I just started reading Palace of the Damned and I'm honestly getting misty-eyed at how much Larten loves kids. He fights so so so hard for baby Gavner. Keeping this child alive, in turn, is the only thing keeping him alive.

And I'm crying at the anguish he must've felt when Darren failed the trials. If Darren had been taken to the Hall of Death, I honestly think Larten would've followed him to the grave. The only thing keeping him alive throughout that book was the flickering hope that Darren had survived and escaped

Has anyone else read all 3 of these series?? If so I have a thought and I'm not sure if anyone else has had the same.

Spoilers ahead:

So The Demonata Series is about Demons from another universe, and or multiple. It's been a minute since I've read it. If I remember right the most powerful of demons can cross over from universe to universe.

So with that in The Saga of Larten Crepsley and The Sage Of Darren Shan, there is a man named Desmond Tiny. He's a powerful man. He's created magical beings. He loves chaos. He can also travel between universes I believe.

So does anyone else think that Desmond Tiny is a demon? Or is it just similar because it's the same author? I need to finish TSLC, then reread TSDS, and then reread The Demonata to be sure and get more evidence. but I'm pretty sure I'm onto something.

What are your thoughts?

it’s only just now dawned on me that most darren shan characters don’t have official character art apart from the occasional character featured on cover art (mainly in the saga of darren shan and then again in the saga of larten crepsley)

like there’s no official designs for most of the disciples so what i’m saying is i get to go wild (within reason) with character designs when i come to drawing characters!

A time-travel fix-it AU came to me in the form of a dream last night, so here I am to share it with you all.

The Plot: Somewhere during the events of The Trials of Death and The Vampire Prince, Darren messes with shit that he was explicitly told not to mess with and winds up passing out during one of his trials/a battle. He then proceeds to wake up in an unfamiliar place, a place that quickly proves to be unfamiliar because it is several hundred years in the past. While trying to figure this out Darren manages to stumble across a pre-Larten Seba, who takes one look at Darren and says “Yes sir, there is something up with this child” while also promising himself that he will track down and kill whomsoever blooded this kid if it is the last thing that he does. 

Darren is both understandably terrified of this situation and completely agreeable to the idea of staying with Seba, because he knows Seba and Seba would never hurt him despite being an old-time vampire that is always prepared to throw-down on a moment’s notice if need be. Two or three months go by of these two just trying to exist, and then suddenly BOOM! Larten. So now Darren is really freaking out because Seba is still trying to non-too-sneakily track down and kill whoever blooded Darren, how does Darren even begin to go about explaining that this kid ACTUALLY IS the one who blooded him and he isn’t from this time your honor.

But Seba is, while not completely oblivious to this internal struggle; not getting very much warmed in his guesses about the truth yet so what happens is basically just “Oh, hello there small and vengeful child! This is my other child who is already a vampire, I am trying to find and kill whoever blooded him, play nice now!” :D

So long story short Larten and Darren get progressively closer whilst Seba politics with Paris about his growing brood and Darren delights in calling Larten a twat sense they are equals now and he can do so whenever Larten screws up. Wester then get’s introduced at right around the same time that Seba and Paris finally figure out the truth and confront Darren about it, Darren whom does not handle this well and has a breakdown (Seba and Paris are surprisingly down to comfort him rather than scold or berate him, like obviously there is tough love there too but Larten you could learn a few things from this.)

Darren goes home after a few more months of past-life therapy, idk how dream was nonspecific.

Baby Crepsley pre Seba but post Vur switches places with adult Crepsley so baby Crepsleys stuck with Darren and adult Crepsleys stuck post Vur pre Seba

And I lie more au where shenanigans have Crepsleys past projected to Darren and Seba and them realizing how close Crepsley came to ending it all in Greenland

So I started The Saga of Larten Crepsley again. I love The Saga of Darren Shan or as others know it Cirque du Freak. It's honestly my favorite series... Yes even about Harry Potter.

I wanted to reread that so I figured why not reread The Saga of Larten Crepsley, which leaves off right where The Saga of Darren Shan starts.

I've read these books only once before and have read The Saga of Darren Shan at least 4 times.

So as I'm reading The Saga of Larten Crepsley, I feel like it just goes too fast, and doesn't have enough detail.

For someone who hadn't read The Saga of Darren Shan first, these books wouldn't give you the details you need as TSDS does.

I feel like TSLC is just a series to make more money off of a series that did well.

They could have had so much more info and details.

Mind you I just finished Birth of a Killer, and I'm one chapter 3 of Ocean of Blood. So I'll keep you all updated with how it goes.
