your muscles were aching, your head pounding like a bass drum and you could barely breathe with your stuffy nose. you had to be in class in an hour but getting out of bed was a daunting mission.
you rolled over, clinging to the warmth of your bed, hoping a few more minutes might work a magic fix. and, before you knew it, you were out like a light.
you’re woken up two hours later by the sound of your phone ringing.
"hey, where are you sweetheart?" you picked up the phone without even checking the caller. once you recognize the familiar voice, you immediately snap into a sitting position, rubbing the sleep from your eyes.
"oh my god, bin, i’m so sorry i overslept," you confess. you hear background chatter and figure hanbin is already at the coffee shop for your study date. he promised to help you with your finals, despite his busy schedule.
hanbin's voice carries genuine concern. "it’s okay, your voice sounds tired, are you feeling alright?"
“i’m okay," you hesitantly admit, "just feeling a bit under the weather. i'm so sorry for making you wait."
you downplay your ailment, though you can never fully deceive hanbin; his perceptive nature sees through your attempt to minimize the situation. the guilt starts settles in.
"It’s alright, i'm coming over," he reassures you with his signature comforting tone. there's not a single trace of annoyance in his voice, even though he's been patiently waiting for you for the past thirty minutes.
"no! it's okay. I know you're busy, and you made time for me to help with studying, and—" you start to babble, but hanbin interrupts with a soft chuckle.
"my schedule's never too packed for you. plus, it gives me an excuse to escape practice." he speaks in that sing-songy voice you adore, prompting a genuine smile from you.
"well, in that case, i'm glad i could rescue you from the clutches of boredom."
he laughs, "exactly. I’m bringing some medication, tea and cuddles."
true to his word, a few minutes later, there's a gentle knock on your door. you’re greeted with a bear hug and whisker dimples.
“how are you feeling beautiful ?” you can't help but grimace at the pet name, your hair's a mess, you’re pretty sure there’s a toothpaste stain on your sweatshirt, and the fever's turned you into a bit of a sweat machine.
"i look awful," you grumble, stealing a quick glance at your reflection in the small corridor mirror. hanbin's eyebrows furrow, he's quick to interrupt your self-critique.
"you always look beautiful to me," he adds, a reassuring smile accompanying his words. he then, presses his palm against your forehead, seamlessly slipping into concerned-mom-mode. his eyes pop wide, and his lips pull a total 'o' move – the classic hanbin surprise face.
"you're burning up!" he exclaims, guiding you to the couch with a gentle urgency, concerned that standing might tire you out even more. your dizziness was palpable; even reaching the front door felt like a monumental effort.
"did you eat something since this morning?" hanbin questions while putting the grocery bags on the kitchen island, his focus shifting to the small pharmacy bag.
"no, i felt too nauseous," you admit, your voice laced with a hint of shame.
he pauses, worry etched across his features, but he swiftly transforms it into a warm beam, the last thing he wants is to make you feel bad. "no worries, love. let's get you cozy first,"
he disappears into your room, returning with a fluffy blanket and a pile of cushions. he arranges the cushions, making sure they cradle you just right. the blanket, soft and inviting, is draped over you, and he tucks its edges gently, creating a cozy nest.
you can't help but admire his simple yet caring gestures. there's a warmth in his eyes, a quiet assurance that makes you feel secure.
"better?" he asks, his eyes searching yours for any sign of discomfort.
“yes, thanks bin, you're an angel” you grab his hand, trying to convey your appreciation as best as you can — can’t risk a kiss in your current state. hanbin takes your hand in his, and kisses each of your knuckles softly, you feel like your heart might explode. in moments like these, you wonder how you got this lucky.
“no need to thank me, now, you need to take your medication…" he makes his way to the kitchen and rummages through the grocery bags, revealing an array of medicine.
he hands you a cup of water along with a few pills and another cup filled with a suspiciously white liquid. "i know it looks like a lot, but the pharmacist promised it should work wonders,"
you nod reluctantly, eyeing the medicine-filled cup. you take a sip of the chalky liquid, the taste makes your face scrunch up in immediate disgust.
"ugh, it's gross," you whine, hanbin chuckles at your distaste.
"you did it! now, the water to wash away the icky aftertaste," he hands you the water with an encouraging smile. "bottoms up!”
you manage a small grin, appreciating his encouragement, and with a final gulp, you conquer the medicine ordeal.
"now, about the nausea, how about a little snack, you can’t take more medicine on an empty stomach" hanbin suggests, you manage a weak nod, grateful for his attention. as he heads back to the kitchen, you can't shake the lingering discomfort; the idea of ingesting any food makes you feel even more nauseous but you don’t want to discourage your boyfriend.
he returns with a plate of crackers and slices of apple, “you don’t have to finish it all,” he hands you the fork with an encouraging nod then turns on the TV and puts on your comfort show, in the hopes that having distraction will make it easier for your stomach to handle the meal.
hanbin watches you eat with a mix of hope and concern, his eyes searching for signs of improvement. after a few bites, your stomach rumbles, and you reluctantly set down your fork. he doesn't want to force you to eat but on the other hand that the lack of nutrition might make you feel worse.
"just one more bite, okay?" hanbin insists, his voice soft. instead of waiting for your response, he picks up a piece of apple and brings it to your lips, offering it with a reassuring smile. "small bites. we'll take it slow."
you take a deep breath before taking another miniscule bite, but as hanbin's hopeful gaze meets yours, the nausea suddenly intensifies. without warning, you get up abruptly, rushing to the bathroom as your stomach rebels. your boyfriend follows, concern etched on his face. you wish he didn’t but he holds your hair gently as you vomit, the sound echoing in the small space.
“i'm so sorry," each retch is accompanied by a twinge of shame, intensified by the fact that fever has left you a bit delirious. you can't help but shed a few tears. yet, through it all, hanbin remains unwaveringly calm and gentle, rubbing your back soothingly.
"shh, it's okay” he repeats, his voice a steady anchor in the storm. he stays by your side, offering comfort as you navigate through this less-than-pleasant moment. as you finish, he helps you rinse your mouth, his touch gentle against the fatigue and fever.
guiding you back to the living room, he reassures, "take your time," and tucks you under the blanket. "if you're not up for eating, we can try again later."
you stare at his expression, he looks even more concerned than before, and you're not sure why but an odd inclination to cry takes hold. maybe it's because hanbin is right here, taking care of you, even handling the less glamorous parts without seeming annoyed or bothered in the slighest. your thoughts became a muddled blend of exhaustion, an overwhelming swell of gratitude, and an uneasy undercurrent of guilt,
as you struggled to fend off the fever-induced haze in your mind, you hadn't noticed hanbin quietly settling beside you, extending a glass of water. "small sips,"
you accept the glass, your body still tense from the earlier ordeal. "i'm sorry," you repeat while trying to supress the sob that threatens to escape your lips.
"hey, don't be sorry," he says, wiping away a tear with a tenderness that melts the tension, his thumb gently caressing your cheek. "i'm the one who made you eat when you didn't feel like it. we'll take it one step at a time, okay?" his soothing voice intensifies your emotions, and you find yourself shedding a few more tears, feeling extra awful with your scratchy throat and stuffy nose.
being the empath that he is, hanbin seems on the brink of tears himself, but he doesn't succumb. instead, he gently rubs your back and strokes your hair, humming your favorite songs in an attempt to help you calm down.
"think you need some sleep," he whispers after a few minutes. you nod weakly, and he helps you shift into a more comfortable position, fluffing the pillows and adjusting the blankets.
"anything hurting?" he asks while tucking you in, his fingers gently ensuring the edges of the blankets cocoon you snugly.
"my whole body is aching," you murmur, the exhaustion evident in your voice. moments later, hanbin returns from the kitched with warm heat packs, their comforting weight carefully arranged on your body. as he tends to you, the furrow on his brow and his careful, deliberate movements betray the emotional toll it takes on him to witness you in discomfort. he refrains from asking more questions, not wanting to exhaust you or burden you; he still feels a bit guilty from the ealier nausea ordeal.
before he even gets the chance to check on you again, you've already drifted off to sleep. when you slowly open your eyes two hours later, hanbin is still hovering over you, changing the wet cloth on your forehead with a fresh, cool one.
"hey sleepyhead, feeling better?" he asks, gently stroking your cheek. you nod slowly, his cool hand soothing your warm face.
now that your mind is clearer and the fever has gone down, you feel the shame settle in — you've never been this vulnerable in front of hanbin, you know he doesn't mind taking care of you but you feel sorry nonetheless.
"thank you again, for taking care of me, i was a complete mess earlier," you shyly blurt out.
"it's what i'm here for my love," in response, he graces you with that infectious smile, reminiscent of fluffy clouds and blooming spring flowers.
hanbin leaves your side momentarily but returns with a steaming mug of ginger tea, its comforting aroma filling the room.
"here, this might help you feel even better," he says, handing you the mug. the warmth of the tea and his comforting presence start to chase away the stiffness in your body.
hanbin settles down beside you, wrapping his arms around you in a gentle embrace.
"You know," he starts with a mischievous glint in his eye, "you owe me. i've been exposed to your germs," you chuckle and hanbin's relieved to see you laugh.
"i don't mind as long as I get to cuddle you like this," you say, sinking deeper into the embrace.
"even when I'm all sweaty?"
"you did it for me, i don't see why i wouldn't do it for you," you say, your tone light but filled with genuine affection.
hanbin seems a bit taken aback by your response. even though he spends his time taking care of the people around him, accepting the same level of care from others has always been a bit challenging for him. it's as if he fears it might compromise his dependable attitude. however, ever since you started dating, he's been gradually getting used to the idea and the same goes for you — taking care of each other even in the messiest moments felt more natural.
"you've got yourself a deal. just promise you won't judge the sweaty, sickly version of me too harshly."
you playfully roll your eyes, "bring it on, i'm ready for it warts and all,"
with a smirk, he leans in, planting a gentle kiss on your forehead. "i'll hold you to that."

When you start university, everything is new and scary, until you find your safe haven in a cosy corner café and a cute barista working there.
➳ Characters: barista/uni student!Hanbin x uni student female!reader/you
➳ Genre: the fluffiest of fluff, uni au, barista au, slice of life
➳ Words: 2.9k
➳ Warning: mention of food, stress
➳ A/N: This story was very much inspired by Hanbin's tattoos (the title might have hinted at that...), and even though there's some info out there about what they mean to him, this story is purely fictional, so the explanation in the story is also just part of the storyline.
Also, thank you @dat-town for bearing with me while I was gradually falling for this boy 💕

