2016, 238 days before the 2016 election.
Step 3: Neil Gorsuch
McConnell’s gamble paid off. In a result that most could not predict, Donald J. Trump was elected the 45th president of the United States. Merrick Garland would never get his day before the Senate, and Trump would get to appoint a justice for the open Supreme Court position.
Democrats (rightfully) cried foul. McConnell abused his power to subvert the will of the American people who had elected Barack Obama and given him the right to appoint Supreme Court justices for the duration of his term. Garland wasn’t even the biggest threat to McConnell’s agenda. Garland was a moderate. A theoretical President Hillary Clinton could have selected a much more progressive option.
Just 11 days after taking office, President Trump nominated Neil Gorsuch, a staunch pro-life conservative, to the Supreme Court. Gorsuch’s nomination process was not without controversy. Though in the majority, McConnell lacked the 60 votes needed to approve a Supreme Court justice.
So, he changed the rules. Invoking the “nuclear” option, McConnell lowered the threshold for approving an appointee from 60 votes to 50. After 20 hours of public testimony, Gorsuch was approved to SCOTUS with 54 votes. Three Democratic senators joined the majority – Joe Donnelly of Indiana, Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota, and Joe Manchin of West Virginia.
Step 4: Brett Kavanaugh
At the end of the SCOTUS session in June 2018, Justice Anthony Kennedy announced his retirement. Kennedy had been the swing vote on the court for years. He penned the majority opinion in the landmark Obergefell v. Hodges case that essentially made gay marriage the law of the land.
This was a gift to Trump and McConnell. Obama needed to pick a moderate like Garland to have any hope of a Republican-controlled Senate approving his nominee, should they even bother to consider him. Trump faced no such hurdle, and could appoint a stalwart conservative to fill the spot of the moderate Kennedy.
Trump nominated DC Appellate Court judge Brett Kavanaugh on July 9, 2018. Despite a history of advocating for pro-life causes, and passing Trump’s litmus test for only appointing pro-life judges, Kavanaugh insisted to senators like Maine’s Susan Collins that he was not going to overturn Roe. Kavanaugh proclaimed at his confirmation hearings, “Roe v. Wade is an important precedent of the Supreme Court. It has been reaffirmed many times.”
Kavanaugh’s abortion stance took backseat to the larger controversy – whether he had committed sexual assault against Christine Blasey Ford back in 1982. In the end, Kavanaugh was confirmed 50-48. Collins voted in favor.
Step 5: Amy Coney Barrett
Liberal icon Ruth Bader Ginsberg passed away on September 18, 2020, just 47 days before the 2020 election. More than a year earlier, McConnell had been very glib in his insistence that he would proceed with confirming any Trump appointee in 2020, even though it broke the rule he had invented in the previous election cycle. And he did.
With their hypocrisy on full display, Trump announced that he would nominate Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court on September 26, 2020. With a mere 39 days before the election, Trump and McConnell though it appropriate to proceed with confirmation hearings. The previous five confirmation hearings took an average of 77.6 days. Recall from earlier that Merrick Garland was denied a hearing with 238 days before the election. There was no possible justification for proceeding with the nomination, but Trump and McConnell did anyway.
Naturally, Democrats bemoaned the Republicans’ haste. Coney Barrett was confirmed within 30 days of the announcement, the quickest since Chief Justice Roberts’ confirmation in 2005. When Democratic senators questioned both the rush attempt and her lack of experience, Coney Barrett responded that she had turned over 1,800 pages of documents addressing her 30-year record. By contrast, her immediate predecessors presented much more – Kagan, 170,000 pages; Gorsuch, 180,000; Kavanaugh, more than a million.
Not a single senate Democrat voted for Coney Barrett’s confirmation. She’s the first Supreme Court justice since 1869 not to receive a single vote from the minority party.
A Lasting Legacy
The conservative supermajority on the current Supreme Court has been assembled through flagrant disregard for tradition, bipartisanship, and even the Constitution. Each of the three was put in place under dubious circumstances that required rejection of precedent and abandonment of reason. For as much credit as Trump gets for flooding the court with his judges, none of it would have been possible without McConnell’s shameless distortion of procedural norms. Like a petulant child who’s about to lose a game, he changed the rules to secure his desired outcome.
