❄️Rimerock/Ri - He/Him | An ancient silver dragon, a brave, loyal, reserved noble knight. His silver clan was killed when he was merely a hatchling; a pair of gold dragons took him in and raised him as their own. He grew up with two siblings, Neralshul (younger brother) and Mirikshul (elder sister and later his first mentor). When Mirik died, he was infected by fatal corruption no ordinary method can heal. He accepted his fate and fought evil alone, seeking revenge or his death, until later met Larksharius, who offered help. Soon after the corruption was removed, they married. Ri changed from LG to LN to side with his partner.

🕊Larksharius/Lark/Chiron - They/Them | An archlich, a soft-spoken, detached, curious plane traveler and knowledge collector. They are a demigod in disguise as a mundane human necromancer. The Osirian deity Set chose them as their successor. Lark runs an algorithm to maintain their kind act and LN alignment. As an imperfect archlich, they believed that they could not experience feelings or emotions. But this was proved not true when they fell in love with the silver dragon Rimerock.

🔱Neralshul/Nera - They/Them/She/Her/He/Him (gender fluid, amab) | A gold dragon, the youngest sibling of Mirikshul and Rimerock. They infected corruption after Mirik's death and turned from LG to CE. Their brother Rimerock's attempt to help them ended up fruitless; thus, the two survivors parted ways. When they Adopted Blackstar, the small black dragon brought some sense back to them. Later they became the ruler of the Stolen Lands. Their name means "spear of the sun" in Draconic. LG to CE to N

☀️Mirikshul/Mirik - She/Her | An ancient gold dragon, the eldest sibling of the three, Rimerock's first mentor. She was her brothers' guiding star until she fell, killed by a demon lord when she tried to protect her siblings. Her name means "song of the sun" in Draconic. A true noble knight. LG

🌟Blackstar/Star - She/Her | A young fey-marked black dragon, adopted by gold dragon Neralshul, and is Rimerock's niece. She is a True Azata KC related to wotr. Thanks to her efforts, Rimerock's body can function the same as a living creature even if he has been turned into an undead. She and her companions all ascended as demigods. Secret ending. CG

May, 1943. The entire school is afire with rumours about the mysterious attacks and their relation to the Chamber of Secrets, but Lucretia and Walburga Black have rather more important matters on their mind—such as skipping their dreadfully dull Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson to smoke in the second-floor lavatory. Regulus: the grandiose "fuck you" letter to Voldemort.

Lucius: That he is our antagonist for both Chamber of Secrets & Prisoner of Azkaban and he is comically defeated in both? He is the Embodiment of Evil Rich People who exploit the system, positioned as against well meaning commoner Arthur in CoS + Hagrid in POA. Both Ginny and Buckbeak escape his machinations, thanks to our pesky kid protagonists.

• least favourite thing about them

Regulus: This is less about Regulus but more about the reading "Regulus was kind to Kreacher therefore Kreacher is loyal"? If you grow up in a household that likes to cut off their slaves' heads and put it up as decoration, you are going to absorb fucked up, dehumanising attitude towards house elves. It makes more sense to read both Regulus and Sirius's responses to Kreacher as a manifestation of their relationship with the Black family, where both of these privileged teenagers cannot fully grasp the power dynamic between themselves and the family servant. Regulus's issue with Voldemort is less about Voldemort leaving Kreacher the house elf to die, and more about Voldemort exploiting and throwing away a sentient being that represents the "Most Noble and Most Ancient House of Black". Voldemort disrespected the Black family by doing that, and that is what Regulus cannot abide by. Kreacher is loyal to Regulus because Regulus displayed values Walburga cherishes, "proper wizarding pride" and Regulus was good to him as an extension of the family. Harry in turn gains confidence and trust of Kreacher by validating and respecting Kreacher's core value of feelings of loyalty to Black family, and not out of "kindness" (which Hermione repeatedly displays and gets rejected for).

Lucius: I mean, there is so much to dislike, one doesn't know where to begin lol ... I guess that he escapes jail time post canon?