It was spring when you first met Hanbin.
You had your first semester at university, all nerves and excitement, looking around the unfamiliar city and being in awe at how different it was compared to your hometown. Apart from visiting your grandparents in different cities, you had never travelled much, let alone spent time away from your parents. It was exciting and terrifying all at the time, and you didn’t really know how to be an independent and responsible adult (the one that you should have been), but you tried your best to find your footing.
After orientation week, your very first class was at 8am which meant having to grab coffee to keep you awake after tossing and turning in bed for hours the previous night, not knowing what to expect on your very first day. You stayed at a student accommodation a bit further from the city centre, and there was a cosy little café on the corner, so you hopped in to get your daily dose of caffeine before getting on the bus.
As you stepped inside, the little bell above the door signalled your arrival cheerily, and the sweet fragrance of freshly baked goodies wafted through the café. You stepped up to the corner, and while the boy in front of you was making his order, you examined the hand-written menu on the chalkboard behind the counter, pondering over what to get.
You were next in line in no time, and as the boy stepped aside, you found yourself face-to-face with the barista who smiled at you gently. There were no dark circles around his eyes despite the early hour, and his cheeks lifted slightly when he was smiling. He ruffled his jet-black hair when a few stray locks fell into his eyes and blinked at you patiently.
“Good morning! What can I get for you?” He inquired politely as he stepped aside, so that you could see the chalkboard behind him better. You smiled at him, grateful, already making up your mind about your order.
“Good morning! I’d like a medium almond latte and a…” Your voice trailed off as you looked at the pastry display counter, wondering if you should get something to munch on between your morning classes. There were a few baked goods that you had never tried before and they looked heavenly, but you wanted to stick to something familiar for the sake of your stomach on the first day of the semester. “An almond croissant to go, please,” you added, and looked back up at him, only to find his smile widening upon your order.
“So a medium almond latte with an almond croissant,” he noted, but there was a playful edge to his words which made you realise that it must have sounded pretty funny. You weren’t crazy about almonds, but you liked almond latte the most, and that croissant seemed really good.
“Yeah, that’s it,” you bobbed your head, your heart warming at the sight of his smile, before telling him that you would pay by card. While he was preparing your order, you tried not to stare too much, but it was difficult when he had such kind and gentle features. Anyone who looked at him could tell that he was a good-willed person, plus, add his broad shoulders, toothy smile and delicate features to the mixture, and boom… it was impossible not to look at him while he was busy concentrating on doing your latte, his dedication written on his face.
When he caught your gaze, his lips curled upwards timidly, and you couldn’t tell whether he was more shy or you were. You were sure that your face flushed, but you hoped that he deemed that it was because of the slightly warmer temperature in the café, not because of him.
“Here you go,” he said as he put the cup of coffee and a paper bag with the croissant on the counter in front of you. “Have a lovely day!” He wished with a tender smile when you reached for the goodies, and you reciprocated it, wishing him the same.
Little did you know, that was just the first of your many morning encounters with him.
Tumblr media
It was summer when you realised that you had fallen for Hanbin.
Throughout the semester, the little café had become your favourite spot around your student accommodation. It was where you got your morning latte, and it was where you worked on your assignments when you needed to get out of your small room to not get crazy there. Hanbin didn’t work every single time you were there, but the other baristas were just as kind and friendly. You also got to know that the woman who sometimes worked behind the counter was Hanbin’s mother, and she was also the one who owned the café. When you talked with her, you realised where the boy had gotten his kindness and consideration from.
On the other hand, when Hanbin was there, you always felt a bit more safe, a bit more comfortable. You couldn’t really pinpoint what it was about him - maybe his gentle smile or the way he gently patted your back to wake you up when you fell asleep on your laptop or the way his voice was like a lullaby, something that could envelope you in its warmth -, but you couldn’t go against what you were feeling. You just didn’t know whether he felt the same way about you because he seemed to be equally kind to all the customers.
Hanbin was a university student too, yet he helped out at the café whenever his schedule allowed him to do so, so it wasn’t rare to see him going to class or to come from class when you were already there. Since you usually saw him in a neutral coloured shirt with an apron in front, you never really paid much attention to how he dressed, but when he was off-work, he wore cotton shirts, light cardigans, casual jeans and such. He looked good in everything though.
However, on the very last day before you would go home for the summer break, Hanbin offered to walk you back to your accommodation. You hadn’t planned on staying past opening hours, but you had managed to doze off while scrolling on your phone, and the boy had to wake you up, explaining that it was time to close the shop altogether. Since it was late, he suggested walking you back, and despite your initial protests (that it was a well-lit street, that it wasn’t that far…), you gave in.
As you walked side by side, you stole a few glances here and there, and that’s when you noticed it… he wore a V-neck shirt this time, something that exposed the front of his chest a bit, and you couldn’t help yourself from noticing the tattoos on his skin. When he caught you staring, he also looked down and let out an audible ‘oh’ sound.
You immediately jumped in to apologise.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to stare. I just thought you had something stuck on you, I have never noticed that you have a tattoo…” You justified hastily, your voice trailing off at the end when you saw the boy’s laid-back expression. He didn’t look frustrated or amused, he looked how he usually looked, and that put your mind at ease. His following words even more so.
“It’s okay. I had it made there on purpose, it doesn’t bother me.”
Truth to be told, you had never been curious about others’ tattoos, but the sun, star and moon symbols on him made you wonder why he got those specific symbols. You didn’t know whether you had the right to ask about them, but since Hanbin was still looking at you, as if he was expecting you to say something more, you decided to go for it.
“What do they represent to you? If you don’t mind me asking, of course,” you clarified immediately in case it was a personal topic to him, but he didn’t seem offended. If anything, he seemed glad, and as you were walking under the dim lights of the nearby street lamps, the silence occasionally overthrown by the noises of traffic around, he let you know about the answer. How he believed that there’s light, darkness and beauty in everything, and how the universe was always there, watching, and he believed in it, that certain things happened for a reason as part of the universe’s calling.
You were in awe, not knowing how to profoundly phrase what you wanted to say to him, and he must have misinterpreted your silence because he added a few seconds later:
“I know it may sound silly…”
“No, no, that’s like… so beautiful that you think that way,” you voiced out, and you weren’t sure that you got your message across, hence you continued. “I also believe that what’s meant to be will happen, and that the universe has its own ways to make things happen.”
Hanbin smiled gently, somewhat relieved, and you reciprocated it, thinking that maybe this too… maybe him too… they were all part of the universe’s plan.
Tumblr media
It was autumn when you started getting closer with Hanbin.
The leaves might have turned, but your feelings for Hanbin had not changed, if only they had grown more. The truth is, the only thing you had forgotten about when you had bid your goodbye prior to summer break had been to exchange contacts. Since you had seen each other multiple times a week at the café, there had been no reason for you to stay in touch to keep the other updated about your days. On top of that, even though you had tried to look up his name on SNS, there had been quite a few Sung Hanbins, and some accounts were private while others didn’t have a profile photo.
So you had left it at that, clutching onto your memories with the boy, catching yourself daydreaming more and more often during the summer. Those months had never seemed so long before, and you had wondered whether you had crossed his mind as much as he had crossed yours. Your heart had fluttered whenever his wide smile, gentle voice or considerate actions had come to your mind, and it had been funny how he hadn’t even been there, yet, you had felt as shy as if he had been there in front of you.
With the autumn semester finally starting, your feelings came back in full force, heightening when you met at the café again. It was heartwarming how - despite the months without seeing each other - the place still felt like your little safe haven and how his smile still triggered the same reaction from you.
Afterwards, you cherished each and every meeting, each and every smile, each and every giggle and each and every slight touch. The boy also picked up the habit - or rather continued - of walking you back to your accommodation if he had the chance to do so, and you wished that walk could have been longer for it always felt like such a short span of time that you could spend together. Until he suggested going to a dance festival with him, and there was no turning back from there: you started hanging out outside of the café too, visiting the riverside on weekends, visiting exhibitions, attending concerts, going to the cinema and checking out other cafés and restaurants. Anything and everything that came to your mind, and that you thought the other would enjoy.
All because by that point, you knew each other well enough to suggest such things.
It was winter when you became official with Hanbin.
Even though the weather had become colder, your heart had never been warmer. Being with Hanbin was like constantly being bundled up in a warm blanket, being taken care of and feeling all fuzzy. He was the epitome of a comfort person: whenever you felt down, he was there to listen to your concerns, he was there to cheer you up when you were questioning your choice of major, he was there to wake you up when you fell asleep on your notes at the café, and he was there to keep you safe from careless cyclists passing by on the walk to your accommodation.
Since both of you were university students - albeit went to different universities -, you could bond over group project members that annoyingly slacked off, professors that seemed to get stuck in the past century with their presentation style, exam questions that seemed to ask the most unnecessary details from the hundredth slide and so on. It felt like sharing the same experience, and even if you studied different subjects and went to different institutions, that was just one more reason you enjoyed talking to him. He could talk so enthusiastically about topics that interested him (when it seemed like there were stars dancing in his big, bright eyes), and you loved his optimistic mind-set and hard-working personality.
However, both of you needed to let off some steam from time to time, so this particular week, you decided to walk to the top of the Namsan Tower, to take in the view of the vibrant city and its shining lights (including the Christmas decorations the city was dressed in since the beginning of December).
“Ah, I feel so out of shape,” you breathed out with a semi-nervous giggle as you were making your way up to the top. You did have weekly aerobics classes at uni, and you did walk a lot, but it seemed tiring to reach the top on foot, maybe because of your big coats and the slippery ground.
“We’re almost there. Hang in there!” Hanbin cheered you on with his hands balled into fists and a bright smile that reached his eyes. You smiled back at him, and maybe it was because of the dazzled state you were in or the uneven ground beneath you, but you felt your feet slip, and if it hadn’t been for Hanbin reaching for you, you might have fallen onto your back.
“Are you okay?” The boy asked, worry painting his features solemn, and you hated to see that tight line of his lips, so you bobbed your head right away and reassured him that you were fine. He seemed to believe you, but still didn’t let go of your arms. Instead, he slipped his fingers into yours, and pulled you with him as he took the next step towards the top.
You were thankful that you were dressed up warmly, your fluffy scarf covering half of your face, because you were sure that you were flushed like crazy. Even though you had been progressively more intimate with each other - you squeezing his hand when he was talking about something vulnerable because you noticed that it helped him to feel better, him wiping your tears when you broke down in front of him when you were questioning your choice of major, him placing his hand on your back to keep you from falling when a stranger pushed past beside you on the escalator, you helping him with his necklaces when they stuck on his shirt and slightly grazing his skin -, you had never hold hands like this before.
You made your way to the top while holding hands and staying close to each other, and it was definitely worth it. The view was stunning, and as you were taking photos of the scenery, tiny little white flakes fell from the sky.
“Hanbin, look! It’s snowing,” you shrieked excitedly like an overzealous kid, and grabbed one of the snowflakes that melted in your hand in no time. You really didn’t expect this, especially with such perfect timing.
“It’s the first snow,” he noted with a childlike smile that mirrored yours. For a few minutes, you just stood there, watching in awe how the objects and the scenery around you got a thin layer of white - like frosting on a cake.
Then, when your eyes met his, you couldn’t stop smiling. It was truly beautiful, and that warm, fuzzy feeling was there yet again, sending tiny little fireworks through your body. These feelings exploded even more when the boy stepped up to you, and helped to tuck your hair into your beanie and under your scarf, so that your locks wouldn’t get attacked by the sudden snow.
Your heart was hammering away rapidly, and you felt like you could burst any moment as he still just stood there, not stepping back. When he just kept looking at you like that, eyes warm, smile warm, hands warm, you didn’t have it in you to back away either. Instead, your lips pulled into a smile when his fingers slipped down to your hands, and he intertwined your fingers.
“I like you, y/n,” he confessed in that kind, caring voice of his, and there was no use doubting his words. His eyes spoke for themselves.
“I like you, too, Hanbin,” you answered within a heartbeat, and in that moment, you knew.
The universe was really watching.

