Day 9: Most Visually Pleasing Love Scene

Let's get into the colored love scenes. The ones completely bathed in a singular color to evoke a certain emotion fueling the love scene. IDK what the colors mean 98% of the time but I know the color was a deliberate choice.

The Green Bathroom Scene in KinnPorsche. The way I was OBSESSED with this scene. I could watch it for 10 hrs straight and scream and squeal like it's the first time.

The Blue Scene in For Him the Series. Between the blue lighting and Nail allowing Him to undress him completely (jewelry included) I was GAGGED. It was such an eye grabbing scene.

The Pink Scene in the Sign. What can I say about this fucking scene other than PERFECTION!? I liked that we got two love scenes wrapped in one bright neon pink bow, but specifically when they move to the bed and Phaya is PLASTERED again Tharn's back?? The silent consent?? Tharn biting his thumb as Phaya entered him?? *Chef's Kiss*

But also...any type of lifting in a love scene??? Idk man it tickles my brain and I LOVE to see it! Specifically Tharn lifting Type in the shower in TharnType s2. Honestly...Tharn lifted Type's big ass quite frequently.

Oh also that one love scene of Charlie railing Babe against the locker room mirror. I enjoyed every scene of Babe getting railed though.

And the Daddy Couch Scene in Love in the Air. Like that was a treat for me. I prayed for it and was gifted. It was for me.

Does TharnType have some of the best acting that you get to see in the BL industry?

ALSO YES

I feel that is the reason people keep coming back to it even after noticing the problems in the storyline because the actors made it feel so real. Honestly it's some of the best acting I have seen in the BL industry. Not a lot of the series have come in par with that level of acting.

Is it bad that I think people are a bit too harsh on Mame? Maybe it’s because I haven’t watched Tharntype (which I usually see people criticizing) but I see people nagging on her for 2 things: toxic love interests and sexual assault plot lines. The former happens more often than not in BL, and the latter…idk man, not to make any assumptions, but usually when writers frequently include a serious element like this in their work, it’s because of real life experience with it.

Honestly, I don’t really have much to say on Mame per se. There are definitely WORSE authors in the industry.

People will feel what they feel and at the end of the day it’s all about perception.

I do agree with the end, I don’t want to assume anything but that is true for a lot of authors. They pull from their own experiences and traumas.

Hard to say where she got these plot ideas from but, if anyone wants to provide any opinions or open a dialogue about it: Feel free to do so.

In TharnType 2, Type's dad refers to Tharn as 'Farang,' when he isn't a foreigner. Is Tharn Chinese descendant Thai? And would that make 'farang' derogatory in this sense? Type's dad was also teaching Tharn about Buddhist practices in the last episode. From what I have read, Thailand is mostly Buddhist, so do you think it was odd to not have Tharn be Buddhist, or do you think there was intention behind it? Or does this play into the 'farang' comment?

Erm, so far as I know farang is more for European-ness or caucasian ancestry/features. It's got little or nothing to do with Chinese descendant, if the script writers had wanted to indicate that, Tharn would have called his brother hia or something along those lines.

So far as I know it’s not a slur, but like any word it can be made such with the right tone and additional contest. It simply means “white foreigner.”

"... is not a word loaded with intent to harm. If someone is relating to a farang amongst a group of Thais, it’s a convenient if not lazy way to articulate which person it is. While many may object to being labelled in any way, it’s a neutral label and certainly not a negative one when used on its own – though it can be offensive if words are added." (source)

Culturally, whiteness is elevated and idealized by the beauty industry and media so when farang is used by a Thai person on a Thai person the context is... complicated. Mixed complement and insult, I would say.

The best example of the complexity of this use is with Tangmo and Vier in Great Men Academy. Tangmo is “the funny one” while Vier is “the hot one.” They are best friends but Tangmo calls Vier farang in a bro-ish affectionate yet insulting way. Kinda like “handsome fucker.”

Since Type’s dad dislikes Tharn, in this context, farang is being used for explicit othering, but also with a subtextual annoyance at Tharn’s handsomeness.

So far as Tharn not being Buddhist, I think this is done to indicate a class difference more than anything. Tharn’s family is intentionally meant to be VERY wealthy. There is a rich upper-class element in Thailand connected to christianity (also connected to private schooling) and I think narratively, MAME is using this to contrast to Type’s southern Thai “brash” roots. Also it makes Tharn explicitly different than most since, as you say, 85-95% of Thailand’s population is Theravada Buddhist.