Regulus: "It was I who discovered your secret" - look at the amount of pride in this sentence. He was most probably an arrogant little shit like his brother.

Lucius: i can't think of anything from the books, so I am going to go with Jason Isaac's delivery of "I don't know" when Ralph Fiennes' Voldemort asks him, "how do you live with yourself Lucius?"

• broTP

Regulus: Sirius. Sirius clearly displays some complicated feelings about him. Given that his brother was a Death Eater and his parents were not, the difference in feelings and criticism of his brother vs his parents is very telling - "stupid idiot". Something he calls James in the same book. Regulus's room is also left untouched while Sirius spends an entire summer throwing out everything related to the Black family, again a very telling sign.

BroTP: Snape, I guess? Sirius calls him Lucius' lapdog, which can be read multiple ways but it is clearly suggesting that, in Sirius' eyes, young Snape was a bit of a try hard with Lucius. Snape has pretty complicated feelings about Malfoys, as the sorting memory implies that Lucius sort of took him under his wing and in adulthood takes on the task of protecting Draco.

Regulus: we get nothing in canon, so I don't know. I know Jegulus is a popular ship, but it always felt like Prongsfoot-lite to me.

Lucius: Narcissa.

Regulus: Kreacher. Yes this cursed content exists.

Lucius: haven't thought about this much. Anyone other than Narcissa perhaps is a nOTP? The dude is not great.

Regulus: adopting @mrs-stubby-boardman hc of him being a good painter.

Lucius: Ginny got to punch him once at a Ministry party for slipping Tom Riddle's diary. She punched him for a completely unrelated remark/shenanigans, but they both know what it is really for.

Regulus: probably died a blood supremacist still. His disillusionment with Voldemort was personal.

Lucius: I mean this should be obvious to anyone reading the books but it keeps showing up in fanon often enough that this is a unpopular opinion - he didn't abuse Draco. He spoiled him.

8. Who tends to worry the most?

I was going to answer this with 'both equally', but the more I think, the more I realize that Solas is the one who worries the most. XD

I mean, come on. We all know Solas is a natural worry wart. It's in the man's blood, and Fane has a tendency to make his dear wolf's blood pressure rise to fatal heights with the shit he does. PFFT!

Fane is a literal battering ram when it comes to battles (this is based on how I've specced him in-game), and he just charges in without caring if he'll get sliced, diced, or scorched. Fane's illness with magic makes it incredibly difficult for Solas to erect barriers on him, so he has to devise other ways to keep Fane in one piece (nitpicking about his armor, constantly asking, 'Are you certain you are ready?', and begging, 'Please control yourself this time, ma'isenatha.') All of that worry comes from the fact that Solas has seen Fane die, has had to guide him to it, even. Fane doesn't mean to brush off that concern and worry, but when he's embroiled in battle he...loses his senses a bit. Dragons aren't meant to fight, and fighting is what Fane does best in his new life, so he has a hard time balancing bloodlust with merciful restraint.

If Fane gets injured (which he does, but only grazes and the occasional gash), Solas won't let anyone else attend to him, fear gripping his mind, memories of blood soaked crystal and decaying scales cracking his mask and rendering him tortured. When Fane sees that, instead of just seeing the nagging, he'll go docile, go remorseful and will say, 'I'm sorry, my sky. I never meant to-- I only--hn.' Once they talk and wind down though, things get right back on track, but Solas is constantly worrying over his dragon--constantly.

Solas worries about everything with Fane--his scars, his nightmares, his battle with his identity--but battle is where he's the least reserved in it. He doesn't want Fane to have to fight, but he knows they both don't have a choice in the matter.

9. Who is more inclined to be jealous or possessive?

Dragons--naturally possessive, i.e. hoards.

Wolves--naturally protective of those within their pack, i.e. touch member of pack, you get snapped at or even bitten.