merry christmas
pairing: sung hanbin x fem!reader
genre: best friends to lovers
in which: you and hanbin have your annual christmas sleepover
warnings: two idiots in love, cuddles, kisses, lowercase intended, not proofread !!!
series masterlist !!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so where do we begin?
you and hanbin have been friends for years. ever since you met in high school you became the best of friends after realising how compatible the two of you are. both of you were immediately drawn to each other and the amount of times you were mistaken to be a couple since then is more than you could count.
to be honest you saw where all these people came from with that point. you and hanbin do usually act couple-y with one another but never think much of it. i mean you go on study dates, coffee dates, walks together, he gets you flowers, takes you to the movies and so on. but that’s just what best friends do right?
wrong.
you can’t lie and say that you haven’t developed feelings for hanbin after years of doing all of these things but there’s nothing you could really do about it. so you don’t. you live happily in your delusions pretending that all of this is real.
one of the many couple-like things that the two of you do is your annual christmas sleepover. this tradition came to be a couple of months after your friendship began when you were 14 and your parents decided that your families will spend christmas together. hanbin and his family stayed over on christmas eve and you all opened your presents together the next day.
this tradition continues up until now, where both of you attend uni together and continue your completely platonic relationship.
so your currently setting up the apartment waiting for hanbin’s return from the store. he went to go pick up some snacks while you finished setting up the fort in the living room. the setup was cosy and warm. you managed to get some matching christmas pyjamas for the two of you to wear as well as matching mugs for your hot chocolate. the selection of movies was laid out in front of you while the pile of pillows and teddies was laying behind you.
just as you ran into your room to grab hanbin’s gift to place under the christmas tree the door opened and in walked your best friend.
“hey i’m back” he said as he walked through the door.
“bin you’re finally here” you ran to him after placing the gift down under the tree. you almost wrapped your arms around him before remembering that he’d been out while it was snowing so you instead unzipped his jacket and took it off for him, hanging it up on the hanger before embracing him in a hug. “right on time. i just finished setting up” you say into the embrace before letting go and looking up at him. your eyes meet his for a few seconds before you grab the bag of snacks out of his hand and bring them to the fort. “come on! put your pyjamas on!” you say and hold them out to him. he only chuckles at you.
“okay okay. i’ll be back in a second” he says and leaves to his room to get changed. soon he came back through to the living room with a gift in his hand. he walked over to the tree and placed it next to the gift bag that you had put there not long ago. he sat next to you. “so, what are we watching?” he said and reached out to pick up some of the cds which were laying on the floor before him.
“hmmm” you pretend to think while resting your chin on his shoulder to look at the movies. “maybe the grinch?” you say and pint to the cd in his hand.
“great pick” he said and popped open the cd’s box. “you get comfy, i’ll put it on.” he said and patted your head lightly. you moved back into the fort and got cozy under the blankets while waiting for him to put the movie on. you opened some of the packs of snacks that he brought just as he came to lay down beside you.
the movie started and as the plot rolled out you lay your head on hanbin’s shoulder. this was, again, quite a normal occurrence for you but this felt more intimate than normal seen as he reached out shortly after and laced your fingers together, holding your hand in his bigger one. it felt so warm. so comfortable. it was home.
and before you knew it, the first movie was over and on came another - you and hanbin only separating for the few minutes it took him to put on the polar express - and the two of you were back to your previous position. about halfway into the second movie you started to feel drowsy and started to drift away into dreamland on hanbin’s shoulder.
he, of course, noticed and only moved you so that you were laying right on his chest. for comfort he thought, but he wasn’t sure if it was yours or his. he must admit he completely melted at the sight of you peacefully sleeping on his chest, one hand wrapped around his torso and the other lightly gripping the shirt of the matching pyjama set that he had on and he could only hope that you’ll appreciate the gift he has prepared for you.
he soon found himself feeling a bit more tired and decided to head off to sleep - holding you tightly - but not before checking the time which now was 00:02.
“merry christmas my love” he whispered to you quietly before making himself comfortable in the small fort that you have built for the two of you.

you woke up warm and comfortable (with a blanket that fell off the fort on your face but comfy nonetheless) you yawned and stretched as you heard your back pop in a couple of places from sleeping on the floor. as you were stretching you felt the arms around your waist tighten around you. you were pulled into hanbin’s chest and found yourself with a small smile on your face as you melted into the warm embrace.
“merry christmas bin” you whispered to him after noticing he was awake.
“merry christmas y/n” he says with a sleepy smile while rubbing his eyes tiredly. both of you stopped and looked at each other. everything just felt so right at this moment - waking up in his arms and hearing his voice first thing in the morning. hanbin couldn’t help but reach out a hand to cup your cheek. “you’re so beautiful” he whispered so quietly you almost didn’t hear him. his eyes flickered down to your lips.
“wait” you whispered softly. “wait one minute” you said slightly louder and got up to grab the gifts under the tree. you gave him your gift. “open it please” you said and he lightly tore the neat wrapping paper.
he carefully removed the paper to reveal a sleek black box. he opened it and inside was a small silver chain bracelet with a small thin rectangle in which ‘forever’ was engraved in small lettering. he let his finger slide over the word as he examined the box. he soon came to realise that on the inside of the lid ‘i love you’ was written in fine gold print.
“i-“ he didn’t even know what to say. “thank you” he said and looked up at you with slight tears in his eyes. he couldn’t believe it it finally happened. “thank you so much” he wrapped his arms around you so tightly you almost could breathe. “i love you too” he whispered to you as you embraced him back.
you broke the hug and looked up at him with sparkling eyes. you cupped his cheeks in yours and brought his face to yours placing a light peck on his lips which he, of course, reciprocated.
“open mine” he said. and you did. he had gotten you a gorgeous golden necklace which had a small gold circle hanging from it on which both of your initials were engraved and a heart on the other side.
and on the lid of the box ‘i love you’ was written in fine gold print.

3 of Us - poly!haobin x reader
Tumblr media
m.list
pairing: haobin x reader
genre: angst with happy ending
synopsis: hanbin and hao have a fight that leaves you in the middle
words: .9k
You stared up at the ceiling. Sandwiched between Hanbin and Hao, unable to toss and turn, you found yourself incapable of even catching a wink of rest. Their backs were turned away, oblivious to your restless night.
Earlier that evening, Hanbin and Hao engaged in a heated argument sparked by Hao's perceived "flirting" with an old friend at the market. Hanbin's reaction stemmed from his deep affection for you; he became upset with Hao for appearing excessively friendly towards the girl in your presence. It's true that you experienced a twinge of jealousy, with a tightness in your chest as you observed the way Hao tilted his head and smiled at her—the same way he usually did with you.
Despite all of that, you hesitated to bring it up. After all, he isn’t in contact with her, so why harbor any resentment? However, even though you mentally decided to let it go, your feelings manifested in your expressions and actions. Throughout the rest of the day, a subtle pout lingered on your face, and when Hao inquired about something, your responses were brief. Hanbin took note of all of this, but didn’t want to make a scene.
The moment the three of you reached home, Hanbin immediately pounced on the opportunity to call him out.
“So you’re just gonna act oblivious?” Hanbin raised his voice. Hao only laughed, thinking Hanbin was joking. “That girl. You were so obvious!”
You stayed silent, not wanting to start a fight, nor participate in one.
“She was just a friend that I hadn’t seen in a while.” Hao explained, raising his hands.
“The way you were acting. It was just disrespectful. Do you not notice when y/n is upset about stuff like this?” Tears welled in your eyes. You dreaded sparking a conflict between them, silently praying that Hanbin wouldn't address the underlying reason for your uncharacteristic behavior, devoid of your usual affectionate demeanor.
“Why do you always have to speak for her? Do you enjoy causing problems?” That's when it escalated beyond its initial scope. When you resort to a personal jab, you lose sight of the main issue and attempt to deliver an even more hurtful blow.
The remark ignited a shouting match between the two, spiraling into a confrontation where the original cause of their disagreement became unclear. Anger clouded their judgment, rendering the argument directionless. Despite your plea for them to stop, they remained deaf to reason. Their conflicts were infrequent, only arising from trivial matters.
You just wanted it to end. Even if Hao’s actions hurt your feelings, you knew he didn’t have malicious intent. He was just a friendly person. You also know Hanbin only came at him because of his love for you.  He couldn’t stand to see you upset without an apology.
The remainder of the night unfolded in silence. Not a word was spoken. Tension hung thick in the air, palpable enough to be sliced with a knife. The anger was so intense that neither of them could bring themselves to talk to you. Each person carried out their nightly routine in solitude.
None of you were angry enough to sleep separately. You thought about it, but neither of them raised the idea. Hanbin went to sleep first, followed by you, then Hao. They slept on their sides, both facing away from you.
Sleep eluded you as you dwelled on the unfolding events. You beat yourself up for allowing them to sleep harboring anger. You played out alternate scenarios in your mind, envisioning a timeline where you intervened promptly, and everyone went to sleep in a comforting embrace. Yet, even in that hypothetical situation, you couldn't escape the possibility of making Hanbin feel guilty for defending you.
You tuned into the gentle rhythm of their breathing, observing the subtle rise and fall of their shoulders. Thoughts of the morning ahead invaded your mind, anticipating the impending silence. The last thing you wished for was them waking up with furrowed brows and lingering pouts.
The echo of their hurtful words played on a loop in your mind. You couldn't shake off the realization that your own jealousy had fueled the current situation. A quiet sniffle escaped you as tears traced a path down the side of your face, dampening your pillow.
The supposedly hushed sniffles didn't escape Hanbin's notice. He shifted to face you. "Trouble sleeping?"
Turning toward him, he glimpsed your slightly puffy eyes and pursed lips, prompting him to tenderly touch your cheek. "Is this about us? God, I'm so sorry, y/n."
"No need to apologize. It's my fault it happened in the first place," you self-criticized.
"It's not," he insisted, shaking his head vigorously. "Things got out of hand. At this point, it's nobody's fault."
“I just want it to be over. I don’t want anyone to be mad.” You held on to his hand.
Both of you directed your attention to Hao, who was now propped up on both elbows.
“I’m sorry. I was being dismissive and mean.” He leaned towards you.
“I’m sorry for not listening to you and being mean too.” Hanbin returned the apology.
“Now kith,” you said, earning a laugh from the both of them.
Hanbin positioned himself between the two of you, encircling his arms around you both, drawing you closer. You and Hao intertwine your hands over Hao’s chest, blowing air kisses at each other. The three of you drifted off to sleep, accompanied by a harmonious chorus of soft snores, just as it was meant to be.

Hanbin’s drunk confession
- Genre: confession, fluff
- Pairings: hanbin x gn!reader
- Warnings: mentions of alcohol, drunk hanbin
- Word count: 295
Tumblr media
One night, under the shimmering city lights,
Hanbin found himself at a lively gathering with friends. As the laughter and chatter echoed around him, he couldn't shake the nervous energy that had been building within him. The reason? You, the person he'd harbored feelings for.
As the evening progressed, Hanbin's inhibitions faded with each sip of the alcohol. When the time finally came to express what he had kept hidden for so long, he found himself standing in front of You, his words slightly slurred but his sincerity shining through.
"Y/n," he began, a boldness fueled by the liquid courage, "there's something I've been wanting to tell you” he hesitated “go on” you looked at him curiously “well I..you know I just really, really like you." he chuckled, his eyes forming a curved shape while his dimples became visible to your eyesight.
You were surprised by the unexpected confession, so you looked at Hanbin with a mixture of amusement and curiosity. The honesty in his eyes, despite the influence of alcohol, struck a chord within you.
Hanbin, now a blend of nerves and determination, continued, "I know this might be a bit out of the blue, but I couldn't keep it to myself any longer. You're amazing, and I can't help but imagine what it'd be like if we were more than just friends." he said, his words barely understood as he spoke out intoxicated by all the liquid he’ve consumed.
You were touched by Hanbin's vulnerability, you replied gently, "Hanbin, thank you for being honest. Let's talk about this when you're feeling a bit more like yourself, yeah?"
The night carried on, filled with laughter and shared glances between Hanbin and You. Despite the liquid courage, Hanbin's genuine confession opened a door to a conversation you both knew you needed to have, sober and sincere.