Also, very courageous of you to watch TharnType 2, it’s one of my more infamous trash watches. To this day I still call it: TharnType 2: 7 Years of I Can’t Even

Rating BL's I've Watched Based on a Completely BS Criteria

Disclaimer, this is just for fun and a look back for me in my journey through BL! I am thankful and grateful to the hardwork that went into all the series I've watched. Please don't take the ratings or my thoughts seriously.

Also spoilers obviously

Long read ahead let's dive in woohoo!

Love Sick

This was my first BL and I do not remember anything about it other than Min (I forgot his character's name) and Om (I forgot the actor's name) because I literally only watched it for Min. All I know was how slow and unresolved everything was like I do not even remember if the main couple ended up together and I definitely know that Min and Om did not clear anything up shshshhs. I do remember Ssing and Oat's character had a storyline and I don't think that got resolved either. Remember Ssing, he will make an appearance in this post later.

Rating: 3/10 (respect for it bringing me into the BL world)

Make It Right

I remember even less about this one, other than Oat was in it lmao and he was a tiny character.

Rating: 1/10 (this is a rating for my memory rather than the series)

2gether

After Love Sick and Make It Right, I dipped for a few years before coming back because I saw a video on IG of that infamous 'keep looking at me like that, and i'll kiss you until you drop' and instantly I was like I gotta watch this. And not for a second did I regret it. It was amazing holy crap, I am such a sucker for easy ass romantic plotlines. Also the scene where Sarawat was telling his friends how he found the man he liked and he kept saying 'he's the one I like' and his entire emotions and behaviour is that scene was so urghghghghghhg, i can't explain it but if someone ever talked about me like that, i would husband them up so fast. also i liked the way they showed Tine's insecurities, I don't think shows often deal with male insecurity so it was incredibly interesting to see. ALSO TYPE KEPT GIVING ME THE BIGGEST FREAKING JUMPSCARES ALL THE TIME. When he showed up at the apartment and Sarawat opened the door, the way I screamed. I love him, he is my favourite character in the show lmao. Big up to the Chic Gang as well, I am glad I am not the only law student with no brain cells lmfao

Rating: 10/10 (probably shared No.1 position for my fave BL right now)

Tonhon Chonlatee

I watched this for Khaotung but the main couple was honestly very yikes lmao. Also they did my girl Miriam so dirty by the end. I'm so happy Na got a bf by the end, it's what he deserves but also he would have definitely made a better match with Chon. Also coming from 2gether where Gunsmile was adorable, to Tonhon where he was a disgusting man was too much. Pang was amazing, I'm such a sucker for characters who are literally just good fucking friends. AiNi <333

Rating: 4/10

Not Me

Amazing, spectacular, brilliant. I love action much more than I love romance, so I do like how all the romance aspects wasn't at the forefront of the plot. The only thing I didn't like was that BlackGram wasn't a thing. I think it would have been a much more interesting dynamic, especially at the end where it seemed like Black was displaced from his own group by White and he didn't get a happy ending despite everything so having Gram in his corner would have been better. Also because it kind of makes both Eugene and Gram bad people for cheating on their boyfriend/bestfriend. Yok punching Dan was so satisfying holy shit. Also TADAH SSING IS BACK UWU, my 12 year old fangirl phase was coming back in full affect because damn he is still so fine. Also I love a good friendship storyline as well, so yeah the entire thing with Black and Tod, chef's kiss.

Rating: 9.5 (loses points because of GramBlack and because as a law student, I had war flashblacks everytime Gram was arguing with Nuch)