Fane and Solas are both highly protective of one another. They just go about it in different ways. Fane's more likely to snap and glower at an infringing form, making it known where they can take their 'affections'. Solas is more reserved, but most can attest that his gaze leaves them shivering and near stone with how cold it is if Fane is randomly touched by an unwanted suitor or harassed by a fawning noble. Obviously, Fane and Solas try to keep the respective beasts at bay, worried the other will think less of them for such childish behavior, but sometimes--sometimes--it's extremely hard to keep a polite mask in place due to memories of harshness and filth.

For example!

"You're...jealous?", Fane asked, blinking and attempting to piece together what he was feeling now. And he couldn’t. “Of who?”

Solas' eyes fell shut with a rueful chuckle. "Most here. Is that hard to believe? It is petty, I know, but eyes have been upon you since your entrance; each pair a set of daggers. You carried yourself with confidence, with pride, and every single noble within the ballroom responded to your very presence. They whispered, they sought, they undressed." The final word a mixture between a hiss and a growl that was accompanied by a small sneer of disdain before it all relaxed. "My heart knows where your own lies, my dragon, but my mind, too, is being a thorn in my side."

Fane stared down at Solas, shocked and...mesmerized. His sky had been jealous of the looks of fops and prisses? Those who had no chance of ever reaching through to his heart? To his emotions? Those who played with lives as a puppeteer did with strings?

This was...oddly amusing, but only because they were both fools.

Here they were, in the lion’s den, hunting an assassin that threatened to topple an empire, seeking answers to questions they didn’t even know yet, playing a game of macabre chess and deciding who would rise and who would fall, and they were both jealous from nattering nobles who killed for sport or an inconsequential servant girl that would be forgotten in the morn. The ridiculousness nearly made Fane cackle. Was this what court intrigue encompassed? He didn’t see the appeal.

Fane huffed out amusedly. "I love you.", he said, point blank with no room to be denied. “Ar lath ma, ma tarasyl.”, he repeated in Elvhen, lifting a hand to rub at his face and shook his head in disbelief at himself.

Solas’ eyes snapped open at his declaration, a blush stretching across his face and was apparent even in the shadows that embraced them. That swath of delicate pink nearly had Fane cracking, breathing out a steadying sigh through his nose instead. Damn anything that was holy, if poison didn’t kill him, this endearing, foolish elf would. How could he be so blind when responses like that reaffirmed where his sky’s heart lay?

“Sorry, it’s just..”, Fane started before letting out a tiny laugh, massaging his cheekbones in slow circles. “You looked so ashamed by how you felt, even though I just said I felt the same way. If anything, I should feel ashamed because I’m jealous of someone far more innocent than these Orlesian pricks.”

Solas tilted his head, raising an eyebrow. “May I know who you were jealous of?”, he inquired.

Fane let out an airy laugh, kneading his brow with two fingers. “The servant girl that just left not even five minutes ago.”, he admitted, face growing hot with shame and embarrassment. He was such a fool. A pathetic, blind fool.

“The servant--?”, Solas began before letting out a quiet, breathless laugh of his own. “Ma’isenatha, you are aware that we are at court, at the heart of Orlais, yes? Appearing gentile and cordial is but a step in a very specific dance. My reactions to her were equal parts genuine and fluid, and I felt nothing beyond that.”

Fane huffed, letting his hand fall to his side. “I know, but it’s like you said, just the sight of another making reaches for someone you fought for, someone you adore and respect is infuriating. I just got you back and to have it taken away again is--”, he tried to explain, lifting his hand back up to rub at his face again. “Fenhedis lasa. A fucking smile sent my mind spiraling. Ridiculous..”

16. Do they enjoy dancing?

Fane is the guy who stands in a dark corner at parties, and glares at everyone who tries to get too close, soooo...no. PFFFT!

However, if it were just he and Solas in their quarters, a light of levity possessing them, then he might be willing to let the other teach him steps that weren't able to be done by massive claws. The Winter Palace is the one time Fane takes the initiative and actively offers Solas his hand for a dance--all grace and poise unlike that of a dragon.