ZB1 as long-distance idol boyfriends
A/n: First of two posts today bc it's my birthday present to you. It makes no sense, but it does to me. Anywho enjoy <33
-
Jiwoong: *Proposes the idea of sending boxes full of each other's things, even video calls to do the unboxings.*
"I threw in some perfumes I want you to put on your hoodies." He smiled. "So don't forget to wear them."
"You could just spray the hoodies I'm sending?" You laughed. "Why do I have to wear them first?"
"It's literally not the same?" He scoffed playfully. "If you love me, you'll do it."
Tumblr media
Hao: *Misses you all the time. Will tear up when you joke about dropping everything to go visit him.*
"Don't play with me like that." He pouted. "I'll buy your ticket right now."
Tumblr media
Hanbin: *Counting down the days until you come visit. Shows you his marked calander.*
"Two more weeks~" He said in a sing-sone tone while pointing at the circled date. "Then you're stuck with me."
Tumblr media
Matthew: *Sends you boyfriend boxes at least bi-weekly. Needs to make sure you know he's always thinking about you.*
"I threw in a build-a-bear, too." He smiled at the screen. "There's also a couple letters I wrote for when you're having a tough time."
"Why is that the cutest thing ever?" You faked a sniffle.
"Hmm," He said playfully, a finger coming to his chin. "Maybe because I'm the best boyfriend ever?"
Tumblr media
Taerae: *Sends you a picture of an impulse-bought ticket and all his packed bags.*
"I couldn't wait." The text said. "So, I hope there's room for me by the time I land."
Tumblr media
Ricky: *Wants to take you out on dates when you go visit but you're always nervous about getting caught.*
"What if it's busy?" You pouted at the thought of his date idea.
"You don't have to worry, I already booked out the cafe." He smiled through the screen. "No one's gonna know."
Tumblr media
Gyuvin: *Uses any chance to try and coax you into catching a flight. (you miss all the shots you don't take((just pack a bag already))*
"We can fight." You rolled your eyes as he talked about how much he missed you. "If anyone's struggling, it's me."
"You'd have to fly over here to make that happen." He stuck his tongue out. "So, unless you're packing, I'd shut it."
Tumblr media
Gunwook: *You two plan video call movie dates and send each other your favorite local snacks.*
"I added some of your favorites, did you see?" He said, proud of himself. "I bought more, but they didn't fit in the box."
Tumblr media
Yujin: *Sneaks off to video call you when the time zones match up. Sometimes gets caught.*
"I'm currently packing your birthday present so is there any-" He said before the door busted open. "Can you at least knock?!"