This is not to say that a Democrat in the same position wouldn’t do the same thing. But we haven’t seen that, so speculation is irrelevant. All we know is that McConnell did.
The January 6 hearings are showing us how close we came to having our democracy overthrown by a seditious megalomaniac. Millions of Americans believe an otherwise preposterous fabrication, that our election was stolen. It is a lie concocted by the old guard, terrified of losing the semblance of power they once held. Their backwards, racist, anti-feminist ideology seeks to return us to a time when people of color and women knew their place. Their big lie embodies their bigotry, seeking to subvert the will of a diverse electorate. In their minds, the will of people of color, women, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, and non-Christians is illegitimate. Theirs is the only true morality and the only valid vision.
Overturning Roe v. Wade is not the endgame. It is one landmark on a path of destruction of the principles of liberty and freedom, and restoration of the systems that oppress “the other.” As Justice Thomas openly admits, Friday’s decision paves the way for turning back the clock on contraception and gay marriage. (Interestingly, Thomas has been silent on Loving v. Virginia, which also uses the right to privacy to secure a right to interracial marriage.)
But even those are small pickings compared to the big picture. Filling the courts with judges to do their bidding was only the first phase of McConnell’s devious agenda. We are seeing the second phase unfold before our eyes, as Republic legislators across the country work to upend election laws, further marginalizing voters unlikely to agree with their policies. When the majority don’t agree with you, your best course of action is to silence the majority – to take away their voice.
The proposed changes to voting laws will undoubtedly favor Republic outcomes. This not only seeks to ensure the continued influence of a party that represents an increasingly minority viewpoint, but also floats the possibility of a re-emergent Trump or any of his successors that will move America closer to fascism.
These restrictive voter laws will inevitably find themselves before the courts. The next Presidential election might end up before the courts as well. McConnell has done everything to ensure he has the edge when that happens.

OOhh! YES UM hi hi can i please get🍲 ❤️ and ❔for Cerberus? THANK YOU
Of course, and thank YOU! 🍲 What’s their ‘get better’ strategy? Do they have one? Uh...well, not a good one. 😂 His first strategy, if it can be termed as such, is intense application of willpower for this just not to be happening, damn it. He does this every time, although to be entirely fair to him, he actually does manage to shake off milder colds regularly enough that he's not just totally delusional about this stuff. And he's not used to getting sick but he is used to being able to impose his will to achieve a desired outcome, so...he'll pretty much never just accept his fate in this regard. Once he's undeniably sick, though, and has begrudgingly accepted that no amount of willpower is going to do a damn thing about that, he'll look after himself reasonably well, in that he'll do his best to stay warm, and he will take meds (not without significant complaining about both having to do so and the inefficacy of the godawful stuff) and drink tea and eat soup and the whole deal, BUT. He's usually terrible at actually resting properly - unless told to do so, he probably won't - and he is also terrible at sticking to recommended doses of medication. And he's certainly not averse to the occasional glass of cognac or merlot getting included in the mix, too. This can have...entertaining results. ;P And again, and as ever, if Kia's around, he'll do much better. <3 ❤️ What’s your favorite thing (or some of your favorite things) they’ve ever said about illness/sneezing in reference to themself? Asked and answered already here, but since there's (several) more than one answer to this one, the other one that always comes to my mind is: “Bless you, hon.” Kia moves to him, places a gentle hand on his arm. “Should I even ask how your day’s been?”
“Argued with Aera, sneezed a lot. I’m fairly sure that covers it.” With a sharp, strong sniffle, he pushes newly disarrayed midnight from his face, manages a sardonic half-smile for his bonded. “You, darkling?”
(From Much Better) ❔If asked, “Are you okay?” while sick, how would they phrase their response? Does it depend on who’s asking? His most common answer, by a fair margin, is "I'm fine", delivered in whichever tone fits the circumstance. He's as likely to say this calmly and gently as he is to practically snarl it, and yes, it does depend very much on who's asking, and what else is going on. His other most likely answer, though, is "I'm alright," or - and this one is a tell, if you know him well - "I'll be alright." Both of these indicate he's probably not, actually, and particularly the second one. He'll also use "I've been better" - this, like "I'll be alright", definitely indicates that he is not, in fact, okay. If Cerberus is asked if he's okay and he just openly admits that he isn't, something is very wrong with him indeed. Kia is, as always, the exception here, but even then, he's often avoidant with this question as he never wants to worry her.