...The finery didn't fall fast enough that night for Solas. *is SLAPPED*

And I like to think Solas secretly yearns for such simple pleasures as a waltz or ginger circle, swaying to the music, time seeming endless once more. He misses what was before, and maybe just a tiny step can make him feel a little less lost. :3

53. Who is the better dancer?

Solas. 100%.

Fane is graceful in battle, able to shift his weight and glide with the flow of blood and chaos. But the more delicate arts--that of dancing? Yeah, no. My boy's prone to step on someone's toes and curse for them because 'A dragon? Dancing at court? Void take me..' Vivienne and Josephine had to let Solas teach Fane how to dance because he was so against the idea that he would lock himself in their quarters and refuse to entertain the two women. Solas has a hard time, but with Leliana's help, they manage to get Fane to see he does have a certain knack for the finer things. *winks*

Honestly, Solas is shocked at the Winter Palace when he sees Fane dancing with the Duchess because...he moved as if from memory, and not the one's of stumbling, cursing, and heavy sighing as legs tripped up and toes were stomped on.

Fane moved like an Evanuris--those attuned to the ancient courts with a charming smile in place to match. *sips my tea* Exquisite~

91. What is their song?

So, if I do like the implications that 'Once We Were' gives, and Solas and Fane like more gentle songs like that.

But me, personally? I adore 'Red Like Roses' from RWBY for these two. It just hits a lot of key points for me about them, but I seriously have to get a playlist together since so many songs make me thing of these two. 'Bad Habits' by Ed Sheeran is one that makes me think of them, too. Mainly Fane, but some parts fit for them together. *urge to compose a playlist intensifies*

elain for the character asks?

Considering how long it took me to find the prompt bit, I think this has been languishing in my inbox for a shamefully long time! I’m so sorry- I am terrible at asks, but I love them and thank you :) How I feel about this character: MY GIRL. I love Elain, I love writing Elain, I hate beyond the scope of reason how Feyre sees/talks about her sister.

As someone who, irl, has also been just like, wildly disregarded for/while presenting extremely feminine, I feel for her. Elain is still an Archeron. She’s got fire in her- even the baking thing. Noble Archeron Daughters were clearly never allowed to learn basic domestic skills, it is a rebellion. That’s our theme overall- I think there’s so much that gets swept under the rug, or goes unnoticed with her.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: So, in fic, I have thus far paired her with: Lucien, Azriel, Lucien AND Azriel, and Morrigan. If you come from the frame of canon, Elain can be shipped with basically anyone, because we know...almost nothing about her actual thoughts/feelings.

I also...have a wild rogue option.

1. Lucien. Come on- let Elain have some of that mischievous charm! that canonical good Autumn banging! Let them get together with aching slowness and fuck off from the Night Court that underestimates and sorta dislikes them both forever. They’re mates for a reason, even if I do also love the idea of a platonic bond.

2. AZZY BABY. Look, despite ACOWAR, the great charm of this ship remains almost purely aesthetic. They are a COMPELLING combination. Her hair tangled on his armor! Azriel blushing! the fact that they both have so, so much going on below the surface and seem to, at least on Azriel’s side, understand that. BUT. BUT. unless canon can find a way to double back on SJM changing her mind from ACOMAF’s clear Az + Mor Forever bullshit, and this is just...here Az, have another beautiful blond lady to protect, I WILL RIOT

3. Why have a love triangle...when they can all love each other?? (I remain steadfast in the fact that queer Az like...makes the MOST sense, but I digress.)

4. Babes, stay with me: Jurian. I personally think that his actual role in canon will be to become Vassa’s king...but canon is wildly unreliable. ACOFAS, nightmare that it is, is our bridge to the future.

Elain is lowkey obsessed with regaining her humanity. It is Not Subtle. Feyre, because she’s Feyre, frames this as Elain still being in love with Greyson...which I don’t really buy. It’s about what Grayson represented: safety (which a la Jane marrying Bingley absolutely extended to her also being able to protect Nesta, fight me), familiarity, the sort of life Elain has thought she’d have since childhood. Everything around her is unfamiliar and threatening...and furthermore, the lady wants her original body that was forcible taken from her.