summary: You were screwed. Absolutely, utterly screwed. Liking Hanbin was one thing, but the sudden change in how you felt about your best friend, Zhang Hao, was definitely not part of the plan. Liking both Hanbin and Hao was certainly a recipe for disaster. That's what you convinced yourself at least.
haobin x afab! reader
warnings: none
genre: mainly fluff, a bit angsty, university setting
word count: 5,133
★━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━★
You were screwed.
Absolutely, utterly screwed.
Liking Hanbin was one thing, but the sudden change in how you felt about your best friend, Zhang Hao, was definitely not part of the plan.
Not only was it clear that the man was interested in Hanbin himself, he also never really showed any particular interest in dating girls. Sure, he had dated Xiaoting, but that was back in middle school and it lasted for about two months before they mutually decided they were better off as friends.
Liking both Hanbin and Hao was certainly a recipe for disaster. Even if, and that is hypothetically of course, one of them returned your feelings, you would still not know what the right move was. How could you choose between the two people that make your every day the brightest when they are around?
Maybe this was payback for that one time you accidentally gave Matthew his seat mate's notebook instead of his and he ended up finding out about her long-time crush on him. You honestly wouldn't blame Chaeryeong for hating you. She had to spend the entire year sat next to the boy who rejected her.
No wonder this was happening to you now. Life was just throwing everything back at you.
"Earth to Y/N?"
"Huh?", you turned to look back at Ryujin, whose eyebrows were raised at you expectedly.
"Sorry, I spaced out. What were you saying?"
Ryujin scoffed, "Yeah, no shit. I've called your name at least 10 times."
You rolled your eyes at her, "Okay, that is an exaggeration."
"It's not an exaggeration when it comes to you."
You gave her your biggest pout at which she laughed at before her face turned stern again.
"Seriously though, what's on your mind?"
You quickly shook your head, "It's nothing."
Ryujin crossed her arms. She knew you too well. There were two people in your life you couldn't fool. Ryujin and Hao. You guessed it came with knowing them since all three of you were toddlers.
You hesitated, "I don't want to make it into a big deal."
Ryujin scoffed, "It clearly is though. This is not the first time you space out in the past days. And that frown on your face has become permanent at this point. You were even frowning when we went for BBQ last Friday. BBQ, Y/N! BBQ."
"Okay, okay!", you tried to calm her down, "I get it. I've been miserable. There's just a lot on my mind."
"Exactly! And I, as your best friend, want to listen to what's bothering you.", she reached to take your hand in hers as an encouraging gesture.
You sighed, "You know how I like Hanbin, right?"
She widened her eyes, "Holy crap! Are you actually finally admitting it?"
You squeezed your eyes as if in pain, "Ugh! Yes, I am admitting to liking Sung Hanbin. Now, do you want me to tell you what's going on or are you going to go on about how you were right all along."
She pinched her fingers and dragged them across one corner of her mouth to another as if zipping it.
"Okay. Basically, I don't think I only like Hanbin. Scratch that. I don't only like Hanbin."
She made a questioning expression, "So, you love him?"
"No, I mean I don't know. I know I like him a lot, but this is not what this is about. I like a second person as well."
Ryujin straightened her back in her seat, which clearly showed how intrigued she now was.
You couldn't believe you were about to admit to what had been tormenting you for weeks. In fact, you thought you would take this to the grave. Liking Hanbin was okay. Hanbin was a friend, but he was certainly not Hao. Hao, who approached you on the first day of nursery, because he was also from abroad and no other kid smiled at him as kindly as you. Hao, who held your hand at the age of six when you broke your leg, and you were wailing on the hard ground while he was praising you for how brave you were. Hao, who gave you the warmest of hugs when your first boyfriend broke your heart at the age of seventeen and assured you that you deserved the world. This was different. Liking Hao was different. It changed your relationship entirely and maybe that was something you weren't seeking.
You closed your eyes and took a deep breath, "I like Hao."
You said it. For the first time you admitted to liking your best friend out loud. Part of you did feel some level of relief, but another part felt utterly sick. As if you had quite literally spilled your guts out on the floor.
Ruyjin opened her mouth as if to say something, but then closed it again. You could tell she didn't expect the words that had come out of your mouth.
"That's okay you know.", is what she settled with.
"There is nothing wrong with liking Hao. I get it. He has always been there. At your best, at your worst. He makes you smile, laugh. He makes you happy. There is nothing wrong with it."
You looked outside the window of the coffee shop, your eyes dropping to a fallen autumn leaf completely isolated from the rest. Maybe it was quite a depressing thought to have, but you kind of felt like that leaf. Isolated. Surely, liking two people at the same time was weird, right? Especially, when one of them was your best friend and the other one was the person said best friend was undeniably infatuated with.
"I know. It seems like a big deal because it's Hao and part of me fears how this could change our relationship. But I know there is nothing wrong with how I feel. I just don't know why both. Why do I have to like both? And why must it be them? We all see how Hao and Hanbin are when together. They clearly like each other and I am just there. Like some sort of pest."
Ryujin smiled sympathetically at you.
"Well, I think we can't control who we like. That includes the number of people we can like at the same time. What you need to ask yourself is how important these feelings are to you and what is the best way to handle them. Personally, if you ask me, I think you should be honest with them."
You slumped in your seat, head tilting down to stare at your feet. Her warm hand slid out of yours.
"Of course, you'd say that. Some people don't have the same amount of bravery as you Ryu."
She leaned forward catching your hands again.
"You are wrong. You are the bravest person I know. You prove that every day by being here even after your parents moved back to your home country. You've made it so far and achieved so many things on your own. So, excuse me if you think I am misjudging the situation, but if the girl sitting in front of me can build a life of her own thousands of miles away from her family, she can certainly be honest with the people she loves."
In a way Ryujin was right. You had been through way more difficult times in your life and managed to persevere. In fact, this should be easier compared to many other situations you've found yourself in. Yet, it didn't. Perhaps, it was the fear that you would lose the people that made living so far away from your family less lonely. Hao was your family here. Hanbin had also made a cozy nest in your heart in the short span of time you knew him. In your head the risk of loss was there, albeit unrealistic. The logical version of yourself was well aware that Hao and Hanbin would never abandon you or your friendship due to non-reciprocated feelings, yet the emotional version seemed to be overtaking the logical one.
"I am scared of losing them.", you silently confessed.
The girl across you sighed, "I know how much they mean to you as people. I know you love them because they are good people. So, trust in that. If these two are really who you think they are, they would never judge you for the way you feel."
You smiled at her, "Maybe you are right".
Ryujin gleamed, "I know I am right."
You turned your head once again towards the direction of that isolated autumn leaf. Only this time, it wasn't alone. Somehow, it had found its way to the rest.
Somehow, you believed you would too. You believed you would find your way to them. After all, you were not alone.
★━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━★
Talking to them proved to be difficult. Whenever Hao seemed to have a spare moment, Hanbin was absent. Likewise, when Hanbin was available, Hao was busy with something else. It almost made no sense to you how these two who were always attached to the hip, were now like two magnets unable to stick together. It was almost as if the universe was plotting against you and soon you found yourself feeling defeated.
"Have you thought of just arranging to meet up with them?", Ryujin asked, before slamming her locker.
Of course, you had thought of it. You guessed that the only reason you hadn't opted for that solution was because you would rather do it spontaneously. On the other hand, meeting meant preparation. And preparation also translated to i-have-too-much-time-to-think-about-this.
You opened your mouth to reply to her when all of a sudden, the locker beside her slammed shut.
"Who is meeting up with who?"
It was Gyuvin.
"Stay out of it, you tall freak.", Ryujin pointed at him.
Gyuvin gasped, "That's absolutely vile behaviour from you, Miss Shin Ryujin. What have I ever done to you?"
Ryujin glared her eyes at him, "You freaking destroyed all the hard work I put on that shelf today with your uncoordinated long limbs."
"Hey! I didn't ask for these. If you want to blame someone, blame my parents.", the younger male protested before turning to you, "Anyway, who are you meeting up with?"
Ryujin slapped his arm, "Stay out of this."
"What? I am her friend. Don't I deserve to know what this is about? Plus, I am almost pretty sure it involves Hao or Hanbin to some extent."
You turned to him in panic, "How'd you know?"
Gyuvin smirked, "Please. When is anything ever not about any of them?"
"I've got other stuff I talk about aside from Hao and Hanbin.", you tried to defend yourself.
Ryujin grimaced, causing Gyuvin to laugh.
"You both suck.", you pouted at them, "Anyway, as much as I love you Gyuv, I am not going into further detail about this."
Gyuvin pursed his lips, before nodding his head.
"Fair enough. However, let me tell you this. If this is about them, I am sure whatever you are stressing over is not worth it. Both love and care for you dearly. They would never judge you whatever it is you have to say to them."
Ruyjin, who had now packed up her bag to leave, turned to him and gasped.
"Oh my god. That is the most mature thing that's come out of that mouth in the 2 years I've known you. I am so proud of you."
Gyuvin rolled his eyes, but smiled at Ryujin nonetheless.
"Thanks Ryujin.”, he turned to you once again, “I am serious Y/N. If this is about them, don’t avoid whatever conversation you need to have with them. It’s not fair on them and it’s not fair on you either.”
You averted your gaze to the floor. Gyuvin patted your shoulder sympathetically, Ryujin following closely behind him.
You knew it was time to stop avoiding it. You needed to talk to them. With determination filling your veins, you clicked on Hao’s contact.
Your call is being connected…
“Y/N?”
★━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━★
Your hands were sweating profusely.
You rubbed them together in hopes of getting rid of the wetness, but the sweat just kept building up. You had never felt more awkward sitting in your apartment’s couch as you waited for Hao and Hanbin to show up. Your hand reached out to dust the seats next to you again, eyes quickly darting to the clock on the wall.
3:57 pm. They should be here soon.
You took a deep breath. It was just Hao and Hanbin. You knew them. You knew their hearts. The worst possible outcome was rejection, which you tried to convince yourself thousands of times you were ready for.
The knock on your door snapped you out of your thoughts. Better now than never. You were spiraling and that was dangerous. The less you thought the better.
Your legs moved on their own before you could think about ignoring the knock or doing anything crazy like escaping from your apartment’s window. You were only on the first floor after all. You would be fine.
On the other side of the door Hanbin and Hao greeted you with their sweet smiles. You could discern the slightest glimpse of what looked like concern, but you pushed it to the back of your head.
Don’t overthink.
“Hey.”, you greeted them, “Come in.”
They took their shoes off before quietly shuffling in your living space. You shut the door behind them. Suddenly it felt so real. You were seconds away from spilling the truth. Well, seconds was an exaggeration. It would certainly end up taking some time if you included all the stutters, mumbles, and awkward silence.
Hao and Hanbin sat in your couch, trying to make themselves look comfortable. You knew they weren’t by how they kept changing their sitting positions. Part of you wondered what exactly they thought they were here for. Hopefully, nothing bad. You didn’t think this was that bad anyway. It wasn’t, right? Or maybe, they knew what they were here for, and they didn’t know how to deal with the situation either.
So much for not slipping into your thoughts.
“Hao, you look constipated. Relax, I am not here to deliver any bad news. At least, I think I am not.”, you noted.
Your best friend visibly relaxed.
“It sounded serious from your tone during the phone call.”, Hanbin pointed out.
You sighed, “I know. I am sorry if I scared you two. It’s nothing that serious, I promise. I just overthink things. And – and I don’t know how to express myself properly due to that.”
Hao pursed his lips, “This is probably a very cliché line, but you know we would never judge you, right?”
You smiled at him, your eyes getting foggy, “I know HaoHao.”
Two minutes in and you were already practically crying. So much not to worry them.
Hanbin reached out to take your hand in his as an attempt to comfort you. You played with the ring on his finger – the same one that adorned your best friend’s middle finger – trying to collect your thoughts.
You kind of felt awful about doing this. You know they deserved to know, but that didn’t stop you from considering that maybe you were being selfish. Hao and Hanbin had something special. It was apparent from the first day they met at the University’s annual concert organized by the Arts Department. They both seemed mesmerized by each other. Eyes never straying for not even a split second. You clearly remember Hao’s hands digging into your side asking about the captivating male dancer on stage. His eyes never faltered away from Hanbin’s figure, his mouth practically hanging open from fascination.
Were you about to ruin this special bond?
“You are overthinking.”, Hanbin stated.
You closed your eyes, frustrated at yourself.
“I am sorry.”
You didn’t know exactly what you were apologizing for.
You kind of expected for Hao to reassure you again, but instead you were met with silence. Your best friend knew you so well. Words of encouragement always worked on you until you started getting emotional. The minute you started getting emotional, your brain stopped processing anything in a positive way.
You took another deep breath. This was it.
“There is something I haven’t told you. I honestly didn’t think it would evolve into what it has, but it did. And as much as I have tried to ignore it or tried to ‘change’ it I can’t.”
You took a second to look at their expressions. Hao had his eyebrows furrowed, evidently confused. Next to him Hanbin looked deep in thought. He didn’t seem as confused as your best friend, which slightly confirmed your suspicions about him being possibly aware of what this was about. Hanbin was after all a very observant person. It was the reason why he was the leader of the University’s dance team and the reason why your friends always went to him for help.
“God, I really hope this doesn’t make you uncomfortable. Or changes anything between the three of us. I would hate that. And I can’t lose the two of you, because you mean so much to me a-and considering how socially awkward and incapable I am, I would probably end up spending the entirety of my lifetime alone, doomed because I-“, your brain short-circuited.
Hanbin gave you an awkward toothy smile, almost sympathetic in nature, “Y/N, it’s okay. Take your time. You are literally blue in the face due to the evident lack of breathing.”
You blushed from embarrassment. Next to Hanbin, Hao’s expression had morphed into that of absolute worry. You hated that look on him. Hao was such an emotional person and you hated when you felt as if you were the reason behind his worries.
You looked at the clock on the wall. 4:15 pm (Read Note 2 for fun fact). It was now or never.
“I like you.”, you admitted.
Hao looked back and forth between you and Hanbin, the latter giving you a tight-lipped smile.
“Which one do you like exactly?”, Hao asked.
Hanbin shook his head in disbelief. Hao truly was oblivious to the whole situation.
“I think she is talking about both of us.”
Hao’s eyes widened, “Wait, for real?”
You suddenly felt self-conscious. You had been honest, but that came with another price. The price of explaining. You couldn’t just leave it at that and expect the pair to figure it out between themselves.
“I-I’m sorry. I know it’s weird. I didn’t expect it to happen. I am sorry if I am making you uncomfortable.”
Hanbin visibly tensed, “Now what in the world are you apologizing for? There is nothing wrong with how you feel. There is nothing ever wrong about loving people. You should only be apologizing to yourself for making yourself feel so guilty about it.”
You bit at your lip, “Hao, will you say something?”
Your best friend seemingly awakened from his daze at the sound of his name spilling from your lips, “I- since when? I mean have you been feeling this way for a long time?”
“I have liked Hanbin for some time now, but I only came to realize how I felt about you only recently.”
“How recently?”, Hao pressed.
“Past three months.”, you mumbled, avoiding his gaze. Your eyes were getting unclear again. God, why did you have to be such a coward?
Hao got up from his seat before squatting in front of you. Soon, warm hands engulfed yours, kind eyes trying to meet yours.
“Bao, please look at me.”
You hesitantly looked into his eyes.
“I would never, ever change the way I treat you due to your feelings. In fact, I think I am a bit guilty myself.”
You blinked in confusion, “You have feelings for me too? But I haven’t seen you date a single girl in the past eight years.”
“Can you think of anyone I’ve dated in the past eight years?”
You opened your mouth ready to answer, but no answer seemed to form. He was right. Hao had not dated anyone after Xiaoting. Your best friend had been so busy with school and violin that he barely had time for any other people except for you.
Hao chuckled, “I kind of like both, I suppose. I am sorry for not telling you. It’s not that I didn’t trust you or anything. I just thought you knew?”
You shook your head, “No, I am the one that’s sorry. I shouldn’t have assumed. It was wrong of me to do that.”
He squeezed your hands, “It’s okay Bao.”
A cough from the neighboring couch diverted your attention from each other.
Hanbin smiled, “Forgot about me already?”
Hao rolled his eyes in response, “Jealous much?”
“Kind of. I am supposed to be a part of this conversation, no?”, Hanbin pouted.
“This fool right here has had the longest crush on you too.”, your best friend exposed him.
Hanbin shyly diverted his gaze to the coffee table in front of him.
This was beyond confusing to you. Hao had just admitted to having feelings for you and, now Hanbin, who you were so sure was infatuated with the former, was being outed for his feelings as well. Had you been this wrong all along?
“But I thought you both liked each other.”
The two males looked at each other before bursting into a fit of giggles.
“We do. That one assumption you are right about.”, Hanbin replied.
Hao nodded his head, “In fact, Hanbin confessed to me about liking you three dates in.”
You gasped, “Three dates? Zhang Hao, you have been seeing Hanbin and you didn’t tell me?”
One of his hands left yours to scratch at his nape embarrassed, “Part of me thought that was what you called us over for. Because you had figured it out and you were mad. However, as soon as you started talking, I knew you didn’t know. I am really sorry Bao. I just didn’t know how to tell you. I had figured out that you liked Hanbin and I was scared of breaking your heart. I didn’t think it was going to turn out this way.”
You sighed, “So, what was the plan then? Never tell me?”
Hao’s lone hand reached for yours again, “Of course not. Hanbin and I haven’t made it official yet. I was planning on telling you then. I wanted to be sure it was going to work out before I told you. Thought that would make the heartbreak worth it. I am sorry. This sounds so stupid now that I am saying it out loud. I only wanted to protect you and your feelings.”
You slipped your hands out of his, both reaching to cup his cheeks.
“It’s okay Bao. I will always forgive you.”
Hao’s eyes shined brightly with emotion. You smiled at him; eyes filled with so much love. His face frowned for a second, and then warm lips were on yours.
Most people would say kissing isn’t that special. In practice, it really is just a bunch of nerve endings touching other. Kissing Hao was anything but that. Kissing him felt like drinking a healing potion, all your worries easing away, muscles relaxing. It felt like warmth spreading throughout your entire body and engulfing you whole. It was comfort; it was home; it was love.
“Now, I am extremely jealous.”, Hanbin muttered.
You slowly pulled away from Hao, your hands never leaving his. Hanbin was sitting on the opposite couch, hands on his lap, looking at the both of you with the biggest pout on his face. He suddenly reminded you of that leaf outside the coffee shop. It felt wrong.
“Come here.”, you motioned him.
His eyes lit up in excitement, body almost falling on the floor from the hurry to get to you and Hao.
“Be careful! You are going to accidentally kill yourself before you even get here.”, Hao scolded him.
Hanbin protested, “Maybe if you weren’t all caught up in each other, I wouldn’t have to sit there in the first place.”
You smiled at him, “I am sorry Hanbin. You are part of this as much as Hao and I.”
“It’s okay. You two needed to talk this out anyway. It’s different for me.”
You furrowed your eyebrows in confusion, “What do you mean?”
“Well… I kind of knew about everything?”
Hao looked at him bewildered, “What? What are you implying?”
Hanbin chuckled, “You told me how you felt about Y/N yourself after I confessed how I felt about her. We had already confessed to each other, and let’s just say that I had this tiny inkling that she liked me after Matthew’s birthday party five months ago.”
“But what about how my feelings towards Hao changed? You couldn’t have possibly known about that.”, you asked.
There was no way Hanbin had known about everything all along. Sure, you had thought that he might have been roughly aware of your crush on him or maybe Hao, but not everything. If he was, why did he not say anything about it in the first place?
“Actually, I did.”, he smirked, “It became obvious at some point. When you first realized your feelings had developed into non-platonic ones, you would practically squirm when he’d give you a hug, and once you realized there was nothing you could do, you started taking advantage of it. Your hands would linger when you’d playfully pat his shoulder, you would silently stare at him a lot, and not to mention, it was the first time I saw you blush when he kissed your cheek. He’d been doing that for years, but you never had a reaction to it. It wasn’t that hard to figure out.”
“Sung Hanbin, I think you chose the wrong profession. I think it is time to switch careers. Just become a detective or something. God, I can’t believe you’ve known all this time.”, you whined.
“Why did you not say anything?”
Hao had asked the question you’d been meaning to ask yourself.
The other male sighed, “Because your relationship has always been different. You’ve known each other since you were kids. I knew how hard it was going to be for the both of you to talk it out, but I also knew you needed to do exactly that without me getting in between. I made a promise to myself that I would not pursue anything further unless this conversation happened. That’s why I never made it official with you Hao. You had your reasons and I had mine.”
“You still confessed to him though.”, you pointed out.
Hao shook his head, “That was actually me.”
“Indeed. I wouldn’t have confessed to Hao if he hadn’t first. Also, I couldn’t exactly reject him, so I decided to be honest instead. I know this might sound bad, but it was a relief when you told me you wanted to take it slow. Being aware of everything was kind of exhilarating in a way, however, it was extremely difficult to keep it all to myself and wait it out.”
“What if none of us ever confessed?”, you pondered.
“I would have stopped seeing Hao. I didn’t want to date Hao when I knew how more complicated this was. That was not a concern though. I knew someone would make the first move at some point. It was only a matter of time. I was certain that if your friendship of twenty years was as important as I believed it was, one of you would come out with the truth. That’s what I admire about you two. The respect, love, and effort you’ve put into this friendship. You are always there for each other and never keep each other in the dark. That’s how you progress and improve not only what you have, but who you are as individuals. Hao would have never changed his mind about pursuing music instead of science if it weren’t for you Y/N. And you would have never made the decision to stay in Korea if it weren’t for Hao. Now, look at the both of you. Hao is one of the top violin performers of this University, has a teacher’s license which has granted him his wish of teaching and inspiring other kids to pursue music, and you have built a life on your own in a country far away from everything you have ever known. You are even graduating top of your class.”
You didn’t think you could possibly love Sung Hanbin more than this moment. Hanbin had only known you two for less than two years. It had taken him only this long to put the pieces of your souls together. He didn’t just know you. You were part of him. You were him. Hanbin was more aware of who you and Hao were, than you yourselves. While that could partly sound a bit creepy or off putting, you knew Sung Hanbin yourself. Maybe not to the extent that he seemed to know you or Hao, but enough to be certain that the man in front of you cared so deeply about the people in his life that his eyes were always observing, ensuring that the people he loved were okay. Hanbin was love. Hao was love.
Your sniffles caught the attention of the two men, who unbeknownst to you had started a conversation of their own.
“What’s wrong Bao?”, Hao asked in concern, hands reaching to comb through your hair soothingly.
You wiped at your eyes, “I just love the both of you so much.”
Hanbin cooed at you, reaching to wipe another stray tear running down your cheek.
“We love you too.”
You smiled at them through your tears, before practically throwing your body on top of them, each hand circling around their napes.
“It’s okay Bao. We are here now.”, Hao reassured you, placing a kiss on the side of your neck.
Hanbin nuzzled his head against your arm in approval.
This was it, you realized. This was your happiness in your arms. You could get through everything as long as you had them. You were no longer that stray leaf on the ground. In fact, you never had been. You would always have them. Whether as friends or lovers. At that moment, you promised yourself that you would never doubt any of them again. Hao and Hanbin would always be with you. No matter what season. They were yours and you were theirs.
“So, when do I get my kiss?”, Hanbin mumbled, mouth pressed to your neck.
Hao laughed, “Still jealous?”
Hanbin groaned in response.
“Don’t worry Bin. You will get endless kisses. I am not going anywhere. Not now, not ever.”

