It occurs to me that one difference with the webcomic is that there is much less that Saitama can salvage from the remains of his house.

There, all Tatsumaki did was knock down the apartment. So he found some of his clothes, crockery, King's portable game, papers (including the challenge letters Sonic sent him), even a still-functional microwave. Very, very bad, but not hopeless.

Here, he's really down to just the clothes on his back. The buildings haven't just been knocked down. They've been covered with volcanic ash, then knocked down, then crushed by the actions of that absurdly-big centipede monster, and then flooded by seawater. There is very little worth salvaging -- no cash, plants, clothing, papers, electronics. Any unbroken ceramics are washable, metal too if he gets to it fast enough before the saltwater corrodes it, but yeah. He's got what he's wearing. And he lost his wallet the night before, so any bank cards or ID cards he normally carries are gone too. Saitama is going to have to start all over again, from scratch.

No wonder he feels done with the world.