Jurian is our One Human Hero. He’s team humanity 1000%. Elain is going to wildly fuck his world view: she’s High Fae, but she was born human. She’s a faery, and she wants to be human- but all the good parts of Human Elain didn’t just disappear with transformation. It is DELICIOUS.

Furthermore, we get cogent elements of other Elain ships- Jurian is fucking ancient, he’ll understand her war trauma. He’ll fucking throwdown to defend her. He’s in the unique position to understand both Magic Powers, but also, her human heart. He probably gets, considering his own history, more than the people around her are willing to, that Elain Is Not Okay.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: Not to be the most on brand, but NESTA. I always find it so ridiculous in canon, that every single time Elain says something cutting or like..remotely sassy, Feyre is like ELAIN? Elain?

Elain and Nesta are sisters- AND best friends. Elain has more social graces..but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t also have those thoughts. They get along- they’re a team.

My unpopular opinion about this character: Not to always scream the same thing- but. I want her a thousand miles from the Night Court. She is so transparently going through the motions, and they like her for that?? Its SO unhealthy. There’s no respect for her as person, she’s fully boiled down to The Nice One We Have to Take Care Of.

She is a GROWN WOMAN, and is she is NOT OKAY. I want her to snap. Burn down that house Rhys bought her. Fuck all the way off like, I’m a seer, I control my own destiny, I am allowed to be in pain.

Even if what she wants in the end is a quiet, normal life, I want her to get the chance to choose it. Not because her younger sister bought it for her and shoved her into it so they’d have more pleasant smalltalk to make at family dinners. It is...not that insane for grown family members to love each other and still live lives with healthy boundaries.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Oh jesus, so many things. The limitation of Feyre’s Little Sister goggles is the most telling with Elain, because unlike Nesta, Elain doesn’t always have the tools to make herself heard.

Okay, but actual prediction: I’ve talked about this previously, but I think Elain going Full Faery is going to be an intrinsically more magical journey than Feyre or Nesta. She sees the future- her power isn’t a tool (Feyre), or a compliment to her being (Nesta)- she became something else. I want her to be the wild one. Just, utterly fey in the literary sense, otherworldly, scary beneath the prettiness! I want her to be allowed to have the range.

hell yes. i once unfollowed someone (who is since long deactivated) for posting “tivva and her old moff cutesy headcanons”. what the fuck, fandom.

i also make a habit of unfollowing people who do Shit that i complain about on the regular (fascism/wh-te s-premcy rhetoric apologetics, ab-se shippers, etc). (though i am more picky about who i follow than i used to be. for a lot of people though it’s nothing personal, i am just a Weirdo who likes to read their entire dash, so i keep the number of blogs i follow low. but if we interact on anything resembling the regular i probably have a nose at your bagel anyway)

jk/scourge. i’ve seen it done ICly exactly once. most of the time scourge is rewritten as a noble romantic knight in edgy armour and not the manipulative borderline-stalker that he is. i hate the pairing for the shitty characterisation that usually accompanies it and i hate the pairing for the abusive relationship it would be were he IC. there is no winning move here except not to play.

corso/smuggler. i get the feeling that most people into this pairing like corso as they want him to be, not corso as he is. or maybe that’s just wishful thinking on my part, idk.

doc/quinn. this pairing is peak White Fujoshi and i hate it. i hate the examples where it’s doc repeatedly hitting on an increasingly uncomfortable quinn, because haha sexually harassing someone is both hilarious and hot am i right. i hate the examples where it’s quinn seducing doc for intel on the resistance (protip: that’s rape!). i hate it i hate it i hate it if i never see it again it will be too soon

f!sw/almost anyone male, as a result of the endless shitty revenge adultery abuse fics that are all over quinn fandom. not all f!/sw/anyone male fics/ships fall into this category, but most of them seem to, especially /theron and /pierce.

