he startles at the small touch against his leg from where he's seated. the drink he has in hand sloshes a bit, but when he goes to keep it steady. zagreus lowers it back down to the counter as his head turns to the source of the voice. mismatched, mesmerizing eyes widen at the sight of the little girl calling to him,  ❛  i  -  yes?  ❜  he asks as if to say, is there something you want? because normally, you don't see a child wandering around a bar full of supernaturals, loud music, and alcohol. at the mention of yuna, though, he warms at the mere thought of his love  -  she had wandered off to grab another bottle of alcohol a customer asked for and told zagreus to keep an eye on the counter while she was gone.

no problem for him, so he's been on watch for a bit. yuna probably got lost trying to find the perfect bottle too, because that's just how yuna is with her work  -  all in or nothing at all.  ❛  yeah, you could say we're close.  ❜  zagreus comments, not giving much more information to ponder on for the little girl, but of course he spent a lot of time with his girlfriend. he was a bit of a kicked puppy if she denied him her presence anyway. 

❛  is something wrong? do you need me to get yuna for you?  ❜  but when the little girl mentions what she wanted, zagreus internally winced at the mere mention of the top shelf and he looks over to the bar and directly up at the top shelf. he ... he wasn't going to be able to reach that. zagreus curses himself and his shortness, and he looks down to the girl and he smiles meekly,  ❛  i'm not ... really a tall guy. i'm sorry,  ❜  when he turns in his seat, zagreus makes an example of it by swinging his legs a bit. there was quite some distance between his feet and the floor on the bar stool.  ❛  think we can go on a little hunt for someone taller?  ❜

Okay, so I have a smaaaall idea for a possible fanfic/fan comic/au, so I'm just gonna say it in the lamest of terms that I can, feel free to take this idea and make it yourself as long as you give some credit and also tag me in the posts. Pre Enter the Florpus btw.

Zim realizes just how big the impact that Professor Membrane has on planet earth, and he tries to use it to his advantage. He kidnaps him one night without anyone knowing (somehow) and quickly makes a clone of him, programming it to be almost completely identical to Professor Membrane himself, except the clone is now loyal to the Irken race, making it to where if Zim told him to go do something in the name of the Tallest or whatever, he'd do exactly that. Though Zim made one tiiiiny mistake. You see, Zim isn't aware of what Dib's or Gaz's home life with Professor Membrane is like, and since Professor Membrane himself was still unconscious as he made and was programming the clone, he couldn't have asked him about it. So what did Zim do as to try and not get Dib suspicious about his new plan? He tried to make his father's clone as close as possible to the original... Except Zim ended up making him loving. More compassionate. More emotionally supportive and available, like how most of the other parents on earth act towards their children. So imagine the surprise that Dib experienced when he was just rambling on about ghosts and para-science to his dad, thinking that he'd not care at all about it like always and maybe even lecture him about believing in it once again, only to hear the first words out of his mouth be, "Wow son, that's amazing! Say, where did you learn that from? I honestly wouldn't be surprised if you taught yourself that though, as my boy has always been a smart one!" Immediately, Dib and Gaz noticed these differences from him, though Gaz was the only one who had gotten suspicious about it, as Dib was just so happy that finally his dad was actually being there for them!

The rest of it is basically Gaz doing a Dib and practically going insane as she tries to figure out what happened to their dad, meanwhile Dib doesn't believe that anything happened at all, despite the already clear evidence that something did infact happen, all the while Zim is trying yet failing to get "Professor Membrane" to do his bidding, as the clone is now mostly on Dib's side when it comes to their beef. I'm calling this the Professor Memfake Au, do with it whatever you like (besides gross pro shipping shit, never do that with my creations).

Kyle shook his head proudly, giving him a haughty look.

“You? Beating me? You must have forgotten that I was the head of the debate club at school”.

Cartman's eyes flashed with a predatory gleam, and he readily extended his hand to Broflovski, as if he had been waiting for that. The air between them seemed to sparkle with tension, and Kyle grabbed his palm defiantly.

"A bet, then?" Kyle nodded, and the audience – their classmates standing behind him — enthusiastically supported them.