A/N: It's finally out! My first fic (more of a one-shot really) in years. I think the last time i published anything i was 13?? The level of cringe was 10000/10. English is not my first language, so kindly bear that in mind. However, I now live in an english-speaking country, so i certainly hope it is better than my 13-years-old writing skills. Thank you to everyone who decides to give this a shot. Writing for Hao and Hanbin was such a therapeutic time for me. I love the both of them very dearly and they bring so much comfort in my life. I sincerely hope this brings you comfort and warmth. I have other fics in store for the future, and I promise they are longer. Sending lots of love to everyone!!<3

a/n my advanced birthday fic for hanbin! Bc idk why I thought it was today I must have hallucinated but also idk if I have time to post on the actual day bc of real life commitments lmao whoops I struggle and try my best. Shout out to Kara aka @boysplanetmorelike for sparking this lil idea~
Check my pinned for more fics~
It’s not like he was perfect, even if people liked to think he was. Well, yes he is very boyfriend. That’s why he’s your boyfriend.
You, of all people, can attest to the fact he isn’t perfect. You’ve seen his hair in the morning. He’s definitely not at his prettiest. Sometimes he becomes a little control freak. You know that. You’re the one who they call to get him before he makes one of the poor freshmen cry unintentionally and then ends up feeling guilty about it and apologising profusely for the rest of the day, your poor soft-hearted man. And some might argue that yes he has his little ticks but they’re only minor character flaws if they can be considered flaws at all.
If only they knew.
Those who have had the pleasure of getting to know Sung Hanbin on a more, well, personal level are probably the only ones who will ever know. Poor souls, really.
And perhaps it isn’t as effective to explain as it is to show what exactly one of his more problematic personality issues is. Let’s take one unsuspecting, innocent afternoon.
Perspective. You’ve just finished class. It’s a pleasant day. You decide to meet at one of the benches under the trees outside your building. His class finishes a bit after yours so you wait, scrolling through your phone, peaceful, unbothered.
Enter unfortunate victim. For the purpose of this exercise, he shall remain unnamed. We’ll call him Victim #444. Or well, that guy.
He’s your typical fuckboy. Good looking in a sort of lukewarm way, hugely overconfident, probably thinks he has a bigger dick than he actually does, a horrible flirt, we’ve all met that type.
You share a class together. That’s how he makes conversation. Otherwise, he might not dare to approach at that time. Your talk goes something like this.
“Hey, you’re in Choi-seongsaengnim’s class too right?”
“Yeah?” You look up from your phone and he’s just there. He takes a seat on the same bench without asking. Well, it’s public property but he’s a little closer than you would like.
“He’s such a hardass, don’t you think? Like sure, he knows the lesson but he doesn’t need to act like this is the only class we’re taking.”
“Well, I mean-”
“-Like seongsaengnim, come on, I have a life outside of trying to figure out what the fuck your lessons mean.” You can add self-absorbed and stupid to this one’s list of notable traits.
“I think-” And definitely not letting you get a word in.
“Speaking of, have you got a partner for the latest project? Because, you know, I’ve been asked but I’m happy to make an exception if you want to pair up.”
“Actually, I already have-”
“Let me give you my number so we can contact each other? Maybe meet up, you know? I’ve got a nice little place to myself on the other side of campus.”
Ugh, as if. He’s leaning in so close that you can smell his cheap cologne. Before you can get up from the bench, arms wrap around you from the back and a very familiar voice coos in your ear.
“Ahh nae sarang, sorry I’m late.”
You turn your head, leaning into him.
“Hi Binnie-yah.”
He beams at you before directing his stare at the other guy. And so it begins.
“Oh, who’s this?”
You’re pretty sure Hanbin knew who this was. He knew who everyone was and at least one notable thing about them because he was quirky like that. Well, he wasn’t known as the university’s social butterfly for nothing. And you don’t want to spoil his fun so you let the guy introduce himself.
“Ah, you’re taking that major, yeah? So Junho-yah is your senior, how is he these days?”
“Oh, ah yes, Junho-sunbaenim’s been doing well, I don’t really see him around much actually.”
And bingo. The guy starts squirming. Faster than it usually takes. Your boyfriend’s made himself comfortable even though he’s half-hunched over and resting his chin on your shoulder, looking at the other guy with an unwavering stare. Sort of the way a spider would probably look at a fly before, well, you know.
“Really, well last I heard from him, he was complaining about how disrespectful his underclassmen are…but you’re not like that, aren’t you?”
“Ah, no, of course not sunbaenim.”
You can feel Hanbin’s smile get wider, his eyes crinkling in a way that you find adorable but you suspect might not be as cute for your unfortunate companion.
“That’s good, keep up the good work. I can’t imagine how I’d feel if any of my underclassmen were being disrespectful. Ah well, actually I can….”
He pauses and you swear that the guy stops breathing.
“...and I can definitely say that they’ll be very sorry that they even tried that with me.” Hanbin continues cheerily.
Suddenly he walks over and starts patting him on the shoulder. The guy flinches back.
“So next time, remember to be on your best behaviour and keep being polite, hmm? Don’t be so obvious? Maybe try not to be so shameless, yeah?”
“Ah, yes, of course, sunbaenim. Actually I- I just remembered I- I have to go- ah- sorry to disturb um- excuse me-”
You watch as he does a roughly 90 degree bow to both of you before walking off quickly.
“Less than 5 minutes, Binnie, that’s a new record.”
And your cute boyfriend is back, pouting and grabbing at your hands and squeezing them softly. If you were anyone else, you would have gotten whiplash.
“It’s not my fault if I want you all to myself, hmmm?”
Did you mention that your boyfriend was a little off in the head? Not in the should-be-confined-to-the-mental-hospital way but that slight sort of insanity that possesses him when someone tries to go for his little brother (rip Gunwook) or his little sister or his close friends or well, you.
And everyone else? Everyone else was not safe. If murder was legal, literally everyone else would probably be fearing for their lives. Which is probably a good thing that murder isn’t legal. Those incredibly lucky bastards.
Take one of the freshmen trying to chat you up during a party. They’ve been incredibly nice all evening, pouring you drinks and asking you all sorts of thoughtful questions about the major. So yes, you’re very happy to answer and give them little tips on how to ace a certain project.
“And it’s honestly fine if you mess up a little on your first test for Hwang-seongsaengnim’s class, he’s very nice when it comes to students forgetting a few names so don’t stress too much about it and make sure to ace the extra credit he gives.”
“Oh, thank you so much sunbaenim. That’s so helpful, I’ll definitely try my best.”
You can’t help but smile. So cute. Maybe it was the alcohol but you remember how it was like being a wide-eyed, overeager freshman listening attentively to your own seniors.
“It’s really no problem. Ask me anything, anytime. Seriously, don’t be afraid if you need advice.”
You reach over to pat them, swaying just a little from the amount of soju running through your body. They’re awfully red as well. You wonder why.
“How are you getting home, sunbaenim? Do you live nearby? I can walk with you if you’re comfortable with that, I don’t think it’s too safe to be out at this time.”
“Oh it’s no worries, I’ll be taking them home.”
“Ah Hanbinnie, meet my new dongsaeng” you’re not too sure when he got here or even why he’s here but Hanbin’s incredibly warm and his hands around your waist feel so nice.
“This is my boyfriend.” You introduce him to the freshman. He dips his head in greeting as the other nearly tips over trying to bow. You make a concerned noise, making to catch the other but Hanbin firmly keeps you from moving, letting the freshman catch themselves instead.
“So nice to meet you, we’ll get going if that’s alright. It’s really not safe to be out this late, especially with someone you barely know.” You hardly register your boyfriend’s words but you’re not that drunk that you don’t know the smile he’s giving is about 95% fake and razor-sharp.
“Ah yes, get home safely, sunbaenim. I’ll find my way back so don’t worry.”
“Oh we won’t” You think you hear Hanbin say. Maybe. Could be your imagination. Because the next moment he’s nuzzling at your neck like a very spoiled cat, arms firmly holding you up as he guides you out of the bar and into the car.
“Nae sarang, you really need to take better care of yourself or I won’t want to let you out of my sight.” He says to you softly as he practically carries you into the passenger seat. It’s sweet, well the implication behind it is kinda creepy but you know he doesn’t mean it that way. (Does he?)
“You drove here?”
“Of course, I can’t let you go home all by yourself, can I?”
Like you said, there’s just a tiny screw loose in that head of his, considering the bar where you’re drinking is over an hour away from campus. You chalk it up to it being Hanbin. He can get a little paranoid on occasion.
And sometimes, he goes a bit psycho. A little. Not a lot. Still, according to Gunwook, it’s terrifying. You really wouldn’t know but you’ve seen it.
You’ve come to wait for his dance club to finish when someone collides into you. It’s not too hard but it still knocks you off your feet and onto the ground with a thud.
“Yah, watch where you’re going, huh? I have a performance next week and I could have injured myself.”
It’s definitely one of the newer members because you don’t recognise them. Before you can say anything, Seo Won, one of the veterans, is already helping you up and asking if you’re okay. The one that knocked you over huffs and is about to say something else when Hanbin calls their name sharply.
Your boyfriend’s eyes narrow and maybe you’re a little lightheaded from the fall but also from the way his shirt clings to his body and his hair weighed down by sweat. It’s kinda hot but you’re not admitting that out loud. Not now, at least. He calls the other member’s name again and gestures him over.
He speaks too quietly for you to hear anything. All you know is that the other’s face pales drastically and he bows several times, walking over and apologising to you before practically hightailing out of the room.
Hanbin’s all over you in a matter of seconds, practically lifting you off the ground. It’s not good for your heart. Seo Won quickly backs off.
“My poor sarang, are you okay? Do you need anything? Ice? Are you bruised anywhere? Let me check.”
You don’t ever see the person who knocked you over again. Ever. You’d wonder about it but you’ve learned that it was better not to question sometimes. Especially when Hanbin insists on carrying you around for the rest of the day and practically waits on you hand and foot until the bruises fade. And it’s just a bruise. You do admit to him later that maybe you find it attractive when he’s a shade pissed and sweaty. Maybe you both get a little sweaty after that. And later, when you’re rightfully tired and sprawled out on top of him, you think about it.
Really, you wonder what goes through his mind sometimes.
[cut scene]
Hanbin smiles, all teeth and no sympathy. It’s like the serial killer before the murder.
“You speak to anyone like that ever again and I can do injuring for you, understood? No, don’t talk, just nod if you’ve managed to get it into that head of yours, hmm?”
A nod. Hanbin likes it when they’re like this. Quiet and white-faced and sweating nervously.
“Now go apologise to them. Sincerely. Like you mean it. And then, get lost. I don’t want to see your face for awhile, yes?”
Another nod. They take one step back and make to turn around.
“Oh wait.”
They freeze.
“Remember. Sincerely, okay? And don’t think I won’t know if it isn’t.”
A final nod.
“Very good. Now go.”
They go. Hanbin sighs. God, you’re going to drive him insane one day. (He already is)