(something something why is it that the majority of people who write f!sw/men of colour only do so in order to generate manpain for a white dude, huh)

jaric kaedan. he’s great i love him. grumpy, arguably less than ls, but passoinately dedicated to the jedi and the republic. hates scourge on sight. badassed the Dread Masters into submission. pushes for the jedi to take action in a war targeted at wiping them out instead of hiding behind the republic. he’s just *chef’s kiss*

Unpopular opinion about XXX character?

major anri exists only to put a likeable face on the empire. she and brax are incredibly deliberate (not to mention hamfisted) attempts to Humanise(tm) a genocidal imperialistic fascist regime and to attempt to play on the guilt of players/characters who take the saboteur route. sadly what bioware seem to fail to realise is that i traded my ability to feel sorry for the empire for a magic bean. it was completely worth it.

Unpopular opinion about your fandom?

swtor fandom is a dumpster fire. racism, misogyny, fascism apologia, ablism, we got it all, folks. in that respect it is not abnormal for fandoms but this is neither an excuse nor a selling point.

it is also not welcoming in the slightest if you take issue with any of the above.

Unpopular opinion about the manga/show/game?

the old method of unlocking travel waypoints was way more immersive (even if it was a colossal pain in the ass). exploring the depths of belsavis for the first time was awe inspiring - seeking out ancient forgotten tech to dig into secrets locked away for untold millenia.

yes, it was a huge pain in the ass, especially if you were on your nth alt. i’d be fine with some system (maybe legacy based) where waypoints/speeder points for a planet are unlocked once you’ve completed the planetary story for the first time (or something). there is so much content in the game that just gets missed by first time players because bioware want to rush them through to the very end and it sucks.

If you could change anything in the show, what would you change?

invent a time machine, arrange for the firing of those who okayed kotfe and its shitty story that glorified a repeat abuser and its shitty gameplay and its total lack of repeatable group content in an mmo. make the writers produce something that a. actually stayed true to the themes of star wars and b. didn’t glorify an abusive genocidal shitlord like valkoriate.

then find myself some lottery numbers and set up a fund for giving out money to people who are reduced to begging on social media for medical bills.

“I have something to tell you.”

Orion paused in the act of buttoning his nightshirt. He cast a look at his wife—sitting at her dressing table, brushing out her hair and braiding it as was her habit every night before bed—and tried to gauge her mood.

“You do?” he asked, carefully.

Walburga continued with her hair, as if it were nothing of import, but when Orion stepped closer and met her gaze in the mirror, he saw a look of pride and satisfaction—even excitement—in her eyes.

“Yes, I rather thought you should be the first to know. I’m expecting.”

Orion’s own eyes widened, unexpected joy bursting in his chest.

“You’re certain?” It had been four years since their wedding, after all, and although neither of them had ever spoken of it, the fact that no child had been forthcoming had led to... concerns.

“I brewed a potion this morning that confirmed it. It’s still early days, I can’t be more than a few weeks along.”

She lowered her hand to touch her stomach, where—Orion could hardly believe it—their child was now growing.

“That’s wonderful news,” he said, excitement buzzing inside him. His lips seemed to be tugging up into a smile without any conscious effort on his part.

“Isn’t it?” She met his eyes in the mirror, taking up her hairbrush again to mask a giddiness he had rarely seen in her, but that resonated strongly with his own emotions.

A child! She was to be a mother! And he—a father!

Gently, he took the brush from her, lifting her hand to his lips. “Exceedingly so,” he murmured, gratified by the light flush on her cheeks. He gently pressed her fingers before releasing them.

“When will you be able to determine the sex of the child?” he asked, helping to hold her hair as she finished braiding it.

Whilst any child was, of course, a delight, Orion had no doubt that the family would be awaiting the arrival of a boy with bated breath, eager for the long-awaited heir to the Black family to be born. Especially their parents had not been shy in reminding them of their duty.

“Not for a few weeks yet,” she replied, only to continue with utter certainty, “but I know it will be a boy.”

He stilled, trying to suppress the surge of joy. “How can you tell?”

“Call it a mother’s intuition.”

