Time Management Tips
Set Clear Goals: Start with the end in mind. Define what you want to achieve during your study sessions. Having clear goals helps you stay focused.
Prioritize Tasks: Not all tasks are created equal. Identify your most important and time-sensitive tasks, and tackle those first.
Use a Planner: A physical or digital planner can be a lifesaver. Write down your daily schedule, including study time, and stick to it.
Break It Down: Large projects can be overwhelming. Break them into smaller, manageable tasks to make progress more achievable.
Eliminate Distractions: Identify your common distractions and create a study environment that minimizes them. This might mean turning off notifications, finding a quiet space, or using website blockers.
Time Blocking: Allocate specific time blocks for different activities. This prevents multitasking and helps you maintain focus.
The Two-Minute Rule: If a task takes less than two minutes to complete, do it right away. It prevents small tasks from piling up. If you catch yourself procrastinating, then starting with these small, easy tasks can also help you refocus.
Regular Breaks: Studies show that taking regular short breaks can boost productivity. Use the Pomodoro Technique (25 minutes of work, 5-minute break) to keep your brain fresh.
Reflect and Adjust: Regularly review your time management strategies and adjust them as needed. What's working? What needs improvement?
Self-Care Time: Don't forget to schedule time for self-care, relaxation, and hobbies. A well-balanced life is the key to long-term success.

4 tips on how to NOT manage time (by someone who sucks at it) and what I’ve been doing to correct these habits:
1. Don't try to cover all the material in an afternoon:
I’m not talking about the day before the exam, I’m talking about every other afternoon. Don't try to touch all the subjects you have. Most likely you won't have time, and will instead end up rushing through all the notes barely understanding anything.
INSTEAD → Focus on the subjects you have had that day. Review the content and work on some exercises before you start studying, and make sure you understand it. Only - AND TRULY ONLY - if you feel like you could ace a pop quiz on what you have just studied, you can take some time to re-read and test yourself in subjects you didn't have that day, but I’d still recommend using that time to review past lectures on the ones you did have that day.
2. Don't stay in front of your desk during breaks:
And I’m not only talking about not moving from the chair, I’m talking about taking two steps and plopping on your bed, mainly because this may have one of two effects: either your concentration will be affected while you try to study later on, or your sleep will be mentally related to having to study when you stand up, meaning you might sleep, but you won't actually rest, making it all way harder.
INSTEAD → Get out, take a walk, get some movement going on, even if it's just pacing up and down a hall. Make sure you stretch those muscles and get some blood pumping. If you can't go out of the room to simply stretch and relax, go to the bathroom, go get a glass of water, wash your face, or some snacks, but make sure you can see the sky at least once during said break, and from a window that's not the one in the room you're studying in.
3. Don't plan all week ahead of schedule:
Most of the time you're subconsciously going to end up designing your schedule to fit a rhythm your body doesn't have by pushing more work than you can actually do in a day, and not leaving a gap for extra work, concepts you may find more difficult, or issues you may have to review.
INSTEAD → Prepare a basic outline for your plan. Keep in mind which subjects you have each day, what you have covered and what you will possibly be covering during the week, and the topic you have to invest more time on. As your week goes by and you get extra work and an actual notion of what content your teacher will be covering, adapt that outline to actually schedule each day.
4. Don't sacrifice a good night sleep:
It's tempting, we've all been there: there's stuff left to do, things you could finish ahead of time, and projects that you could start planning, but it's nearly midnight and at this rate you'll get less than 5h of sleep. But hey, it's just a day, right? No. Don't give in to that, because late nights drive to late mornings, or worse, to early mornings with little to no rest. And let me tell you something, the more tired you are, the worse you'll perform in all aspects of your life!
INSTEAD → Shift the time you'd use at night and distribute it. Weekends, breaks, public transport, car rides, the supermarket queue… anything's better than sacrificing hours of sleep. Make sure your sleeping schedule is as constant as possible, and that you get at least 6-7h of sleep. In weekends, make sure it's a bit more if you can, to make up for all those days where you slept little to no time at all.

Effective Time Management Strategies for the 11 Plus Exam
Tumblr media
Mastering effective time management is paramount for success in the rigorous 11 Plus exam, which demands students to navigate through multiple sections within a stipulated timeframe. To optimize their performance and achieve their academic goals, students must implement strategic time management strategies tailored to the unique demands of the exam.
Breaking down the exam into manageable chunks is the first step towards effective time management. By carefully analyzing the structure of the 11 Plus exam and the allocation of marks for each section, students can prioritize their efforts accordingly. Dividing the total exam duration by the number of sections allows students to establish time goals for each segment, ensuring that sufficient time is allocated to tackle every part of the exam.
Setting realistic time goals for each section is essential for maintaining focus and efficiency during the exam. Students should aim to strike a balance between speed and accuracy, avoiding the temptation to linger on challenging questions or dwell on minor mistakes. Practice sessions conducted under timed conditions provide valuable insights into students' pacing abilities and help them refine their time management strategies accordingly.
Simulating exam scenarios during practice sessions is another effective way to familiarize students with the pressure of the test environment. Creating a quiet and distraction-free study space, adhering to strict time limits, and emulating the exam day conditions as closely as possible can help students build confidence and composure. Moreover, practicing past papers and mock tests allows students to identify time-consuming questions and develop strategies for managing them more effectively.
Incorporating regular breaks into study sessions is essential for maintaining concentration and preventing burnout. Short breaks between study intervals allow students to recharge their mental faculties, alleviate stress, and maintain productivity. Moreover, incorporating relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, mindfulness, or stretching exercises during breaks can help students stay calm and focused throughout their preparation journey.
Reflecting on past performance and identifying areas for improvement is crucial for refining time management strategies. Analyzing practice test results, seeking feedback from teachers or tutors, and adjusting study plans accordingly enable students to address weaknesses and capitalize on strengths. Moreover, adopting a growth mindset and embracing challenges as opportunities for growth fosters resilience and determination in overcoming time management obstacles.
In conclusion, effective time management is a cornerstone of success in the 11 Plus exam. By implementing strategic time management strategies, practicing under timed conditions, and simulating exam scenarios, students can optimize their performance and achieve their academic goals. With dedication, perseverance, and strategic planning, mastering time management is within reach for every aspiring 11 Plus candidate.