Tumblr media
Trouble comes when dessert is served.
Everything considered, it’s horrible timing. Sun setting just so over the Mediterranean, hearty chatter firing all around in all sorts of languages and your wine being warm company on a supposedly lonely night. It makes a perfect set-up as your spoon hovers mid-air as you prepare to dig into some well-deserved tiramisu.
Until someone slides into the very empty seat across from you, slips a crisp black business card across the table to you – it reads 'Sung Hanbin' – and uttering the most insane thing yet: "Love, I'm so sorry for being late!"
What.
You barely get to say anything before he's swooping in for la bise. As you lean in, his expensive cologne lingers like smoke in the air. It's a narrow dodge of your lips, but he swerves and lands a quick kiss to your right cheek and then dares to go for a second on your left. Consider yourself stunned because all you do is watch him pull away and a grin at you with a gorgeous smile.
You want to sit and gape for a second, let yourself breathe, and now with a longer look, let him breathe.
This, Hanbin, has flushed cheeks and is twitchy with how he holds your hand – when did that happen?! – across the table. There's a light sheen of sweat on his skin and not due to the heat, more like he's either embarrassed or nervous about this. He breathes in short, sharp gasps as if he's been running and mouths something to you.
Please play along. His hand still holds yours, and he squeezes just so.
Hanbin turned his head to the right slightly. Stood at a table near the entrance was a woman with a flowy silver dress on and hair pulled into quite a severe bun. Her pointed heels tapping on the spot and her jittery eyes glance over at you two, but quickly look somewhere else when she catches your curious gaze.
“She’s been trying to get me to buy her a meal all day,” he sighs. “Thing is, I even saw her scoping me out yesterday at a bar last night. I was naïve enough to buy her a drink to start some conversation, but she’s taken it as personal permission to stalk me. She clearly hasn’t gotten the memo.” And he squeezes your hand again, this time to comfort himself.
“What about me? What if I turn out to be some crazy that’s out to steal your Amex and claim my fifth husband?”
“You? No way, you have a top shelf wine and a second plate of tiramisu in front of you already. You're doing perfectly fine without my money," Hanbin lists before his gaze turns considering. "Unless... you weren't lying about the husbands.”
You laugh into your wine and eye Hanbin over the rim. "You wouldn’t look too bad in a wedding tux, pretty boy, who knows?”
The long column of Hanbin’s neck is exposed thanks to the open collar of his shirt. Revealing the delicate sun, moon and star on his collar that only keeps you stuck in wonder for longer.
You can only imagine how smooth the skin feels – under your hands and lips – but maybe that’s the wine talking when he sits there fine and handsome against the candlelight. The sunset paints saturated hues against his skin, you can barely see the blush that peeks above his collar thanks to it.
If you friends were here, you know what they’d say about him: trouble, hot and wealthy trouble.
“Eyes up here, love.” Your eyes leap back up to Hanbin’s to only see amusement in them. Getting caught flushes your face with heat but his eyes are dark enough to forget yourself in.
You try to push on, clearing your throat and pulling yourself together. “So, the deal is we act like lovers the rest of the night?” The weight of the word lovers is a syrupy one, overtly sweet and something far from familiar for you but Hanbin only smiles at it.
“Of course, love. Shouldn’t be too hard with someone as sweet as you,” he grins however his eyes still linger on that woman in silver, clearly on edge.
You drum your fingers on the table, the rush of meeting each other melting quickly in the air. Awkward tension is bound to seep in soon and you'll be damned if it does! you're not losing this chance no matter how much trouble this man could be.
A stroke of brilliance brings you to push forward your untouched plate of tiramisu over to him, careful with the spoon balancing precariously on the plate. “What?” you smile at his confused face. “I wasn’t eating it anyway and you need a distraction.” But he just raises his brows like he doesn't believe it.
At his reluctance, you sigh and begin to flag down a waitress.
“Hey! Hey, don’t kick me out please—I’ll eat it!… even pay for it!—” Hanbin flusters even further as you push a finger against his soft lips to shut him up as the waitress arrives.
It’s a beat of silence.
“Two more tiramisus, please.” Hanbin’s laugh of disbelief trails the waitress as she leaves.
What you do find out is that it’s stupidly easy to talk to Hanbin. You tell him why you’re even here in Monaco: about your crazy best friends marrying after years of adventures, about being the responsible one in a group of misfits, about growing up and never quite finding the one unlike how they did. Loneliness is a familiar tale on your tongue, the wine tinging everything you say with bitter honesty you’ve never been able to let out with anyone else.
With Hanbin, you learn about his job as a business consultant: his annoying – but endearing! – juniors Yujin and Gyuvin, how him and Zhang Hao – his other colleague – are out here for strictly business. Until of course, he met you.
“What are your doing out here so alone, anyway?” he probed. He’s so much closer now, having moved his chair to be next to you instead of opposite you. “You’re too pretty to be single but I really hope you are.”
You shrug off the flirting for once and let yourself disappear back into the chair. “Everyone else I know are in relationships so they’re all away on dates across the city. I figured stealing myself away on a self-date would be better than sitting lonely in a hotel room all night.”
He hums, a low and melodic thing. You can feel the heat of him next to you, the weight of his presence and the cut of his cologne all over again. Though nothing prepares you when Hanbin takes your hand in his.
He raises it, gentle and kind, slow and despairing, and presses his lips to your ring finger.
"Well then, may I steal your night?" he asks like a dare. A whisper barely heard but shared between you two.
Eyes far too low and gaze far too heavy for a look between strangers. The implications are clearer than the night sky above. Hanbin's lips linger with a smirk, and you can feel everything in you screaming to look away before you melt into the floor but all you can do is stare.
Trouble. Is what your mind is screaming. It's what you really want after all this pining in silence. Someone to crash into your life and take you with them.
"You don't even know my name."
It comes out like an accusation. Trouble, trouble, trouble. It brings you here and leaves you dizzy, craving for more.
"Why would I need it, love. You'll be saying mine all night.”
The woman is long gone into the night so there's no need for this play-pretend. But trouble looks you in the eyes and you kiss him with a heart that yearns for more.

while many would refer to you as a klutz, hanbin offered a better term; endearing.
your shocked face when you find yourself bumping into another corner of a table, or stubbing your toe on yet another chair leg every day, and the way you would shrug it off as if nothing happened just added another trait to add to the long list he adores about you.
despite his fondness for your habit of bumping into god-knows-what regularly, he couldn't find himself to enjoy the way you tried to act like the many bruises, scratches and scars didn't bother you.
the sun was slowly dusking, it's shape carved into a crescent as it folded beneath the mountains it descended upon.
hanbin walks out of the bathroom, finally feeling the weight of the day lifted from his shoulders, his hair still damp and his face holding a slight shine.
he smiles, seeing you sitting on the bed- but the smile slowly descends down into a frown at the sight of you poking, prodding, stretching and frowning at the scratches and bruises that inked your limbs. some new, some old- yellowing as they healed- which in your opinion, made them even uglier despite knowing that it's a sign of a fresh start.
(more under the cut!)
hanbin slowly makes his way towards the bed, his feet knocking against the hardwood before it ceases and then a crinkling of your duvet is heard.
you raise your eyes to meet his, blushing to find his face painted with ardent adoration.
"what?" you whisper, eyes glued to his, which dart around where you had just been belittling.
with your heart ringing in your ears, you grab onto the side of the duvet closest to you before tugging it to cover your lap. with hanbin already sitting on the duvet, the tug does nothing. hanbin places his warm hand over your fist, desperately clutching at the blanket.
you resort to pulling your knees to your chest, letting go of the blanket and feeling your hand cool at the absence of hanbin's warm touch.
hanbin, still eerily silent, leans down to your knees, eyeing a indigo-tinted bruise just above your knee cap before kissing it. your shoulder relax as you watch him press his kips to your newly formed bruise, a tingling replacing what was once inhibition.
he then moves to the middle of your calf, seeing a faded scar you had gotten when you were still quite young- long before you met him. he kisses it anyway.
then he straightens, moving to gently tug at your arm. he brings his lips down onto a mole that resides on your wrist, then moves to your bicep that housed an old bruise- painted with an unsightly yellow; he kisses that too.
next arm; a scratch you had gotten when your arms accidentally grazed the edge of table, the contact of his lips is felt once again. every bruise; whether painted blue, purple, yellow or green, every mole, every faded scar and every scratch, big or small- he offered his affection to.
with every kiss, he replaced each insecurity with his love- and with every kiss, he breathed in that insecurity and offered his life, a new unadulterated view of yourself, and threads of string that tied the two of you together like neighbouring stars in a constellation.

favourite star // sung hanbin
Tumblr media
Hanbin is good at many things, and as it turns out while stargazing with him, he does know quite a lot about stars, too.
➳ Characters: boyfriend!Hanbin x female reader/you
➳ Genre: the fluffiest of fluff, slice of life
➳ Words: 0.8k
➳ Warning: -
➳ A/N: This drabble was requested by a lovely anon. Hope you enjoy it! 💕
➳ Taglist: @dat-town, @s00buwu
Tumblr media
Your favourite thing about Hanbin was that he did everything with his whole heart. Working on an assignment? He gave it his all. Helping out his mother? He did it without being asked to. Taking care of kids? It seemed to come naturally to him, even though you always admired how he could calm crying kids down or find the same wavelength with them. Making you an espresso? He did it flawlessly, and it wasn’t just because he had a barista licence, but also because he did everything to the best of his ability, and it was truly inspiring in your eyes.
You often worried that being so hard-working, so attentive and so caring to everyone must have had a toll on your boyfriend, and scarcely though, but he did seem weary and in need of someone else’s support. You just loved him even more when you could see this humane, vulnerable side of him, one that he didn’t let a lot of people show. So let it be through hugging him (and recharging him as he liked to call it), covering him with a blanket when he fell asleep on the sofa, making his favourite dishes when he was having a hard day, or just being there for him, willing to listen, willing to wait for him to open up, to hold his hands if he needed it, you were there for him.
Always and forever. That’s what your couple tattoo said as well.
No wonder when Hanbin suggested stargazing, you gave in without hesitation. However, as you were laying together on a soft blanket in the riverside park, your head nestled into the crook of his neck, listening to the sound of his heartbeat and his soothing voice, you had a feeling that just like every time, Hanbin gave it his all because he came prepared. He told you about different constellations, what they meant and the stories behind them, and you were sure that he even looked up their pronunciations because he sounded so confident. He always started his sentences with ‘did you know?’, and you could feel him turn his head towards you as if you could actually know, but he was even more pumped up when you told him one after another that no, you didn’t know that specific thing about the said constellations.
You swore you could listen to him all day long because he had this warm, soothing tone, and his voice was full of enthusiasm, so full of life when he was talking about something that he really wanted to share with others. At one point though, he was so engrossed into talking that you needed to remind him to breathe.
“Okay, okay, just one more,” he replied excitedly, and an airy laughter reverberated through his body as he pushed himself onto his elbows. You did the same, so you could look at him, and a gentle smile immediately made its way to your lips. It wasn’t just his voice that was full of life, his eyes were, too; the warmest shade of autumn, the lightest shade of darkness and the brightest of stars.
“Did you know that I have a favourite star?” He quirked an eyebrow in question, tilting his head slightly. His gaze wasn’t challenging, it was rather playful, so you hoped that he wouldn’t make a wordplay about it.
“No, I did not, but I bet you will tell me.”
“Then, ask me,” he nudged you, a boyish smile tinting his lips that pushed his cheeks upwards. You liked that look on him; when he seemed to be smiling not only with his lips but also with his cheeks that were a bit pink, his eyes narrowing as if they were joining in on the fun.
You batted your eyelashes at him, teasing, but before he could think that you wouldn’t play along with him, you asked the question that he wanted to hear.
“What is your favourite star, Hanbin?”
Without hesitation, the boy answered:
“You.”
For a moment, you didn’t know how to react, no words coming out of your mouth. Then, the warmth invading your face reminded you how easy it was to make you flushed (how easy he made you flushed), and you reached out to nudge his shoulder as a way to distract him from the blush creeping onto your cheeks.
“Gosh, stop it! You’re so cheesy.”
“I prefer the term ‘smooth’, but whatever you say,” he retorted with a cheeky grin before leaning down to tuck a loose strand of hair behind your ear. Then, his grin softened, turning into a gentle smile, his eyes warm and fond, a look that made your insides churn with happiness and excitement. You felt like you could melt under his stare, even more so when he closed the distance between you two and placed a gentle kiss on your forehead.
And even in moments like this, you knew that his whole heart was in it, that’s why you liked him even more.

