Looking at Tony and Jack’s relationship:

I’ve seen some discussion on if they were really friends. Jack refers to Tony as his best friend by default because Jack spends so little significant time with anyone else. The bathroom cowboy would probably be his other most consistent interaction.

I don’t think this is put in to signify a bond between him and Tony, but to highlight the isolation Jack has with society. His only & best friend is someone he has maybe one superficial work conversation with a day & he knows little to no information about. Some of the conversations they have aren’t even to each other but hallucinations Jack has. It highlights the mental state of Jack & that he truly has no one in his life at the beginning of his story.

Jerry being a big part of saving Jack from Tony acts as a catalyst for Jack opening himself up to making meaningful connections. Jerry took a bullet for him. The contrast of Jack & Tony’s friendship makes what Jerry & Jack have so much deeper. One of my favorite pairs in literary history. Truly love this series. So many layers.

My favorite part about that end scene with Tony, Jack and Jerry is that while Jerry's being his goofy self, making jokes while they're held at gunpoint, his body language is always very clearly protective of Jack.

"Tony shoved me forward so hard I nearly fell on my face,e but Marlboro caught me and helped me along,"

Marlboro laughed and took another step back to stay right at my side

Marlboro stepped back with me [...]

"If you're going to execute people, do me first!" He jumped between us, [...]

"Move out of the way!" Tony commanded, but Marlboro pretended he couldn't hear the order and bent down to help me up.

- Rosa never really was friends with Tony, even though they worked alot of day shifts together

- Jerry listens to the strangest shit, he managed to find an unreleased album from Frank Sinatra??

- absolute glow-in-the-dark fanatic. Shoelaces, shirts, jewelery, literally ANYTHING

- makes references to the most obscure shit ever. From commercials to newspapers, it's insane

- funko pop collector. To the point that he forgets which he has, and he accidentally buys the same ones

- he LOVES the hunger games, he has the books and blu-ray discs and everything

- sneezes SO. FUCKING. LOUD. that shit could wake the dead and enlighten the deaf

- he has so many books he has to put them shits in those huge ass plastic boxes, you know the ones??

- with all the shit he's seen at the gas station, he really does NOT care if someone dies and it shows up on the news

- Jerry keeps giving him beads and rocks. He doesn't know what to do with them so he puts them into the glove department in his car

- sometimes Jack gets so detached from reality that seeing viscerally bright and neon colors is a relief for him

- he's double jointed!! He doesn't use this weird fucking thing often because it's kinda useless but still

(so delusional about this fucker what)

- he was in track for a little while in middle school, runs so fast it's fucking scary

- catholic, but Tony is SURE he's going to hell

- knows how to use a crossbow very, VERY well!! No particular reason for this but crossbows are a really fucking hot weapon

- fucking converse shoe wearer I swear

- mostly writes in pen, because pencils don't really look that nice with the way he writes

- definitely gatekeeps where he buys his clothes (thrift stores)

- Tony doesn't really like wearing normal T-shirts, the sleeves have to end just above the elbow for him to be comfortable while wearing it.

- prefers savory to sweet, but he does occasionally like something sugary.

Was relistening to Death at the Gas Station tonight while sewing, and something caught my attention: what do you guys make of the fact that Jack tells 'Death' that Carlos isn't dead when Antonio pretty decidedly is? Maybe I'm overthinking it, esp when Jack mentions in. What, book 2? That if he wants to keep posting stories on the blog, he just has to change a couple of details enough for them to fly, but even if that's the in-universe explanation, it just sort of feels like a strange detail to change.

#again i'm probably overthinking it but I know the Jantonio nation is def out there #I think about that guy a lot #obvi I'm more of a Spencer guy in terms of rivals/villains/whatever but I wish I knew more about Tony #maybe I'll write a post-BLaRc revival fic just to see how that.