Jacques Villeneuve questions Charles Leclerc's title-winning credentials after 'little mistakes'
Legendary former F1 world champion Jacques Villeneuve questions Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc's title-winning credentials... and claims he won't claim the title until he stops making 'little mistakes' Jacques Villeneuve is not sure Leclerc has what it takes to win the title The former world champion claimed Leclerc has made several 'little mistakes'  Leclerc's early 46-point lead on the standings has been wiped out by Verstappen The Red Bull driver has now pulled 49 points clear as he seeks his second title   By Dominic Hogan For Mailonline Published: 10:39 BST, 25 June 2022 | Updated: 10:40 BST, 25 June 2022 Jacques Villeneuve has questioned whether Charles Leclerc has the necessary credentials to win the Formula One World Championship.  The former world champion believes Leclerc's reversal of fortunes in this year's competition is down to a number of errors, and claims that the 24-year-old will not win the title until these mistakes are ironed out.  The Ferrari driver raced into a 46-point lead over Red Bull's Max Verstappen after several dominant displays early in the season but has since only finished in the top two twice in seven races.  Ferrari's Charles Leclerc has thrown away a big lead to trail Max Verstappen by 49 points The Canadian, who won the title in 1997 for Williams, told the F1 Nation Podcast: 'He's super-quick, but right now he still makes a few little mistakes that he shouldn't. 'Imola, for example, then he's not helped by the team. That's the energy they all have together. 'Right now we know he's fast, he's aggressive, is he a world champion? Is he like Max? How is he under pressure when it's money time for the championship? 'That's what we still need to find out.' Villeneuve's claims followed after a disappointing fifth-place finish for Leclerc after starting from the grid, having taken new power unit and engine parts ahead of the race weekend.  Jacques Villeneuve told the F1 Nation Podcast how 'little errors' have hurt the Monegasque And as good as Ferrari and Leclerc started the season, winning two of the first three races, a combination of mechanical failures and poor strategy has seen the Italian powerhouse fall further behind Red Bull.  Nowhere was Ferrari's inefficacies more apparent than at the 24-year-old's home race in Monaco, where he failed to win despite holding pole.  The Italian constructors called both drivers in to the pits meaning Leclerc was stuck in a queue behind his team-mate Carlos Sainz and lost valuable time and track position to fall to a disastrous fourth-place finish.  Then at Montreal Leclerc struggled to make up the necessary ground as he got caught in the middle of a congested middle order as Ferrari's gamble with his care ultimately failed.   Leclerc struggled to make up ground after starting at the back of the grid, finishing in fifth Villeneuve added: 'When you're in a Ferrari, you should only have a Red Bull in front of you. 'Before the race, they took those penalties because it's Montreal, and in their minds, the worst they could finish was P4 having [Sergio] Perez still in the race – and they didn't. 'That also shows how good Lewis [Hamilton] was because he was actually in front of a Ferrari. There was also a safety car that allowed Charles to get close to the pack, and he finished fifth. 'It's good salvaging of points, but it's not good enough. They had a poor pit stop and got out behind four cars instead of ahead of them. 'Fighting to get those positions killed their tyres, and that's why they didn't get the Mercedes in the end.' The Upsurge of Kitchen Remodeling Initiatives Near Me
In the ever-evolving world of home improvement, kitchen remodeling near me has surfaced as an increasingly sought-after service. Homeowners are acknowledging the kitchen's importance by investing in its aesthetic and functional overhaul.
The Rationale Behind Kitchen Remodeling:
Most people regard their kitchen as more than just a basic cooking space - it's a pivotal gathering spot for family and friends. Integral to the framework of any home, the kitchen often doubles up as a place hosting delightful dinners and heartwarming conversations. Consequently, giving this space a makeover can boost not only the property value but also enrich living standards dramatically.
Understanding The Full Scope of Kitchen Remodeling:
Whole kitchen remodeling is an ambitious endeavor involving significant changes from floor to ceiling. It entails rearranging the layout, replacing cabinetry, updating appliances, enhancing lighting, installing flooring, and altering paint or wallpaper.