“In case of loss, you suck my balls, Kaaahl”, Cartman smiled nastily, watching as Kyle nodded eagerly by inertia, and then, having realised the last remark, went furious, indignantly opening his mouth.

“What the fuck?! Do you think I'll fall for it again?”

The crowd behind him gasped in shock, and Kyle instantly blushed, turning to them in a mute attempt to defend himself. Rebecca squeaked "again?" in surprise, and Cartman, as if he knew that this would happen, sighed sympathetically:

“Oh, I’m sorry, Kyle... Sorry, guys, he doesn't really like to remember this episode of our life, you know?”

(the actual focus of this post is Nepeta, but I'll mark this under "troll biology" because my headcanon extends to all wigglers)

(important note: actually, the most possible theory is that Nepeta's tail is a fake one / a costume / part of an animal she previously killed, since it's not seen in her dream self and because of how its color matches her cat hat -made with the pelt of one of her prey-... but I'll totally ignore this and go for a biological explanation because fuck yeah science)

There has always been a debate about whether Nepeta's tail is a fake one (costume), a prosthetic one (built by Equius), or a real real troll tail. I didn't had a theory of my own about this... but a few weeks ago I was looking at pictures of caterpillars and trying to draw wigglers / grubs... and this idea just hit my brain:

Nepeta's tail is a real one (like, biologically it is part of her body)... and is covered in setae, the insect version of "hairs". 

The word "hair" is incorrect when applied to insects (and trolls are an insect-like alien species, they have many characteristics similar to irl arthropods) because hairs are morphologically different from setae and are considered a characteristic of mammals and not arthropods. I usually use "hair" when I talk about the trolls in Homestuck just because it's a much better known term and people can tell right away what I mean, and I also think the setae on the trolls' heads have evolved in a way that its structure is relatively similar to human hair... but not identical.

But well, going back to Nepeta:

Perhaps it is a vestigial (but abnormally elongated, a mutation) body part, previously fully functional (normal) in her larval / wiggler phase, where she possibly had some urticating setae too (modified setae with venomous spines). This can be seen irl in many hairy caterpillars whose bodies are covered with urticating setae.

I think ALL troll wigglers (not just Nepeta) have their body covered with small setae, and there are 3 areas that stand out regarding the concentration and length of these, especially the urticating ones: the head (initial troll hair), the "back" (dorsal side) and the "tail" (which is just the final part of the abdomen). These 3 areas are usually the most susceptible to direct/frontal type attacks, and surprise attacks from above or behind, so it is logical that these are the most protected.

Some of these setae have defensive functions (venom. On contact with them, the predator would experience itching, inflammation, burning sensation and pain), others have secretory functions (pheromones, chemicals that allow a wiggler to attract a lusus and modify their behavior so that they sees the young troll as a creature to be cared for and defended), and other simpler setae just have basic mechanoreceptive functions. Lusii and other trolls would be immune to wiggler venom.

Normally, trolls lose this "hairy tail" during metamorphosis, but in Nepeta's case it was retained and became longer while her body grew, coincidentally looking a bit like a cat's tail. I don't think her tail is still dangerous after her metamorphosis, but perhaps some of the setae still produce very very smaaaall amounts of venom, so it's best not to touch it (perhaps it causes just a temporal slight itch on the skin. It's not a problem for other trolls, but surely for human skin).

Freud is a bit of a hack who would probably not hear what you said, diagnose you with mommy issues, ask you about your thoughts on cocaine and split, but GODDAMN, I accidentally managed to turn his whole id/ego/superego shtick into a way to fight executive dysfunction.

It’s super easy too! I just sort of object-personify my id and superego. It’s entirely my voice and personality: just one part is doing the gremlin “ehh, stay in the shower, it’s your birthday, you’re so smaaaall” and the other the mature “yeah but I should get up because I love myself and that’s the best thing to do”. And somehow it sort of seems to actually work and alleviate things! Because these are distinctly different needs and wants, and so being able to properly separate these needs and wants helps me to judge them against one another, rather than struggle to keep afloat in them.

So that’s how I learned that channeling my autism to do a wizard battle inside my brain can help counteract my adhd
