Very much love your take on the new looks for Orym and Ashton! I saw a bit of your post about how Liam and Tal give feedback... would you be willing to share any information about how the back-and-forth process works between you and the actors as you work on their stuff? (I just love hearing HOW the awesome happens, not just the end results.)
Yeah okay. Lemme think, here. Alright let's so this as a numbered list-
1- Actor sends description of character. This is pretty broadly interpreted, in my experience. It's something between a brief paragraph, an annotated pdf, and multiple pinterest boards.
2- I send back a Pitch. This has taken multiple forms in the past, but it's generally settled into a few pages, that kinda go-
a- Poses and Vibe Sketches- This includes little portraits, attitude poses, a couple sketches showing extreme dynamism or movement. I try to suggest outfits and weapons or accessories, here, but I don't spend a lot of time fleshing it out.
b- Outfit Poses- usually on a turnaround or one fairly lowkey pose. I try to include 3 or 4 serious attempts at outfits and maybe a couple of backs, if it's important.
c- Color- I usually just pick an outfit at random and try to give it a few different palettes. If the actor is absolutely sure what the palette is, or if it's a character I've worked with before, I might just make one palette and briefly color each of the outfit sketches from b in that palette
d- Accessories, Weapons, Other Important Stuff- if the character is carrying around like a book or a bird or a really specific weapon, I try to address that in its own space, though sketches for all of those things may exist on other pages. This has been known to be very pretty or a bit boring.
3- There is some form of back and forth between me and the actors (and a producer, who are all lovely and don't step in on creative things but are always working against a schedule and need to know how things are going. I just want to be clear that every producer at CR is a secret angel who eats deadlines and shits magic and every one of them totally Gets It. They are all One Of Us). The back and forth is always individual and based on the actor but it can be-
a- Actor picks from menu, usually via complex "circling" system (also all sketches are numbered, so they can just ref numbers).
b- Actor sort of picks from menu, while moderating and adding further references.
c- Actor just sends a bunch more shit and I narrow stuff down based upon what they seem to be getting at.
4- There's this bit of finding what the pose is gonna be, marking in all the necessary accessories, getting that last email about adding a scar, can we add a necklace? etc. What you are left with is something that the Producers call "pre-final." If it hasn't already been with the modelers and painters this whole time, this is when the modelers and painters get the design and start their magic.
5- I go away into a cave for a time period of quiet reflection with my Gods. I refer to this period as "rendering." I cannot be reached by the reason of man and spend a lot of time bitching to my friends while I try to figure out why shading a cape is suddenly the most difficult thing I've ever dealt with in my life.
6- Done!

Trips here like a damsel in distress
hi hello! I revive h e r e biT-
ahem anyways
SOOo I decided to post some artworks ‘n sketches I made these past few days/months and that I am quite proud of :D
Let me start with this sweetie Over here
Sorry for the bad lightning This is a school sketch of my oc named Poli ^^ she looks (and is) an adorable sweetie
10/10 would pat her fluffy poofy hair if you asked me
onto the next one >:D
so
using this base
It doesn’t belong to me btw-! I found it on Pinterest and decided to use it
to draw the human form of my vampire oc Abyssus uwu; credits goes to the artist that made the base,I do not wish to claim the base as mine- it is the artist’s- really was helpful and had fun drawing my lad ^^
I still am struggling with positions and poses and such,so I’m trying my best uwu; but if they turned ugly as hell I just pick a base from Ibispaint or on Pinterest. Both helpful uwu;
onto the next drawing which isSss
I’m super proud of thisss :,>
this is Prince hugo :D I adore his outfit,it’s a mix of two outfits I saw in the internet that.. I forgot what they are now and deleted from my camera roll :,> oops- but the wings and the position he’s in is from ibispaint itself ,I already tried drawing without a base or ref or anything but it turned and I struggled a lot :,> I already drew the face and I didn’t wanna draw it again cuz it looks amazing, and drawing a crown was HELL for me ,so I only picked a good base from the app ibis itself, got the body and position I needed and then continued :,>
And the wings. I know how to draw wings but it’s hellish and I wanted to try to use more bases from ibis- luckily they have wings bases thank god and picked one of them and went creative mode
^^ really proud how it all turned out
Now last but not least is this
This is Yami :D another royalty oc of mine
nO DON’T ARGUE WITH M E - I am a sucker for royal medieval crap- I have more than two royalty Oc’s and I do not regret it ✨
.. excuse me if I sound like a hyper child trying to make the fanciest op character ever that I’ll cringe about it 5 years later 💀
but I’m really excited about him :,> so ye-!
his outfit is from the internet itself - searched fancy stuff and got it,tho it might take forever to get it again :,D
that’s it for now tho- hope you all like it ^^ I have much more artworks but my arse is hesitant and in a hurry for now sksksksksk- I might show more if you all want to,in the future- ^^
bai bai for now!

How did you start drawing, and do you have any tips or tricks you could share please? Here I have Klavier Gavin with me: achtung ja baby ja ja this is klavier gavin you should help this anon out ja
oh mein gott monsieur klavier gavin i am SUCH a big fan!!!!!!!
jokes aside, i'd be happy to help! (regardless of you having klavier or not lmao) i'm gonna put this under the cut just in case it gets too long
i started drawing... mostly because i hung out with anime kids, so subsequently they were art kids as well, but i really only started taking it seriously when i got a good pen tablet lmao. i wasn't very good though, i mostly followed tutorials from books and online, and if you saw my art back then it would just be a lot of whales, dragons and ponies in the same poses every time
idk if i have any specific tips or tricks ? since idk what you're going for with your own art so i won't be able to give very concrete advice or how-to's n stuff like that ? but if i had to say anything, try looking into doing gesture drawings! they help improve how you understand poses, how to exaggerate them, just overall something quick u can do daily to improve lmao. i mostly just look up poses on pinterest then try to get the flow of them. i just got started on em so inevitably i'm still kinda bad at it but here are a few just to give a quick example
an important thing to note is that u get more fluid poses when you find a line of action first. i used to be really confused when trying to go about finding them, but then my prof defined it as "the longest line of a pose," and even said it's not always the spine (as most people would think). sometimes it's the line from an arm to a leg, or a leg to a leg, even. it helps to draw a circle for the head as well. u could even draw all the lines of the limbs if you want then simplify from there
another tip is to keep reference boards of art u like! dissect how they color, how they portray depth and different angles of the face, etc. just know when to draw the line between picking out things you like about art styles you see and straight up trying to draw exactly like that one artist. i keep a reference board of how artists i like draw klavier, for example, because i want him to have the same jawline maybe, or i like how they color, but i never try to draw him just like they would. tldr the way i draw is just me frankensteining artists i like and combining them with my own art style, and it's not something i'm ashamed of, bc people can still tell it's me, and it's not like i'm copying their ideas or tracing their art lol
related to the last one: download pureref lmao it's literally free and a lifesaver. it makes it so much easier to put collages together and everything is so customizable AND u can even make notes on it. it sits on top of all your applications, and you can move it around, make it as big or as small as you want, and even change the opacity of it??? if you've seen this post, i fr just threw the images together last-minute and took screenshots to add to the ask. if you work on ipad and you're willing to spend a little extra money (because procreate's reference thingy can only hold one image at a time n i don't feel like making a new photo every time i want to add something to my reference board) then vizref is like four dollars and it's almost the same
that's probably all i can offer you ? if you want an arsenal of tips n tricks for art, i always go to @/artist-refs if i'm looking for something specific. the tagging system there is just. amazingly organized, and they even have writing resources too. they haven't been active in a while but it's still a huge archive of resources regardless lol