The strategy here revolves around harmonizing these elements while ensuring functionality remains uncompromised. By integrating state-of-the-art appliances with personalized aesthetics of cabinetries and countertops into your existing spatial arrangement, you're facilitating an incredible transformation that accentuates comfort and convenience.
Deciding Between Kitchen Resurfacing & All-out Renovation:
Choosing between resurfacing or overhauling depends on individual expectations mixed with structural obligations. In some cases, sprucing up surfaces might suffice to revive appearance; refacing cabinets and repainting walls often leave kitchens looking refreshed without going all out on rebuilding efforts.
Alternatively, if your kitchen poses issues beyond trivial wear-and-tear insults—like outdated amenities or inefficacious design meddling with utilization—you might need comprehensive kitchen remodeling services.
Incorporating Personalized Touches in Your Space:
In addition to rejuvenating your long-loved cookhouse region's persona via remodeling projects near me, adding bespoke components pertinent to your unique style, cooking habits, and space management preferences can make you fall in love with your kitchen all over again.
Kitchen Remodeling Impact Beyond Cooking Zone:
Kitchen remodeling influences aren't bound by the confines of a single room. Bathrooms are another zone where components like cabinetry, countertops, and utilities could mimic the kitchen's remodel to maintain a uniform theme throughout the property.
This aspect brings us to an intriguing opportunity that general contractors have increasingly been offering—combined kitchen and bathroom remodeling packages. These integrated service offerings streamline design continuity while saving substantial cost and time implications related to handling separate projects.
The Takeaway on Kitchen Remodeling:
Taking on a kitchen remodeling project might seem demanding initially—from finalizing designs to selecting materials and juggling costs. Considering such changes' remarkable outcomes, though, it's all worth the meticulous planning and execution. Sparse few home improvement initiatives compared with revamping our kitchens when it comes to boosting house value or escalating living satisfaction effectively.
As homeowners are increasingly appreciating these redeeming factors, requests for adept contractors providing kitchen remodeling near me have surged in recent times. By availing of their expert Project Planning Assistance throughout the complex transformational journey, homeowners ensure that they strike the optimal balance between their dream design aspirations and feasibility constraints—the secret recipe for spectacular cooking space facelifts.

Roma: Giunta capitolina approva Piano Merci
Tumblr media
Roma: Giunta capitolina approva Piano Merci. #notizie #news #breakingnews #cronaca #politica #eventi #sport #moda Read the full article

El Salvador votes with Nayib Bukele poised for second presidential term
Tumblr media
Voters in El Salvador are casting their ballots in presidential and legislative elections that are largely about the tradeoff between security and democracy.
With soaring approval ratings and virtually no competition, President Nayib Bukele is almost certainly headed for a second term.

For the first time since civil war ended in 1992, the Central American country will vote under a state of emergency imposed for Bukele’s gang crackdown that slashed homicide rates but drew criticism for human rights violations.
Bukele, who polls as Latin America’s most popular leader, is also expected to expand his hold over the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador in Sunday’s elections.
An estimated 69.9 percent of voters approve of his re-election bid, despite questions about its constitutionality: Before Bukele, presidents in El Salvador had historically been limited to one term.
With little need to campaign for himself, Bukele focused on promoting his Nuevas Ideas party, which holds 56 seats in the 84-member assembly.
The overall number of seats has been reduced to 60 under a reform he led, which critics say will make it much harder for smaller parties to get enough votes to get in.
In 2022, the legislature also approved a law allowing Salvadorans to vote abroad. Under that reform, all foreign ballots – which tend to favour Bukele – will count towards the department of San Salvador, which has the most undecided seats, according to the Washington Office on Latin America, an NGO promoting human rights.
Alternating in power for some three decades, the conservative Nationalist Republican Alliance (ARENA) and leftist Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN) were discredited for corruption and inefficacy. Their presidential candidates have been polling in the low single digits.
Bukele, who often spars with foreign leaders and foes on social media, came to power in 2019, trouncing El Salvador’s traditional parties with a vow to eliminate gang violence and rejuvenate the stagnant economy.
