WEEK 8
Tumblr media
HELLO EVERYONE AND WELCOME BACK 👏👏👏 We are now HALFWAY through the FOURTH season of the NFL pick-em pool challenge! big money is on the line and some BIG moves have been made 🤑🤑🤑 let's see how everyone stacks up heading into the back half 🔙🔙🔙
VAL - 13 POINTS
It's a dark, dismal day. So overcast you can't tell the time, rain drizzling into streets lined by dilapidated row houses. Is this a scene from James Cameron's "The Terminator"? Nope, it's just a normal Tuesday in Pittsburgh 🤷‍♀️ BUT THIS TIME THERE IS A RAY OF SUNSHINE ☀☀☀ AND HER NAME IS VALERIE DAIGNEAULT ESQUIRE shining like a fiery, 13 point beacon 🚨 Can she bring this momentum in the second have of the year and take the crown this time?!?! 👑👑👑
ABBY - 12 POINTS
Another fantastic showing by Abby means she is currently IN THE MONEY 💲💲💲 at 3rd place. She's famous for doing flips, dressing in animal print and calling it a costume for Halloween, and SCORING POINTS. I don't know how she does it, considering her entire household consists of a girl who has never watched an NFL game in her entire life and a dog with about 4 brain cells. Incredible! 🧠
JANIE - 12 POINTS
THANKFULLY Janie has finally strung together a few good weeks 💹 keeping her in the hunt for the money 💰 I was worried if the losing streak continued she'd start racking up larger and larger wine bills at Postinos 🍷🍷🍷 Invite me next time!
PEYTON - 11 POINTS
SOLID week for our new rental management guru 🏘🏠 He knows houses and he knows football 🏈
You call them vaulted ceilings, he calls them ceilings
You call it a bar, he calls it a minibar
You call it a crawl space, he calls it a 'hell no I ain't gonna fit in there'
You call it football, he calls it FREE MONEY 💰💰💰
JJ - 11 POINTS
JJ "Bobby Knight" Daigneault is on a roll! Now that he's got his looper machine he really has left behind the Boyz in the Back and gone solo 🎤🎤🎤 Are you ready for his first hit? "The willingness to sing is only superseded by the willingness to prepare to sing" 🎶🎶 Inspo board material right there 😢
LISA - 10 POINTS
She's holding on to her lead by a THREAD here 📏 will she be able to sustain the lead into the back half of the season??? 🤔 We doubt she's concerned about that right now, she's preparing for the weekend, November is Lisa's superbowl 😤 Daylight savings time is the ultimate championship for a professional sleeper like her - will she get 14 hours? 15 hours?! TIME WILL TELL 🛏🛏🛏🛏
RUSTY - 10 POINTS
FINALLY 🏁 For the FIRST time in nearly 7 weeks, our perennial caboose 🚂 is OUT of last place 🚨🚨🚨 Is this the start of the greatest 16 points comeback the work has ever seen??? Mmmmmm probably not 😐 BUT WHO KNOWS???!!! Everyone loves a good underdog story and I can't wait to see where Rusty ends up!
GABBY - 10 POINTS
10 points for our girl Gabby, not amazing, but not bad 👍 I think she could have done a little better but she has a rather frenetic social calendar to keep up:
Tumblr media
JULIETTE - 5 POINTS
In honor of Halloween Juliette decided to be Tarzan and Jane 🌳🌳🌳 UNFORTUNATELY for her she channeled the brain of Tarzan and the brawn of Jane 🏋️‍♀️ This FIVE point performance was less Tarzan and more George of the Jungle, OOF 🤮https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119190/
Alrighty everyone CONGRATS on a great bounce back week (except Juliette) , glad to see everyone back at it (except JuJu). I'm looking forward to another GREAT week coming up (except Thomas the JuJu Train) 🚂🚂 see you all next time!

Weekend Guide #6 - Zandvoort 2021 - 03-04 September
W Series heads to Zandvoort this weekend to race on the newly designed track that now features two heavily banked turns, Hugenholtz and Luyendyk, as well as the wild hard braking turn 1, better known as Tarzan. Reserve driver Abbi Pulling, who will be racing this weekend for the first time after her debut in the first race of the season, Sarah Moore and Emma Kimiläinen are the only drivers with experience on the track. Beitske Visser, whose home race it is, and Ayla Ågren will return this weekend after being medically cleared after their crash in Spa qualifying last weekend.
