Please tell us abt the parallels :o
YEAH OKAY SO!!!!
in this au (and as i write ralsei in my canon always lol) the biggest thing that puts pressure on ralsei's life is the prophecy--it says a human, a monster, and a prince from the dark, and because it is a prophecy, and it is fate, is HAS to be true, and ralsei, as a darkner, a group of people who literally exist below the lightners, is charged with bringing this prophecy into fruition. she has spent her entire life ALONE, with nothing but this prophecy for comfort, saying that one day, ONE DAY, she'll get through this and she'll have friends. but yknow, that weighs on a person! its heavy and terrible and she has contorted herself to fit what fate tells her she must be.
and then for noelle, the big thing putting pressure on her? her dead siblings (dess and kris. kris isnt technically her sibling but yknow for ease of language thats what i use. also we know they arent dead but noelle and the rest dont). with their deaths means noelle is now the baby of the family, a family that is shaped by this great gaping grief noelle cannot comprehend, because when dess and kris died she was young enough she barely remembers them beyond like, maybe half-formed memories but she isnt sure if those are real or just what people have told her. shes expected to be grieving her dead siblings but really she just sort of. hates them a little bit. for going off and dying and now her mom and toriel are super overprotective of her, and she knows its her fault asriel never left to go to college and hasnt even left hometown, and its just. its rough.
so both noelle and ralsei have these Huge things that have defined their lives that neither of them want, but. too bad! WHICH LEADS TO EVEN MORE PARALLELS. slash foils lol.
because when it comes to the prophecy? noelle isnt supposed to be in it!!! while this au is sort of a roleswap in that noelle takes kris's place its not a roleswap in Any Other Way, which means, yeah, the prophecy is still supposed to be a human. and noelle, uh, isnt that! but she goes around and helps close dark worlds and is part of the delta warriors anyways, which is, for ralsei, this like, really scary point.
cause ralsei? adores noelle!! thats her best friend!!! ralsei doesnt know if she has a crush on noelle or wants to be noelle! noelle just does what she WANTS. she bucks against the pressures her family puts on her. she dives into the dark despite the fact that this world was never made for her. shes TRANS. shes a GIRL, and she can just DO THAT, and ralsei looks at her, and just. wants. in every sense of the word.
because noelle has all these things put on her like ralsei does--but noelle gets to slip out of them. noelle gets to be a person.
and ralsei, non-person, darkner: she doesnt.
she never will.

I don't normally post sketch dumps - but would anyone want to see one of my latest ML AU that's giving me brainrot? Feeling bad that I'm spamming the discord buddies with visions of torment and I have so many 😂

i still say i do kinda vibe with the aegosexual label.
though tbh im not sure if its mostly due to trauma or not
I am a sexual person but i do not like being touched. I enjoy the imagination / thought of it over actually doing anything
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Are you at all concerned about how they'll handle Hunter in the last two episodes? It's been really concerning to me how he's been sidelined in the past two episodes, by the draining spell and possession. He hasn't gotten to really do anything significant in TTT, as he was excluded from the Blood hunt& failed to warn them of Belos, and now he's lost Flapjack, so he'll struggle even more in combat. I'm slightly concerned, plus they're setting up ANOTHER Belos V Luz., which we don't need again.
Um. No. I'm not concerned about Hunter in the slightest. I think it's an agree to disagree situation but I can't wrap my brain around any of this.
I don't think Hunter was sidelined in King's Tide at all. He did plenty. He had just as much of a role as Amity, Willow and Gus did. And if you're referring to the fact that he was incapacitated by the Draining Spell, that didn't really sideline him either? He fought and he fought until the last few minutes when he physically couldn't anymore. If you're referring to the fact that it was Luz that handled most of the Belos confrontation rather than him, then....no. Hunter, at this point in his arc, was not ready to confront Belos. He was not ready to fight Belos. He was still utterly terrified of Belos. That's the reason he didn't do anything "significant."
And like. Man idk where to start with the whole Thanks to Them part. He was the deuteragonist of that episode. To say he was sidelined because he didn't participate in the blood hunt is like....he had a whole subplot all to himself about finding his own identity, while Luz's four other friends had to share one between them.
I think what I'm not getting here is what you'd define as "significant." Because I feel like he's done a ton. Not everything about Hunter's arc is rooted in progressing the plot or having badass moments. A lot of it is character based. And if you don't consider Hunter's huge moment of standing up to Belos near the end to be significant then...man idk what to tell you.
Also I feel like this is a little dismissive of the Luz and Belos relationship, which is pretty important too. Obviously it's not as layered as Belos and Hunter and I'm pretty certain that will have a satisfying conclusion too, but Luz and Belos are narrative foils. I'm not gonna dig into it right now but it kinda fucks hard and I won't complain if there's more of it. But I guess that's a matter of opinion so I won't knock you for that.
Anyway if you haven't liked the direction they took with Hunter's role in the story thus far, you might be disappointed by the upcoming episodes.
I know I won't. At least not when Hunter is concerned. I'm more worried about characters like Willow and Gus.

xenoblade 1 is interesting because when I first played it I had really mixed feelings. mostly I think because it had been slightly overhyped for me. there were so many videos with masterpiece in the description and people saying it was their favorite.
there was a lot that first turned me off during the story (namely the way it handled its female characters made me frustrated at multiple points) and also how they handled the revenge arc because I have very very specific taste in revenge arcs and I just dont think it landed for me.
I think I appreciate it a lot more now that im fully deep into the series. I do like a lot about it, from its gameplay to its environment to a lot of the little cast interactions, to just shulk existing. yeah. yeah its alright
