Ah Treviso, great skyline.... What altitude are you at to have what looks like snow so low on the moutains? Aren't you near the coast? Ah, never mind.
Wait...
Tumblr media
What is that? Those banners look...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Looks like Treviso is still occupied.
(My silliness is supplied to a bunch of mutuals and people in shared servers yelling about this for hours before I woke up lol)

Anyway here's the Guerrin timeline as best I can piece it together, if it's useful to anyone!
Updated 7/14/23 with corrections & additions.
~8:84 Blessed - Eamon is born. (The Calling - He's 15 at the time of the Battle of West Hill, which occurred in 8:99 Blessed.)
8:99 Blessed - The Battle of West Hill. Arl Rendorn Guerrin, Eamon's father, is killed in action. Maric Theirin is presumed dead but reappears in Gwaren, which is then taken by the rebels. The Battle of River Dane deals a decisive defeat to the Orlesian forces, though the conflict is not completely over. It will take several more years to completely drive out the occupying lords. However, Emperor Florian officially withdraws support for King Meghren.
9:02 Dragon - Eamon, 18, returns to Redcliffe to claim his place as arl, but find it still under Orlesian control, and works with the rebel forces to reclaim it. Isolde, the daughter of one of the Orlesian governors, is sympathetic to the rebels and becomes infatuated with Eamon, who does not return her feelings; nevertheless, she feeds information to the rebels, and chooses to stay in Ferelden after her family is driven out. Isolde is four years younger than Eamon, making her 14 at the time. (WoT v.2 p. 102, 106)
9:02 Dragon - Maric kills the usurper King Meghren in a dual, officially ending the occupation and winning Ferelden's freedom. (There is a noted discrepancy in the dates between the epilogue of The Stolen Throne, and World of Thedas vol. 1, the latter of which puts the duel at 9:00 Dragon. Given other events, the later date seems more plausible.)
~9:08 Dragon - Six years after their initial meeting, Eamon (24) meets Isolde (20) again in Denerim. They quickly become involved and are married. (WoT v.2 p. 103)
9:10 - Alistair is born to Fiona and King Maric. His parents give him up to be raised at Redcliffe Castle, inventing a story about his mother being a human serving girl. (The Calling.)
~9:20 Dragon - Isolde becomes pregnant with Connor after difficulty conceiving. This causes rumors about Alistair (10) being Eamon's bastard to resurface, and Eamon sends him away to a monastery to spare his wife's feelings. Connor is born soon after.
~9:29 Dragon - Short of taking his vows as a templar, Alistair (19) is conscripted into the Grey Wardens. (WoT v.2 p.79)
~9:30 Dragon - Connor Guerrin (10) shows signs of magic. Isolde hires an apostate, Jowan, to tutor Connor in secret. Eamon (46) is poisoned by Jowan and falls ill. (Origins.)
~9:31 Dragon - Following the Blight, Eamon decides to stay in Denerim, serving as an advisor to the throne, eventually declaring his brother Teagan the new Arl of Redcliffe. (Origins, WoT v.2 p.104)
?:?? Dragon - (If Connor is dead) Rowan Guerrin is born to Isolde and Eamon. After a difficult birthing, Isolde dies. (Potential Origins Epilogue slide.)
?:?? Dragon - Rowan Guerrin shows signs of magic and is sent to the Circle, though her father continues to visit her. (Potential Origins Epilogue slide.)

✨ #Worst in Thedas ✨
Due to a recent conversation that confirmed that all our Inquisitors are literal goblins with no self awareness when it comes to topics to discuss during meals... ...I feel like starting a drawing meme in which Inquisitors / Hawke / HoF are sitting at an hypotetical dining table having the best time explaining their quirky interests << I mean, it can totally be in writing form as well, because I'm super entertained by them being The Worst™ and I don't want to exclude people who can't or don't feel like drawing lol

Mythal is intricately linked to the Blight.
Prior to Dragon Age Origins, Mythal told Maric that the Blight would begin in Ferelden in The Stolen Throne novel.
In Dragon Age Origins, she rescues the protagonist from the darkspawn massacare in Ostagar and emphasizes on them that the true threat is the Blight. She is also the originator of the Dark Ritual.
In Dragon Age 2, she rescues the Hawke family who were fleeing the Fifth Blight.
In Dragon Age Inquisition, Mythal says she knows what Corypheus (a blighted darkspawn mage) is better than we could possibly imagine. Dalish Elves also have a legend of Mythal hunting and defeating Andruil in the shape of a giant serpent. Andruil had gone to the Void to hunt for creatures, getting crazier every time and started using powerfuly terrifying weapons & armor. Mythal made Andruil forget after she defeated her. This is a lot like what happened with Red Templars.
The smoking gun however, can be found in the Temple of Mythal. Fans have cleared up the whispers you hear if you or Morrigan drink from the Well of Sorrows. Link: https://www.reddit.com/r/dragonage/comments/2rpled/spoilers_i_cleaned_up_the_audio_at_tom_and_found/
"Mythal speaks the Calling." That's a pretty clear indication that Mythal is intimately involved with the Blight.

this is just my liddol hairbrained theory and its definitely not happening in da4 but i do. TRULY think that the franchise/century of dragon age is going to end with a 6th blight. if for no other reason than bc it'd be so fucking funny

Kirkwall Crew after the Finding Nathaniel quest, Anders is going on about how they were in the Wardens together and he’s the one who made Nathaniel realize he was into men, too.
Sebastian listening to this whole story, knowing he dated Nathaniel like a decade ago, and HE was the one who made him realize he liked men.