dear hanbin
pairing: gn!reader x s.hanbin
wc: 0.5k
genre: fluff, highschool au
warnings: nothing really, just hopeless kids in love
summary: writing a love letter to him
a/n: ive never written anything like this before, I'm actually pretty proud of it. please lmk if it was alright 😓😓
*y.i: your initials
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
you were always a pen-and-paper person.
you didn't like typing down reminders or to-do lists, you preferred writing them down. there was just something so special about writing to you. probably the way you'd have to shake your pen occasionally because you ran out of ink. or the satisfaction you gain when you scratch out a completed task.
which is probably why you're standing in front of sung hanbin's locker, holding a carefully sealed envelope, decorated with hearts and small stickers you found stuffed deep in your desk drawers.
sung hanbin was truly not real, you thought. there was no way that man was real. he was just too good to be true. the adorable smile, the way he helps everyone around him, how he never got mad, how generous, smart, and nice he is. not to mention, he is incredibly handsome as well. it's no joke, everyone was in love with him. which is one reason you were always too scared to ever confess.
but if there was one thing you were confident in, it was your writing. you figured, since you can't form proper sentences in front of him, why not pen down your thoughts in the form of a letter instead? and that's exactly what you did.
you made sure no one was watching you and slipped the envelope into his locker. you breathed a sigh of relief and made you way to your next class.
after you were gone, hanbin made his way to his locker after basketball practice. he opened it and was startled to see a blue-colored envelope fall out. he grabbed it off the floor and opened it. he thought it might have been mistakenly placed in his locker, but instead was surprised when he read the first two words.
dear hanbin,
it was addressed to him after all. although he was tired and sweaty from practice, he was curious. he continued reading the letter.
dear hanbin,
my heart is racing with a mixture of excitement and nervousness, there are so many words i've been wanting to say to you for years, and i finally have the chance.
from the moment i met you in middle school, when you lent me your pencil because i forgot mine, i've liked you. who knows, maybe its love?
your smile lights up my darkest days, and you have never once failed to make me laugh. every interaction, no matter how small or big, is etched into my memory, replaying over and over again like a broken record. i've admired your kindness, your intelligence, and the way you effortlessly make everyone around you feel at ease.
i want you to know that my feelings for you have not faded with time, if anything, they've grown stronger.
i understand that this letter might come as a surprise, and let's be honest, life's unpredictable. but i couldn't hold back my feelings any longer than i already have. whether fate leads us down a path of togetherness or friendship, i just needed you to know the truth that has been in my heart for so long.
no matter what your response may be, i'll respect it. no matter where life takes us, know that you'll always hold a special place in my heart.
with love,
y.i ♡
he smiled to himself as he read it. just as he was closing the letter after re-reading it over and over again, he saw some text in the back which made him laugh.
do you like me?
□ yes □ no
no pressure, you don't have to tick anything right now :)
sorry that's kinda creepy isn't it
i should probably stop writing...
he grabbed a pen and ticked the 'yes' option, quietly giggling to himself.

cool in my book - loser sung hanbin x boxer reader
Tumblr media
m.list
pairing: sung hanbin x fem!reader
synopsis: reader helps hanbin get revenge on his bully
words: 1.3k
Tumblr media
you were doing your usual routine of roaming the halls during the lunch period at school. you told yourself it was calming, and you didn’t need to spend lunch with anyone. but it was because you kinda, no not kinda, you literally had no friends.
you weren’t friendless in a “oh she’s so shy, i feel horrible for her” way. people thought you were mean and intimidating off of the first glance. sure, you did play into it with your not so nice attitude. getting yourself into plenty of fights, but hey it was always their fault.
you could hear whimpering coming from around the corner. you contemplated walking in the other direction, not wanting to go by them. but, your curiosity got the best of you. who was crying? you wanted to be nosey and guess what happened to them.
once you turned the corner and caught sight of who it was, you stopped in your tracks. the boy from your math class. why would someone have a problem with him? he only comes to school to do his work. he has a reputation of being the quiet, nice guy.
he glanced up at you, his nose and lips smeared with blood, clutching his stomach in pain. while you were known for being quite mean, you weren't immune to moments of vulnerability. seeing his quivering lips and his tear stained cheeks evoked an unavoidable sense of guilt.
after debating on walking away from him, you finally decided to help him, dragging him to the nurse’s office. you sat next to him while the nurse gave him an ice pack and returned to her desk.
“you could come in with a gun shot wound and they’ll give you frozen vegetables.” you commented, earning a faint giggle from him. “who did that to you?”
“you can just go now.” he looked away.
“come on, i won’t judge.” you nudged him.
“yoon jihyun.”
you looked at him in disbelief. “you’re telling me you let that scrawny ass boy beat you up?”
“hey! you said you wouldn’t judge!”
“okay, i’m sorry. but why would he do that?” you couldn't help but wonder how he managed to find himself in such a situation when he had his nose buried in a textbook 99.9% of the time.
he scratched the back of his head. “well, i said no to cheating on a test for him.”
“come on.” you pulled him up from the chair.
“where are we going?” he jerked his arm back.
raising an eyebrow, you replied. “we’re gonna jump him.”
“i don’t know who you think i am, but i don’t do that stuff.”
“okay, whatever. meet me right after school at the front gate.”
Tumblr media
he wasted no time, practically sprinting to the school entrance the moment classes ended. he didn't have the slightest idea about your intentions, but he had no intention of either wasting your time or incurring your wrath.
"good, you're on time. i like that," you commented casually as you walked right past him.
he trailed closely behind. "where are you taking me?"
"you just love asking questions. what's your name?" you inquired.
"sung hanbin."
"my name is—" you began, but he interrupted.
"yn. everyone knows your name."
"now, can you tell me where we're going? this is the opposite direction of my house, and i have to get home to study," he said, glancing at you as you cranked up the music blaring in your headphones.
you finally disclosed the destination to him once you were down the street from it, nudging him to get his attention.
"a gym? i really don't have time for a workout," he said, considering walking away.
"next time you let him beat you like that, he'll do far worse than leave you with cat scratches and a belly ache," you reasoned. "i'm a boxer, i can teach you a thing or two about fighting back."
upon arriving at the gym, you guided him to the octagon. "take it all off," you instructed, gesturing to his school uniform.
"all of it?" he felt a slight blush tinting his cheeks.
“no, dipshit. leave some room for imagination.” you began putting on sweatpants and discarding your dress shirt and blazer.
he hesitantly took off his dress shirt, shoes, and blazer. “seriously, are you gonna beat me up next?”
he sounded extremely genuine. you couldn't help but laugh.
the rest of the afternoon was dedicated to teaching him various fighting techniques, but you noticed his gentleness. he wasn't a terrible fighter; he simply held back, unwilling to inflict harm on anyone.
“i don’t want to hurt you!” he held his bands behind his back.
“hanbin, i’m asking you to throw a punch. it doesn’t have to connect” you pulled his arms from behind him.
“but what if it does, then you start bleeding. then you’ll hate me.” he pouted.
hanbin’s mannerisms did warm your heart. at least there was still good people out in the world.
after the training session, you sprawled out on the floor, munching on a granola bar. rolling over, you glanced at hanbin, who sat there with his tank top clinging to his skin, his hair damp, and his gaze fixed on the wall. you had to admit, he looked hot. the school uniform certainly didn't do him justice.
you were oblivious to the fact that he had returned your steady gaze, your eyes moving over his biceps and tracing the veins that snaked up his hands.
"is there something on my face?" he asked in a soft tone.
you couldn't help but laugh at the striking contrast. "if our classmates saw you like this, they'd be all over you," you remarked boldly.
he scratched his head, asking, "is that a good or bad thing?"
you stared at him in disbelief. "i've never met someone simultaneously so smart and dumb, sung hanbin. i was saying that you look really attractive."
“oh! thank you,” a wide smile spreading on his face. “i mean, you’re really.. pretty.” he awkwardly looked away from you, twiddling his thumbs.
Tumblr media
the next day, during the lunch period, you concocted a plan to get revenge on jihyun for hurting hanbin. after spending the day with him, you only felt more angry that he left hanbin crying in the hallway.
"wait right here," you instructed as you left hanbin in an empty room.
"sure thing," he replied, taking a seat at one of the desks.
you walked to the cafeteria and scanned it for jihyun, quickly hearing his loud voice. “jihyun! can i talk to you for a second?”
surprisingly, jihyun followed you to the classroom where hanbin was waiting. he pointed at hanbin and asked, "what's this about?"
you rested your hands on your hips. "i'm giving you a chance to apologize to him."
“since when did you of all people become mother theresa.” he laughed. “and you. don’t you feel embarrassed? you can’t handle your stuff like a man? don’t make me bitch you again.”
“don’t talk to him like that,” you punched him square in the jaw.
he looked at you with pure anger before lunging straight at you. pushing you against a desk.
but before his fist could connect, hanbin held his arm back and forced him to the ground. jihyun tried getting up, but hanbin repeatedly punched him.
you stood off to the side wanting to stop him from sending jihyun to the hospital, but you were highkey impressed. he definitely always had that in him.
hanbin stopped once jihyun stopped fighting back.
“damn, hanbin. not bad.” you held out your fist.
“i’m telling the principal. i’m getting him expelled!” jihyun cried out.
you saw a flash of panic on hanbin’s face. the last thing he wanted was to get in trouble in school. did you corrupt him?
“you’re not gonna get in trouble,” you reassured him. “i’ll take the blame.”
“no, you can’t. it’s my fault you’re in this mess anyway.”
“my highest grade is a D+. i don't think they’ll lose sleep if i get into another scuffle."
“you people make me sick.” jihyun held his nose and ran out the room.
you two laughed at his dramatic reaction.
“hanbin, you’re cool in my book.”
“you were always cool in my book.” he responded.

☆ Sleep well
Having a hard time? Well, your boyfriend Hanbin is always there for you!! But a piece of advice; listen to him when he tries to help.
- Genre: comfort, angst, fluff
- Pairings: shanbin x fem!reader
- Warnings: cursing, the reader got a little mean towards Hanbin (he’ll teach her some manners dw❤️)
Tumblr media
You rested your head on your arms, sitting down in the dining room all frustrated ever since you came home from work. There are a lot of different emotions piled up in you at that moment, you were mad, frustrated, sad, disappointed, and annoyed.
On the other hand, your boyfriend has been observing you ever since you stepped foot in the house, noticing your mood being down rather than the other times. Obviously, he knew something was wrong, and he tried to ask you a few times, but there was no answer delivered from you. But as your head was lying on your arms that were resting on the kitchen counter, You felt someone tapping on your shoulder. When you lifted your head, you saw Hanbin, placing a cup of tea on the table.
“Baby, what’s wrong?” he asked softly, “It’s nothing” You sighed “Is it about work?” “Well, yeah” “Do you want to tell me-” “It’s none of your business really” You cut him off, raising your voice due to frustration, “Hey, is it that bad? It’s rare for you to act like this” he sighed, trying to figure out the thing that has been bothering you, “If you’re struggling so much, you know I-” “Hanbin, stop” You cut off your boyfriend for the nth of time.
It’s not like you want to shout at your boyfriend who was just trying to help, in fact, you needed someone to listen to you, but all those built-up emotions inside you are holding you back from saying a single word without crying, making it hard for you to express yourself to your boyfriend. “Stop talking to me when I’m like this, I’m seriously so mad right now, I just need some time to think, It’s so annoying that you’re always so-” “Babe.” Your voice raised with each and every word that came out of your mouth, but Hanbin’s stern voice stopped you from continuing your sentence, “I know you’re mad right now, but I need you to listen” he continues, his tone was still as stern as before “So can I have my turn to speak?” he raised an eyebrow, earning a signal from you to speak.
“I know the kind of person you are, and you like to keep things to yourself, but at this point, you’re just hurting yourself babe, I mean, look, do you think I don’t notice how much you’ve been struggling these days? You haven’t gotten any good sleep babe, It hurts me to see you like this.” he sighed, sitting down on the chair beside you “Of course you can keep some things to yourself, I’m no one to know about each and everything that you keep, but sometimes you act like I’m not even an option to rant out to. I’m your boyfriend, and one of the most important things I have to do for you is just to listen to you, so let me do that, okay?” he spoke out, his tone softening more and more, speaking to you while his eyes looked at you with so much sincerity.
When you heard his voice as he said those words, your tears couldn’t hold themselves anymore, as they just came straight down from your eyes. When Hanbin saw you tear up, he immediately opened his arms for you, wrapping his arms around your body tightly, “I’m sorry bin” you cried as you buried your face in his chest “It’s fine, You’re fine babe, I’m not mad at you” he smiled, patting your head softly while comforting you, “Let’s sleep, it’s getting late, we can do your work tomorrow, yeah?” he chuckled, his dimples showing, “Sounds like a plan” You yawn, smiling back at Hanbin before earning a quick kiss on the lips.