He has campaigned on the success of his draconian security strategy that saw authorities suspend civil liberties to arrest thousands of suspected gang members without charge. The detentions led to a collapse in nationwide murder rates and transformed the poor Central American nation that was once among the world’s most dangerous.
“I would vote for Bukele because of the work he has done so far,” Juan Carlos Rosales, 44, a systems engineer in the capital San Salvador told the Reuters news agency. “The improvement in security is palpable.”
Still, despite Bukele’s solid base, some analysts question how long voters will back his strongman approach, particularly as more people feel its sting.
Under his rule, El Salvador has one of the highest incarceration rates in the world, with an estimated two percent of its adult population behind bars.
Bukele has credited his “mano dura” or “iron fist” tactics for causing that number to tumble to just 7.8 homicides out of every 100,000 people — the lowest in Central America.
Rights groups have warned El Salvador’s democracy is under attack.
Bukele has largely dismissed those concerns, at one point changing his profile on X, to say: “World’s coolest dictator”.
His biggest challenge is the state of the economy, Central America’s slowest growing during his time in power. More than a quarter of Salvadorans live in poverty.
The International Monetary Fund, which is negotiating a $1.3bn bailout with El Salvador, in late 2023 described the country’s fiscal situation as “fragile”.
In a post on X this week, Bukele pledged to bring about changes. “There is still a huge amount to do,” he said, “but, step by step, we will resolve entire decades of looting and neglect.”

Let it be known that scholars will also point to the UN’s anemic response to Russia’s actions in Ukraine, combined with it’s relative non-action on Israel beyond a few harsh words, as gross failures on the part of this body.
I think it’s lackluster leadership, poor management, inefficiency, inefficacy will lead the international body into irrelevancy. It was literally created to prevent war and yet here we are. Like its predecessor, the League of Nations, the UN lack of effective measures for peace enforcement. And those measures it does have, it does not utilize. Why? Because there are inherent limitations in any structure of international peace which depends on the unanimity of great powers (hegemons). So it is either toothless or it chooses to be.
There need to be sweeping reforms to the UN if we truly want an international body that prevents, condemns, and addresses violence and war internationally. And it will require a very critical look at the existence of the “Security Council.”
Abandoning the UN wholesale would be a strategic error, imho. I think the UN can absolutely be used by nations to find agreement where possible, resolve grinding conflicts, and authorize peacekeeping missions. But,I do believe that in order to get things done, nations are going to have to diversify their statecraft strategies and expand their multilateral options, including utilizing regional arrangements that unite specific nations, as we see with the Arab and Islamic summit.

Why Has Traditional Marketing Funnel Stopped Being Effective
Tumblr media
Marketing has always been about getting your product in front of the right people and funneling them towards making a purchase. But what if the funnel itself is broken? The traditional marketing funnel doesn’t seem to work like it used to.
Why is that? Could we do something about it, and if so, how?
Stay tuned: We will explore this topic in detail in today’s blog post!
What is the Traditional Marketing Funnel?
A traditional marketing funnel is a tool used by businesses to track the journey of a potential customer from initial awareness all the way through to purchase.
By understanding where each customer is in the funnel, businesses can tailor their marketing efforts to maximize conversions. The funnel comprises four key stages: awareness, interest, consideration, and purchase.
Customers enter the funnel at the awareness stage, where they become aware of a problem or need that they have. As they move into the interest stage, they start researching potential solutions. In the consideration stage, they narrow their options and evaluate which product or service is right for them. Finally, they reach the purchase stage, where they decide and take action.
By understanding the traditional marketing funnel, businesses can better map out their marketing strategies and ensure they effectively reach their target audience.
However, recent years have seen many changes that have led to the inefficacy of the traditional funnel. Several factors account for this. Let’s look at them.
Why Do You Need to Bid Traditional Funnel Goodbye (ASAP)?
The Proliferation of Choice
The last few years have seen a dramatic increase in the number of options available to consumers. Thanks to the internet, customers now can access an endless array of products and services at their fingertips. And with so many options available, they are no longer willing to settle for second best.
The traditional marketing funnel becomes less effective because customers are no longer loyal to one brand or product. They might not know what they want, so they research more. They also might research products that they don’t end up buying. This behavior shows that customers no longer follow the premise on which the traditional sales funnel is based.