Alistair is smart; he just doesn’t want people to realize it. I want to call him king for that, but…. sgjdhdkekkd THAT’S HIS WHOLE PROBLEM.

Aside from the map aspect of the trailer, I think one of my favorite thing about it is the dragon gugrle that starts right after the voice-over ends, when the title appears, and before the wolf howl. Like it's the same/similar noise that some of the dragons use right before they decimate your party with a breath attack in Inquisition.
Bull was right about appreciating that sound, it's so good lol. If you can't tell I'm really hyped about the dragons we will hopefully see in the game as well as more of the lore given the Vinsomer codex that was shown previously.
Desperate for fauna, flora, food, and all things that comes with maps lore. Let me be able to ignore the main plot and pretend I'm a botanist in between plot beats.

Grain of salt for tumblr polls, etc, but I am genuinely fascinated that The Calling lost, and lost by so much. I fully expected The Stolen Throne to be the one that got tanked in that poll because it's just so easy to dunk on, and because a lot of people also love Duncan and Fiona (and the Architect). I guess that Loghain backstory and/or all that Maric/Loghain sexual tension is just too powerful!
If I may venture an unprovable hypothesis,
I'd guess that The Calling is less compelling overall despite featuring some beloved characters because maybe the relationships in that book just aren't as compelling. There probably are some fans out there who are ride-or-die for Maric/Fiona? but I really don't see much enthusiasm for that ship, and the interest in Fiona seems mainly for her connection to Alistair (and sympathy for her backstory). The Architect is there but has yet to reach his full sexyman powers as he will in Awakening, and we get only the barest glimpse of the beginning of his bond with Utha. I don't think I've ever seen anyone passionate about Genevieve, or Bregan, or the book's several other disposable sidecharacters (though if you are passionate about any of those characters, you should send me an ask and tell me why, because I love it when people love minor characters). We love Duncan and we love Fiona, but their relationship in the book, while it has some great moments, isn't especially deep. Duncan backstory is a draw in itself, but unlike Loghain and Maric, none of these relationships are especially profound for Duncan. They're just the setup for his bond with Alistair, which is very compelling--but that relationship isn't actually in this book.
It's the events of this book that are important, not the relationships. And maybe that's the fumble! The Stolen Throne didn't even bother showing us the Battle of River Dane, where Loghain earned his title, because I think Gaider knew deep down even then that the true emotional core of that story is Maric and Loghain, and that most of us would care less about the details of how the war was won and more about these two and their problems and how they want to fuck each other so bad it makes them look stupid.
It's not actually about romance, or sex, or even sexual tension; it's about the connection between characters. That's what we really lose it for, isn't it? Just sticking a romance in the forefront doesn't carry a story. Maric and Loghain carry The Stolen Throne, not Maric and Katriel or even Loghain and Rowan. Rhys and Evangeline might end up together at the end of Asunder but to my mind, the emotional core of that story is Rhy's relationships with Cole and with his mother. Last Flight is about two elven mage Wardens connecting across the ages by a journal left behind. Briala and Celene, whatever your feelings about the relationship itself, absolutely carry The Masked Empire because it is their relationship and their tension that drives the story, which is why imo they're the most compelling of the romances in the novels, even if it's not a happy or healthy relationship (and the fact that it isn't is part of the story).
To expand on a Mark Darrah quote, "It's about the characters, stupid," but it's also about the relationships, stupid. The draw of Bioware games is that they have all these really compelling characters that your player character can have interesting relationships with. So it makes sense that relationships are going to be what carries the supplementary media as well, and makes them worth getting into. The best ones know that and are, I think, the most successful.

"Anthony, do you find the Mad Mage remotely tolerable? Do you think he's just grumpy because he's been isolated for so long?"
Tumblr media
"Remotely tolerable? Interesting choice of words. He's certainly stern and very.... rough around the edges. I'm starting to meet more hedge mages and finding that they're comprised of all sorts and that this effects them in different ways. Solas will never speak about himself but he'll share any fade dream he has about anything one can even think to ask about. Morrigan seems to know more about the ancient elves than the elves do. And t hen you have Ulysses who is more a man of action, I think.... They all have something to impart, if one is patient." ((tldr - Ulysses is an enigma, and Anthony likes enigmas))

I must say that THE most funny and incredibly tragic thing about my Lavellan is that by the end of Trespasser, after all the shit that happened to her throughout last couple of years, she is, in fact, in a waaaaay better mental and psychological state then at the beginning of Inquisition
