Take a Spa Day, You Need It

Spas are strange places, and it heavily depends on which one you go to in regards to the experience you will get. However, taking a day to relax, get a nice massage, facial, etc, is crucial to our mental health. Some cultures already have daily rituals of taking designated time for relaxation, such as Spain and their mid-day siestas, or Greece's early retirement age and plentiful vacation days (please work out your EU debts though guys). On the other hand, Americans are absolute workaholics and happily slave away for corporations that hardly give them any paid vacation days if any at all. Not even Japan has such awful work benefits, and the work culture there is even more rigorous than in the States. There's no room for relaxation, only work with a side of a sedentary, unfulfilling lifestyle. There's plenty of attractions, parks, museums, and other landmarks that the United States has to offer, along with some of the most diverse natural beauty in the world, but our labor policies are that of the Gilded Age, with union busting and corporations willingness to abuse their political power being all too prevalent in such a modern time, taking all of this entertainment and leisure away from the workers and taking it all for themselves. We work ourselves to death just so a select few may enjoy the world, its offerings, as well as take leisure domestically (in the context of the U.S). To my workers in the U.S.A, carpe instrumenta productonis (seize the means of production) and carpe diem. Take a day off, call out, submit PTO, and even if they deny it, take that day off anyway, they'll survive without you, and they can't deny you a day off that you need. Don't keel over to them even if they beg you to come in, trust me, they don't care about you. Take care of yourself, get that back massage, and drink some nice alcohol, smoke some weed (responsibly of course), and completely relax, you deserve it.

Frank & Wally do become very affectionate with each other! ofc as soon as Frank woke Wally was like "ok im holding your hand everywhere we go, this is Non Negotiable". because its dark! he doesn't want Frank to stray too far or get lost! and it's easier to yank Frank outta harm's way if they're already holding hands. comfort factors into it later, when Frank starts initiating & Wally does it purely to make sure Frank is still there. but yeah they get Very comfortable with each other, to the point where when Eddie wakes up he asks Frank - misinterpreting the situation entirely - "if you'd rather have Wally than me, i understand." ofc Frank laughs his ass off bc uhhh no that is Not what their relationship is, Ed

~ similarly, (almost) everyone acclimates to Wally's need to be as close as possible at all feasible times. he's Very physically affectionate and has little to no regard for personal space or boundaries anymore. like, he'll listen when someone asks him to back off or somethn, but until then he does not give a fuck. and this rubs off on the others as they get used to it

and then there's OH WAIT IDK IF I'VE MENTIONED THIS YET but! Wally - during his main exploration phase - found the Welcome Home episode recordings! and he eventually figured out how to work a tv he found, so he added "watch an episode of me and my friends" into his Routine. when the others wake up, he includes them in this. is it horrifying for them at first? yeah. but they get used to it and find similar if not the same comfort and enjoyment in it that Wally does. like in This Scribble, Frank & Wally & Poppy & Howdy are all watching an episode, and are quoting the lines they've memorized. they all cuddle up on a couch together and watch their favorite show <3

& Wally also teaches them (as they wake up) how to repair and care for themselves / each other, sleeping or otherwise. picture a little sewing circle of Frank, Wally, and Poppy, with Poppy giving tips and guidance on how to improve. these sessions provide them with genuine smiles and sometimes even some laughs.

before Wally & Home's divorce, they'd pass much of the time with games! go-fish, charades, i spy, etc. one of their favorites was when Wally would toss a ball at Home's door, and Home would hit it back. additionally, whenever Wally discovered something new, he'd rush back to Home with it - either the information or the actual thing, if he could carry it. ex: when he'd find books or files, he'd bring them to Home and (quietly) read them aloud while resting against them

and just in general know that the Post Office is a place of safety. Wally has made sure it's secure. i like to imagine like... little craft sessions and impromptu dancing lessons and story sharing going on in there among the awake neighbors. they try to have fun despite it all

that's all i can recall for Act One's fluff tidbits rn, but trust me there is More. and also abundant angsty comfort. the downright painful stuff has to earn its existence yk yk this au is Not grimdark

Which of your Obi-Wans do you think have inconvenienced their corresponding Palpatines the most?

my immediate thought was, of course, obi-wan from use my body to break your fall, as obi-wan seduces the companion (anakin) palpatine has been paying money to have tea with and slowly convince to Fall before he can ACTUALLY Fall, wins that anakin's loyalty in a matter of weeks when palpatine has not been able to do that since the first time he paid for anakin's time

and THEN he somehow gets anakin to ALMOST FALL and do something as stupid as KILL the chancellor of the REPUBLIC which also happens to be palpatine so that'a pretty fucking inconvenient

but then i remembered that actually the obi-wan from this au would inconvenience his corresponding palpatine so much more. and it's ten times funnier because it's literally all palpatine's fault, because he's the one who convinced anakin that he was in love with obi-wan, thinking they'd break up eventually and then anakin would hate obi-wan and be pushed away from his only strong connection to the Light....only for obi-wan to love him back and for keeps lol

OK good news

I decided to try the Magnus Archives again after falling off (I became aware of it just as the last season was airing and I thought "oh I should wait until it's finished" and then forgot all about it) and it is just as great as people say.