Her hair now done, Walburga again touched her belly through her nightgown and Orion put a hand on her shoulder, filled with a rush of protective feelings for his wife—and their son.

“You should come to bed,” he told her. “The elf will no doubt have warmed the sheets already.”

They could tell the rest of the family later, but for tonight the joy of this moment would be only theirs to share.

Chapter 1: Sirius & Walburga

"The only surefire way to take myself out of the line of succession…" Sirius said, slowly. "…Is to marry a Muggle or a Muggle-born witch."

The delicate clink of silverware being set down cut through the heavy silence the statement elicited.He was not looking at his mother—after her reaction to that afternoon's tussle over girls he may or may not be having one-night stands with, Sirius did not fancy facing what was sure to be a livid expression, so instead he looked to his father. By contrast, Mr. Black took the news of his son's intentions in stride; he seemed to be seriously considering the prospect.

"That would work. Of course, it would have to be by wizard rites, and the—union—would only be valid if there was issue." Orion looked thoughtful. "Seems a lot of trouble to go to, carrying on with a mudblood and siring her half-blood brat over a mere principle."

Mrs. Black had started to tremble, her hand inching towards her wand on the table. Only Regulus dared look at her, and it was with mild terror.

"You have to have a kid for it count?" Sirius wrinkled his nose. "Also, I'd prefer if you didn't use that word in my flat."

To Sirius's surprise, his father did not assert his rights as patriarch and holder of his son's leash to push back on the request to refrain from offensive language—instead he shrugged and nodded, indicating by his dismissiveness it was of no consequence to him what word was used to refer to his hypothetical daughter-in-law.

"Muggle, then—it amounts to the same thing, as far as your plan goes," Orion said, leaning back in his chair. "Rather daring—you really intend to go through with it?"

Mr. Black was also not looking at his wife—he could guess that she was quietly seething, and the dressing down his whelp of a son was about to get for being stupid enough to say this around her was quite deserved.

"I might've—the having a child with her part I didn't realize," Sirius admitted, glibly. "I figured I'd just go down to Muggle courthouse with a good-natured bird, get hitched real quiet-like, then grab a quickie divorce down the—"

"Be quiet!" his mother cried, standing up and brandishing her wand at him, furiously. Sirius actually dropped his coffee cup in shock—but he quickly rallied. "How dare you—talk about marrying filth—in front of me—"

His involuntary eye-roll was not a particular bright move, in the circumstances.

"Mother, it was a joke!" Sirius stood up and threw his napkin down on the table. "I'm not seriously going to—"

"Marriage to common harlots is not something to joke about!" his mother said, the word sharp and poised like a weapon. She was gripping her wand very tightly. "And If I ever hear you speaking that way in my presence again I'll make it so you can't do anything with any woman."

Sirius stared at her in flabbergasted shock—then collapsed back on his chair, weakly. Nobody at the table spoke for a painful half-minute.

"Well, then—guess that plan's out," he said, in a small voice, and he hunched his shoulders in a defensive posture.

Chapter 8: Sirius & Regulus (Reggie knows how to land a blow)

"Well, aren't you a regular Sherlock Holmes?"

Sirius jumped off the couch and sauntered around the table. He seemed casual—a little too casual, and the way he was holding his wand suggested boded ill. Remus and Lily exchanged a look of frank concern, but James kept his eyes trained on his best friend.

"Who is that?" Regulus asked, in a voice that spoke to how beneath him he thought the question.

"He's another nosy know-it-all," Sirius shot back, snidely. "Go eat lunch, then, and leave us in peace." He gesticulated around the borders of the cluttered living room. "I officially proclaim this a Slytherin-free zone."

Regulus's face colored, and he once again looked as young as his eighteen years.

"I'd like to see you tell Mother that," he said, haughtily.

Unlike his elder brother, Regulus was rarely given to slamming doors—so he shut the one to the kitchen behind him with a well-bred snap.

Sirius glared at the wooden door, his hands clenched ineffectually at his side. The awkward silence filled the air in the living room like the monotonous hum of a refrigerator.

