Looking back to this commission piece from 2020... It was a very special commission... A client got in touch with me to ask if I could recreate Hawkers Hit... She went on to explain that her husband's favourite place was Hawkers Hit overlooking the sea at Morwenstow... However he was very ill with cancer and it was unlikely that he would visit Hawkers Hut again... She then asked if I could recreate Hawkers Hut so he could visit it with out travelling... And before was the result in (1/26 scale). For a little bit of history on the Hut: Robert Stephen Hawker was vicar of Morwenstow from 1834 to 1875. He was a poet and ballad writer and wrote Cornwall’s unofficial anthem “The Song of the Western Men”. He would retreat to this hut to write his poetry and gently unwind on an evening. Hawker’s Hut was built around 1844 from driftwood and shipwreck timbers. Commission: Big bang theory apartment in (1/34 scale) I can't tell you how pleased I am to have painted the furniture and be able to start seeing how it's all going to look, obviously there is some weathering on the sofa to be done and all the smaller details like lamps, kitchen utensils and the telescope not to mention a miniature chess board! But all in all we are so close to completion now on this commission, it'll hopefully finish with a bang... Commission - Leonard & Sheldon's apartment door (1/18 scale) The handles are always a challenge on any door but in 1/18 scale I was able to use the Dremel to score a line around a piece of plastic rod and then using a file I sanded further to get the shape of the handle... Commission - Leonard & Sheldon's apartment door (1/18 scale) I think this is a roll Matt for camping but I can't be sure... However I simply wrapped gorilla tape around a plastic rod to make the mat but then I wrapped some smaller pieces around too to form the straps... I primed it grey and then picked out the straps in black and orange... It was really nice to make this little detail 😁 This piece is very nearly finished and I'm waiting to pop the resin bowl out I've created and then I will fit that for completion! (1/24 scale) Poppins restaurant Worcester: With a lot of my early pieces I've applied paint last however I've evolved to paint sections separately resulting in a neater finish all round - and it makes me feel more in control too... 😂 - For this top section of the building I had the challenge of creating a concrete effect... So after applying some pase coats of different shades of grey with the airbrush, I then turned to a sponge to stipple more shades on... I've not done this before and so this could have gone horribly wrong however sometimes it pays to be extra brave and dive right in trusting your gut... - After applying some black pastels to weather the concrete up I stood back and felt content... I've printed everything white and then I used my airbrush to paint the blue on making sure it was a dark enough blue of course! I've also wallpapered the walls basically to get a very clean look to the piece 👌 You can see I'm in the process of smoothing out the edges of the art board for the back of the door...