Don't Say No

I love this series. I love Leo's character especially, he is the thing of dreams. Rich, nice and incredibly loyal. I also really like that he is well-tempered and only resorted to violence about twice and both times were out of protective instinct because 1) that guy called his bf a whore and 2) this guy basically forced his bf to sleep with him, so well deserved in my opinion. I feel like a lot of other BL men are just violent for the sake of violence which is a no-no. Fiat's fashion choices are also my favourite, especially that red suit holy shit balls. I LOVE BOTH THEIR FRIEND GROUPS OMFG, BUT ESPECIALLY AMP AND AEK, they are so protective of everyone but also very level-headed so I get why Leo is friends which them. Contrastingly, Fiat's friends are dumbasses <333. I need a whole series about the twins and their shady little selves. I like how they did the sees someone flirting with their mans trope, and how Fiat could definitely see that it was a scheme, finally a man with braincells (I say like I didn't just insult him in the sentence prior), but I also understood how he even though he knew Leo wouldn't ever cheat on him, it still hurt to see your man kiss somone else. Everything about Leon and Fiat's dynamic was superb, I just want them to get locked in a room together and see how long before someone dies lmao. My only qualm is why the series is called Don't Say No, if it is based off their basketball team, they should have kept Super Penguins omfg. Justice for LeonPob when???

Rating: 10/10 (Tied no.1 with 2gether, would be 11/10 if the series was called Super Penguins)

TharnType (spoilers! spoilers!)

This was a lot haha, I'm glad I watched it because the S2 introduced me to DSN but I don't think I'll ever go back or rewatch it. Definitely a lot of issues with how blase they seemed about some of the stuff that was happening. The only thing I really have to say is Lhong omfg, I saw spoilers of everyone on reddit being like he is the most evil character and I was there thinking he just seems like a good, cute friend to Tharn???? I did think he liked Tharn when they told him he was dating Type and he dropped the glass but I didn't think that was alarming. He was actually my fave character in the series until I realised I shouldn't like him according to reddit huehuhe. That baby-face really had me fooled. Otherwise, I don't know what my thoughts are tbh, Type is really handsome though haha. Most of the points go to Techno, he is the moment, he is a star baby. Also I hope Cir and Phugun from S2 get their own series, they are adorable.

Rating: 4/10 S1, 6.5/10 S2 (mainly for LeoFiat and CirPhugun)

Kinnporsche

Still airing but omfg currently obsessed. Mafia and psychopaths??? As someone who is an avid crime show fan, this genre hits. Also the entire cast is so fucking hot. I love toxic, complex relationships and loose morals and murder sprees. The versatility of Free Fall as an OST is amazing, it's both badassery music, romantic music and clown music

Rating: 10/10 (1 million gazillion billion/10 for Free Fall by Slot Machine, deserves a Grammy or whatever the song award is)

My Engineer

Before I started watching I literally only knew about Ram and King (I also didn't know that Ram was Perth lmao, he looks so different with his hair up) so I thought they were the main couple. So when I started watching and I was introduced to Bohn and Duen I was like who tf are these two? But no, this series was actually very fun to watched and I enjoyed it. Frong hitting his head was probably the peak of comedy. Season 2 when?????

Rating: 8/10 (10/10 for Talay's hair, what I would give to run my hands through it)

Cutie Pie (spoilers, spoilers)

No one understands how hard I cried in the first episode wtf. ALSO THE HIAS ARE SO HOT WTF. Hia Yi is so scrumptious. I love them rich, cowardly, emotionally unavailable besties. My favourite scene in the entire series is when Hia Lian called Yi 'My dear' and then Yi immediately shudders and tells him 'you give me the creeps'. They are two hot besties. I also think Nuer/Syn has one of the best kiss scenes I've ever seen in a BL, also Nuer is so goddamn good looking okay I promise I will stop focusing on their looks. The OSTs for this series are the best OSTs in my opinion, when will they release that song Nu Kuea sang in Ep 11. The secretaries need their own series as well. The scene of Hia Lian turning around with tears in his eyes after Nu Kuea rejected his marriage proposal was one of the most devastating scenes that has ever happened, and my ass at 2:30am when the episode premiered could not take it. 'I love that doll the most' is such a hard hitting line, I bawled like a bitch okay T-T

Rating: 9/10 (loses one point because of that cursed dog YiDiao are now the unfortunate owners of, 1000/10 for the Hias)

Secret Crush on You

Okay I saw a lot of people saying how the series gets so good near the end and you just have to deal with the first half of it. And I completely understand all of these people. The beginning is a lot and it's so cringey and horrific lmao. But by the end, the way this series deals with incredibly serious topics is amazing. Some of the characters in here are the biggest green flags to exist. By the time I finished the series, I was definitely thinking that it was so worth it. I highly recommend this series. I want to talk about two of my favourite characters - Inntouch and Som. Som, she is the best of friends. She is amazing, she is so helpful and caring and the fact she knows her friends so well and gets emotional when they are suffering is beautiful. I love her so much. Inntouch is just as amazing as well, the way he is incredibly respectful of Daisy and loves Daisy no matter what they identify as is such a green flag. Also the subtletly of his affection for Daisy is so good, like the way he instantly smiles just that bit brighter when Daisy talks is TOO GOOD. And that smile is freaking gorgeous, urgh love him. Everytime Saint appeared, I died a little, that man does things to me holy crap.