Track Info:
First GP: 1952
Length: 4.259KM (2.646 Miles)
Turns: 14
Race Length: 30 Min + 1 Lap
Schedule: (Local Time CEST/GMT+2):
03 September - Practice 12:55 – 13:25
03 September - Qualifying 16:30 - 17:00
04 September - Race 16:30 - 17:05
Beitske Visser said:
“After what happened at Spa last weekend, it would be perfect to be back in the car at Zandvoort. I was sore after getting back from hospital, but so relieved not to be badly injured and I’m feeling better now. After coming through such a serious crash, you just want to get back in the car as soon as possible. I don’t foresee any problems. I crashed hard at Zandvoort in 2012 when I broke my back and came back the next day to win the race, so I’m hoping that’s a good omen! I was already determined to have a good weekend and perform well at my home race, but what happened in Belgium has made me even more determined. Sharing the stage with Max Verstappen will be as thrilling as driving the track, and I know the orange army of fans will give me plenty of support as the W Series drivers pile into the first corner, Tarzan, at full throttle. I want to give them lots to shout about.”
Abbi Pulling said:
“I raced on the old Zandvoort circuit in 2019 in the Ginetta cars and loved it. It’s such a fun and unusual circuit, unlike any other that I’ve driven, and it’s one of my favourites as it suits my driving style. The high-cambered corners let you carry lots of speed through them and there are some blind braking zones too. I’ll need to hit the ground running and get used to the F3 car again so that I can feel comfortable in practice. That will allow me to give it my all in qualifying which will be important here because it’s hard to overtake in the race. Despite that, I think we’ll see some really close and exciting racing because the track is awesome.”

The next Disney Heroine getting a redesign is Jane Porter!
Disney did something interesting here. They changed the time period of the book to suit their historical costume decisions. Which I (generally) approve of. As long as the story has in-world consistency changing unimportant specifics are all good if they make sense. Changing Tarzan to be 20 years earlier so Jane can rock a bustle doesn’t really impact the foundations of the story. If anything it makes Jane visually unique & “dated” in a way that even a kid can recognize. Which is good design. I like having my cake & eating it to... so I’ve explored both options ;). These first two designs are 1880s Jane.
Her first look is a version of her yellow bustle gown. It’s based on a combination of walking gowns from that era, with her customary parasol & hat. Her hat is more feminine & has less “safari” in it’s design, but ultimately the colors haven’t really changed. In contrast her gown is more masculine- with a faux-cravat, imitation shirt-bodice & masculine collars. (Late Victorian women’s fashion had a lot of fun co-opting male fashion to suit their purposes - it’s pretty great)
The second look is based on her evolution from “Civilized Lady” to Jungle Aficionado. Specifically her white tank top + red skirt look she wears towards the end of the film & meets the gorillas in. My idea was that her wardrobe was starting to cannibalize itself as she cares more about maneuverability and less about proper “fashion”. So she has on a red bustle-skirt without the bustle and a button-up shirt with the sleeves rolled up. If you're surprised at the layers there is this really cool video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wHTgi51z6I ) by Abby Cox about testing historical fashions vs high temperatures & modern clothes vs high temperatures to prove that old fashion clothing wasn’t as crazy as most people assume. If you’re wearing the right kind of fabric more layers can help keep the sun off the skin. Of course Jane is in Equatorial Rainforest Africa soooo the humidity might be killer but a breathable fabric does wonders.

Alright. Well first of all, can we pour one out to the knowledge that Riley absolutely had more than one mental image of tying Abby up with her cute little black dyke necktie? Externally ya know it was "aww... she thinks she's a soft bitch, that's cute" and internally it was "i will string that ass up from the ceiling and ride her like Tarzan"
LIKE TARZAN NFKSKFNMSFNSKNG
Is this the black dyke necktie you talk about?

Storybook Squares (February 1969?)
Storybook Squares was the name given to a special series of episodes of the NBC game show Hollywood Squares. The series featured celebrities dressed up as famous people and characters from history and various forms of media.
Peter Marshall served as host of these episodes. The panelists were introduced by "The Guardian of the Gate", who announced their characters' presence by reading their names from a scroll. The Guardian was played by regular Hollywood Squares announcer Kenny Williams, and the character was similar to his "Town Crier" character from Video Village.