Bad news, I've looked for fic and the algorithm is failing me. So if you guys have any recs? I mainly want stuff about how people care for/about Jon the hateful murderous gargoyle weirdo and how he cares for them in turn. I wrote this at like 3am so it's a little unhinged. Ok so I’ve got a serious post in my drafts about how smart the Corinthian is in how he handles the whole trying to fight Dream thing in season one, but…

If he’d just not gone to the convention or kidnapped any children and skipped off to, well, let's say a spa instead, then Dream wouldn’t have found him during all that vortex business. As a permanent solution it’s not great but it would definitely have been far more relaxing. And maybe when Dream caught up with the Corinthian (because he definitely would have) the conversation might have gone better if he’d offered Dream a nice sweet cocktail instead of stabbing him in the hand. 

I would like to add that I understand that this might go against the Corinthian's rebellious mission just a tad. 

Yes Dream was going to destroy him. Yes Dream was pretty pissed off. Yes it’s all very important creator/creation drama and I’m sure the Corinthian takes it all very seriously. Surely he can bend a little though. Like you don’t need to apologise but darling can’t you try and mollify? Persuade? In ep 1 the Corinthian was ready to get on his knees and say please all soft and (ok it didn’t work but I bet Dream liked it) that’s not really a skill you lose.

Or maybe it is who knows. 

Still, saying please might have worked better in Berlin if there hadn't been a dead body right behind him is all I’m saying. 

Am I suggesting the Corinthian should have lured Dream to a spa rather than risk running into him at a serial killer convention? Yes. Do I think this would have had a better outcome? Debatable. Do I think it would make for an incredible crack fic and am I tempted to write it? Well—

the thing is i think one of the biggest reasons rowena would be so good for sam is because she could offer him a very healthy separation between hunting and having a "normal" life. which is something he's never had with any of his other partners because they were all either 100% out or 100% in. like i'm pretty sure she's one of the only people he knows in the life that doesn't actually let it consume her life. she helps out in emergencies and joins them on hunts whenever they need her but otherwise she just does her own thing. she indulges in self care days and she goes out to fancy dinners and she literally just allows herself to have fun and enjoy things outside of the supernatural world. and that's something sam is in desperate need of

who takes longer in the bathroom? Lambert or Keira?

The obvious answer is Keira, because she’s very meticulous about her appearance and probably has a 17-step skincare routine, while Lambert does a quick shave in the morning and washes his face with plain soap and running water, because that’s all the men in his family have ever done (which has Keira internally screaming).

BUT (because the other way around is so much funnier), the day they officially moved in together, Keira brought along all her products, shampoos, lotions, creams, balms, perfumes, and claimed a not insignificant portion of the space in Lambert’s bathroom.

He complained about it, of course, but couldn’t help being vaguely curious about why exactly Keira would need so many different things to do something that takes him exactly ten minutes. (He’s never moved in with a woman before; he’s seen some of his exes’ bathrooms, but they weren’t close enough for him to feel comfortable digging through their stuff.)

So he studies the packages, examines the composition, opens some of them to take a sniff (and wrinkles his nose at the artificial scents), sometimes even tries them on when he has a pretty good idea of what they’re for and how to use them. It’s not an unpleasant experience. He had no idea the skin of his legs and arms wasn’t supposed to feel so dry; he just thought it was part of those things in life you simply had to deal with.

But Keira is beginning to get part suspicious and part worried, because Lambert has never taken that long in the bathroom before, so she takes a peek in, just to check that he didn’t hit his head and fall in the shower. When she sees him with one of her lotions in hand, she rushes in, saying, “these are EXPENSIVE, why couldn’t you just ask me, you’re only supposed to use this one after a cleansing lotion in the evenings, and you don’t even know your skin type—”

Lambert is embarrassed to be caught trying on such terribly girly products, but Keira will have none of it and is very much willing to explain how everything is supposed to be used after she’s calmed down :)

#and that’s how lambert started taking much longer in the bathroom #once in a while they have a spa day when one of them has been dealing with a lot of stress at work #they clear the whole day and spend the entire time inside with their bathrobes on and their hair in a towel #face masks and cucumber slices on #sometimes they do their nails. keira managed to convince lambert to try clear fortifying nail polish #but after a while he starts experimenting with neutral colors #anyway uh i hope it wasn’t too long #thank you for this little opportunity to write something :D #keibert #ask tag