The Customer Journey is No Longer Linear
There is no longer a straight line between customer and service provider. Customers can research a product online and then purchase it in-store. Or, they can see an ad for a product online and buy it from a different website.
The traditional marketing funnel doesn’t account for this non-linearity, so businesses struggle to track customers’ journeys. With this, they cannot effectively target their marketing efforts and maximize conversions.
The Power Shift from Businesses to Consumers
The internet has also led to a power shift from businesses to consumers. In the past, companies had more control over customer information. They could use this control to their advantage, influencing customers’ purchase decisions.
Nowadays, however, customers have access to a wealth of information at their fingertips. They can read reviews, compare prices, and find the best deals with just a few clicks. It makes it harder for businesses to influence their purchase decisions.
The Rise of Social Media and Decline of Traditional Marketing Channels
Social media is another factor that has led to the inefficacy of the traditional marketing funnel. The use of social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook has changed the way that people consume information.
The public no longer relies on traditional media such as television and newspapers for their news. The majority of their information comes from social media instead.
The Influence of Millennial Consumers
These are excellent brand advocates. Millennial consumers are those who were born between 1980 and 2000. This generation is known for being tech-savvy, very particular, and discerning. They have proven the power word of mouth marketing. They are also more likely to trust peer recommendations over business marketing messages.
Greater Focus on Customer Experience
Customer experience is another important factor that has led to the inefficacy of the traditional marketing funnel. Before, businesses could get away with providing a poor customer experience because there were fewer options available to consumers. But now, customers can easily take their business to a competitor if they are not satisfied with the level of service they received.
The Fragmentation of the Media Landscape
The media landscape has also become increasingly fragmented due to the rise of the internet. People can get their information from countless websites, blogs, paid media, and social media platforms.
This development led to a massive increase in competition. Decades ago, businesses only had to compete with other businesses in their local area. But now, businesses need to compete with businesses from all over the world.
If Not Traditional Marketing Funnel, Then What?
B2B businesses need to adapt their marketing strategies to remain relevant and effective. They need to focus on creating a customer-centric marketing strategy that anticipates the changes in customer behavior.
What should you look for in a new marketing funnel?
Knowing that the customer should always be the focal point of your marketing efforts, this is what you should look for:
A Focus on the Customer Journey
You should put the customer’s needs and experiences at the center of your marketing efforts.
You can do this by:
Creating customer personas that represent your ideal customer
Designing customer journeys that map out the typical experiences a customer has with your product or service
Focusing on creating content and experiences that are helpful and relevant to customers at each stage of the buying process
An Integrated Approach
An integrated approach considers all the different channels and touch points that customers might use or encounter in their journey. It means thinking about how your website, social media, email, advertising, and in-person interactions all contribute to a cohesive customer experience.
Furthermore, it means understanding how each channel plays in the customer journey.
Personalization
Personalization is about creating experiences tailored to a customer’s individual needs and preferences. It’s about understanding what customers want and then giving them what they want.
You can do this in different ways, such as:
Using data collected from customers’ interactions with your brand to create more personalized experiences
Using customer segmentation to create different experiences for different groups of customers
Using customer profiling to create more personalized messages and content
A Data-Driven Approach
A data-driven approach means using data to guide your marketing decisions. It means accurately interpreting how your customers respond and understanding what they need by analyzing your data about their behavior. You can use that data to create more effective marketing campaigns and strategies.
Automation
Automation is the usage of technology to automate repetitive tasks so that you can focus on more strategic tasks.
You can use it to:
send automated emails to new or repeat customers based on their interactions with your brand
schedule social media posts ahead of time
use marketing software to create and track marketing campaigns
Scalability
Scalability means having a marketing strategy that can be easily adapted and expanded to meet the needs of a growing business.
It enables you to quickly and efficiently respond to changes in the market or customer behavior.
It can be done by:
Using marketing software that is designed for scalability
Working with a marketing agency that can help you scale your marketing efforts
Creating a team of in-house marketers that can be easily expanded
Your new marketing funnel should meet these needs if you want to thrive in modern business.
So, what is the best alternative?