Rating: starts off like a 6/10, ends up a 9/10

Colour Rush S2/Tinted with You

I watched this for Hyuk and Junhee. I couldn't watched the entire series (at least not legally) so I am probably missing somethings plotwise, but hey, let's be honest, I wasn't here for the plot.

Rating: 7/10 (gotta support the homies, stan VIXX and stan ACE)

TharnType's shower scene in TharnType 2: 7 Years of Love. Since their shower scene was cut from s1 we were rewarded in s2 and when Tharn LIFTED Type I damn near ascended (we won't ponder on how Tharn was able to keep a tight grip when they were both covered in suds).

Tharn lifted Type a lot, I noticed, and it's one of my absolute favorite things. I'd also like to go on record and say that TT2 had some of THE best love scenes in all Thai BL.

The Green Bathroom Scene in KinnPorsche The Series. It's no secret I was OBSESSED with that scene. OBSESSED! It was literally perfection. Who knew a hand job could be so...personal...so intense...so erotic? Also it was filmed beautifully! The use of the mirror was *chef's kiss*

The Kitty Play scene in Bed Friend. Oh mah gah! That scene was epic! Everything from the request to the consent to Uea being in total control? King being at Uea's feet practically the whole time? Also the tongue????????????? It was superb.

Can I just go back on record and say that NetJames have NO business serving me everything. All their love scenes HIT!

Cai and Gav's first time in Gameboys 2/Gameboys the Movie. I was not expecting for that scene to be so GOOD! I wasn't expecting a love scene at all tbh. It was sweet and passionate and they practiced safe sex AND confirmed they were vers! 10/10. CaiReel actually own my whole heart.

I really hope EliKoy get their flowers for Gameboys one day.

Yu Zhen and Shi Lei's first time in Be Loved in House: I Do. You ever read in a romance novel about how the couple reaches their boiling point? Like the tension is too much to ignore? That's what their first time was like. It was an explosion of passion and relief. Like if they hadn't done it then they would've combusted. Also...more lifting...

The love scene in Check Out Ep 0...not to be confused with Check Out the Series. Anyways before Nine and Daonuea were ruined they had an amazing and blissful encounter after a fun resort party. They were freshly single strangers who happened to connect on their own solo trips to the same resort.

When I say Chahub and Best DELIVERED on the lust and passion???? THE CHEMISTRY?? They really had me excited for the series...which is why I was so bummed when it flopped. I do encourage EVERYONE to go watch Check Out Ep 0 tho...if it's still on YouTube.

The locker room scene in Between Us. Where do I even begin????? Moving from the pool to the locker rooms to escape the cameras? Win reminding Team he could back out at any time. The damn near visible SPARKS between them??? The way Win looked like he wanted to eat Team up with a spoon?? I was gagged.

The Couch scene in Manner of Death. Between Teacher Tan's hair pulling and Dr. Bun's slutty faces, I couldn't stop screaming. They really smashed in front of the evidence computer and their cactus. That adrenaline rush kicked in and had them going at it like it was their last night on Earth.

Fighter and Tutor's first time in Why R U the Series. I was obsessed with that scene. Loved that Tutor was complaining about Fighter turning him on and then trying to back out. I love that Fighter started at Tutor's feet. I love that Fighter's neck was bared for Tutor. I loved watching them fight for dominance. I loved seeing how absolutely breathless Tutor left Fighter.

Jim and Wen's "one night stand" in Moonlight Chicken. That was the most passionate and intimate one night stand I've ever seen. Uncle Jim covering Wen's face in kisses and lacing their fingers together? Wen kissing Jim all over????? For that to be EarthMix's first love scene they really delivered.