The series ran on NBC on Saturday mornings from January 4 to April 19, 1969, with repeats airing until August 30. The concept was revived during the 1976-77 season as a series of special theme weeks on the daytime Hollywood Squares.
Format On the original edition of Storybook Squares, the game was played in the same manner as the regular game, with celebrities in the squares dressed as storybook and nursery rhyme characters. Two children competed, always boy vs. girl with the boy as X and the girl as Circle. They played as many games as time permitted, with a prize being awarded for each win. No money was awarded; a Secret Square game for the first two games was played, with the setup identical to the 1968 primetime game and first two years of the syndicated version—that is, if the first game's Secret Square was not won, the package was combined with that of the second game, and then after that it was not won.
Panelists The only panelist from the adult show who played as he normally would was Cliff Arquette, who carried his "Charley Weaver" persona over to Storybook Squares. The other panelists played characters from fairy tales and books, historical figures, or in some cases the characters they played on television.
Unlike the parent series, on Storybook Squares each panelist/character was given an elaborate introduction as they entered the set and took their place on the board, allowing for a brief comic interaction with host Marshall as they did so. Some of the celebrities who appeared were:
* Marty Allen as Tarzan and Cupid * Jim Backus as Mr. Magoo (animated character for whom he provided the voice) and Thurston Howell III (his character from Gilligan's Island) * Ted Cassidy as Tarzan * Charo as Isabella * Wally Cox as Paul Revere and Davy Crockett * Bob Crane as Colonel Hogan (his role on Hogan's Heroes) * Abby Dalton as Little Miss Muffet * Barbara Eden as Jeannie (her role on I Dream of Jeannie) * Nanette Fabray as The Old Woman Who Lived in the Shoe * Stu Gilliam as Merlin * Arte Johnson as Wolfgang the Nazi from Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In, referred to herein as the "'Very Interesting' Soldier" * Paul Lynde as Frankenstein's monster and the Evil Queen from Snow White * Paul Winchell as Romeo and Dr. Jekyll (with Tessie Mahoney- Jerry Mahoney in a blond wig- as Juliet and Jerry Mahoney as Mr. Hyde) * Carolyn Jones as Morticia Addams (her role on The Addams Family) * Rose Marie as Pocahontas and Annie Oakley * Roy Rogers and Dale Evans * Soupy Sales as Henry VIII and Thomas Edison * William Shatner as James T. Kirk (his character from Star Trek) * Leslie Uggams as Snow White
1976-77 return When the daytime series brought back Storybook Squares, its format was changed slightly. Instead of a two-player match featuring boys playing girls, the matches used a team format with the boys playing with their fathers and grandfathers and the girls with their mothers and grandmothers.
The children played the first game of the match, with the parents playing the second and the grandparents each subsequent game as time permitted. $300 was awarded for each game won, with $50 awarded per square if time was called during a game.
The team with the most money at the end of the game won a large prize, such as a car or exotic vacation.
* Marty Allen as Tarzan * Milton Berle as Old Mother Hubbard * Valerie Bertinelli as Little Miss Muffet * Big Bird (Muppet played by Caroll Spinney) * Hal Smith as Mother Goose * Paul Lynde as Attila the Hun, Frankenstein's monster, The Wicked Witch, Davy Crockett, and Paul Bunyan * William Shatner as Captain Kirk * Elke Sommer as Guinevere * Susan Seaforth Hayes as Eve and Cleopatra * Bill Hayes as Adam and Caesar * Connie Stevens as The Queen of Hearts * Karen Valentine as Mona Lisa * Anson Williams as Simple Simon * Florence Henderson as Belle Starr * Doc Severinsen (with his trumpet) as The Pied Piper and Gabriel * George Gobel as Henry VIII * Vincent Price as Captain Hook * Pat Harrington (Jr.) as Leonardo da Vinci * Rip Taylor as General Custer * Joan Rivers as The Old Woman Who Lived in the Shoe * Bonnie Franklin as Goldilocks and Peter Pan * John Byner as Long John Silver * Roddy McDowall as Sherlock Holmes and Pinocchio * Arte Johnson as Beethoven * Jo Ann Worley as Martha Washington * Soupy Sales as Thomas Edison * Rich Little as Noah * Julie McWhirter(-Dees) as Glinda the Good Witch (though referred to as "the Good Fairy") and Dorothy Gale * Charo as Lady Godiva (she wore a sparkly flesh-toned bodysuit rather than appear actually nude)