Meet Digital Marketing Funnel
What is it?
The digital marketing funnel is the process companies use to turn potential customers into actual paying customers. The idea behind the digital marketing funnel is that by targeting a specific group of people and then providing them with relevant and targeted content, companies can lead them through the stages of awareness, interest, desire, and purchase.
This process is often compared to the old marketing funnel, which relies on more broad-based advertising and marketing techniques. However, it is important to note that there are several advantages to using a digital marketing funnel over a traditional one.
What makes it more effective than a traditional funnel?
First, digital marketing allows companies to target their audience more precisely. By targeting a specific group of people, companies can ensure that they are only reaching those who will be most interested in their products or services. It saves both time and money, as companies can avoid wasting resources on ads that their target audience will not see.
Second, the digital marketing funnel allows companies to track the progress of their campaigns more accurately. With analytics tools, companies can see how many people are seeing their ads, which pages they spend the most time on, and what actions they take after seeing the ads. You can then use this information to fine-tune the campaign for maximum effectiveness.
Finally, the digital marketing funnel allows companies to create a more personalized experience for their target audience. Companies can use personalization techniques to ensure that each person who sees their ad feels like it was created just for them. It helps to build brand loyalty and increase the prospect that they will make a purchase.
Digital Marketing and Search Engines
Search engine optimization or SEO is among the most important aspects of the digital marketing funnel. It is the process of making sure that your website appears as high as possible in the search results for relevant keywords.
Higher rankings in search results make you more likely to get clicks from potential customers. And once someone has clicked on your website, it is crucial to have relevant and targeted content that will lead them through the purchase process.
There are other search engines besides Google, of course. And while optimizing for them may not be as important as optimizing for Google, it is still worth doing if you want to reach as many people as possible.
Conclusion
The traditional marketing funnel is no longer as effective as it once was. This is due to the rise of social media, the power shift from businesses to consumers, the influence of millennial consumers, and other factors. These changes require businesses to adapt their marketing strategies. The digital marketing funnel is a more effective alternative to the traditional marketing funnel. It is more precise, trackable, and personalized. With it, you can both acquire and retain customers skillfully.
FAQs
Here are other questions about the traditional marketing funnel that we have not discussed in the article.
What is a marketing funnel?
A marketing funnel is a process by which companies identify and track potential customers as they move through the purchase process. Marketers use funnels to map out customers’ journey from first learning about your product or service to purchasing it. Marketing funnels typically involve various stages, each with its own set of activities and corresponding goals. For example, at the top of the funnel (TOFU), your goal may be to generate brand awareness and interest in your product or service. As potential customers move down the funnel, your goals may change to generating leads, optimizing conversion rate, or increasing customer retention.
What is a linear funnel?
A linear funnel is a type of sales funnel that relies on a straight sales pipeline. In other words, it’s a sales process that moves customers through a series of steps from awareness to purchase. The linear funnel is often contrasted with the circular, or nurture, funnel, which allows for more customer movement and engagement at each stage of the funnel.
Is the traditional marketing funnel dead?
The traditional marketing funnel is no longer as effective as it once was, but that doesn’t mean it’s completely dead. The marketing funnel is a tried-and-true method for driving customers through sales. However, in the age of digital marketing, some experts have proclaimed the death of the funnel. Although the internet has transformed how consumers research and purchase products, the funnel is still an important tool for marketers. The key is to adapt the funnel to account for the new reality of digital marketing.

Overturning Roe Is McConnell’s Legacy as Much as It Is Trump’s
With yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling, overturning Roe v. Wade and 50 years of legal precedent, has left a majority of Americans feeling troubled, upset, and angry.
This not only seeks to ensure the continued influence of a party that represents an increasingly minority viewpoint, but also floats the possibility of a re-emergent Trump or any of his successors that will move America close to fascism.
These restrictive voter laws will inevitably find themselves before the courts. The next Presidential election might end up before the courts as well. McConnell has done everything to ensure he has the edge when that happens.

I feel like the increased availability of vegan food in lots of places, including vegan versions of signature foods by massive corporations & chains (I just found out that Krispy Kreme does a vegan doughnut???) somehow simultaneously proves the efficacy and the laughable inefficacy of veganism as boycott strategy
