i am playing professor layton and the curious village on my ds. very fun!!!

I don't know if i'm very far in because most of the time spent in that game was me being confused and bad at puzzles. it's fun though.

!!! im glad to hear youre enjoying it!! its one of my fav titles and honestly such an underrated series, id love it if more ppl gave it a try!

the puzzles can be difficult but very rewarding!! i used to dread them as a kid but now i find them nice and challenging. the math ones are still hard, but if u speak to Flick at the cafe he'll give you chess puzzles which i think were my favorite ^_^

#its nice because its story driven but gives u enough room to do the puzzles on your own to make progress.. and the rewards like #the gizmos painting pieces and furniture for the minigames are also a nice bonus because it gives u a little extra incentive to solve as #many puzzles as possible!! ngl i didnt know how the hotel room minigame worked but i had fun completing the painting and robot dog #plus the variety and the fact that u dont know which puzzles youre gonna get makes it interesting. and theres no harm if u cant finish or #end up missing some because you can find them in the riddle shack or just do a different one instead and its fine. very cool #i have dyscalculia so the math ones have always been hard for me and id need my brothers help so we'd work on it together #or i'd just search up the answer as a last resort............ #actually im gonna save u the trouble. if u get the camera case puzzle the answer is 95. ITS FUCKED UP I KNOW BUT ITS 95 #it took me like 2 hours with my brother just to figure that out and i dont want anyone to get a headache from that one ITS FRUSTRATING #ive only played curious village and pandoras box bc its the only ones i had as a kid. replaying pandoras box rn actually!!! #i have cracked versions of unwound future and azran legacy which come after CV and PB BUT my version of unwound future is broken #it freezes on the opening cutscene every time i try to play it which SUCKS bc i really wanna play the games in order. maybe ill emulate it #professor layton #ask #answered #yapping #doodles

#im posting this very late because i was sort of weary of how it came out and ended up messing w it until it was like 4am oops. #and i have plans tmrw so... oh well! i did my best and ill put it out while i can! #and i tried to make the scene match barnard's colors lol #finn's ocs #finn's art #i know i said id do more sillay stuff with the simpler screentone only style but i had a couple more of these in me #and this is the first piece im making thats like an actual part of the story too rather than just setting stuff for fun #i wanna write something to go with it too but for now ill just sort of briefly explain the context in the tags here: #barnard has a pretty bad case of OCD and his compulsions have made it difficult to make friends in the past #he was never outright bullied or anything but people just didnt really have the patience to deal with it #he has compulsions that include stuff like walking through doors until it feels right and needing things to be perfectly aligned #which in group settings has lead to people having to wait for him to finish his rituals and join them #they might find it tolerable at first but eventually they grow impatient and hes just... not invited to stuff anymore #but juno is a newer member of the guild who ends up frequenting the same library. hes also kinda a little weird #and they dont become fast friends or anything but just sort of naturally spend time in the same place #though they never plan meetups they eventually fall into a routine. around the same time theyd just both be at the library #and read next to each other. and maybe talk a bit. and eventually they end up walking back to the guildhall together #since theyre going to the same place after all. and juno always waits for barnard outside the door #eventually barnard asks if this bothers him. juno kinda just tells him 'of course it does' without any malice or anything. just a statement #barnard is surprised and apologizes and juno says not to. but the next day juno doesnt show up at the usual time. #barnard assumes hes committed somekinda more by bringing it up. he ends up staying there late reading to get his mind off it & not ruminate #but when he leaves juno is in fact still waiting for him down the hall (see pic) having collected a bunch of books literally abt ocd #he fell asleep bc barnard stayed later than expected. and hes an eepy guy generally. and also one very bad at expressing himself #but now barnard gets that juno's 'of course it [bothers me]' had the implication of 'but its worth it' which no friend has previously done. #and from the interaction juno was also able to understand that this isn't something barnard just does for the hell of it so. he studies. #and checks a bunch of stuff out because he thinks it could help his friend too (theres ocd workbooks and such- i remember working w them) #and thats the point where they became more ''friends'' than ''pleasant library acquaintances'' #from there on they also do get into juno's problems. whole other bag of worms. but this specific scene is more about bernard from his pov #sorry about when i said briefly explain. i lied </3 #but compared to the whole sequence im picturing its brief so shhh

#i read kingfisher first through their fantasy books (the clocktaur series is one of my favorite books ever written) #and ive read a LOT of their books now #so their writing style feels comforting almost #and i read a house with good bones a couple weeks ago and it was great #but this book was fucking terrifying #very very well written but i am going to have trouble sleeping in the coming weeks #some horror books are fun bc the fear is separate from you. like if i read a scifi horror book set in the year 4500 w flying cars etc #the fear is still there but it is separate from me #the idea that i could knock a hole into drywall and have such horrible terrible awful things happen is. god it makes me nauseous #if you've ever heard of the backrooms its a little bit like that. but things move in your vision #and they're in the 6th dimension or whatever so you can't see them but they can see you #fucking hell. what a terrifying book #i just finished it and am sitting alone in a dark room so maybe ill have different thoughts later #but it was so scary that i almost think i didn't enjoy it #like. if i read slower i might've had a panic attack lol #what a terrifying but phenomenal piece of writing. god i love t kingfisher SO MUCH

i literally have completionist brain but for real life and like. not a fun way for me to play games Definitely not a fun way for me to live irl

#bc in games like. skyrim or what have you i do nottt play them right ik there isnt a right way to play them #but i do every single quest and i pick the options thtall give me the best rewards etc and it just isnt very fun. and rhe point is that its #a role playing game so i should roleplay and if i want to see what happens if i pick the other options i just Make anew save instead of #reloading over and over again. and yet #and its not fun in the sims bc j literally judt force them to max their skills get highest level in their careers complete theiraspirations #and then im just like. ok. and it ends up making my sims games so samey and not fun bc ill Make sims thatr different from eachother but #well. 1. sims 4 sims do not act different from eachother Lmao you Can pick different traits but the most u get is moodlets and maybe 2-5 #dialogue options. not that much... vs like skms 3 where each trait could change up a sim a lot #butttt whatever. anyways... #but yeah irl im like Noooo i cant just do this 1 good job bc there are all these other jobs i also need to do i cant pick one major i have #to do all of them i cant Not be able to romance this person !! but real life isnt a video game and that mindset fucking sucks for videogame #anyway... like i like completing a game but i wish i didnt let it ruin games 4 me #bc it rly does i never finish games anymore bc i stress myself out over 100% it... #and i make too many spreadsheets abt them. but i love spreadsheets :[[[[ #i should go back to sdv again.. and return to an old save thats another thing #ill obsess iver a game to the point i burn out completely and stop playing and then ill get the urge to play again #but i start a new save and inevitably burn out again and its like ! the devil