"He has gotten full of himself in the last three years," Sirius muttered to his friends, apologetically—as if they were the ones who had been left embarrassed by Regulus's pointed commentary. "Real cheeky. He's forgotten his place, the prat."

Reggie + coronation street

"Alright, Sirius, I'm back," Lupin called loudly, from the doorway. At the sight of the dark-haired figure on the floor in front of the blaring television set, he frowned and crossed the room, grabbing his friend's shoulder. "So, are you going to tell me what is all this about, or am I just supposed to—"

The figure on the floor spun his head around—face crimson. Remus did a double-take—the boy sitting cross-legged on carpet, face practically pressed up to a television set playing what appeared to Lupin to be some kind of night-soap—was not, in fact, Sirius.

"Why are you here?" Regulus demanded, crossly, shrugging off the other man's grasp.

Surprised, Lupin and let go took a step back. His eyes flicked from the blaring black-and-white television set and back to the younger Black brother's face. There was a haughty look of superiority there, as if he were challenging Remus to dare laugh.

"Sirius asked me to swing by," Remus said, faintly. His friend's younger brother was now making a half-hearted attempt at blocking the television set with his slight frame and was making a pretty poor showing of it. "…What are you watching, Regulus?"

Regulus reached behind his back and fumbled with the knob, eventually managing to switch the set off.

"Nothing," he said, evasively.

"Was—was that Coronation Street, or—?"

What do they love about each other?

Haethriel absolutely loves being around someone that’s not so serious all the time. Elathi can be fun, someone she can laugh with, practice less academic magic with.

Elathi, for all her blind bravery, struggles with anxiety but Haeth is someone that sort of melts it away. She feels a strange sort of comfort with her, like they just fit.

Neither of them has experienced very much of the world and their shared curiosity is something that creates quite a deep bond.

What do other characters think about this relationship?

So Haeth was born (whatever that might mean) not long before the creation of the Veil. She knows very little of the world she came from and even less of this new world, just that she likes this girl.

Solas and Abelas 100% do not approve of this at first. They do not need frivolous fraternizing to complicate their goals. It’s best for everyone to just focus on what needs to be done. Solas softens up a bit because it’s not fair for him to harbor feelings for Ayelet - and consider acting on them - while he lectures his people on the dangers of distraction.

Ayelet thinks Elathi and Haethriel are sweet. She kind of hates that her little sister’s relationship with an ancient elf seems to be going much more smoothly than her own, but she just wants El to be happy. Haethriel is made to be Ayelet’s personal guard, and Yel hates this too, so most of the time she dismisses her knowing Haeth will find El and run off to do whatever it is they do.

The rest of the Lavellan clan has ceased to be surprised by this particular branch of the family. Lavellan and the ancient ones mingle so easily that soon no one bats an eye at El and Haeth.

Asenath Lavellan and Josie

What made them realize they were in love?

It’s a pastime for Asenath and Krem to talk swords, jobs, and girls. Both of them are pretty shy so it was a lot of “Who do you fancy?” and “What would you say to her if you could?” You know, really adorable shit. Eventually Krem realizes all the answers to his questions lead back to Josie. “Sounds like you’re in love, Sen.” And he was right, so when Sen got back to Skyhold, she went straight to Josie and told her.

Josie was writing a letter to Asenath while she was out in the wilds somewhere. Absently, she started writing “My love” and shocked herself enough to drop her quill. She promptly discarded that letter and started again. She knew it was true but wasn’t ready to admit it to Sen.

Are there any love rivals?

I like to think Josie’s always got some offer of marriage or another sitting on her desk and she delights in passing them to Sen to read aloud before throwing them in the fireplace.

What’s a really significant moment in their relationship?

(Since I haven’t played through the relationship yet, I’m just spitballing here. I’ll write more when I get there.)

Asenath meeting Josie’s sister at the Winter Palace was huge. She never expected a human of noble blood would introduce her to their family with pride. It was a big deal for both of them!