Make Specific Goals:
Setting specific objectives is necessary before you can manage your time well. Prioritizing activities will be easier if you know what you want to accomplish. Establishing your goals is the first step for Practical tips to time management and towards any kind of advancement, whether it is professional, personal, or spiritual.
Set Task Priorities:
Every job is not made equal. Making the distinction between important and urgent jobs is essential. Using the Eisenhower Matrix, divide your to-do list into four quadrants: either urgent and important, urgent and not important, and important but not urgent. Concentrate on the assignments in the first two groups.
Establish a to-do list:
After you’ve ordered your chores by priority, make a to-do list. Sort it according to preference and due dates. You’ll be able to plan your day better and manage your time as a result.
Scheduling Time:
Take into account using the time-blocking strategy. Set aside certain times for various chores and make sure you maintain attention throughout such times. Productivity may be greatly increased using this approach.
Remove All Diversions:
Find and remove distractions from your work area. Disable pointless alerts on your gadgets, shut off pointless tabs on your PC, and arrange your workspace such that it is comfortable for focused work.
Learn to Refuse:
Overcommitting to activities or duties may sometimes result in poor time management. To avoid burnout and retain your sanity, learn to say no when your plate is already full.
When it’s feasible, assign:
Not everything has to be done by you. As necessary, assign work to others to free up your time for other important duties.
Time-Management Resources:
To keep on top of your responsibilities and be organized, make use of time management tools and applications such as calendars and task management apps.
Finally, before we wrap up, let’s talk a little bit about the spiritual side of time management.
To sum up
A skill that may change your life is effective time management. You may do more and have a more fulfilled life by prioritizing chores, creating objectives, and using time management techniques.
Organizations such as ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) provide spiritual guidance on how to live a balanced and meaningful life. One of the main characters of ISKCON, Krishna, emphasizes the value of self-realization and communication with God. Leading a meaningful and purposeful life may be approached holistically by balancing your practical time management with your spiritual endeavors.
To maximize your valuable time, include these Practical tips to time management into your routine and think about discovering your spiritual side. Time is a gift, so make good use of it.

Time Management Tips for Students Preparing for a Competitive Exam
Tumblr media
We all know how crucial ‘time management’ is during any exam preparation, especially when it comes to competitive exams. There are simple ways to navigate through this ‘all-important’ aspect of exam prep. Here are some tips.
Craft a plan, adhere to it
Before you start preparing, get a thorough hold of the syllabus, the exam pattern, and learn all about the important topics. This way, you will easily be able to allot to subjects/topics, and daily revision. Also, be very sincere about following this plan while keeping room for other activities.
Review your plan
Next step is to review the plan to check its effectiveness. Once you’ve started implementing it, you can evaluate the way you’ve spent your time all week. You can maintain a record of everything that you’ve done throughout the week, which will help you alter and update the plan when needed.
Up your productivity
Now, focus on optimum productivity, which is also a very effective preparation strategy. So, choose a peaceful study corner and avoid distractions like social media, TV, and other people. This way, you can stay away from procrastination and stay focussed on the task at hand.
Accelerate your pace of learning
Being through with the entire syllabus is tough, but avoid mugging it. Many students do it, which hampers their overall prep. For, rote learning never helps in understanding what you’re learning and you will forget it in a jiffy. So, understand the topic, make notes, and revise these to hasten your learning.
Shortcut techniques help
Learn all the shortcut techniques you can apply, as they really help. Why? Because, competitive exams do have complex questions and shortcut methods are very effective in tackling these. So, practise them while studying till they become a habit, which will eventually help in answering challenging questions.
Online tests, mocks & sample papers
Taking online tests, mocks, practising with sample papers and previous years’ papers, are a great way to revise and fortify whatever you’ve learnt. This also familiarises you with the actual paper pattern, gives you a sense of the real exam environment, and gives a peek into your weak areas.
Peer pressure, keep it at bay
Learn to say ‘no’ to your peers. All those outings, events, projects, study groups, etc., are quite tempting and give a high, but keep all these at bay. Learn to turn down invites and avoid taking on more than needed. This will reduce your stress and anxiety, helping you to stay focused on your goal.
Time management skills are perhaps one of the most important aspects of any competitive exam, and well-prepared students certainly have an edge over others. Besides the tips we gave, joining an online coaching programme to aid your preparation also helps. TG Campus has some excellent online courses for engineering, medicine and law aspirants, among others, with the best faculty that offers excellent guidance.
